Great product. The best CRM for Mac
As a Mac user, I always complained about the lack of a good CRM or contact application for Mac. While PC users had Golmine or Act!, no professional application was available for Apple users. Daylite is a great application for professional users. It has so many features and details that the more you use it, the more you start to love it. It really helps you to better manage your contacts and projects and improve your productivity. The Daylite application, to really shine and become a terrific tool, needs to be combined with the Daylite Mail Integration Module. Without it, its not as useful. I am giving Daylite only 4 stars and not 5 because it lacks a printed manual in the box (and you really need it, this is not an easy to use software as soon as you start working with it) and most important, because it does not includes the Mail Integration Module, which the company sells for an additional $39. Good luck
I have an older version of this.When my wife's computer crashed last week, it took the catalog with it.So now I have a recent back up of her hard drive (or disk as Retrospect calls it) which no version of Dant software seems to recognize so as to rebuild the catalog.I have several versions because I originally bought it, and then it came bundled with each of the three Maxtor one touch drives I have purchased.

Strictly for expert use -- but owns a niche space
My original review is below. I've since revised my estimate downwards. I've used both 6.0 and 6.5 for about a year and a half. I can't recommend this product. It feels like it's lost its way; as though it changed product management one time too often. Error messages are cryptic and often uninterpretable. The only way you can really know a backup has completed is to try a restore. It has more failure modes than any other piece of software I've worked with. Retrospect has always been complex, but the various pieces seem to work together less well over time. Dantz charges a great deal for tech support, I think that has caused them to lose touch with their customer base.

It's still true that for some LAN configurations there's no real alternative to Retrospect. In that case do buy it, but expect to constantly review logs and do not expect to have confidence in the software.

I've used Retrospect 6.0 for about a year. I'm only now upgrading ($43) to Retrospect 6.5. Seeing how few posts there are here, however, I want to chip in and help out a bit. Some key points:

1. If you need to backup a mixed LAN (Windows and Mac) there's no competition to Retrospect. This is the only option in the marketplace. I backup my iBook and two PCs (one client and one is the server) using Retrospect. I back up to removeable hard drives -- there's really no other viable solution for the SOHO and home market.

2. This is one HECK of a complex piece of software. Don't even consider it if you're not a guru.

3. It's ornery and persnickety. Once one graduates with a black belt in backup it's very fast and very powerful. Device support is problematic.

4. Just to be clear -- this runs on a Windows machine. The host machine doesn't have to be a server, I've used Win2K and WinXP hosts.

5. Because of the client/server architecture it uses I can back up 10GB of data from by iBook overnight across a slow wireless LAN.

6. This is an industrial strength product. It will scale to a huge enterprise.

7. I think Dantz support is improving. About 2 years ago I think they were at the edge of bankruptcy. Since Apple's fortunes have stabilized, and they've had time to get OS X support working better, I think they're turning around. Their customer forums are very good.

Bottom line. Home and small business backup is really broken -- but not only at Dantz. There are real market and technology problems that are making backup very hard to do -- data demands have grown too fast for the industry. Ultimately Google or Microsoft will own network backup, but customers aren't yet ready to pay. In the meantime Dantz is the right choice for a certain customer who has:

1. A mixed LAN. Sorry, you need this.
2. A need for professional backup and the capacity to manage it.

For many customers, unfortunately, there is no currently available backup solution.

Retrospect wants you to buy expensive support and for what?
I use to swear by retrospect and it never let me down until OS X. Since Dantz started to support OS X its been "You can purchase Retrospect Support, for $xxx a year...." and how good is this support? Not very I have a very common DVDR Drive that they still don't support, I wouldn't complain if I owned the express back up, but I own the Pro package and the support is lousy! so many $$$ a call to find out that I need to update to their new software after I had just purchased an upgrade and then they still can't say they know if they support a Pioneer A107 DVDR!? $150 plus a year for support I don't think so...

Powerful but hard to use
This program is powerful and versatile, but it's difficult to use, especially if you use different media (hard disk, zip disks, DVDs, etc.).They also call things that we were already familiar with, like disk sets and incremental backups, differently.The printed manual is nice, though.

To the guy from Pa. who couldn't use the DVD writer: next time get a better namebrand.Retrospect works great with the built-in Toshiba DVD burner in my laptop.

Still haven't found what I'm looking for
For over a decade, I've looked for the perfect backup utility, and I thought that I'd finally found it. It had to be automatic without needing a third-party add-on (unlike built-in Windows backup utilities), it had to incremental but smart enough to know what I'd changed (whereas others seem to take guesses, not always accurately), it had to allow for multiple backup routines (e.g. daily to another hardrive and weekly to a Zip drive), and it had to be user friendly (or my wife wouldn't use it, too).

Ta-da - this does all that. .... BUT, if you want to backup opened files, be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars extra, ouch! For example, I need a daily backup of my Outlook *.PST file(email, contacts, todos, appointments, etc.) but I routinely leave Outlook open rather than closing it every night. When I realized that this entailed an extra cost, I lowered my rating of this product from 5 to 3 stars.

Great, easy on your briefcase and the environment
Popped in easily, selected two sided in the print dialog box, and it worked!
I wish more printers had this option. Think of all the paper/trees it would save, and it makes papers twice as light to carry around.

Good accessory to have
Attached it to a HP 7150 and it works wonderfully.Extremely easy to install.Contruction is very similar to that of the printer.There seems to be a longer than usual pause to let the ink dry before the printer flips the page over and prints on the reverse side.

The price is steep, but as would be expected for a HP accessory.If you do a lot of two sided printing, this accessory is a major convenience.

Pure junk & bad HP tech support
The Two-Sided Duplexer is a cheap, plastic piece of junk. It is not made with any serious quality, at all. There's no way I would recommend buying this device.

Secondly, my experience with HP in dealing with a replacement, was not easy or pleasant. The representative was incompetent and was not able to troubleshoot the matter. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with this person and after giving out all sorts of info, the rep. was supposed to send me a replacement. Two months later...I still had not received anything.

I called HP Customer Care and found out that they had, for some unknown reason, cancelled the order. Nobody knew why. Anyway, then they told me that since there was only a 90 day warranty on the Duplexer and I was out of warranty, I would have to pay for shipping costs!! I explained to the rep. that the only reason it was out of warranty was because they had failed to send me the replacement!! In fact, the Duplexer was under warranty when I first contacted HP about the problem.

The rep. said that he had to turn the matter over to a "case manager" in order to see what they can do to resolve this issue. So more time was spent. Eventually, the matter was not resolved to my satisfaction and the replacement did not work right either.

In the final analysis, the Duplexer is not worth the money and is pure junk and HP's tech support is very poor. My understanding is that HP out-sources their customer service and tech support. This makes for a difficult conversation because these reps. don't speak English very well and their comprehension of the language is made more difficult when you're trying to explain technical details. To make matters worse, the first rep. I spoke with sounded as though this was her first day on the job.

Lastly, HP is screwing over American workers and not serving its' customers very well by out-sourcing its' tech support jobs. In the future, I will be looking to computer manufacturers who keep as many jobs in the U.S. as possible. ... Read more

The Ultimate Road Warrior Case
I travel almost every weekend, and have to lug my Toshiba Satellite Pro and Dell DLP Projector with me, along with a change of clothes, toiletries, and other miscellaneous "stuff." Until I found this case, I was making do with a wheeled carry-on suitcase and an over-the-shoulder laptop case.

The Mobile Office holds everything I need and it is much lighter than my suitcase. The telescoping handle is easy to use, and the wheels give this case a smoother ride than my car.

There are four zippered compartments in this case, with lots of pockets and other organizational helps. Here's the lowdown on how I use this case: The projector and cables go in the deep rear compartment, with clothes and misc. in the next compartment. I removed the nylon laptop case and dividers (for files or whatever) and put my laptop in the next zippered compartment. The large laptop (it has a 15" screen) fits easily. The small compartment in the front has several places to hold cell phone, wallet, credit cards and ID, pens, etc.

Great Sleeve - Just Needs A Handle

Doesn't work with a 15.4 wide screen
I purchased this in hopes that it would fit my Toshiba A75-s206 15.4 wide screen.Well the dimensions for the laptop pocket on the case do fit my laptop very snuggly, but to get it in the pocket causes the laptop to have undue pressure on it when trying get it in.If this design unzipped allowed the pocket to unzip and lay the laptop in it would work perfectly.The pocket is a half pocket that you slide the laptop into.

So I am returning it and going with a Targus CPT300 or 400. I learned that you want your laptop case dimensions to be a little bit bigger than the actual laptop it self.Or designed better for a snug fit.

Intended for use on the corporate intranet or over the Internet, Access 2002 is the latest version of Microsoft's popular database application. Designed to integrate with a variety of sources and viewers (including Web browsers), Access users can convert forms and reports into Web pages, and edit these Data Access Pages from within their browsers. Access 2002 now includes support for XML, the Extensible Markup Language standard, allowing users to export their databases to an XML document that can be viewed in any browser with HTML 4.0 support. XML support runs both ways: XML documents can also be imported into a Jet or SQL Server database.

With this new version, Access users can link Data Access Pages or other database files to SQL Server services without the need to perform any programming. In fact, many projects in Access can be handled with minimal or no coding required. A variety of helpful wizards walk you through the steps of creating different types of project databases.

Although it uses a new format for its database files, Access 2002 can open and edit Access 2000 files without converting them to the new format. Updated Review: MS Access 2002 (Room for Improvement)
Microsoft Access is one of the other core Office applications I use the most, but I'm a little frustrated when it comes to compatibility, Microsoft still has not gotten it right! They need to focus on consistency and not new features only (And there aren't many new features Access 2002 when it comes to the average user). One of my computers at home still uses Office 97 and I kept a copy of my music collection database in Access 97, in Access 2000 you were able to convert a 2000 database to 97 or vice-versa smoothly. In Access 2002 that feature has been giving me problems, when I convert a 2002 database to 97 it gets ruined. When I opened the converted database in 97 there is only one record (there should be 45 records in the table) in the database leaving me angry having to type back in every artiste data in Access 97 again! Don't think if you have the database in Access 2000 its smooth running all the way, it also gives minor and major problems converting with Access 2002. Now, if I had one little problem converting a database, think about the big business people who are keeping massive records of customers. Don't get me wrong, it's an easy to use application but I think it still has some jinx in it. Now Microsoft if only you would allow multiple installs in Office XP I would be able to upgrade that computer running Office 97. Please get it right!!!

Upgrade policy is too strict.
Microsoft is too bossy about their upgrade policies. I own Access 95, but the package says that I am not eligible for this upgrade. You have to have Access 97 or later in order to use this product.

I wanted a refund after trying this product.
Well I upgrade my Access 2000 to Access 2002. After entering in your product key it tells you it will only work for 50 days unless being activated by Microsoft. Ok, no big deal I did this via the internet. I had to reimage my PC recently due to it locking up and then it tells me it has already been registered on another PC and I need to call a number. Now this is irritating because I also like to use Access on a test machine of mine which tends to get reimaged a lot. Another problem is that I have to completely install Access 2000 before I install Access 2002. I know it's an upgrade, but if I ever need to reinstall why can't I simply use my old product key to enter to verify I had purchased the older version and not have to reinstall Access 2000?

Now first of all there are not a lot of new features in Access 2002 and I've noticed the file sizes grow larger faster and I need to constantly recompact my database.

Oh the product has a new look and it's a little prettier but it has no new "got to have it" features. Luckily one new feature is to save to the older versions of MS Access.

I like to purchase my software but I feel like I'm being treated like a criminal by Microsoft and given a hassle.

I've gone back to Access 2000 and next time I need a new database, it won't be Microsoft.

Access 2002 is a big pain if you're upgrading and need to use on multiple machines.(Even if you only use one copy at a time like I do.)

Pros and Cons
I recently bought the Hallmark Comedy Card Studio, with hopes of being able to never have to spend the money for great cards again, however, this software is VERY limited.There are only like 5 cards to choose from for "wedding".I don't think there is a good selection for birthday or any other "special occasion."So, if you are looking for a card software for lots of cards, try the Greeting Card Factory Deluxe.

The Greeting Card Factory Deluxe has an endless number of possibilities and if the wording isn't exactly what you want it's easy to swap phrases from another card or add things to personalize each greeting.It's VERY user friendly too!

I must say that the Calendar on the Hallmark Comedy Card Studio is GREAT!I love being able to track all the important dates in my life and have reminders come on my computer a few days in advance so I can get the card in the mail on time!Overall, I don't care for this software as a "Card Creator" but it's great for organizing addresses, bithdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other important dates with a few fun cards as a bounus!

I have windows XP--- Do you have Hallmark Comedy Studio that can be used on XP?Or Hallmark Studio software that contains MAXINE? If so, I would like to purchase it A.S.A.P.

Very Fun!
I've really enjoyed working with this software. Although it's not listed for XP, I've had no problems at all. The graphics are cute and it's easy to completely change and personalize the text. It prints beautifully and has several extra features...calendar, address book, reminders...which you may or may not use. Just a very nice way to bring a smile to someone's day.

A real laugh package
Like any card making program this Hallmark product has it's limitations but the contents really makes up for them.Great selection of cards to make.There is a selection of Maxine cards (a personal favorite) as well as many other Hallmark staples.
When you need a card in a hurry and you need it to be funny, this is well worth the price.

Could Be Better
This program has some cute cards you can make. Its not real simple to be creative with it, other than the standard desighns. Most cards you cant c personalize the cover. I copy from this program to Microsoft Home Publishing to have any creative control. ... Read more
