Where the heck is the Asian Language support?
This program (my computer came with WordPerfect 11) makes even some of the easiest functions hard to use.It looks like MSWord, but a lot things are hard to find and are lacking.My biggest complaint is that you can't type Chinese characters on it.Without this, I can't do my work.Features such as "crop" "contrast" and "word count" and "header/footer" which would have been so easy on MS Word to FIND and CHANGE to my liking are now hidden from me (navigating is a huge pain!)or else isn't even available.I don't have time to waste trying to find ways to just type accents using the keyboard (which you can do on MS Word, wasn't able to find a way to do that on WPerfect, even though I used the help index)without having to go to the "insert symbols" button on the menu and choosing from there.Overall, although changing and playing around with margins and indentations are easier in WordPerfect than MS Word, it's still a huge pain to navigate and use.I hate WordPerfect with a passion.WHY did my computer have to come with this???

The WP11 Previewer Crashes The Program
WP 11's previewer crashes the program every time you try to preview a document created with WP10 or earlier, or if you try to preview an MS Word document.

WP 12 is excellent.WP 10 is stable also.WP 11 should never have been shipped with its defective previewer.I was forced to reinstall WP 10 for day-to-day use.I used WP 11 strictly to create PDFs.

WP 12 has excellent stability and better functionality than WP11.

WP 11 is a defective program.I should be given a refund for the money I spent to buy WP11.

Skip 11 and go right to 12.The WP12 demo is available now, and WP 12 ships later in the month.

As along time user....
I have been a user since Version 1, with a very low registration number.I upgraded from Ver 6 to 8, then to 9, and it crashed and wrecked my system.I rebuilt my system, and reinstalled Ver 8.I was a bit hesitant to go to 11, but did.No problems with the installation.However, I kept the previous versions of Presentations and am glad I did.I find importing jpg files into Presentations 11 in draw mode distorts the picture.But there are nice features of Presentations 11 that are superior to that in Ver 8. I create some of the material in Presentations Ver 11, and save and then open into Version 8 to finish it off for imported graphics.I also like the clip art better in Ver 8 than that for Ver 11.Overall, I guess I am disappointed that Ver 11 is not a leap ahead of Ver 8.Perhaps the only compelling reason to upgrade is if you are at a previous version that will soon require the full price rather than the upgrade price for a future upgrade.I cannot stand WORD and greatly prefer Word Perfect but Corel needs to do more to justify an upgrade than simply issue a new version.

Not as good as expected
I have been a long-time fan of Word Perfect - since Version 4.0 days.But so far I have been disappointed with 11.0.I do not see much change from 11.0, the upload time is slow and it continuously freezes my computer (using Windows Me).In addition, I understood the upgrade was to include Paradox (database) but apparently it does not.

Consider skipping this upgrade
I upgraded from WP 8 and, after installing and using WP11, I went back to WP 8.Biggest problem is that the upgrade is not seamless.For example, WP 11 does not fully support Corel Addressbook--they expect you to use Microsoft Outlook for your addressbook.If you want to continue to use Corel Addressbook, you get a scaled-back version of it which isn't as useful as the Version 8 Addressbook.Also, I had problems with some document conversion issues.On the whole, if I had to do this again, I would not buy this product. ... better than nothing
This is easily the most annoying program I've owned. Although it does help once in a while to open the occasional .doc or .ppt file that I receive in e-mail, it makes the process so agonizing it's only slightly better than not opening the file at all. About half the time the file opens up perfectly. The rest of the time the application opens (s-l-o-w-l-y...) then a blank document comes up. It claims to be the file in question, but there is nothing in the document at all. But the same file just might open up fine the next time you start your computer.You never know what you'll get.This happens not only with translated documents, but even with documents created in Thinkfree itself. I recommend it only a stop-gap measure for those who have a lot of time to waste trying to get MS files to open.

Piece of junk ...
What a piece of junk! It's slow to load and it misses many basic conversions when opening Word documents. The PowerPoint function borders on useless. I also cannot get my version to print. A similarly priced downloadable word processor for Mac OSX, Mellel, is far superior. It even does a better job of opening Word documents, and it doesn't advertise that function as a major feature, the way Thinkfree does.

Amazingly inexpensive software with expected limitations
Thinkfree Office is a simple and inexpensive software program that allows you to read and write MS documents without actually owning Microsoft Office.

If you can't afford and/or don't like MS Office, for whatever reason, and you're looking for something that will allow you to access MS created documents and share with others, this product is for you.

Drawbacks:The largest is that Thinkfree Office does not translate everything.It seems to have most trouble with formating and special fonts.However, it always gets the actual text correct.Secondly, it's also on the slow side.And lastly, it's interface doesn't feel Mac friendly.You can definitely see its roots with Microsoft.

I would have to disagree with those who say that the Write module is simply an upgraded version of SimpleText or TextEdit.Write has a menu bar that competes easily with AppleWorks.I was honestly amazed when I saw the features it had given what I paid for the software.

MS Office sells for several hundred dollars and is a RAM and hard drive pig.Thinkfree is an exceptionally inexpensive (especially if you buy it used) alternative that will allow you to access MS documents and create new ones.It has its problems, yes, but if you're getting what you pay for.If you want something that works exactly like Word, Excel or PowerPoint then you'll have to buy MS Office.

Worst software in 16 years !
It doesn't work.Period.
No response from tech support after 2 inquiries over 10 days.
History:it wouldn't open _any_ of my word doc's:tech support advised re-install.[no-brainer, non-responsive advice]Nontheless,I did this TWICE, and it still wouldn't work.Emailed tech again, twice, still no response after 11-12 days.In other words, there is no tech support.
I got a trial .v of icWord, and it did everything AND it costs less.

This is first junk software I've had in 16 yrs as a Mac user.There should be a no-star rating for these guys.

Not the best choice ...
I had to purchase this product for OSX while waiting to be able to upgrade my Microsoft Word program. It opened slowly, and much of the formatting I regularly use - including headers, footers, and tables - were lost when I attempted to open the documents. It seems to be a simple upgraded version of Simple Text. If you need something a bit more Word compatible - I'm afraid you'll have to buy Microsoft Word - even a much older version running on Classic 9 does better. ... Read more

Great Office Suite
Neither of the previous reviews actually discussed the software, so I thought that I might.The software is wonderful, particularly on Windows and Linux based systems (the Mac port needs some work).It is easy to use, and so much cheaper (either free or $10) than competitive products.Unless you work in a workgroup that all needs an Office Suite that is integrated with your calendar & email functionality, this Office Suite deserves a try!

Open Office
True, you can download this software for free, but if you have don't have DSL or Broadband it can take about 6 -7 hours. If you purchase the book "OpenOffice.org Resource Kit" You get the software plus 1020 page manual. The book qualifies for Amazon's super saver shipping and if you include Arcmedia's shipping charge its only about $14 more than the software alone.

The best wordprocessing package in the World!
Wordperfect is the best word processor in the world.I am not one of those nut-cases who doesn't know how to use anything else.I am very good at dozens of wordprocessing packages, I have been forced to use many of them.Wordperfect is more user friendly, more powerful.I can get my work done much faster.It is easier to do special formatting and make things look exactly like you want.Then, you can save it as a PDF without any extra software!This may not be a big deal, but wordperfect files are at least half the size (and sometimes up to 1/10 the size) of the exact same MS word document.This is another discover that lets me know that the Corel software was created by better programmers.In addition, Corel support staff is much more friendly.When I bought my wordperfect, I was given my very own personal support guy.I never used him, because I am pretty comuter saavy, but it did make me feel special.

Darn Better Than Word
Ease with word processors are a function of what you are used to. I got used to WordPerfect in the early 1990s while still using a Macintosh and remain faithful despite the transition to Windows and Dell. The Corel package remains so much better than Word. No dumb office assistant. And you can access the codes. Microsoft buries the cheat codes that format the documents and if you are writing a very large report or book - that can become an enormous difficulty when finalizing the format for a publisher. Corel Presentations is so much better than PowerPoint and offers fewer difficulties. As for the crashing of the program that some of the reviewers below complain about, I remain convinced that Microsoft made it difficult for alternate office suites to work on Windows, though a lot fewer problems have occured on XP. I blame the operating system, not the office suite. The biggest hassle can come when you have a publisher or office that only accepts the Microsoft package. Provided one formats from Corel to Word first (and not within Word itself) under the Save As option, I have had few problems. Office may dominate the market but I'm not a fan.

I love this program
I took classes in Wordperfect 8 and word. Wordperfect is better hands down. I have upgraded to 9 and I now have the full version of 10 with dragon. It has never crashed on me. I have a sony computer that came with 10 because it works so well with xp. I bought the whole version and I will not use word. It is to slow and is terrible for mail merge. The problems that these people are having is becuse they do not know how to use the program. I am also surpised that amozon does not say that it works with xp. Wordperfect 2000 does not work with xp put 2002 does. That is why Sony has it on all of there computers and not word. I am using the professioal ediditon. Sony put the standard with my computer and it work fine.

DOES NOT HANDLE WELL
I HAVE AN OEM VERSION OF OFFICE 2002 STANDARD EDITION AND I AM HAVING NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. Great for College Students
ENCARTA: In college, I can't use an encyclopedia as a source on a paper.However, I can look things up with the encyclopedia, so I have some clue about the topic and can determine where I should look to future research the topic.

MONEY: This is really good for keeping track of all of my bills (tuition, books, car payments, insurance, credit cards, etc.)This program takes a little bit to get used to and you have to keep using it to see how effective it is, but it helps make managing money a little bit easier.

PICTURE IT! PHOTO: I have a program that came with my scanner that does a pretty good job.When I want to add the 'little extras' to graphics, I use this program.I can create effects with this program.

At first I was reluctant to purchase this software (could be I was intimidated by the newness and unfamiliarity?). Almost Perfect!
This is a simple but commendable collection of popular Microsoft products. Encarta Encyclopedia is great for looking up interesting articles and helping people getting information interesting topics relating to our world today. It's very helpful to kids who want to get the most of their education by getting insightful information about topics relating to class work. Money is a wonderful solution that provides many home users with the ability to manage their money well, with features for banking online and managing household finances. Picture It! Photo is satisfactory for removing a flaw or two in Photos, but will never compare to other photo-editing programmes such Adobe Photoshop Elements which I think is worth it more than this low end photo-editor from Microsoft. Office Portfolio is garbage I purchased it separately and was very much disappointed. The templates in Microsoft Office are much better, I would advise you stick to those. Overall its not a bad collection, but I think it could do with a little more spice, maybe if they dropped in one of the MS Office apps such Excel it would have made it a little bit worthier. If I could recommend another product it would be Corel WordPerfect Family Pack 4 or even Microsoft's own Works Suite 2003. ... Read more

more work needed
My fisrt impression was wow, what a great product, until I used it....
I have the Windows version and found the following problems:
1.) Does not export to ACT, even though the product claims it will.
2.) Does not allow you to import from one database you created into another.
3.) Does not support contacts/addressbooks stored on a shared/network drive. If you have an Exchange or Domino server you will need to create a local file to store your contacts.
4.) Could not get synchronization to work with two pocket PCs, and one Palm OS device.
5.) character recognition accuracy is really poor for cards that have a dark background or pictures.

The only plus is the hardware's small footprint. It is also a twain based color scanner which you can use to scan in old pictures.
