Nice bookcase, but pricey
I ordered this bookcase for my 1 year old daughter's room.It was fairly easy to assemble and the bookcase is made of sturdy material.I was a little concerned when I ordered, that it could become damaged during shipping, but it was packed very well with styrofoam and the ends were wrapped well to prevent damage if dropped on end during shipping.The only negative about the bookcase is the price.I paid full price ($109) and this bookcase, although well-made, is a bit small.But, the scallop trim matched my daughter's dresser and it looks great in the room.Overall, I am pleased. ... Beechwood 2-Tier Bookshelf
I am very pleased with this purchase.The quality of great for the price.I put it together within 15 minutes.I bought it for my kitchen area and it fits perfectly.One note:It will not hold books that are larger that 10" tall without laying the book down flat on the shelf.That's the only drawback of this product.I would definitely recommend this product.Thanks Amazon!!

Just Okay
Upon initial receipt, I though it was great. It seemed very easy to put together. It seems though that as soon as I decided that, it went downhill. Two of the "cam lock cases" as they call them I could not get to work. They hold in the screws for the shelves. The concept is great, but in reality they aren't so great. One of them I never did get to tighten, the other one I ended up using wood glue and my hunband's gripper tools that he uses to build other wooden things to hold it together overnight. There are two adjustable shelves, each with little notches on the ends to help stay on the shelf pins. Well, they are suppposed to have notches. One of them only has notches on one side; it has already fallen out once, and I just finished putting it together and there is nothing on the shelf yet. I'm not sure yet if I'd buy it again. It's not as wide as I thought it was, but I guess I should have read the dimensions. ... Read more

say goodbye to the skin on your fingers for assembly...
These look ok (they look inexpensive as well) but I can't say I recommend them for single women, unless you own a powerdrill. Assembly is ridiculous. Those "easy" snap in and screw in parts are not in appropriatly predrilled holes, you will have to hammer them in and get blisters if you try to screw things in without a drill. Buyer beware, buy a drill first or think of another company.

looks nice, but beware
the metropolitan line is very aesthetically pleasing--clean lines, classic styling.But beware of the inferior materials and craftsmanship.splits in the wood, (two different pieces), door that kept falling out (didn't have one of the holes pre-drilled for the hinge pin), basically flimsy. returned to Target without a problem

bookcase review
I was excited to find out the bookcase finally went on sale so I went to my local Target to buy it and the coffee table. It did not take over an hour to assemble and it looks very nice. Beware the "wood" does chip very easy. The only problem I have is the door does not want to stay closed. I don't know if the magnet is just not strong enough or what but it is not a huge deal to me. I would recommend this product and the coffee table. I could only find one bookcase in the store but had my boyfriend buy me another online to complete the look of an entertainment center.

Great Addition to my front Formal Sitting Area!
I purchased 2 of these bookcases from my local Target when I decided to redecorate my front formal sitting area along with the Metropolitan table. I am astounded by the quality and how expensive they actually look. They didn't take very long to put together at all. I have a bookcase on either side of the Metropolitan table against the accent wall in my front room.It looks absolutely amazing and it is the first thing you see when you walk into my house. I have gotten compliments from everyone that enters my house and have had several people ask if I got them from a high-end retailer. I definitely encourage anyone viewing these items to go for it, you will not be dissapointed!

Have been eyeing this bookcase for a while and finally bought on sale this weekend.I assembled two of them myself in good time.Relatively easy to assemble, but it would have been smoother if the pieces had been marked with letters shown on the parts list.One of my units didn't have the hole pre-drilled for the door, so I had to do it myself.Use them in my living room to flank a big screen TV with a shelf between to hold the cable box, DVD, etc.It looks like an expensive home theater unit and no one but me knows it cost under $200! ... Fairly Happy W/Quality
I just bought this bookshelf today, and my husband decided to put it together.It's easy to do, even without reading the directions.I was also a little disappointed that it was not taller.I bought this item as a re-sale after it was returned by a previous shoppper -- only to bring it home and discover the silver disc at the bottom (which serves as a third leg for the piece) was Missing.The bookshelf is currently holding itself up with -- a book.It looks nice in our 2nd bedroom, though, and doesn't take up much room.The open concept does make the room seem bigger, vs. packed.
