It contains information, but is it software?
While sold as software, this is a hastily assembled conglomerate of information and some poor (in both content and formating) examples of documents. They have not even bothered to put any dialogs to help the user insert automatically trivial information (names, locations, dates,...) into the documents.

You may want to instead buy a copy of "How to Form Your Own Texas Corporation".The documents appear more complete, better laid out and you get a *book* to hold in your hands!

A good reference guide for typical legal problems.
Nolo offers great guides for specific legal issues related to personal and business use.This guide is a decent tool for users to call upon for typical small business issues.I must warn though, that not all legal questions and problems can be solved using self-help guides.Be realistic in your expectations of the software and it should serve you well.

Not as advertised, simply a watered-down online book
I was, unfortunately, very disappointed in the offerings of this product.I was under the impression that it would have a number of ready-made business forms I could customize for use in my business (contracts, amendments to the corporate charter, etc).That was not the case.This product is more of an online-book with very generic and watered-down information than anything else.If you were thinking of purchasing this product for their "forms," don't.

Lawyer In A Box!
This has been a savior. They should call it, "everything legal you need". I have used the forms for my own buisness (start-up) as well as utilized it at my job. I work for a fortune 500 company, and have been told by our legal department that I have saved them so much time, they rarely if at all have had to make any modifications to the subject matter. All-in-all, it's great if your just starting out, own a small business, or work for a multi-billion dollar corporation, and can't wait for your legal department to come throught on a deadline. Best purchase I've made in some time.

2002 Lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
I own a copy of Quicken Lawyer 2002 Business Deluxe as well as Quicken Family Lawyer, and I was impressed with both!
Running a small business requires more and more legal forms and contracts every day.
Trouble is that your average attorney knows this, and charges accordingly.
Having compared some of the legal documents generated by my attorney and the same documents generated with these two software packages, I could swear (under oath) that my attorney must be using the same software!
Of course, there are some subtle differences, however, I found it to be considerably less expensive to have my attorney read and make modifications to the documents that I provide, than to have him generate them.
This software may not entirely replace your attorney, but it will come darn close.
I only give it four stars because it's not perfect and like anything else out there, it can be improved upon. ... Read more

Misinformation on Formtool software by IMSI
Beware this product. It does not function as advertised. It has many bugs and omissions from the product as described in the advertising and on the box, for example, existing forms cannot be scanned in, as the menu choices to do so (described in the manual) simply do not exist. The IMSI user forum is full of other errors, complaints, and critcisms for which there are no answers by IMSI staff and you cannot get even email advice without paying for each question asked. If you want to work with forms, choose another product, FormDocs looks promising. Even at the price offered, FormTool is simply not worth it and close to false advertising. ... Read more

I am an amateur to the world of mac /computers in general, so with that being said... I have chosen, "Mac Fonts 2" for my first review!!! I found the installation to be a little confusing and very time consuming. I was hoping to be able to install all fonts at once, instead of clicking on each individual font. The good news however, is that the" Mac Fonts 2" has 1000 fonts to choose from and a great variety for whatever the occasion may be. The quick reference guide provided with this software indicates thatboth true type,and open type fonts are available; the open type format is designed to work cross platform on macs and pc's, however, you must have compatible software. I Wish I Wish I could write a better review
Reference Manager is a feature rich citation program with the potential to dramatically reduce the time required to format and organize citations.With enough experience it can become realtively intuitive, though some of the special features may take a considerable amount of time to learn.I consider myself an advanced, long-term user.Unfortunately, RM still suffers from some annoying bugs, depending on the Word processor you use.Most of these relate to the font in the title in the bibliograpy.Earlier versions RM would cause titles to appear only as symbols.Version 10 can cause only one type of font to appear (eg."arial") with abstact, and possibly other, categories. The website shamelessly admits the former problem and suggests a way to fix it (which causes the latter problem).Another annoyance is the fact that the formating for many (I would say "all") journals is not perfect.Spaces still appear where they shouldn't or don't appear where they should.Journal name formatting can be a chore as well.In the end, RM may consume more time than it saves.Many of my colleagues have turned to Endnote and have convinced me to switch as well, but at this time I have no experience with Endnote and cannot comment.

An Academic's Dream
Reference Manager is a huge time saver for students as well as professors.Right out of the box, it is very intuitive to figure out how to use this program to insert citations into papers and format your references.A toolbar in Microsoft Word makes it easy to insert citations while you write either individually or en masse.Click, click, click.When you finish the text, you can choose the reference format you need.Get rejected from one journal?You just click a few buttons to reformat your in-text citations and reference list rather than spend hours deleting periods from authors' names.

Directly exporting references from search engines is very handy, too.This way you have a well-organized database with full reference information that you can keep coming back.This is not always a perfect process, but comes close enough.

Another option for building a reference database is to tell Reference Manager what sort of references you need, but I don't recommend this method.It is easier to work with familiar search engines that are formatted for your field than try to go through an unwieldy middle-man.

Couldn't pick a better software
Business Plan Pro 2003 walked me through a system that wrote my business plan for me. It took me 3 weeks to do my business plan and I can use the program over and over again in the future.

Not a magic bullet
My assessment of Business Plan Pro, after using it for several months is that, in summary, it is a tool, not a magic bullet. If you don't understand business, it could render you a fool. But if you've never written a business plan before and have no idea where to start, its great for showing you what goes into a business plan and helping you organize your thoughts.

A Business Plan Pro business plan is composed of text, tables and charts. The system has a book that gives you some guidance on what to discuss for each text section but it's not really much. The two books that my box included were: Hurdle - The Book on Business Planning, and the manual. Hurdle was just OK. Moreover, the software is a divided screen with panes that guide you with text describing what you should write and where you are, but they leave a lot to be desired. The sample business plan for my company, a small computer consulting firm, was a joke.

But if you don't know what a Balance Sheet or a Cash Flow are, you're just plain screwed. I had a SCORE counselor review 2 business plans that I wrote with this product and he just hated them. The numbers were all wrong and non-sensical and I didn't even know what the reports meant. Moreover the reports, which are automatically generated, include tons of stuff that is very high level and generic. For example, one line item is "Sales Tax, VAT, HST/GST Received," which appears to be relevant in Canada and Europe and thus shouldn't be included here. Moreover, does that make sense in a business that is a service and doesn't have any employees? Also, there were many items that were there but had "0" values, such as "New Current Borrowing." The maker, Palo Alto Software, is selling a one-size fits all package. Beware!

I'm a programmer, not a businessman. And if you're not a businessman, this is the problem you'll have with this product. That's why I say its a tool, not a magic bullet. As my SCORE counselor said, "It won't magically produce a business plan for you."

Ready Proof that 'Better' is the Enemy of 'Good Enough'
I heartily agree with other reviewers that MS Word & Excel templates are plenty sufficent for the -- apparently unavoidable -- time-consuming business planning task.

Business Plan Pro's attempts at simplicity only make it obtuse.Rather than permitting business owners to focus on the priorities of their particular business, BPP users will find themselves answering off-topic questions and dealing with other near-useless distractions that add little to no value.

Moreover, what good are 400 samples if _they can't be imported for use as a template_??Selling the software on the basis of making all these great 'samples' available (when they most definitely cannot be used directly) is a borderline scam in my opinion.

Great program!
This is a great program. I have used it, and earlier versions, to improve business plans I have written in the past. In every way it succeeds. From the sample/template business plans you can follow to the easy to use question answer format.

I would recommend it to anyone just starting out in a new business.

Cautious
I have use an older version of this softaware and found it to be awkward as will many business plan software.Most bus plan software in general tries to make a basic task, that can be time consuming, but relatively straight forward, simplier.Actually a good MS Excel and MsWord templete would do the same thing.I have reviewed several types of BP software, I don't think any of them would making my job much easier. ... A High schooler's review
As a high school student, I personally found this product very helpful.The templates were fairly easy to work with and ran affectively on my school (1995) computer.The templates were relatively self-explainatory and easy to work with.

Like your previous critique, I was surprised that the product was only templates organized within a web like interface.I really expected more.

Not What I Thought
The packaging to this product positions it against Business Plan Pro.I thought I would get a similar solution and was looking for a cheaper business planning tool, based on the advertising.The bottom line is that the product is 40.00 worth of templates, most of which you can find similarly at Microsoft's Template page. The templates in BPD are very remedial and shoddy looking.If I could get my money back, I would - I felt ripped off.
