Amazon.com Product Description The voice-mail capability provides secure, customizable voice mail, and offers you the ability to create multiple business departments and personal extensions for your home or office. Users can retrieve voice mail from any telephone and transfer messages between mailboxes. The voice-mail system lets you set up and maintain a fax-on-demand service (99 documents per mailbox) to automatically deliver informational faxes to your customers. A new feature allows voice-mail messages to be routed directly to an e-mail account. Retrieve them, listen to them, even forward them to other accounts. If you've got a pager, you can receive automatic notification of new messages. HotFax Message Center even allows you to route calls to different mailboxes based on caller ID information. Set up an unlimited number of voice mailboxes, and identified calls are routed to the appropriate mailbox automatically. HotFax Message Center empowers e-mail with new fax and voice capabilities. Now you can send and receive faxes and voice-mail messages directly to any e-mail address. When you send a fax to an e-mail account, the recipient can read it on screen, print it, or forward it to another e-mail account, just like an ordinary message. HotFax Message Center will route voice-mail messages to any e-mail account you specify as a compressed attachment. You play it back just like any PC audio file and then save or forward it as you like. Reviews (15)
I'm using this product to support a remote office call-in system and due to the above non-support, I finally had to buy another copy (downloaded this time) to get my remote ops back up. I feel like an extortion victim. I'll never buy from these guys again. Stars: one for product, ZERO for customer support. I am now searching for a replacement.

I've now upgraded to WinXP and I can't get it to work.It installs fine, recognizes and initiates my modem, but it won't send out a fax, nor will it let me make any settings changes. It acts as if there is no phone line connected. Also, good luck finding any support whatsoever. The original maker Communique, doesn't even list this product on their website. Stay far, far away!
Unfortunately, my modem has no voice features so I cannot enjoy the voice features of this product yet.Even treated as a fax-only software, it is still a great deal doing the same as Winfax does at $60 less.

Amazon.com Review While installation of QuickLink Mobile 2.0 might be a quick and easy process, you should make sure your phone is compatible with the program before youpurchase the software. You can verify this by going to www.ql2k.com and viewingan updated list of compatible phones. If your phone type is on the list, you cansign up to receive a free cable to connect your cell phone to your laptop serial port (ours took less than a week to arrive). You might want to take careof this as soon as you purchase the software so you don't have to wait too longto get started. If your type of phone is not on the list, QuickLink has acustomer-service number for you to call; however, it's probably better to find adifferent application, or to upgrade to a data-enabled phone. After you've configured your dialup networking and created an account for yourwireless phone, you're ready to dial up. After you've connected to the Internet, you can surf the Web, check e-mail, and keep on top of the day's headlines. Onefeature that we especially liked was the Wireless Internet Accelerator, whichallowed us to filter Web graphics and speed up connection times. In addition, you have the option to preview e-mail messages, so that you can read the headerswithout downloading the entire message--again, saving precious memory. Theapplication even includes QuickLink Fax, which allows you to send and receivefaxes using your cell phone. QuickLink Mobile 2.0 also includes monitoring features to help you control yourcellular Internet usage. However, keep in mind that surfing the Web with yourcell phone can eat away at cellular time and battery life quickly. Still, ifyou're always on the go and can't live without your Internet fix, QuickLinkMobile 2.0 will keep you connected when you need it the most. --GiseleToueg --This review was written for a previous version. I would definitely recommend anyone try the 30 day trial. They have a newer product that allows remote access to your email, contacts, files and such (according to tech support anyway), but the remote access appears to be the only difference from this product ... and if it ain't broke! ... Amazon.com Review Video phoning, Internet paging, and faxing are combined in one easy interface. Add audio and video snippets to e-mail, manage voice mail and fax scheduling remotely, and set up your own unattended bulletin board system (BBS), using regular phone lines or a dedicated Internet connection. The learning curve is pretty gentle, too; while some of the newer or more advanced features might take some tweaking, you can jump right in and start making calls or faxes right away. Don't worry about translating your contact data from other programs, either--Communicate! i2000 offers plenty of import and linking features so you should be able to access any information from almost any software. If you want to consolidate your communications software into one inexpensive, comprehensive package, Communicate! i2000 should be your first choice. When you're videoconferencing, reading e-mail, sending faxes, and on the phone with your stockbroker simultaneously, you'll wonder how long it'll take to get your jetpack and food pills. --Rob Lightner Reviews (5)
But be sure to have a compatable modem before you start
so i upgraded to version 5 one modem manufacturers tech support told me to give up on the software and move on being a little hard headed i hired a certified technician to come to my office to straighten it out, he removed sound cards, configured, re-configured, tried all 4 of the modems i had purchased, tried windows 98, windows me, downloaded drivers from obscure web sites, smoked a pack of cigarettes and left
I'm disabled and depend on phone communications to make a living.I wanted the best. After 3 months, 2 modems, at least 100 hours of frustration and a dozen emails to the support department -- this software sits on the shelf collecting dust!It is completely unusable. They assured me that it would provide basic phone functionality with my current modem (Creative Blaster) by email `before I bought it'... but it does not and `after I bought' they're story changed. Hear's what you're buying: conversations fade out (you think the other person paused but no...), you must adjust the volume between dialing and talking or your ears will bleed (the dialing beep can be heard in the next city), it won't `beep' after the answering machine message (you have to add your own), it doesn't notify you when a message is waiting, if you link it to Outlook it zaps Outlook every time you look up a number, and on occasion it cuts messages off at 3 seconds... and there's more. The over all design is terrible, its hard to use and its completely over engineered. 'After' I bought it they said 'oh, won't work with that modem'.I switched to my 2nd PC which had 'approved modem' on their list... same thing!Which says to me that they would have me go out and purchase another modem and install it for nothing. The next thing they told me was, 'Oh, you must not use your sound card' - well, who needs multimedia anyway.BTW, freeware works fine with my modem and sound card... *freeware*! Perhaps, if you work down the modem list and get just the right one, devote your entire sound system to Communicate! i2000 and devote the next 3 months of your life to messing with all this... you might be able to phone home!I never even got to try the other features. Of course I'm beyond the refund period.I'm stuck, they won't refund my money (they got me!).Money truly wasted but it is the `time' I wasted on it that really cost me. I'd sell it cheap but... I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy. Yes... Commnicate! I2000's features sound so nice don't they -- unfortunately you need to press `redial' on this one and move on... as quickly as possible!

In any case, I can not get this to work with the latest version of OS 10.2.whatever (using the latest update from Smith Micro) and am giving up on Smith Micro... I was able to use it (sometimes) under OS 10.1, but even then it had problems.Another big disappoinment was the fact that I could not import my fax numbers from FAXstf for OS 9 (which is a real drag as I have hundreds of numbers in my fax phonebook). It is integrated with the Apple Address book (rather then having it's own phonebook) which is kind of funky as it makes for a lot of unneccessary steps. To send a fax, I have to scroll down the file menu to print, then go down the pop-up list to set the address, then open the address book, THEN click on the address I want and move it into the FAXstf menu.THEN, one has to set all the other preferences (like rather or not you want a cover letter or even something as simple as rather or not to put a 1 before long distance numbers) each and every time.It is a real pain not to be able to set general fax preferences and be done with it). I used FAXstf for OS 9 for a long time and was very satisfied with it.It's too bad their version for OS X is so lame.
One of the most important things that the installation neglects to mention is don't install the software anywhere else except in the default location. Even though you have that option, if you do install in another directory or disk, the update will not recognize it and you'll have to delete and reinstall it again. And since FAXSTF gives itself root ownership, deleting it takes a little work. So install it into the default location. The second thing is to make sure you download the most current version. The version on disk is for versions up to OS 10.1.2. If your use OS 10.1.3 or higher you must download the update from their site. That said, the installation into the default directory is easy and painless. So it the update (which requires a re-boot of the machine), but must be downloaded . Once the program is installed, faxing is easy - go to the printing center and add the modem as a printer. Now from any application, you simply select the fax as a printer and you're done.
