Somebody's Stuffing The Ballet Box
The last reviewer was correct in saying there's something fishy about the other reviews, especially those written by Burke Franklin. He gives all the products from JIAN 5 stars. Could it be because they published his book? (See "Business Blackbelt," by, you guessed it, Burke Franklin) As far as BizPlan 8 is concerned, it's okay if you happen to have a business that resembles their sample plans, but if you have a unique product or service, it's only marginally beneficial.

Novice - user from Phoenix
I am suspicious of most of the 8 users who wrote the reviews.I bought this product and it is not user friendly.It seems to be WORD, with categories for a business plan and types of business plans and a book on writing business plans. I am planning on returning it ASAP.When I looked at the written recommendations that were part of my decision to purchase this item, they are all written on one date and seem to be from one person!All of them with similar titles, ie, "software user from "city" and thecomments are all great.I think this might have been a promotion- GASP!Only one author of a review sounds like a real person and he rated it low.I too feel burned and will return this software and try another approach.

Order 4.1 from website
If you order this suite 4.0 you will have to download a 15 mg upgrade to 4.1 and also download two design CD's. In the end you spend more money when you order this outdated new product.

FlipAlbum
This program is the best one I've found for viewing photos. I've scanned all of my old photo albums and created CDs to give to family members, and it's been really easy cataloging new photos as I take them (digital). The mp3 feature in the new version has been great. Some people have complained that the program doesn't have a photo-editing feature, but I already have Photoshop (and I think most scanners and digital cameras come with some sort of software).

No Frills - Meets the Goal though
I use this for distributing photos on CD to others without having to spend time/effort explaining how to get at the photos.FlipAlbum is a nice solution for taking your .JPG's of any size/resolution and getting them quickly into a FlipAlbum which works like a simulated photo album where anyone can easily figure out how to click between pages, view thumbnails and hav a slide show.

FlipAlbums work well enough for posting on the web where others use the same simple method for viewing as FlipAlbums distributed on a CD.

4.0 Suite includes the CD utility which works easily enough to create files for a self-launching CD(when the destination PC has autorun enabled for the CD drive).This utility relies on your existing CD burning software and simply creates the files and give simple instructions what files to put on the CD.

The flipalbum itself is aimed at viewing your photos and includes no photo editing/adjustments like brightness/contrast, redeye features.You are expected to have decent files before copying them into FlipAlbum.You can however, change orientation of the pictures. I would hope future versions add some rudimentary picture enhancement features.

Also the look and feel customization in FlipAlbum is rudimentary (i.e. change the text on the cover, change colors/backgrounds of the pages and add .MP3 or .WAV music to different sections of the album.I found all of these features, cute enough but not very robust or extensive.But that's not the purpose of this software.

If you want a simple, fool proof way to get your photos on the web or especially to send a CD to grandma so she can pop it in and then painlessly flip through all of your recent photos, then I recommend FlipAlbum 4.0 or FlipAlbum 4.0 Suite (w/ CD creation). ... Read more

Business Plan Professional Indeed!
Business plan pro indeed!

I started my business in 2002 and needed a business plan. I didn't know where to start. The bank said that an accountant needed to review the figures and projections.

Geez! I am in a service business and whereas an accountant may know the numbers, they didn't know the business. My accountant said that I should write the plan and let him go over it. Yeah..right! SO I searched the Internet and came across this software. Gosh, just $99.00 bucks to secure my future obtain a business loan and get started. Seemed a fair deal, so I ordered the software and some books as well on writing a business plan.

The books said it might take a couple of months to write a proper plan to present to investors and convince them. The software said it would produce a winning plan. Ok, time to get started. Ahh.. They had sample business plans that one could look at. Nice!

Well, I followed the instructions and got started. It took a couple of weeks of editing but at the end there it was. Nicely generated plan, indexed, pages numbered nicely double-spaced. A truly professional and legal looking plan which I proudly presented to my accountant.He said, this is a lot, it is even more that they need and you will have no problems with the bank. Needless to say I wanted to believe him.

Then the day came and I presented my plan to three separate banks and waited...and waited...and waited...Then the first bank called, apologetic. My plan was so comprehensive it took them more time than usual to go through but..it was approved! They would offer 50% financing. Then the second bank called.. Approved!They would offer 90% financing. The third bank called.. needed more time, they had NEVER seen such a comprehensive and well written business plan..needed another week to fully digest it. Then they called about two weeks later. They wanted my accountant and I to meet with the Manager. They wanted a few things explained.

This did not look good!

There were a few figures they could not understand how they were generated. My accountant explained that the numbers were generated in a computer program, Business Plan Pro and he had gone over it and it was using a different recording method to what they were accustomed. [ It was all accountant talk that I have summarized]. All smiles! APPROVED! 100% financing.

Needless to say, you know which bank I went with in the end!

The best resource if you need to write a Business Plan
I needed to write a business plan, but didn't really want to, and didn't know where to start.Business Plan Pro was recommended to me, and was the best investment I've made in a long time.The software really helped me to understand what a business plan was all about and to get organized and get it done. It wasn't as hard as I thought!

Made my life easier!
I've been struggling with getting my new business off the ground, and then a friend recommended this software. I am not a business person and have no head for financials, but this software made me feel confident that what I was producing was a complete and professional plan. I haven't received the official word about my loan, but the officer who I met with was extremely impressed. I was too!

Avoid this software.
I purchased Flowcharts & More in the hopes of getting an inexpensive s/w tool for making very simple flowcharts.(I didn't see the point of paying hundreds for Visio - which I've used before.)This software has caused me hours of aggrevation and disappointment.It frequently crashes; and makes the files you were working on at the time of the crash unrecoverable. (NB: I am using Windows XP professional.) The simple line tool used to connect figures in the software doesn't function properly.And there is no product support worth speaking of. Save yourself the time and hassle, buy another flowchart product.(It isn't even worth one star - but Amazon tells me I have to assign a star value...) ... Read more

Great new feature, same old warts, but worth it
There are some compelling reasons to upgrade to Visio 2000 if you're using an earlier version of Professional.Here are some of my favorite features that I did not have in version 5.5 include the ability to quickly lay out deployment diagrams and create more precise drawings with the dynamic grid feature.It lets you distribute and align shapes on pre-defined grid templates (or ones of your own making). It also has automatic shape numbering, which I find very useful when I am creating a complex flow or process chart.I include a legend in the drawing that corresponds with the numbered shapes to further clarify that is happening.

Another feature that is plain wonderful is the page tabs, like in Excel and other applications. This is a vast improvement over the hard-to-find pages in earlier versions. The best feature, though, is the ability to use your arrow keys to "nudge" shapes in small increments. If you are doing web-enabled diagrams you can now embed URLs (links) in your shapes that can point to web pages, other documents, drawings or even another shape on your drawing.This is an incredibly handy feature even if you are not publishing your diagram to a web page because it allows you to create drawings that can be "drilled down" into, or point to entire documents for additional information.The possibilities here are endless.

Although I don't use it, a friend raves about the feature that allows you to model directory schemas, such as Active Directory, Novell's Directory Services (NDS; now called "eDirectory"), and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol).Since directory-enabled enterprises are based on one of these products or standards this feature alone might be reason enough to upgrade.Note that NDS modeling has long been a feature with a wizard that Visio provided for free before Microsoft acquired the product.This has now been integrated into the core product and the other directory types added.

This version can also be extensively customized without resorting to Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).ALthough the documentation that ships with Visio 2000 is lame Ralph Grabowski's excellent book, Learn Visio 2000 for the Advanced User, will show you how to fully customize Visio to meet your unique needs.This book is especially valuable if you use Visio all of the time because it will show you how to use a lot of features that you might not otherwise discover (or discover by trial and error), and how to configure Visio into a fine tool fitted to your needs instead of the generic implement it is out of the box.

Yes, Visio 2000 Professional is bloated, and yes, it still does strange things when you're editing a diagram within Microsoft Word.However, it is also incredibly powerful and easy to use.The learning curve for creating diagrams is shallow.I estimate that most people become 80% more productive even if they only use 20% of its capabilities. It contains information, but is it software?
While sold as software, this is a hastily assembled conglomerate of information and some poor (in both content and formating) examples of documents. They have not even bothered to put any dialogs to help the user insert automatically trivial information (names, locations, dates,...) into the documents.

You may want to instead buy a copy of "How to Form Your Own Texas Corporation".The documents appear more complete, better laid out and you get a *book* to hold in your hands!

A good reference guide for typical legal problems.
Nolo offers great guides for specific legal issues related to personal and business use.This guide is a decent tool for users to call upon for typical small business issues.I must warn though, that not all legal questions and problems can be solved using self-help guides.Be realistic in your expectations of the software and it should serve you well.

Not as advertised, simply a watered-down online book
I was, unfortunately, very disappointed in the offerings of this product.I was under the impression that it would have a number of ready-made business forms I could customize for use in my business (contracts, amendments to the corporate charter, etc).That was not the case.This product is more of an online-book with very generic and watered-down information than anything else.If you were thinking of purchasing this product for their "forms," don't.

Lawyer In A Box!
This has been a savior. They should call it, "everything legal you need". I have used the forms for my own buisness (start-up) as well as utilized it at my job. I work for a fortune 500 company, and have been told by our legal department that I have saved them so much time, they rarely if at all have had to make any modifications to the subject matter. All-in-all, it's great if your just starting out, own a small business, or work for a multi-billion dollar corporation, and can't wait for your legal department to come throught on a deadline. Best purchase I've made in some time.

2002 Lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
I own a copy of Quicken Lawyer 2002 Business Deluxe as well as Quicken Family Lawyer, and I was impressed with both!
Running a small business requires more and more legal forms and contracts every day.
Trouble is that your average attorney knows this, and charges accordingly.
Having compared some of the legal documents generated by my attorney and the same documents generated with these two software packages, I could swear (under oath) that my attorney must be using the same software!
Of course, there are some subtle differences, however, I found it to be considerably less expensive to have my attorney read and make modifications to the documents that I provide, than to have him generate them.
This software may not entirely replace your attorney, but it will come darn close.
I only give it four stars because it's not perfect and like anything else out there, it can be improved upon. ... Read more

Perfect for small business and home design
Professional designers don't need to sweat this program. This software isn't a threat to you, the skills it took years to learn, or your innate abilities to be creative.

LogoCreator is geared more towards people who need what this software provides, and that is ordinary folks who would never, ever hire a pro to make a logo for their crafts booth, home business, small business or exciting new project idea. Such people need tools like this, and LogoCreator delivers a wonderful alternative.

I've even seen many "professional" logo design websites using LogoCreator's templates to provide interested parties with individual logos for $50 to $150 each (which is legal to do according to LogoCreator's license agreement).

All in all a nice alternative to those with a need to create and maintain their identity without paying overpriced designers who don't know your business as well as you.

Well, I'm going to throw my design degree right out the window, cuz I should've bought this program and saved myself four years and thousands of dollars!
