I read the other good reviews and decided to take a chance on this. I had been looking for several months and was hoping this would work out. It did! This is furniture store quality at a bargin basement price. It has great details and was easy to assemble. We took the other reviewers advise and let it air outdoors before begining to put together. I am just too pleased with this purchase!

I bought a couple of these to hold LPs. The shelves are 13" high, which is great, though only 10.5" deep. They keep their balance when loaded up with records, though, so that's not a big deal. Cute, clean, simple & a good price
I've been buying the mission pieces for my living room because I wanted something that looked nice, but didn't cost alot.I had no problem putting them together, and I like the 2 adjustable shelves.They have even held up to the testing from my very ingenious 7 year old.I would definately buy them again.

went together poorly
This looked great, small enough for the space, still able to hold a lot of stuff. I was extremely disappointed in the way it went together.I had to make some adjustments, which I should not have to do for a brand new piece of furniture. If I could, I would give this no stars. It is very unfortunate, because I have purchased the sofa table, and that piece of furniture is quite nice and sturdy.

Good Buy for the Money
Generally, you get what you pay for, and...this bookcase is a good buy. It assembled very easily (took me all of 5 minutes with just a screwdriver), and fit together well for a machined piece. The individual wood pieces were well-packaged and undamaged in the box (I'd recommend checking this in the store before lugging the piece home).

My only (minor) complaints: 1) 2 of the 4 shelves are not fixed and just sit on pegs - which is okay - adjustable shelves can be good, but these shelves don't fit very well and rock back and forth a bit, with more noticable gaps between the edges of the shelves and the uprights. 2) The piece is not terribly sturdy - it will rock to the right and left a bit if bumped, even when tightly assembled.

I originally thought I may be able to use these shelves to hold my vcr, dvd player, etc next to the tv stand, but they are not wide enough.It still looks great, though, and I'm glad I bought them (2 sets in fact).

This is not a bookcase
Although this is not particularly practical as a bookcase, it is the best storage space I have ever found for my old 33 1/3 record albums. sturdy shelf for AMAZING price!
I saw these shelves at Office Depot; they run $79.00 each, which is a decent price for the quality--they are not hardwood, so judge accordingly. This unit, the Sauder 5-shelf, (also comes in 3 and 2 shelf units) is very sturdy. The shelves are about 3/4" thick and can handle some weight (we press on them to be sure!). I'd have purchased them that day if they'd had any in stock. My good fortune! I can purchase 3 from this seller for the price of 1 at home depot! Even with S&H I come out way ahead.
