FRAUD
Borderline criminal. Purchased this program with a serial number that does not work. Customer service at Xelarate seems none exists. I believe its companies like Xelarate who caused the tech bubble to burst. The company is behaving like they are operating out of a garage in India or Pakistan. I WHAT MY MONEY BACK!!!

No Support: caveat emptor.
I have used PowerPDF successfully for a few documents.But when it began to misbehave in such a way as to make it unusable, I emailed the vendor's product support describing my problem and asking for advice.They told me the product was no longer in development, and they wouldn't help me.When I tried again, and again in very polite terms, I received no response at all.The price is too high for an unsupported product.

worked for 2 out of 3 files
I converted my first two files within about 15 or 20 minutes of recieving this software.The second file was an entire book with many diagrams.PowerPDF was very easy to use.The serial number was very clear and I had no problem with it.The third file that I tried to convert was also very big and complex and PowerPDF didn't convert it.I then went to the site to download the patch, but didn't find one.All these files were created with Microsoft Word 2000 and Microsoft Paint.

EXTREMELY POOR piece of SOFTWARE - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Occasionally, it is possible to purchase a $49.99 program that performs many of the functions of the "REAL" program (e.g., Adobe Acrobat). Unfortunately, this is one of the WORST examples of jackleg software writing that I've had the displeasure to purchase in some 10 years. Absolutely idiotic!In addition to the FACT that the morons at XELERATE (& that's probably the way they think the word should be spelled!) provide a Serial Number that is ridiculously mixed with upper and lower case alpha-numerics, making the process of actually loading the program a bizarre exercise in frustration. Also, it appears that the code writers at DE-XELERATE have taken cues from the spelling and grammar branch of the company. It is pathetic.Folks, I rarely return software for any reason, knowing the difficulty in arguing credit for the purchase (I understand the argument)...however - this software is ridiculous. For those reasons, I'm going to give this product return venture my best shot. As a note, when attempting to read the absolutely illiterate so-called "Quick Start Guide", one discovers a myriad of mixed tenses, misspelled words, typos, and/or totally illogical sentences. In other words, this SOFTWARE and its MANUAL are awful. However, other than the problems with this software's functionality and the manual's readability,the CDROM could provide some use as a soft drink coaster, and I suppose the box could be used to help ignite a well built fire some cold evening. But believe me, these two virtues are the ONLY redeeming factors of this worthless, poorly designed, and inept piece of non-work.

Indecipherable password prevents loading
These folks have topped Microsoft for hard to read software passwords. You must type in a long code containing upper case, lower case, and numerals, all mixed together and printed with a bubblejet in sanserif font. So you get i's and I's and L's and l's and O's and 0's and o's, but you can't tell which is which (it looks like lOl0, etc.) so you spend an hour trying all combos, without success. Go to their website and click on the password info page and you get testamonials about how much other customers love the program once the company gave them a password that worked. Huh? You should not have to do this! And besides, the page does not work, so you cannot send them an e-mail. There are other ways to get them, though not by phone; the company is unlisted. Just try the other websites and e-mails listed in various places on the box, the instruction booklet, and the CD sleeve. Good luck!

The program does work. I have not yet gotten it to integrate with Paperport, though I have not experimented much. I suppose I could use Paperport in the printer mode to make a direct PDF. I have been able to convert from Paperport files to PDF. The files are rather large, though. ... Read more

Adobe continues to rule
Before purchasing this package, I read several of the reviews and was scared silly by the warnings.Fortunately, I didn't have any problems loading it and haven't experienced problems using any of the programs.I should add that I am on a Windows XP platform.

The Creative Suite has incorporated several changes in all of the programs, but they remain familiar enough to get through them if you've used the previous versions.The video tour is great even if all of the possibilities seem overwhelming at first.Photoshop is still the industry standard for image manipulation and the new version has some goodies that makes it indispensable.Coupled with new features for Illustrator and InDesign, the Creative Suite package is a great tool for those of us who work as graphic designers or photographers.

Finally, InDesign is very easy to use and offers more features than Quark.Although I love Quark, I wonder if this will be its doom?I hope not, but change is inevitable.

Works well.
Maybe I’m just lucky, but I haven’t had any problems with this new design collection from Adobe, which represents good value and tight integration for the packages, with a heavy emphasis on the use of .pdf for reliable output compatibility for printing and viewing.

Performance issues may arise for those using computers at the budget end of the spectrum from the likes of Dell, etc. Not because they are poor machines, but because this very featured collection requires reasonably serious hardware to work smoothly in spite of its comparatively modest cost.

My experience suggests that a P4 in excess of 2.4 GHz, loaded with a Gig of good quality RAM, running Windows XP Pro SP2 with NTFS partitions, is likely to prove satisfactory.

Some commentators have considered changing to an Apple computer, but this possibility is unnecessary if a well specified PC is used in the first place.

BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT
I have spent 9 hours in 2 days on the phone with Dell to try to install this piece of s**t.Version Cue will not install nor will photo shop.No 800 number for support from Adobe.Paid for call and recieved many voice ads for products and was told if I need support call at 'top of the hour'.Dell says the problem is in the installer.Adobe Foroums have pointed to the same but no suggestion has worked.Guess I will work on amazon to try to return it for a full refund, it was shipped defective.

BE AFRAID!BE VERY AFRAID!
Windows XP users beware! You'll need lots of bug killer with this supposed "upgrade" - especially the GoLive module.

Speaking as a long time user of Adobe software (Photoshop since version 3.0) this is the most bloated and unstable iteration ever. The added goodies in Photoshop CS would be great, if my (quite adequate) Dell Workstation didn't freeze up every other minute.

Most annoying of all is a screen redraw problem most visible in GoLive CS; a problem that makes GoLive essentially unusable. If you plan to use GoLive - most especially if you have an NVidia graphics card - visit Adobe.com and look through the GoLive User Forum BEFORE you buy the CS version. LOTS of good reading there.

Adobe has (reluctantly) admitted the screen redraw problem to be a "bug" that they are "working" on... but jeez! Wouldn't that bug have been far better stomped on BEFORE Adobe CS was released onto loyal, trusting Adobe users??

To sum it up - BUYER BEWARE! Check out the Adobe Forums before you shell out your hard earned for Adobe CS, because that's where you'll get the real truth about real-world use. Download the trial version of CS if you can - maybe it will run for you... but if not, no money lost.

For now, I'm thinking it's back to my previous versions so I can at least get some work done. In fact, it's so bad - I'm beginning to consider getting a MAC!Aaaargh!!!!

I'm Lovin It
I have had the new Adobe Suite for a few weeks now and I am lovin it. I have been onboard since version 4.0 and I must say that the CS upgrade of Photoshop is the most signifigant ever. I use the RAW plug in with my digital Photos now, more then anything else. RAW and 16 bit editing have changed my workflow forever. The LEns Blur filter, the Photo filters, and the awesome filter gallery are extremly useful too. I do not use Illustrator much, I think that I will use it even less now that Photoshop can type on a path, but I did play with the new 3D tool, it is pretty cool and I can't wait to implement it into my designs. I have no opinion of InDesign, I haven't had the need to use it yet. What I have read about it is that the CS version is the final nail in the coffin for Quark. Go Live is great, I appreciate the Smart Objects, and Adobe has finally cleaned up the code that Go Live writes. At firstIwas peeved that they took out Dynamic editing, but I am okay with it now. I use it side by side with my old copy of Dreamweaver so I can get the best of both worlds. Go Live is more designer friendly.
Version Cue is another can't live without addition. All of the sudden, I am organized. Well I could go on forever about why I love the new suite, Adobe did a great job with this one. If you are a designer or student buy this suite, chances are you are already planning too. ... Read more

Time, time, time
It's incompatible with my MacLinkPlus; everything must become Appleworks 5 before it can then be translated into AW6 and the same thing works in reverse. I can't cut & past text from my old fave WordPerfect for Mac. And it's the slowest somemabitch, at least in iMac X+, that I've ever had the impatience to work with. Spinning wheel: working, working, working, all right already: finish working! It's basically sound, but I can't call up the usually codes to see what is really going on, as I could with WordPerfect. Its translation to html is a nice attempt but full of hesitancies, mistranslations, & that goddamned eternal spinning wheel: processeing, processing. I really think I *could* like this word process if they fixed up the speed, efficiency, & translatability, & added the "seeing within" features I like. [I had hoped WordPerfect would make something for Mac X+, but they say no.]
