There are many résumé-writing programs out there for today's job hunter. Resumes Quick & Easy is a good, basic program for someone who has all the content ready and polished and needs a little help with presentation.

Installation was quick and easy (no pun intended). Setup took less than five minutes, although you do have to register upon installation; you cannot opt to do it later. However, the only required fields on the registration form are first and last name.

Resumes Quick & Easy opens to a main menu with four primary features. The first section is Resumes, where you can choose from over a dozen different templates to build the right résumé for your personal goals. Whether you want to emphasize your education, your skills, or your professional experience, there is a template here that should work. Next, go to Cover Letters, where format choices include advertisement reply, broadcast letter, networking letter, offer acceptance, resignation letter, and more. The Contact Manager section is a central place to store the names and contact information of people who are helping you with your job search, or to whom you plan to reach out in the future. Contact Manager will also merge this information directly into your cover letters. Finally, use the Salary Finder section to enter your current position (or any job that you are considering) and your desired geographical area to get a sense of the pay scale involved.

These four areas comprise the main features of Resumes Quick & Easy. This program also offers an action word and prewritten-phrase database to assist with writer's block, or to avoid multiple word use.

Overall, we found Resumes Quick & Easy to be a helpful program for someone who needs a little extra assistance to create a polished and presentable résumé, and to get that résumé out there efficiently and professionally. An invaluable piece of software.
Of all the software I have, Spell Catcher is probably the one I use most often. Sure my word processor has a built-in spell checker but it's not as handy and powerful as Spell Catcher. And, Spell Catcher isn't limited to checking my typing in word processors and e-mail, it can spell check typing in any software I use -- including forms. Furthermore, Spell Catcher will automatically correct many common spelling errors without even bothering to notify you about them. For example, if you type "recieve," Spell Catcher will automatically change it to receive. If there are any words which you commonly misspell, you can easily add them to the list of automatic corrections. My favoritefeature of Spell Catcher is that you can create your own personal shorthand for words you commonly use. For example, if I type "drs" Spell Catcher automatically changes it to David R. Schryer. Currently, I have hundreds of words in my shorthand gossary. Believe me this significantly speeds up typing. Since you can create your own shorthand abbreviations, they're easy to remember. All in all, Spell Catcher is a terrific piece of software.

Great Time-Saver!
I've used Spell Catcher for at least five years. Using "keyboard shorthand" has saved untold hours of typing. For example: typing "peiol" (which SC initially cannot recognize as a word), gave me the opportunity to use this as shorthand, so that now, when I type "peiol," SC automatically changes this to "phacoemulsification, cataract, with intraocular lens implant." Any question which is easier?

Disappointing
The program wouldn't install properly. Repeated calls to tech support werefrustrating and I was shuffled between sales and tech support. A good oldfashioned paper dictionary in someone else's house across town would bemore convenient. ... Read more
