A comprehensive set of tools forthe Microsoft fan
I you love Microsoft products (like me) because they are simple, ready touse, intuitive, ... you might be disappointed by Site Server CommerceEdition 3.0. Don't think you will be able to use all of its features ifyou're not a software engineer. Don't even think you can do it if you neverinstalled NT or SQL server on a machine. Site Server Commerce Edition 3.0is a package. It contains products bought by Microsoft from other companiesand products specifically developped with integration in mind. Integrationwith Operating Systems from Microsoft (client and server OS). Integrationwith database engines (SQL server essentially, even if Oracle issupported). Integration with mail services (Exchange as a server, Outlookas a client). Developement tools (Visual Interdev, Visual Studio). If youknow all of these products you will not only love Site Server, you willlove it. If you don't know these products and technologies but you simplyhave an opportunity to use Site Server 3.0 (because somebody uses it inyour company), ask for Site Analyst. It's a wonderful and powerful toolbought by Microsoft that allow you to make an impressive report about aweb-site. I used it once for copyright holders. Totally blows

Wished I would have read the reviews first
I purchased this product without reading the reviews first, DON'T BUY THIS.I wasted time reading the instructions to figure out how to develop a commerce site and realized that numerous steps were skipped or out of order.I contacted technical support with questions and suggestions and their response was just as vague/unhelpful as the lame manual.I never did get the commerce features (tables) to work, but it looks like when you download orders or update products that the website has to be "locked" while you do this.What a pain!

JUNK - JUNK WASTE OF MONEY & TIME
No idea if it can work at all.Other owners specify Boomerang Software charges for all aspects of this product...extra!!NO DECENT DOCUMENTATION.Understand a totorial can only be had for extra money!

Nightmare Nightmare Nightmare!!!
Worse piece of software I have ever had the displeasure of using. I live in Mass and thought why not give them a try, they are from here, ha never again!

I'll explain just a few of problems with this software. Documentation comes in 2 books web building and e-commerce .....it covers the software functions accurately. No problem there the problem comes in it's not user friendly. You can't develop or customize freely, "shopping cart side of the software" you have to pay Boomerang for that. So if you want a to add to our delete parts of the shopping cart you're out of luck, unless you are a programmer and love getting into the middle of database structure that's laid out in the templates provided. No way to add in options that aren't default, such as paying by paypal, discover, or many others not listed in the program. You have to pay extras for that. Your choice is limited to what's there on their templates and that's it. I could go on and on but this would become a book. This software is so limiting that after spending weeks on it......I was so disgusted and frustrated that I started looking for something else.

The people at Boomerang did answer all emails to their credit. The price was reasonable @59.99 , but has taught me a very valuable lesson indeed, "You really do get what you pay for" I will never forget that phrase for as long as I live now.

I develop web sites for a hobby, so I have seen good software packages and bad ones, but not of this caliber. I was in a hurry and needed a shopping cart for a friend that I was helping. She's ona win2k system which is part of the reason I looked into this program.

On a positive side, the web developing part of the software is actually pretty good......but that's not what I bought this for......I wanted a shopping cart for e-commerce, not web building.....it's pretty much wysiwyg.If they named it "Webshop web building" that would have made me look elsewhere for a shopping cart. Their idea of a shopping cart ..., IMHO, but what do I know.....I was stupid enough to buy it. I just know I will never buy anything from this company again!

Waste of Time and money
...BR>I do NOT recommend this software for anyone considering building a personal or e-commerce web site.The package comes with 2 manuals but there are NO recommendations as to which one you should start with.If building an e-commerce site, you are forced to pay an additional $... for a "credit card license".PayPal, I believe is free.You are forcing me to "shell out" additional cash just to test my application. No tutorial comes with the software, you must pay extra for that.You are restricted to ASP.You need an additional tool, which you must purchase for JSP.There is nothing intutive about the software and it is difficult to use.I do not understand how they sold so many copies as they claim.

Don't expect much
This program was really a disappointment. As mentioned previous, the templates are real weak and limited and really offer no value.The e-commerce capabilities are not intuitive and overall I found it to be a waste of my money.Shareware offers better products. ... Read more

Like a VCR for your Internet
This software allows me to record and then play back work tasks I perform everyday on the web. I'm using it to help manage our company's website (downloading back up files and testing updates).My wife started using it to log in to eBay and Amazon.She's now using it to log in to her credit card statement online.She loves it and the title, "Like a VCR for your Internet" is her expression.

What's most impressive about this product is how easy it is to use.After using this product for about two weeks now, I am still excited about what the is product is able to do and am finding more uses for it both at work and outside of work.

Nice options are available that let you set your security level and recording options.

CI Host did not fulfill their contract with our Company
Our saga is long and drawn out. We purchased "E-Business in a Box" on 4-19-02 and were supposed to be up and running in 7 to 10 days. Our store finally became functional on 9-12-02 although there had not been any customization of the store as their sales information stated was to be provided. The entire store was an out-of-the-box, here-ya-go, you-figure-it-out setup.

Our main problem, we later found out, is the turnover rate of the employees at CI Host. Our original web designer that we met left CI Host and for some reason our account was put in the "done" pile. Nearly everyone we talked to would be gone within the month so our complaints never got addressed properly. Once we finally got someone to listen to us and try to address our problems, our lawyer sent them a letter at our request to cover our butts to indicate that they were not fulfilling their contract. At that point, all work stopped dead in it's tracks and our web site sat there for the last 5 months of our original 12 month hosting contract.

To top it off, when the year contract was up, they sent us a renewal e-mail which I replied to stating that we were not renewing with them. They took $300 out of our checking account anyway and we are currently trying to get that money back. ... Read more

you get what you pay for
have you ever heard the saying " You get what you pay for"?Well with E business in a box, this statement is true.Lousy customer service, lousy designers and lousy website.I got a generic website design and when I complained they told me that THEY PUT THE NEW DESIGNERS ON THE E-BUSINESS ACCOUNTS AS THESE ARE THE LOWEST LEVEL.Yes, they told me that.They agreed to give me a new more qualified designer.I still ended up with a generic site. When I complained again they told me if I upgraded (payed more money) I could get a better site.If you want a professinal site DO NOT use E-business in a box.If you are a grandmother who is selling your knitting in your spare time and what a site so your family can see it then this might be for you. but... still I doubt it

Thank goodness for this product! Loved e-business in a box
I bought this about 6 months ago and never got around to activating it. However, i finally broke it open and read thru the simple 2 page instructions, logged on to their web site and enterd my code. I was then shown an easy to use worksheet with step by step instructions to give CIHOST my content for my web site. It took me about 1 hour to think up all my content, page titles and choose the graphics I liked for my web site. I gave them all the info in 24 hours later they emailed me and showed me 2 different designs complete witha little logo for me to look at. I loved them both but decided on a more corporate appeal. After I approved it the next day they had it done and posted my web site live on the net. It took less than 3 days from start to finish and I was live with a new web site, shopping cart, email domain name AND EVERTYING!!! this was SOOOOOOOOO EASY I loveit!! No Control
This is a great product if the company using it wants limited control over, not just design, but also functionality.I bought this product withthe assumption that it would help me to better design and control myecommerce sight and as the book tells it, grow.The control is primarily aplace called www.ecplace.com. This product should be advertised as anecommerce interface to a third party vendor to market your ecommerce sight. When attempting to use the created product I found this ecplace sitecontrols the transactions.Also, the enquiry form was actually atwww.ecplace.com, even though while building the site or reading the bookmakes no mention that the product is sharing pages with a company on thenet. I give this software a very low mark for the fact that it should beadvertised as an interface and not a true ecommerce production tool. Smells of follow on expenses that small or new businesses doesn't need.Iwould stay clear of it.

I contacted a few web developers to set up an e-commerce web site with my current company and received quotes ranging in the thousands!

I was then recommended ecBuilder, and it has been excellent for me! for under $ I was prompted through 12 screens from company information to catalog itemsto what design template and colour scheme I would like to pick. In a shortafternoon I had my 100 catalog items set up with shopping cart etc. tostart selling. I loved the fact that the SSL security was provided with theproduct and hosted by the manufacturer. I have finally been using myscanner at home, and updating my catalog items and pictures regularly. Inone click I can simply change the price of one item to a sale item! verydynamic and I totally recommend this product to anyone who wants to get onthe e-commerce train!

I hear that their new version ecBuilder Pro 4.5supports real time transactions and up to 5000 catalog items and I will beupgrading very soon.

I am also able to export my ecOrderdesk into mycontact manager Maximizer 5.0 in turn keeping up good customer relations!
