5-0 out of 5 stars Thanks to IBM Viavoice my expectations were low!
Seriously, this product is 1000% better then IBM Viavoice.I coul not even dictate in word with that nightmare of a program.

With this program I did the minimal training, and it works great! It actually does what it claims it can do (unlike IBM Viavoice).

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what you need with no frills.
The 'Essentials' version of Dragon Naturally Speaking 7 (DNS) has the core features but none of the extras. There is really no point in getting the 'standard version' over this as the standard version only has four extra features that you probably would not use much, if at all, anyway.

What matters here is that the speech recognition engine in DNS is excellent and quick to set up and use, and the core speech recognition engine is the same for all the DNS 7 variants. The time you put in through use to train it is time well spent, and you can speak at a normal pace with very high quality results.OK, if you try to use it in a noisy environment you will get problems, but use a bit of common sense and patience and you get great results.

If you want to use DNS with a dictation machine then you have to go for the 'Preferred or Professional' versions, likewise if you want to have your words read back to you (text to speech)But if you just want to do the basics such as dictating letters, essays, memos, or email, then DNS Essentials has all you need.

If you are spending your own money and don't really need the advanced features then go for DNS Essentials, if it is someone else's money, or you really need the extra advanced features then get the preferred or professional.Of course it helps to have a fast PC with more memory than the minimum specifications too! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Waste ofmoney
First of all, the required registration and fingerprinting of your machine is quite intrusive and cumbersome.
Second, in converting pdf to Word files, it doesn't really do any useable formatting that can be easily editted, instead it creates a bunch of text boxes all over the page (rather then using tabs or tables). I was tring to convert a resume to a different format, working with a pdf original. In the end I had to convert it to plain text and start formatting from scratch, which I could have done just using the Adobe Acrobat text copy tool. Save your money, I wish I had done some research first.

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I have Adobe 6.0 professional. Most of the time I use Adobe to convert file to PDF. I bought this software hoping to get cheaper product for our company new computer with the comparable quality. The software does convert the file to PDF. However, it considerbly increases the file size.
I convert some documents using both Adobe and this software to compare.
Adobe compressed the file from 200 KB to 20 KB
This software increase the file size from 200 KB to 688 KB!
Changing the settingalso makes no difference.

Not recommend this software if you're looking for the product to compress the file.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Terrible License Management...Lousy Service Too
ScanSoft has been nothing but difficult to deal with in resolving a problem that their own license management system created.

Every few weeks the application manages to forget that it is not an evaluation copy and begins dysfunctionally labeling every page it generates with that annoying "Evaluation Version" diagonally laced across every page it produces.

I paid fully for my copy of this product and naively assumed that a call to customer support would resolve this issue. It didn't.Instead, I was told that I'd have to call technical support (not an 800 number -- but not to worry, the "first call" is for no charge... oh yipee...)

Note to all customer service departments:NEVER, EVER, send a customer away with instructions to call someone else in your company instead.Make sure your customer service people can call and patch through customers on their own.The only thing more annoying to a client than having to work through a phone menu system ONCE to reach a flesh-and-blood person is having to do it TWICE with no guarantee of being closer to the solution than before.

So I called "technical services."After answering enough questions to fill an autobiography from the person who picked up the line, it was suggested that I "try" reinstalling the software (as if I had nothing better to do with my time and as if I had not been through THAT exercise enough times before).I suggested that whatever the solution to this issue was, it was definitely NOT THAT.Then the gentlemen indicated that he'd need a copy of the receipt (why did he not say so in the first place instead of suggesting I find yet more ways to waste my time?)

I suggested to him that he'd best put his supervisor on the line as he had a very angry customer on his hands. After a prolonged period of being on hold, on my own long-distance dime, I hung up.

That friends, is ScanSoft's approach to customer relations. They treat you like a questionably legitimate user by default and if their license management system screws up -- it must be (in their view) something YOU did.Nice, huh.

As for the product itself, it's okay.I noticed that it seemed to have issues with some graphics, whereas the original version with some graphics would print crisply directly out of Word, the PDF version was a bit jagged (even on the screen).

If ScanSoft had not wasted so much of my time with the license issue and completely lost my goodwill, I might have had more time to more seriously explore the product and say more.

The review below about the faulty design does echo a few things I noticed too.

Suffice to say that I doubt that I'll ever be considering ScanSoft products in the future. This experience has left a sufficiently bad taste in my mouth that I'll probably recommend my clients stay away from them too.

Glitches and shortcomings in software products is something I can learn to live with (if they aren't too bad). But contempt and indifference toward paying customers is unforgivable and inexcusable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Poor Software Design
Interesting product, but just another one that has been added to the long list of software products that lack the fundamental design principles. The product's sales people try to make up for the lack of fundamental design flaws with unfounded and inaccurate claims. i.e.

1. "Turn PC files into optimized, small file-size PDF documents".I believe the person that wrote this did not have a strong understanding of the English language.I purchased the product to allow a PowerPoint slide file (file size 578K) to be emailed in a "small file-size".ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 2.0 turned the file into a five (5) times larger file!Even with ScanSoft technical support on the phone with me for almost an hour, the smallest size was over 2000K!

2. "System Requirements...Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1 or above".What I did not see listed was a requirement for a active internet connection. What a surprise to find that I actually have to be actively connected to get the activation process to work. What private information is ScanSoft collecting off my computer?I purchased a legitimate retail version from a Office Depot, a legitimate retailer. Why is ScanSoft so paranoid? What other design flaws have they included, due to their paranoia?

Here are some other interesting concerns:

3. During the installation process, there is no option to tell the software not to install in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. What a surprise when I open up my PowerPoint to find that it takes five (5) times longer to load! Instead of 2 seconds, it now takes 10 seconds! Why did it take so long? Well, ScanSoft has now decided to load itself into every Microsoft product on my computer! It was not happy with just loading itself as a printer driver, it loaded itself on all my Office main menus and in my submenus! What else has it done without me knowing? Is it also sending my private information off somewhere?ScanSoft looks more like a SpyWare program than a PDF converter.

4. Now for the software return process...if you like to jump through hoops, try a return.I call up to return the product and I get what I think are the requirements.FAX a copy of the receipt and wait for a check.Sorry, the next day I get five (5) emails telling me five different things that I have to do from three (3) different people.Does this sound like out-sourcing?Yes!!!This explains it all to me.(I digress, this is a review of ScanSoft PDF Convertor 2.0, not of out-sourcing!)

5. Well, I think that I have jumped through all their hoops, now I will wait for a check.Does "check is in the mail" sound familiar?I wonder how long it takes a check to travel from India to the US?

6. The adventure is not over yet. Now, I have to clean up all the garbage on my hard drive and in my registry that the ScanSoft PDF Convertor Professional 2.0 Uninstaller program left. What no Uninstaller program? I sure hope that the Windows XP Add/Remove program can work properly! But it relies on an installation list provided by ScanSoft!I am in trouble.Yes, it is time to manually edit my System Registry (Do not try this at home. This a job for a technical professional.)

7. ScanSoft PDF Convertor Professional 2 is a great example of how not to design and implement software!Yes, it is only $99 which looks like a lot better deal than Adobe Acrobat. How many dollars have I wasted trying to get ScanSoft to do what the sales people wrote on the box?How many dollars am I going to waste trying to get ScanSoft PDF Convertor Professional 2.0 off my computer?

Here is my advice:
A. Buy software products with caution
B. Do your research (read reviews)
C. Beware of software products that have major software design flaws.
D. With poorly designed software the total cost is not what you paid the retailer for it!
E. Outsourcing is not the answer for technical support!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a value compared to Acrobat!
Our school just bought 10 copies of this product instead of Adobe Acrobat - we are a small private school and couldn't afford what they were charging. We use this product to create PDFs when we send out grades. It is perfect becuase we can "lock" the files so only the parents can open them to see their children's grades. Before we began using this we were sending out paper ccopies that frequently got lost by the (K-6) students. This so so much better.Thankyou ScanSoft! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars doesn't work for scanned in documents
This only works on documents that have been electronically turned into pdfs NOT PDFs that have been created through scanning. So since nearly all the PDFs I work with are scanned in from books or journals, this product is worthless.ABBYY's PDF Trnasformer WILL do OCR on scanned in PDFs.It isn't perfect, but at least ABBYY's product is usefull for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse than useless
I bought this based on a Scansoft e-mail ad that made wonderful claims for the accuracy of the PDF to Word conversion capability.Boy was I disappointed!I have yet to see the first accurate conversion of anything more complicated than a simple non-letterhead typed page.I tried to use it to update a manual of about 70 pages and found that it took over twice as long to fix the mess that Scansoft PDF Converter made, than it did to completely re-publish the manual grahics and all.If this product was free it would be a poor bargain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Save time reytyping PDF information
I bought this product on the positive recommendation at this site http://www2.vnunet.com/Products/Hardware/1158407 and agree with their assessment of it.

What's all the griping about this product's lack of support? No software company has excellent support - let alone ones that have $50 products.PDF Converter works fine for me on many different types of files.I haven't experienced any problems.I'd be happy if it got 75% of the conversion right, but it usually gets close to 100%.It saves me a lot of time retyping stuff from PDF files.I am using it almost every day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get along without it!
I work alot with PDF's and MS Office applications and this latest version converts from Word docs to PDF's perfectly.Converting PDF's back again in Word docs is pretty darn good with almost no corrections necessary most of the time. Its fast and stable as well. I also like to being able to "add" to PDF's by dragging and dropping into the PDF Create window. This makes it very simple to combine documents and email just one PDF to clients.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product!
I just upgraded to version 2 of this product.I didn't have any problems with installation or activation. All of this carping over support. What do you expect for a $100 product?Get over it!In a few years all software will need to be activated.

That aside, the product itself works great.I can see why Adobe hates it.The PDF creation process is really simple and for $100 it is a great value.I originally bought this product for the PDF to Word convesion capabilities of technical manuals and have been very happy with the job it does, especially on large (over 100 pages)and table intensive files. The conversions are usually right on with only a minimal amount of corrections. The PDF creation is just a bonus as gar asI am concerned. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AppleWorks is a hands down better value than Excel
AppleWorks is a hands down better value than Excel for 99.9% of the people 99.999% of the time. Excel has become so bloated with unneeded features that it is ungainly. More over the Excel interface changes significantly from version to version and Microsoft has to do things in their own special way rather than following standards. AppleWorks reads in and uses almost all of my old spreadsheets from Excel as well as docs. AppleWorks is much more stable and not a processor hog like Excel.

1-0 out of 5 stars Go Elsewhere
I'm a huge Apple fan and have been using computers for spreadsheets, graphic design, and word processing for years.I have never in my life found a more poorly considered and executed program than Appleworks. It's translation software from MSWord does not work at all--it deletes large chunks of text, rearranges them, and, all in all, causes more work than simply retyping! Its other features are counter-intuitive and frustrating. If you're thinking about saving money by buying this piece of software, think again. There's far better stuff on the market. You'll regret this purchase. Trust me.

5-0 out of 5 stars In terms of value, best productivity suite available
Like some of the other reviewers, I'm rather surprised at the number of negative reviews that Appleworks has received. While it is true that Appleworks is not as powerful as Microsoft Office, it is much less expensive and clearly represents a better value. The word processer part of it (the part that most people will use) is more intuitive and easier to use than Microsoft Word.True, Word is more powerful; but it costs $350 and requires a manual to use.I have never needed to use a manual to use Appleworks. You have complete control of your documents and you don't have to summon up the help application to figure out how to do common tasks like formatting paragraphs or adding links. Those who have mastered the complexities of MS Word and who require its special features may not like Appleworks. But for the rest of us, it more than meets our needs.

Also, one thing more: I have never had any trouble with Appleworks' translators from cwk to word format.I'm not sure why so many people have reported having trouble with it.I translated an entire book from Appleworks to PC MS Word, preserving the formats and special lettering instructions without any trouble at all.In any case, this wouldn't be a problem if people would show more courtesy to non-MS users (Macs and Linux) andnot insist on sending them doc formatted files.PDF and rtf are far better cross-platform alternatives.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's not to like?
Ok, I'm am sure that there are features in Word or Excel that some of you might use and the key word is might, but for the other 98% of us. Apple Works is a complete program that is full featured and easy to use. It can save and all of latest Microsoft Office file formats and that is half the battle most of the time with some of the attachments that I receive. Other than that I've been using it for about two months now and it has done everything that I have asked it to do and done it with ease. I have no problems with crashing or quiting unexpectedly under OS X. I start it and it runs and runs and runs. It's a great value even if just to open and looks at an Excel spreadsheet or Word doucument.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value Suite of Software
I have been using computer word processors extensively since 1986.In 2001, I switched from being primarily a PC user to being a Mac user. And Appleworks is one of the programs I use the most.

I cannot understand the reviews on this page which slam Appleworks (especially the OSX version) for not being compatible with MS Word.I covert files back and forth from PC to Mac with no problem whatsoever. The best printer I have access to is on a PC at work.I usually write documents at home, convert them to a MS Word document, and email them to myself at work. Then at work the next day I print them.No problem.

There seems to be one glitch if you save files as a rich text file. The translator doesn't know the following characters: " '

But if you save it as a MS Word for Windows 98, 2000, ME file, you don't have this problem.

Apple, keep up the good work. The average Joe or Jane should not have to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars to get a solid word processor.

Amazon.com Review

If you get chills just thinking about getting yourrésumétogether, WinWay Resume Deluxe may be just what you need to fight thosejob-searching blues. With a wide selection of customizablerésumés,cover letter templates, Internet job search capabilities, and simulated jobinterviews, Resume Deluxe offers a discernable advantage over creating arésumé from scratch with your word processor.

The nice thing about Resume Deluxe is that it lets you decide how much help youneed with your job search and preparation process. If you simply want a programto help you align the bullet points on your résumé or line up youreducation and career experience sections, Resume Deluxe will provide thatservice. If you're looking for more extensive help, such as a video to guide youthrough the interview process and to help you practice negotiating salaryrequirements, this application provides those services as well.

One feature we especially appreciated was the selection ofrésumétemplates--whether you're looking for a professional, no-nonsense format, or youprefer to add some pizzazz, Resume Deluxe has a good selection of templates fromwhich to choose. Users also have the option to pick a résumétemplate based on a specific career. However, this option seems to lack theprecision one might expect--when we typed in "writer" as a career choice, theclosest templates we could find were for such jobs as "Type-Rolling-MachineOperator" and "Inspector, Automatic Typewriter." Still, the templates do giveyou a general sense of how to lay out your résumé, as well as thetype of information you should include in each field.

Another notable feature is the Internet Job Agent, which allows users to searchfor jobs and post résumé on the Web. You must have an Internetconnection to use this feature; however, WinWay always asks permission beforeconnecting you. Once connected, you can narrow your search, depending upongeographic location and job title keywords. Unlike our experience withcustomizable résumés, the Job Agent found us almost 300 joblistings for writers in our city. Most of these listings are pulled fromwell-known job search engines, which saves users from having to search eachindividual database.

While other features like the interview simulation and salary negotiation seem abit elementary or unbelievable, Resume Deluxe does prove its worth as a valuablepart of any job search. Whether you take advantage of all the program's featuresor you simply choose the ones that fit best with your objectives, Resume Deluxeis sure to get the job done. --Gisele Toueg ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Completely Helpful!
I completely recommend Winway Resume Deluxe because it has helpful hints and quotes for pretty much any position you're applying for. It is very simple and self-explainatory on how to use it. It also aids in creating thank you letters, cover letters, envelopes and helps to prepare you for interviews.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
This program did not come close to matching its performance promises. It is basically a glorified word processing program with a few templates. It isn't anything you could not do on your own.Don't waste the $40.00.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy, not helpful
Poor, just a version of Word with some examples to fill in.Gives you start lines and that's all.Has examples of resumes that are very average at best. You get what you pay for, pretty poor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shipping Change
I need to change the shipping option to 2-Day on this purchase. If I can not change the shipping option, then please assist me with cancelling it and reordering it with rush shipping. It was extremely difficult to cancel the order online.

Thank you

3-0 out of 5 stars Only for people who know how to sell themselves
I have both Winway and Resume Maker Deluxe 10 (by Individual Software Co.) I have some comments for Winway and a comparison between the two programs:

1. Winway does not have a wizard that guides every step of writing and creating a proper resume and cover letter. All it does is only giving you a some headlines and titles and ask you to fill your qualitfications and experiences. It does not guide you. It is only "fill in the blanks" template.

2. Although this software claims that it has 100,000 phrases for you to choose, most phrases and sentences does not stand out. For example, it gives you a sentence like "position as a which utilize my ". and are blank and you have to fill them yourself. It does not suggest how you can present your skills. Only few examples to choose from.

3. If you are an excellent writer and have excellent work experience, then this software can help you make your resumes more good looking and neat and tidy. But this software does little on improving the content of your resumes and letters. It seems assuming that you already know how to write and present.

4. If you are recent graduate who does not know the art of writing a resume and letter, then this software is not for you. The only thing a graudate would benefit from this software is the interview video. It does a good job giving "model answers" on stressful, unlawful and general interview questions. And the video and sound quality is much better than Individual Software's Resume Maker Deluxe 10.

5 Comparison between Winway and Resume Maker Deluxe 10:
A. Winway is for sophisticated people who only need a program for the appearence for their resume. Resume Maker Deluxe 10 is for people who don't really know the format and art of writing a resume. The phrases in Resume Maker Deluxe 10 is far more powerful, convincing, persuasive, impressive and representative. The sample resumes and letters in Resume Maker Deluxe 10 also impress more.

B. As for appearence, Resume Maker Deluxe 10 only has about 30 resume appearence layouts (themes) while Winway has about 50. However Resume Maker Deluxe 10 tells you when to use which format and layout and has step by step wizards tailoring your needs. If you are college graduate, Resume Maker Deluxe 10 definitely does a better job for you than Winway does.

C. Stability of the software: RMD10 does automatically close itself sometimes and your unsaved data may lose.

In conclusion, Winway is for professional job seekers while Resume Maker Deluxe 10 is for people who are totally unsure of how to present and sell their qualifications and strengths in their resumes. ... Read more

This is probably the buggiest piece of software I've ever used. It has taken me about 2 to 3 times longer to get a resume I can actually use than it would have taken if I bought a decent book and typed it by hand in a word processor. There are plenty of suggested phrases and some of them are pretty good, but it looks like they just gleaned them all from existing resumes (they have an online posting service) rather than actually wrote them specifically (some have spelling and punctuation mistakes, and some are just awful).
The bugs in this program are unforgivable though:
- Some fields in the "wizard" don't transfer through to the actual resume. You end up with placholder text like, "[Enter your description of responsibilities.]"
- If you change the section style (for example try a different layout for the jobs in your experience section), you will lose everything you type into the old layout!!!! The pre-fab phrases will transfer to a "scratch pad" so you can cut and paste, but any custom edits to those phrases get tossed (changing back will wipe out your scratch pad entries, so you lose everything)

I used to work in the software industry (hence the need for such a program), and the number of tech resumes and phrases is appalling sparse, especially given the current job market. At any place I've worked, if we released a product to the public with bugs like these, we'd be fired on the spot.

Once again, I'm learning there are no shortcuts in life worth taking. Since I downloaded it, I doubt I can get my $40 back. You, on the other hand have a chance not to waste yours. If you do decide to buy it, you should eliminate applying for any accounting or finance positions ;-).

2-0 out of 5 stars No Video Functions for the Download Version! Crashes!
I bought the download version last week from individual software's official site. After using it, have the following feelings:

1. whenever i click the salary finder fuction, this program crashes. Also, there are only few salary reports in this program. Much of the salary trend charts are empty.

2. Users or buyers are not properly informed that the download version is without the video function which is available in the Cd version ( I was not informed about this term until i bought the download and saw the Help file in the prgram. The retail and download version both charges the same price. Why doesn't I have the video function too!?

3. I wrote an email to the company asking them to explain this issue to me and have never heard from them. Bad support.

4. it does not have even popular occupation resume sample like flight attendant, ticket service agent.

In conclusion, mediocre + not as advertised + bad customer support. -> wasted 40 bucks

5-0 out of 5 stars A great resume maker. Outstanding helping tool.
This is very easy to use software that helps you use strong, descriptive words that will give you an edge when submitting resumes.
Plus, there are great video interviewing hints and tips.
Also included in a job search engine that hooks into many Internet job banks. You can search through the program and find jobs from 20 or more places by just doing one search.
Very nice and pleasant to use this resume maker. Everything worked great without any problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just 5 stars .....5 GOLD Stars!
I had a bad experience with another brand (instant resume) and was fortunate to stumble upon your software. Talk about night and day in comparison. I had originally planned to purchase the Winway software next but was drawn toward buying your product by the retail packaging. Your software also seemed to be the hot selling product and I noticed Winway's software had some "item returned for refund" stickers on them. After installing your software I was immediately impressed by the nice looking GUI design and how easy and intuitive it was to get started using this program. Also, your software did something the other brands failed to do. It got me noticed and called in for interviews! I am pleased to say that i found a new job which I will be starting in the next 2 weeks, not to mention a bump up in salary!ResumeMaker is #1 hands down and I would recommend this software to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible, don't order it and Espeacially! don't download it!
This software is horrible! do not order, or download it. I work in a IT dept. I am around PC's all day. This software is buggy, and it doesn't really do much. I could make a better resume in Microsoft Word much easier and faster, don't waste your time. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Program!
The handwriting recognition software isn't that great, though it adds other features such as a dictionary and word complete. All in all, a good program, even if you do not use the handwriting recognition software.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent to save time writing in your palm
This is a really useful program. I have been using it in my work in the hospital to write patients progress notes and it has been great. I can customize its list of word so I could add the name of medications and even whole phrases like "Patient seen, chart reviewed" so when I write pa.. the whole phrase pop out and I just tap on it so I do save a lot of time typing. You can make the program scan text for new words, so to customize its list of words it is a snap.
Together with a program to print strait from the palm (like the Palm Print) it is really Great.
The only glitch is the "jot down" part of the program, sometimes it does not work very well (it would interferes with the recognition of some usual palm graffiti), but you can deactivate it and overall the program is still really good. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

A solid, fast, and easy-to-use word processor that also has advancedfeatures is a powerful tool and a good find, especially when it bears thelegendary name of WordPerfect.

Now being published by Corel, WordPerfect 3.5 for Mac is more than a wordprocessor. With the ability to export HTML files for the Web and importQuickTime movies and sounds, as well as its use of interactive dialog boxes,WordPerfect is a hybrid page-layout application and multimedia tool.

Along with the usual array of spell checkers and grammar checkers, layoutoptions, tables, and a wide assortment of document templates, Corel has thrownin 5,400 clip art images, 150 fonts, 200 high-resolution photos, almost 200textures, and almost 500 sound files.

One thing that WordPerfect has always excelled at is its handling of largefiles, i.e., novel-length documents. Built-in memory management, combined withefficiently written code, makes writing large documents a pleasure. Navigation(scrolling) is fast, as is spell checking and document reformatting.

Since this is an older application, the system requirements are very modest bytoday's standards--5 MB RAM, a Power Mac (which all Macs are now), and about 16MB of disk space are all that's needed. Yet the program is robust and flexibleand, in light of its age, fairly crash free even under Mac OS 8.6 and 9.

There aren't too many competitors in the word processing arena, but even ifthere were, WordPerfect 3.5 would be a tough one to beat. In light of thefeature set and the cost, it's an outstanding value. --Mike Caputo ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cost-Effective Substitute for MS Word
I've owned this program for three years and use it exclusively for writing novels.I've tried cheaper programs and have experienced considerable difficulties with memory problems. They simply cannot take the load of a400+ page manuscript.I've also used it to create tables, and it worksquite nicely. The graphics placement takes a bit of tweaking, but once Igot the hang of it there was no problems. The program also has HTMLfeatures, but I have not used them yet.I have, however, used the spellingand grammar check quite extensively and have no qualms about those.Irecommend this product for anyone who can't afford the hefty price of Word. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Instant computer geek!
First, you should know I am a card carrying Luddite, if not the Great Ned's reincarnated self. But this program is easy to install and use, even for me. Next, this has turned my PDA into the single greatest invention since the sanitar---err, sliced bread! I carry Excel spreadsheets that I routinely update on both my desktop, and my PDA (Palm500.) They automatically update their alter whenever I hotsink. I carry books I've downloaded in Word or PDF format, and I have used it to download photos onto my PDA. And all without one glitch in 1 year!

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but could be better
I work with spreadsheets all the time so immediately after I got my Palm I started looking for some sort of spreadsheet program. This program works pretty good you can see Excel spreadsheets on your hand held and Word documents and edit them and copy them to your PC and vice versa. Some annoying problems, though. The program doesn't synchronize with files on the computer it mearly copies one over the other. If it detects that the file on the computer and the file on the hand held have both been modified it gives an error. Also, there are too few formulas provided. I have a spreadsheet to calculate subnet masks that will not work with this. Only the most basic formulas are provided. I called Dataviz tech support and there are no formula upgrade packs either. Lastly, the price of this is pretty spendy. I keep kicking myself when I found I could have just bought a new handheld with this software included for what I spent on this software alone!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's so easy!!
Most of the documents I receive via email are in Microsoft Word or Excel format.I work out of my car and having these documents available on my Palm has turned my car into a paperless office. It's so easy and convenient. ... Read more
