There are a lot of applications of the web that claim to do this and almost all don't work and are truly bush league. This one works well and will keep you check book in balance. Prints especially good on a laser printer. Save a bundle and the hassle of going through your bank. It will pay for this price by eliminating your next check order, and then save hundreds over time. Nifty and Practical
This software provides a nifty and practical way to customize your own personal checks, rather than purchase pre-printed or bank checks. I went to an office supply store to purchase the actual black check supply, for around twenty-two bucks for 750 checks, and printed out my own quickly and simply using Windows 98 and an inkjet printer. Someone else who uses the same software gave me the idea of printing my photo on the checks as a customizing idea, as she did herself. Nice idea, I think, or perhaps a nice background, using a favorite photo.

I ran into one stumbling block when attempting to enter my bank account information in the step-by-step on-screen process; I had NO old checks from my account, and the setup requires that you enter the little hyphenated number which is found near the center of your checks. Upon contacting my financial institution for this number, I was disappointed to find that a representative there was unwilling to give me that simple, non-confidential information. It just so happened that while insisting to her that I needed it for printing my new personalized checks (as she insisted I only need the routing # and account #), I happened to see that it was printed on my deposit slips, which I still had left. In other words, if for some reason you too have no checks available, simply check a deposit slip from your account if you have one, and all the information will be there.

Great Product
This is a really great product for people who are tired of spending high dollars on bank checks.I've been using these checks and this software for years.The steps for entering your bank data in order for it to print on your check is very simple.You can print checks to carry around with you so that they can be handwritten in stores, etc. and you can print check amounts and vendor names with your various computer programs, i.e. Quick Books, Quicken, etc.You can put clip art on your checks, maybe a Christmas Tree at Christmas and so on.I get a lot of compliments from store merchants when using these checks, but my main objective for using them is the BIG SAVINGS !!! ... AWFUL PROGRAM DO NOT BUY
I bought this because it was only $30 and WAY cheaper than Quickbooks Pro.However, after only 5 minutes of trying to use it, I realized that I can ONLY pay my payables by cutting a CHECK!I pay most of my bills using my credit card and debit card! (Who pays by check anymore?)

This program is CHEAP and CRAP and if you want to call their tech support, they charge you $20 just for the CALL and additional $ for each minute.

DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM -- Spare yourself the agony and get Quickbooks Pro.Even the grafix (and desktop icon included!) are awful. POOR POOR POOR

Not as Bad as the others say - but could be better
While looking for a different deposit slip template (it only comes with one) I ran across a couple reviews here saying how bad this software is.
I've been using this for my office for the last year or so, and I gotta say that I don't have any serious complaints. While I haven't called the overpriced tech support, I was ableto figure out how to format a check pretty much however I want it to look.I'm sure it could be made to be MUCH easier, but it works if you put in the time (TOO MUCH in my opinion to set it up) and know some computer/word processing basics.Once it's set up, it works fine though.I haven't had a problem with day to day use.
HOWEVER, I had actually forgotten what a PITA this program was to set-up until today.I just changed banks, and needed to set-up my new accounts.The set-up problem is that unless you want to use the sub-par templates, you need to design your own template - for EACH kind of check stock you use.You can't copy and paste between templates either, so you have to do each one seperately.Even with just basic type setting it took me over an hour to do one kind of check stock (3 to a page)I still need to do the 1 to a page/voucher checks.Of course, you also have to do one style to print a blank check, and another style ("compatible") to do Quicken compatible checks. So I have 3 more check styles to design. :(
The best thing I can say is that once it gets set up, it works. (you just have to select the "Check Designer" driver as the printer you send the checks to in Quicken, and if you use more than one acocunt, you need to be careful to select the right account when "Check Designer" gets called up)
Since this is the only check design software I've used, I'm not sure if other brands would be any better.However, if I had it to do again, I'd probably spend a few extra bucks and get a more widely recognized brand and hope it was more user friendly.

A Total Waste of My Money
After purchasing this product, I couldn't get it to successfully install the font that is required to run the program.I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled until my patience ran out.I figured "no bid deal, you can always call customer support to get help."Then I found out you have to pay per minute to speak to customer support because as the company explained, "tech support has not been figured into the price of the product."Well, not wanting to pay more money than I already have into this product, I resorted to ordering my checks from the bank.

QuickBooks compatibility
This product claims compatibility with QB but doesn't deliver. QB will not export data in a format acceptable to Checksoft; Checksoft will not import data from QB. Tech support is a joke ... $25 for first 10 minutes ... forget it.I spent too many hours this week trying to get this to work and it just isn't worth it. ... Read more

beware - you'll get your money's worth
Very dissapointing software, cumbersome to use.
1. Endless login screens: every time I attmept to print checks - either in native window or from Quicken, I have to go thru a series of login screens, even if this is within the same Quicken session. In the software native window, the "back" button logs you out (unexpectedly) and you have to login again.
2. The apperance of printed checks is different from what you seen in check designer - text ismisaligned, extends beyond printable boundary etc.
3. Using paper with 3 checks per page, be prepared to waste the whole page even if you print just one check: the software prefills another check on a page with your personal info, byut without the rest of checkgraphics, making it unusable for either future printing of manual writing
4. worst of all - every time you quit the software (e.g., finish printing), the computer is frozen for half a minute

There is only one good think I can say about it- 30 day money back guarantee. I bought the software yesterday and today I am going make use of this policy! ... Read more
