The product falls short of its marketing hype.The User interface is somewhat quirkey.Over all the product is satisfactory for my needs.

However, the tech support leaves a lot to be desired.Using the online trouble report screen gets you a sparse response that will require a follow up call to get an answer.

The biggest problem I have come accross is the fact thatyou can only use the program if you are an administrator in OS X.Since all users have access to the program this is a major short-coming and there is no work-around (according to tech support).

They do have a toll free phone number but it is not posted on their website.You will get it on the signature line of the technicians email response.

Overall a good product that has left me frustrated.

It is nice to see that a company has a working OCR software under OS X.
The software works well despite many scanner compatibilty issues. These issues can be resolved by getting the latest twain drivers or plug in from the scanner manufacturer.

Biggest complaint is lack of customer support and tech support.
After leaving many voicemails at various extensions no one called me back until one month later!
If you don't mind the wait the software is well worth it.

I was initially drawn to the product for two reasons: one, it runs natively on OS X, and two, with the rebate it was only $25. I've been using OmniPage running under Classic, and this is light-years better, in every way: ease of use, speed, recognition, you name it. I've thrown lots of different kinds of documents at it, and its done exceptionally well.

There are few companies that support OS X, so we're often stuck with second-class software, but not in this case! And given that there's really no other competition, you can't go wrong!

I've designed some simple pages over the years from share and freeware programs, the last using Namo Webeditor V4. I thought I was beyond the noob position but this program put me right back at the beginning.

After importing an already existing site, it inserted a template format over all the pages. (Hand smacking forehead) While this option can probably be turned off or adjusted, I am forced to dive into help menus to understand the "characteristics" of this program.

Maybe version 7 was simple to use. I have tried working with V7.5 for the past couple months and have not been satisfied with the integration of the features. It does have some nice aspects but if I have difficulty doing simple stuff, the complex features don't matter.

To me this has a moderate learning curve. I'm tired of trying to figure out the thinking behind NetObjects Fusion V7.5 and will keep searching for another web page development program. :(

I learned to build web pages with FrontPage 2000.This is nothing like FrontPage. This is going to take some time to learn and get use to. I am a little discouraged, but will give it more time. Nothing what I expected. I'm seriously thinking I should have upgraded to Frontpage 2003. Maybe I will write a better review once I get to know what in the hell I'm doing.

I was planning to put up a website in a few months or so. The problems I have in doing this are: 1) I don't know a HTML from a hole in the wall, 2) I don't want to get Frontpage or Dreamweaver and totally lose my sanity and cash, and 3) It was very hard finding a web design program that was user friendly and powerful as well.

I looked at many of the "standards" out there such as EasyWeb and a truckload of others until I stumbled upon NetObjects Fusion 7. This version was selling at a great price and I thought the gamble was worth it. It turns out it wasn't a gamble at all. I hit the jackpot.

NetObjects Fusion 7 sounds like a planet that Capt.Kirk might visit in Star Trek, ( "Ahead warp factor 4, Sulu. Set a course for NetObjects Fusion 7...") but in fact, it is a feature filled program that will get you up and running with your first web design in less than half an hour. They say 10 minutes, but I like to take my time with these sort of things. The instruction manual guides you through each step of developing your own web page with many hints and tips. The program also delves into the deeper aspects of HTLM and what not, so it is a program that you can develop your skills with. I've played around with it for about a week now and am thoroughly impressed with the ease in which a website can be developed. The program has many templates that are ready made to use. You can also customize these templates or start from scratch and make your own designs. I also purchased the SiteStyles Vol. 1 add on. This is an excellent source of literaly hundreds of different website designs that you can use straight out of the box or munipulate and change to your hearts content. NOF 7 allows you to import graphics and backgrounds which makes customization a breeze. Netobjects Fusion 7 is a great program. Check often for updates and fixes as the company is constantly trying to make their product better.

I can understand the angst of some of the professional website builders. When a program comes along that is this easy and inexpensive to use, I would probably feel a little uneasy as well if I were in their shoes. NOF 7 will never replace them, but it sure has done a remarkable job of getting people like me up to speed quickly and painlessly in designing websites. Beam me up Scotty, I've seen enough.

I've been using this programs since release 2
I bought 2 3 4 5 and 7 and have recently updated with
the latest patches and STILL its got more bugs than an anthill
I've just trashed it

it totally refuses to even import single pages that that display fine in IE6 ... pages it created in the same version of itself !!!

It refuses to even import its own .nod project files created just 12 months ago

I've now lost 4 entire web sites because I assumed having backups of this things project files would keep them safe

they cant or wont provide fixes and despite 7 attempts to get them to stop they keep spamming my email address

avoid this company and its projects like the plague

try dreamweaver it may be more complicated but at least it doesnt keep trashing your work

it took these people 6 releases to even get the HTML

command to work correctly

just amazingly bad in every respect for anything other than simple 1 or 2 page sites with nothing on them

When I began looking for webdesign software, of course I considered "Frontpage" and "Dreamweaver," but both were not within our budget. Not only is NetFusion less expensive than them, but, I can't believe why this isn't a more popular web design program. I have a very basic understanding of html, but, you do NOT need knowledge of html or CSS to design cool (or, if you prefer, "kewl") pages.

The interface is intuitive and simple. Take a few minutes to tinker with it. . .and you'll see that you don't need to read the entire manual. If you have any trouble with the program, which I doubt, the online support has the answers, as do a few books about earlier versions of the program.

This learning series really helped me learn how to listen to the different annotations and accents of the Thai langauge.The speakers are native Thais including men and women.The CD-Rom is very interactive using different learning methods for each lesson.The lessons include listening, reading, and speaking.The exercises are composed of 4 pictures which the narrator describes and you choose the appropriate activity.None of the lessons include an English translation which can be a bit confusing.

I have a small business where 3 people need access to Invoices, POs and inventory. It seems, If you want to do anything of any impotence, you have to go to single user mode. For example; importing customers, anything with inventory, anything with vendors. All anyone can do in multi-user mode is create invoices and POs. It was a waist of money for us as we still find ourselves in single user mode most of the time. Oh, and the there are tuns of "OK" buttons to press. Every time you tell it to do something, expect to press at least 2 "OK" buttons before it will do it. Don't tell me "QB is now ready to..." do something, JUST DO IT. All in all, it's pretty much the same thing as the QB Pro. If you are like us, and need more people to access information, I suggest upgrading to something else. ... Read more

What can you say about the Adobe Acrobat program?What you should be saying is WOW!

Who would have guessed that all of these years down the road that Acrobat would have become such a total industry standard. And that there would be no fewer than four Acrobat programs to work with; Acrobat 7 Pro, Acrobat 7 Standard, Acrobat Elements, and of course Acrobat Reader.

I have been an Acrobat user since way back in Version 3, and I still use some form of Acrobat at some time during every day.

What I still think is a bit odd, is that dozens of people that I consult with about their computers every day, still have no real idea as to what Acrobat files really are, or even how to create them.They know what they look like, and use the free reader to view them, but that is a far as most of them go.

So, with that thought in mind, here goes my very own explanation as to what Adobe Acrobat does.It is a graphics application program that bundles, and encapsulates graphic and text files together into a single file.Now this is an extremely simplified version of what the program ultimately does, but you get the gist of its main purpose, and function.

That usually begs the next question:Why do I need to bundle all these files together?
The short answer is that if you want to insure that the person receiving your file is seeing the file like it looked on your side when you sent it.

And, in their own words " Adobe® Acrobat® 7.0 Standard software is the simple way to create and share more secure, reliable Adobe PDF documents"




So, in its essence, Acrobat 7 is the great equalizer, and the supreme translator all wrapped into one program.Ever since the computer/internet world found its legs, there was a problem with people sending a combined graphics and text file.And when they sent it, the layout looked great to the sender.But, alas, when that file arrived on the other end, it was a mess with text over here, and photos over there, etc.

The solution was Acrobat. This application was built to convert all types of file formats into a singular format that anyone could view with a free browser on all computers.

In making this giant leap to Version 7 Acrobat from my ancient version 4, I am a bit star struck with all of the new features in Acrobat 7.

To start with, there are numerous programs out there which can now create PDF files via a one click feature.These include Office, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express.
Several of these options are Windows only features, and we can only hope that the Mac mail and browser programs will soon be added to this list.

And here is a new twist;You can now attach a file to your PDF document. Sort of like putting an attachment to your attachment...

There are several improvements to adding headers, footers, backgrounds, and watermarks, and the process is much easier that it ever was.

As always , the usage rights that users issue with their PDF files can be even more customized than before.Added control of the end useris really the key when limiting that control is important.

Acrobat 7 now supports both static, and interactive forms. Those Interactive type of forms created with either Acrobat Professional, or Adobe Designer allow for digital signatures, and electronic form completion.

Passing documents for review back and forth from art director to client, and back again is what Acrobatdoes very well.All browser based reviewsdone with a Mac are performed through Safari.

So when a designer sends out an Acrobat file to a client for review, the PDF files arrives at the client side, and a commenting toolbar shows up(if sent in a managed review document).
The reviewing tools provided include;The Callout tool,Group markups, Dimensioning tool, Exporting of comments and markup,Tracking Reviews, and finally, Approving documents in 4 eastern languages.There is a lot of control here, and that is why designers like it so much.

New security features allow foreven more secure signature validation, plus revokable limits, and even secured attachments to your PDF files.

There are noticeable improvements to the accessibility features.There is extended language support, along with a much faster searching function that I personally use a great deal.

Acrobat 7 has now added an "Autosave" feature that can safeguard your data being backed up to another file name without messing up the original.


For the times when it is necessary to view some 3D content in a PDF file, version 7 can now do just that.

Version 7 can now create, and save "PDF/A" files for archiving,It can also scan paper documents directly into a searchable PDF file.Very nice.

One of the newest features in Version 7 is the new "Organizer", and is similar to Photoshop's Browser.Very easy to use, and well thought out.

There are lots of additional new features included with this version 7, but I will let you do the additional exploring for yourselves.Adobe has always been at the forefront in loading up their software with amazing features, and this latest version of Acrobat 7 certainly proves that point.The entire Acrobat family has grown to epic proportions in the scope of what it can do for documents, and their users.It's popularity in itself shows that the program works, and not only does what it is supposed to do, but does it beautifully.

Adobe Acrobat 7 steps up to the plate, and knocks it out of the park.Oh, did I mention that I am impressed?Now, some of my amazement could possibly stem from my shock at jumping from a much older version to this new version 7, but great software is a joy to use, especially when you need it.

Adobe Acrobat 7 is afeature rich, amazing, and quality product.There simply is no substitute.If you don't already own it, then you need to.

Be warned: If you have any problems with Acrobat, their only interest in helping you is obtaining your credit card number. Then, MAYBE they can help you. I was unable to make pdfs from certain programs which have worked before, and which even work on an identical computer. Both computers are brand new. When I called, the person was rude, arrogant, and condescending. Unless I gave him my credit card number, he would not help me. He would not give his last name, allow me to speak with a supervisor or even give me his supervisor's name. I have Acrobat software which is useless to me.

The most immediate feature you will notice about Acrobat 7.0 from previous versions is the load time.Although still not the fastest program, the loading time is cut dramatically from 6.0.It also does a very nice job of converting webpages into PDF files.Great for sharing.

The immersive approach to building vocabulary and listening skills -- basically showing you pictures and making you associate them with spoken phrases -- is fun and works beautifully.The first time you walk through a lesson, you feel as if you're guessing and you get about 45% right ... but the second time through you're at 80%, and if you go through a third time you're geting nearly everything right.They're pretty artful about communicating subtle ideas in pictures --they get past/present/future tense across very clearly, for instance.

I'm less sure thus far about the approach to learning reading and writing skills, which is similar to the listening drills -- you're associating images or spoken words with sets of glyphs without any drilling in the alphabet.I've made progress on recognizing many words and am starting to puzzle out the alphabet myself, but have a long way to go on this.

Overall, if you want to get quickly to the point where you can conduct a conversation with Hindi-speakers or travel in India, this software in combination with some subtitled Bollywood movies is probably the fastest and most enjoyable way to get there.

If you're reading this. You are interested in buying Dragon NaturallySpeaking version eight if you are. I highly recommend it! I had versions of Dragon software, dating back to 1995. Let me tell you the software was clunky back then, being a quadriplegic, I used it to type and move the mouse. But as soon as I got a touchpad mouse. I dropped Dragon altogether. Step forward almost 10 years, I decided that I needed to send longer e-mails than two sentences (because that's all I could type, it gets tiring using only one hand and one knuckle on that hand). So I took the plunge drop the cash on Dragon, and after three days am totally satisfied.

I added up and running and dictating in less than 20 minutes. The accuracy is amazing I'm actually typing this by voice. Since I can use a touchpad, I do not use the Dragon NaturallySpeaking for mouse commands. But for dictating it is perfect and quick!!!

I'm using it with a 2 GHz processor, and it is fine. Getting it set up was a little quirky with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. I'm actually using it with a tabletop condenser microphone, not the heads that they came with it (which I found to be quite uncomfortable). Since I'm unable to get the headset on my head, but a tabletop mike is working perfect.

So I recommend this product anyone who has a disability that makes typing difficult. Anybody who doesn't want to learn to type (though I think he would be lazy, just suck it up and learn). The software is leaps and bounds above previous versions go for it! Enjoy! ... Read more

The superpen SP1000 is easy to setup and works almost as well as advertised.I have the version that supports bilingual dictionaries.

The pen came with a CD and a serial cable to connect to the computer.If you plan to transfer data to, or load dictionaries from, a laptop, check that your laptop has a serial port.The pen is supposed to support IR as well, but my laptop does not detect it (though I didn't really try to make this feature work). I installed the software from CD onto my Windows XP machine and connected the pen with the cable. After setting the pen to use the PC connection I was able to choose my dictionaries and load them onto the pen. The dictionaries took a couple of minutes apiece to load. Due to memory space taken by the applications that are pre-loaded on the pen I was only able to load 2 dictionaries at a time. I believe (not sure) the pro version has more memory so I would suggest investigating that version if you study more than one language or want to use dictionaries with other features like note-taking.

I tried scanning both left-handed and right-handed.In left-handed mode it is easier to see where to place the scanning point in front of the word.The pen rolls smoothly and the character recognition worked well even in a book that is not completely flat and has smallish type.

It is difficult to capture a short word by itself, but scanning several words at a time works well for capturing short words.The pen display allows you to scroll across the scanned words, showing the definition for each word in turn.

I have two reasons for giving the product less than 5 stars.When scanning French the pen does not always accurately identify reflexive verbs preceded by an apostrophe, e.g., s'asseoir should be recognized as a reflexive verb asseoir with a preceding s'. Compared to my pocket Langenscheidt dictionary, the electronic translation dictionary supplied with the superpen provides a lower quality of translation and has fewer alternative word definitions.

I suggest to Wizcom that they partner with a better French dictionary provider, such as Langenscheidt, in order to improve the quality of the translation.

I tried the SuperPen a couple of days back. It is amazing! You can pick up any text in virtially any language, run your SuperPen over it and abracadabra!it is translated to your choice of language. A little speaker will even say it out to ensure you get the correct pronounciation!
Students, want to make book notes but don't have a laptop or just hate typing? Use the SuperPen. With enough memory to store data worth 1000 pages, you can never run out of space! And transfer your notes to your device(PC, PDA etc) whenever you would like to.
That said, the SuperPen does have a few problems:
1) You have to get used to holding the pen in correct position so that the content can be properly scanned.
2) You gotta run the SuperPen over the printed text slowly or it will garble the data
3) Will NOT work well if you want to scan data off magazines with glossy pages.
4) At $180, the SuperPen is not exactly affordable by all.

CONCLUSION: If you travel abroad a lot or have to take notes from books/reference materials, SuperPen is the best device out there. You will not be disappointed.

Word 2003 is more powerful than ever.Unfortunately, most of the new features are aimed primarily towards large business.As a result, many end-users simply won't need them (or be able to use them).The users who will benefit most from upgrading are corporate users or users purchasing bundles with new PCs.

Pros:

Instant Messaging support is now integrated with Office applications.However, only MSN messenger is used.Users who predominantly use Yahoo, trillian, jabber, or ICQ will not find any utility in this feature, without signing up for a messenger account.

The user interface has changed for the better, and matches the Windows XP interface better.Personally, I like it.Also, fonts are rendered better, and consequently documents will look better on laptops (no more jagged edges).

The Reading Layout feature splits the text into a two column format for easier reading (think newspaper).

If you have Microsoft Server and SharePoint services installed on your network, you can share and track changes to word documents.Nice feature, but requires a significant investment on server software.

When typing an hypertext link, word no longer reformats the font of the URL.

Cons:

Product activation, which requires network access.

All of the Office applications now have a blended help system that first checks help files online first, before getting local help files.

XML is useless for end users.Programmers who use Word to write XML will find that Word no longer tries to autocorrect much of the XML, but you will still have the annoying red underline on many of your XML tags because the spellchecker flags them as misspelled.

Still, I think it makes a worthy upgrade for 97/2000 users, but XP users will find the expense difficult to justify.More specifically, if you are an end user without a lot of Microsoft back end software installed on your network (Windows 2000/2003 Server, SharePoint services, etc.) I would think very carefully before upgrading. ... I have been trying out different antivirus/security programs for the past month, and i like this one best.I have used norton for years and had no problems, but when i uninstalled norton, and installed this program it found stuff that norton and spysweeper had ignored. i like the anti-spyware program as an added touch.
