Great Product!!Easy to use.
This program was great right from the beginning.Easy to use, don't even need to use the manual.Very compatible with many operating systems.I couldn't imagine using any other software.You can upload multiple listings at one time and it links with your Ebay profile to make things even easier.CHECK OUT THIS SOFTWARE!!

MUST HAVE!!!!

Consumers beware
At first glance it seems like a impressive product, but using it quickly identified that it wasn't ready for release to consumers.
1. Many error messages are in German!.
2. No guidance on how to set up the folder structure for uploading images, and the only way to figure it out is by trial and error, which brings up the third problem...
3. You cannot test upload, each upload is a complete auction (which by the way costs to do), so plan on having the first 5 or so auctions without any pictures.
4. When I was able to figure out the imbedded pictures, I discovered that the ebay images still were blank, pointing instead to an empty placeholder.
5. Frequently the example templates included had text run beyond the screen width.
6. Web site support is non-existant. When I attempted to register the product it was not even listed on the company website! Further the links to contact the company were all circles back to the place you started from.

I deal with integrating new applictions in a network environment frequently, and this is one of the most dissapointing purchases I have made in some time. If you are considering this product, I recommend you look for an alternative product, or at the least download the demo and try it first.

Very Buggy and no replies from email support
I am an advanced computer user who sells on eBay. This program seemed like a great time saver. Create auctions and upload nicely laid out pages with multiple pictures and save money too! Sounds great! Don't think so. Every auction I've uploaded requires revisions thru eBay's site with pretty deep HTML editing. I give it 2 stars because it has nice templates which can be edited, you can insert multiple pictures at no charge (you better have an moderate understanding of HTML though) and it has improved my HTML skills (that was never my mission here). You'd be better off buying HTML for Dummies if that is your interest.
The users manual leaves a bit to be desired and the requirement for an ftp site to upload your auctions will be a problem for all but the more knowledgeable internet users. There are not many free ftp sites out there any longer.
Tried to get support from the Data Becker site on the problems. It's been 2 weeks and multiple emails. Still no reply. Oh well live and learn.

The manual isincomplete, almost useless.
I was using [Andale] and also tried auctionworks to post and manage my auctions, they were great and very simple to use, but you have to pay a monthly fee, so I decided to switch to this program. The features seem great, but I can't make it work. You have to have your own web site, free or paid, to upload the auction you create with this software, to [an auction website]. To this moment, I have checked the manual several times, and don't understand how to do it. The website is useless. I'm going to try with email support, but it is not the way it should work. The software assumes that the user knows how to set a website, and how to do a lot of things before making this thing work. In the end, I think that the program could be great if it were more easy to setup.

What a complete package!
I have sold at least three different software packages in my previous business as a consultant and am truly amazed at the capabilities being offered by Simply Accounting Pro at such affordable pricing. I am starting a ditribution business and looked extensively at Quick Books Premier but then decided on Simply Accounting because of its completeness, ease of use and of course the cost. I highly recommend it and to those who don't care about accounting and want a simple way to track their transactions, like our friend who has given a poor rating to this package, I recommend using a spreadsheet. It is like wanting to drive and not wanting to learn the code!

Don't bother.
Who are they trying to kid. If you don't care to know much about accounting, then don't bother trying this product. They tout the ease of use of this product because it "uses wizards." However, given that I'm a leading usability specialist, I can tell you that just because they use wizards doesn't mean that it's easy to use. As a matter of fact, it's laborious. Granted, my only experience is with the free trial period, but I went through the trouble of importing my QuickBooks file only to find out that Simply Accounting didn't import any of my accounts. So I had to try to set up my accounts from scratch.

The first thing that I noticed that might be trouble was that you have to create arcane 4-digit account numbers for every type of account you set up. Like I care what number it is, it's just a checking account!

I run a small consulting company, 3 people, and selected "professional services" as the type of company, yet the software set itself up for inventory, sales of inventory, tax on inventory etc. As I said, I set it up as a professional services company. We don't have no stinking inventory!!!

My first task in the free trial period was to send out an invoice. I never completed the task. The software had me jump through hoops, asking me to set up primary bank accounts (which I could not figure out), accounts for sales, etc. I finally gave up. As I said, I'm a usability specialist and I base my usability evaluations on how well the user can complete their task with the product, not on how many wizards the product has. Based on my (limited) experience with this product, this software failed to help me complete the most basic of tasks, send out an invoice.

While I despise QuickBooks and the way Intuit treats its users, I still haven't found a suitable replacement for the small business person. Simply Accounting certainly isn't a good choice, unless of course you are an accountant. But I'm not. I'm just another small business person who doesn't want to spend a moment more than I have to to manage my finances. I need to focus my time on my business, not contorting myself every which way just to use a piece of software.

In summary, though I was looking for anything that could even remotely replace the big gorilla, QuickBooks, sadly Simply Accounting isn't it.

Worth it!
The $100 investment in worth it! We've had to pay our tax preparer over $800 to calculate our taxes this year. We keep good records and decided to find out how close we would come to his calculations by doing it ourselves with Turbotax Business. Let's just say that next year we'll be doing our taxes ourselves.

A sink hole of time and worse than useless
This program proposes to assist you with filing corporate (including "S" corp) taxes.

It deserves a rating of minus 10 stars.

It is hardly more than a fill-in-the-blank set of continuous forms.It assumes you are fully familiar with the entire multi-thousand page Federal Tax Code and offers no real on-screen assistance.In a word, it is a (...) waste of time, a vast black hole of time wasteage.

Besides, it demands a fearfully long registration process just to refuse the incredibly stupid junk e-mail that Intuit will smother you in if you do not turn off its relentless marketing junk.

For all of this, you should pay $100?Not next year.

streets ahead of the competition
This year I had the unenviable experience of buying both sets of software: Tax Cut Home & Business, which failed me utterly; and TurboTax Business, which worked just fine.

Tax Cut worked fine for my 1040, and with some difficulties it also worked for a 1041 trust return. But it simply could not file a corporate tax return, 1120-A. The software was buggy, it wouldn't print a sample return, and a week before the deadline it still hadn't updated the forms. Worst of all, an attempt to update had corrupted the file. (See the agonized comments on the Tax Cut Home & Business page.)

So I ordered TurboTax Business and paid for express delivery. It worked just fine, though of course I had to enter everything anew because the Tax Cut file was corrupted.

In the future, I will stick with TurboTax Business, and add a cheapo version of the personal tax software, which is available and cheapest. (I prefer to deal directly with the forms, without interference from an "interview.") But I will never again try to save a buck with Tax Cut Home & Business.

What's all the fuss???
I am not a CPA, nor am I a tax expert.However, I simply read the instructions, followed the recommendations, referred to my prior year 1120S for some minor guidance, and all seems to have gone just fine.The tax return went in the mail yesterday!

Maybe I'm blessed with a simple business model or lack some of the complications and complexities compared to the other reviewers but I really cannot complain about this product.I have had frustrating experiences with Intuit in the past but not this time.

My final comment is this: if the $100 I spent on this software helps me to permanently avoid the annual $2,000 payment to my CPA for tax preparation, then I'll gladly buy Turbo Tax Business year after year.The $1,900 difference will go to a Hawaiian vacation!Mahalo, Intuit!

Your killing me!
In my opinion, I'm sorry to say, TurboTax Business is about as useless as you can get.During the last three years I've used it and the same deficiencies continue with more being added "every day".

The most disturbing deficiency is when errors are found during the review.First of all these errors are simple reconciliations of two lines in the return.The software performs the math and numbers are entered through worksheets.However, when the review finds a reconciliation error, all the software says is something like "line 6 on form x is not equal to line 9 on form y".When you search for help, all it says is "line 6 on form x must equal to line 9 on form y", and that's all.To resolve the problem I've had to read the appropriate pubs, instructions, and forms myself.

Also, the itemization of the deduction isn't much better than paper and pencil. To use the software you need to know more than the software.

Premier not worth it; stick with Deluxe
I've been using TurboTax for many years. Until now, I've always used TurboTax Deluxe for the free state download. This year, I decided to try TurboTax Premier for the "Tax-Slashing Tools".

I don't think the Premier features (over "Deluxe") are worth the extra cost. What you get is a bunch of very basic tax advice related to sale of equity investments, use of IRAs, and contributions to 401(k) accounts ("contribute as much as you can"). It also contains some stuff related to rental properties, but I don't own any real estate, so it doesn't apply to me.

I will be sticking with Deluxe from now on. Maybe if I buy a house I'll try out Premier in the future, but not until then.

I have tried TaxCut (2000 or 2001, I don't remember), but I didn't like it compared with my previous use of TurboTax. So until TurboTax changes for the worse, I don't plan to try TaxCut again.

Last minute buyers should avoid
TurboTax Premier would not install on my XP system.It just hung during the part where fonts are installed.This bug is known to tech support but nothing they told me or sent me worked. Getting help was arduous.I'm going back to TaxCut.

Not as good as last year's
I was very happy with last year's version for 2002 tax returns. I own rental property and using TT helped guide me through depreciations and other considerations that I had done differently on my own. This year's edition of TT has become confusing and even completely passes over the deductions for automobile use. I've read a couple dozen of the many reviews for the Deluxe version and the same problems exist here. You'll have to download a fairly large update and you'll likely have problems with fonts. I realize the tax code has changed dramatically, but that doesn't let Intuit off the hook. Read the reviews of the Deluxe version and you'll likely be scared away.

Free support is non existent.

Saves money, poor execution
I have used this product for 2 years and will probably purchase it again next year.I like having a resource for the estimates and have saved tons of money.I used to give 'garage sale' prices to my donations.The amounts provided by Its Deductible have been incredibly generous in comparison.I haven't had technical problems installing or otherwise, but its user interface is terrible.They definitely should make some serious modifications to its usability.I agree with a previous reviewer who wanted them to have it available from the beginning of the year -- I usually make donations earlier than they have the software available.I also don't care about exporting to TurboTax since I use another tax software.However, entering contributions to my tax software is no big deal. Just the totals go onto Schedule A; you don't have to put in each item.I just print the Its Deductible reports and keep them with my tax records; if I'm ever audited it's all there.

You can't deduct enough for this to be worth it.
I purchased It's Deductable in the beginning of the 2004 to have it have a database error and never run. It got to the point where I reinstalled my entire system before it would work (this is the only solution Intuit technical support could come up with). I recently went into the software to do my taxes and ALL OF MY DATA WAS GONE! I even did a restore from tape and the software did not see my data. Basically this software, when it worked, never found prices for ANYTHING and then lost my data even after a full restore. Intuit stole my money and time.

Not Worth The Hassle
I love just about anything put out by Intuit and have used Quicken and TurboTax for years. I tried Its Deductible last year and initially was pretty impressed because I didn't know I was entitled to claim that much for donations.However, after all my hard work inputting all my donations, when it came time to file my taxes, there was a glitch with I.D. and it would not create a report, integrate into TurboTax or anything.I spent THREE DAYS trying to get through to customer service to get it fixed.After a whole lot of waiting and a whole lot of poor customer service, I finally gave up and was unable to use I.D. with my tax return. I was very disappointed with how difficult it was to get through to customer service.Plus once I finally did get through to someone (3 days later) they were unable to fix the problem.

Saves taxes by getting fair value
This program does what it is supposed to do, which is determine a fair value (for income tax deduction purposes) of items you donate.

While it did not have ALL the items I donated in its database, the items it did have were documented as much higher values than I would have estimated.Very simply, if you're in a 25% marginal tax bracket, every $100 of increased value for your donations translates to $25 reduction in your pocket.If you have donated a substantial amount of used goods to charities, and (as I did) were conservative in setting values for those goods, this program will EASILY save you the price of the software.

It's relatively easy to use, as well.

Save your money folks
I have been using the workbook for years and have loved it. However, the last time (this year) I tried to get one to track donations throughout the year (2004).There was none available.The company sent me one for the wrong year (last years), and it took me over a month and with at least a dozen phone calls to get it returned.I kept getting people in India who would all give me the same information as it was written for them. They had no further information because basically they didn't know what was going on. I was finally able to get costumer service in the states.They said that it was pretty much luck on if you got the U.S. or India. They told me the ItsDetuctible was bought out by another company (Intuit) and that basically we will all have to suffer with bad customer service in this large company who has outsourced most of the customer service jobs to India. ... I have evaluated several products and this one is probably the easiest and the least detailed. I had to wipe my butt with the manual, but since it was so easy to use I didnt need to refer back to the manual.
