Product Description

YEPP plays MP3 digital audio music files downloaded from your computer. It has a high power output signal (7mW) and a seven-mode equalizer. Also, because YEPP has no moving parts, you won't have to listen to the bumps and jitters you would otherwise experience with a CD player. YEPP is one of smallest and lightest MP3 players on the market. You can connect it to your belt with its handy belt clip or you can carry it in your pocket and barely notice it's there. YEPP's 3-line LCD display lets you see the titles of the songs stored on your MP3 player. This feature will come in handy, since the RealJukebox PC software that is provided with YEPP' lets you put together custom play lists of your choosing. YEPP can be used to access a phone directory of hundreds of personal contacts. The information is entered on your PC and is downloaded in the same way that you would download an MP3 music file from your PC. You can record up to two hours of voice using YEPP's voice recording function. Record your early morning history class or use it to store messages that will remind you of things you need to do. You can then e-mail your voice messages to anyone you want! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!
I have had this mp3 for probably about 4 or 5 years. It has been AMAZING! I got it when mp3s first came out, so it was a great little gadget that no one else had at the time. I was able to easily put songs on it, and now I look for good quality songs with small sizes to get the maximum value out of it. It is the smallest and most lightweight mp3 I have seen, it fits easily in the palm of your hand and the buttons aren't too small. The battery wear is great, I'd say probably 12 hours. I just wish it could be expanded to a larger size. Overall, it has been great for me!

2-0 out of 5 stars YP-E64 Not what I thought.
I was under the impression that the YP-E64 could be upgraded to a total of 128MB by using a 64MB Smart Media Card. This is not true.I was very disappointed about that.I tried using a 64MB SMC I bought specifically for this MP3 player, and ended up having to use the 32MB one I bought for my digital Camera. And the 128MB one I bought...useless, unless I want to take 300+ pictures with my camera.Other than that, the Voice recorder works great, and it sounds good.Just wish the voice recorder had the option to record at better quality than it does.Overall, it isn't bad, just not what I thought it would be.

1-0 out of 5 stars ...USB adapter for YP-E64
The yepp comes with parallel adapter andUSB adapter as an option. Unfortunatly, i can't find USB adapter to buy.
This product for my year of expirience has big disadvantage, not coming with USB.
Another disadvantage is the uncompability to Windows XP

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect
The yp-e64 is pretty good.I use it everyday. But there are some minor problems with it.
1) The player's paint peels off real easily (you can scratch it and the paint will go bye bye).
2) The ear phones are a real tradgedy. The right ear stopped working after only 3 months of use.I had to go and buy new ones.
(...)
3) The player can only take 32 mb cards (...)It's also not the fastest mp3 player around.
Other than that the mp3s great.I think the telephone directory really comes in handy, and so does the voice recording. The player is also sturdy. It has one of the best sounds around (the intel audio player is better though). My advice is that you should look around some more before you purchase this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Mp3 player from samsung
I bought it in its 4th week of release and i still have not considered changing it. IT has never malfunctioned. It has a good amount of storage. The equalizer is great. The voice recording and phone book are very handyThe only downside is the parallel cable which is really slow. Other than that it is one of the best mp3 players you can buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very positive first impressions
I just got this and my first impressions are totally positive.I bought it because I was really sick and tired of the dangling headphone wire, which sometimes gets caught on my jacket or other things.I'm surprised that there aren't many products like this.

With support for MP3 and AAC (advanced audio coding, a better-than-MP3 audio format developed by Dolby), the SD05 can hold up to 2 hours of hi-fi music. It's surprisingly easy to operate, and because it's foldable, easy to transport, too.The manual is a bit skimpy, but I think most people can figure it out pretty quick. The headset itself is comfortable, although I wish there were more bass.

5-0 out of 5 stars The cure for your commute
I have now been using my DUO-64 every day for over a year.Every day I download my favorite National Public Radio shows from audible.com and listen to them while I commute.

The DUO works great. It has changed my commute from an hour of mind numbing boordom to an hour of learning. It is much better than flipping through the radio stations trying to avoid commercials and obsolete traffic reports.

I have a lot of gadgets that I bought thinking they would be cool but mostly sit on the shelf unused. This is not one of them.I use this more than any other electronic device that I have ever owned.I consider it up there with the cell phone in utility.

This is an outstanding product that I highly recommend to anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Compatible with Macintosh
Just wanting to add that, differently from what you read in the specs, the product is fully compatible with Macintosh.

Feel free to contact manufacturer's support service...for further details.

1-0 out of 5 stars A marvel of flawed engineering
This has one thing going for it: it's small and portable. There's so many other portable players around it's impossible to justify buying this.If you are thinking it will sound good in your car's tape deck let me advise you go buy an economy pack of standard normal bias tapes, they sound better.

Specific faults:
1. This thing is dyslexic.Sometimes the right channel comes out on the right ear pod, sometimes the left. This seems to be completely random and is terribly annoying.

2. The volume controls on the unit control the tape head volume. What were they thinking? No, no no!Eject and turn the sucker down to get rid of the distortion in a tape deck?Yes, this you must do.

3. Interfacing with your computer is pretty much like rolling dice. You usually have to force initialize the unit and reload the software several times before they talk to each other. The problem is greatly magnified if you are foolish enough to install a Media Card.

4. If you do install a media card you'll find that using forward/back buttons often is pretty much the same as if you had pressed a "random track" button. No such button exists.

5. The equalization feature is akward.I'd prefer the standard bass boost as seen on most portable CD players.

6. Tying to use rewind/fast forward in a tape deck, if you still persist in using it in one after realizing how bad it sounds, is near impossible.Better to eject and use the buttons just like you did to turn the volume to the tape heads down.

This is a very poorly engineered device that barely performs as advertised.

1-0 out of 5 stars Corrupted memory when running on Win XP
Don't buy this product! It was running OK on Windows 2000,
but when I downloaded and used their Win XP software on my
new XP box, their software corrupted my Digisette's memory!
Now I can't use the Digisette at all!!!!!Some problems
are OK when moving from one OS to another, but it shouldn't
ruin the product!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Unbeatable for it's primary purpose
I purchased this device to help ease my daily commute by listening to audio books. I already own an Archos 6GB Jukebox for my mp3 music files, and while I love the capacity allowing me to carry a variety of music, it fell short for audio book content. The primary problem is the lack of a bookmark feature.

When I found the Digisette DUO-64 I was intrigued, as it seemed to address exactly the problem I wanted to solve. I read the reviews and went ahead with the purchase, and am very satisfied. One point not very clear in the literature is that a separate bookmark is maintained for each file on the device, allowing you to have multiple books or other content (magazines, newspaper, etc.) active at the same time. Battery life is excellent for spoken audio content and the 64 MB memory allows for around 15 hours of audio book content in Audible format 2.

This misses 5 stars only because of the slightly touchy navigation within and between programs, but with practice it can be mastered both with the buttons on the device and your cassette player controls. Given the small size, I don't think an LCD is feasible, and for my purposes is unnecessary.

For audio book content this player is unbeatable in features and convenience. As a standard MP3 player it is still a great product given its small size and large capacity (up to 128MB with an extra 64MB MMC card). ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Samsung Yepp Hip Hop is easily one of the coolest-looking digital audio players around, and we found ourselves offering it up like an excited kid at show and tell. The player's small size and its groovy translucent orange color never failed to impress coworkers and friends, while its excellent sound also drew raves.

The most outstanding feature of the Yepp Hip Hop is its size--only 3.2 by 2.4 by 0.97 inches and 1.7 ounces. It's the size a deck of cards (and just a bit lighter) and fits neatly into a plastic pouch for wearing around the neck. We were a little dubious about how comfortable the neck cord would be, but a trip to the laundromat with the Hip Hop went off without a hitch. The player was barely noticeable and so light it didn't get in the way of fluffing and folding. Yet the controls were easily reached and the great sound made the hours of drudgery fly by. Better yet, it never skipped a beat, even when it was inadvertently slammed against a dryer a few times.

Samsung has packed 64 MB of onboard memory into this Hip Hop, enough for 60 minutes of music without fiddling with cards or paying for more memory. But if you want more playback, the player's SmartMedia slot has room for flash memory cards for another 64 MB, enough for another hour of music and an impressive capacity for an MP3 player at this price. Sound quality was very good even with the included cheapo earphones--the dynamic range was crisp and had clean tones at both high and low ends.

To download music to the Hip Hop, use the included USB cable to access the player's flash memory, format it, and transfer songs. You will need a USB port on your PC and Windows 98 or 2000 (Windows 95 and NT are not USB-compatible); it is also compatible with Mac OS 7.0 and above. Follow the directions in the manual for adding a USB driver to your system.

The Yepp Hip Hop comes with RealJukebox software for ripping CDs, which took quite a bit of tinkering to get it to work right. (Make sure to check security and encoding settings.) The Hip Hop's manual didn't help much and unless you log on to the Internet, you won't have access to RealJukebox help. But once the software was all set up, it took us only about 30 seconds to encode a track into MP3 format, and then another minute or two to move it to the Hip Hop. Figure on 45 minutes to fill up the full 64 MB memory.

Controls on the Hip Hop are basic. The buttons are the size of BBs, which were sometimes difficult to operate. The included remote control with backlit LCD adds a few more features, like reverse, hold, and four equalizer settings, but search functions are primitive.

Ultimately, its software and hardware limitations might not make it the best MP3 player deal on the market. But with its cool design, sound quality, and portability, the Yepp Hip Hop more than holds its own as an entry-level MP3 player. --L.E. Klein

Pros:

  • Tiny and light--can be worn around the neck

1-0 out of 5 stars for easy comparison among MP3 players
This may not be the most appropriate place forthis comment, but I couldn't find a better one. Could the list of technical data for all MP3players be listed in the same format, to not confuse a shopper ? For example, try to compare this one with its sister of another color, or with the Normad II. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad joke?
This gotta be a joke.Other 64MB MP3 players with expansion, from Now Evolution, etc., cost as little as 1/5 as much, and has much better sound.I truly think this player is a cruel joke for people who know nothing about technology.

4-0 out of 5 stars -
I Purchased this product july 10th because like most people who purchase these items i was tired of spending money on cds and CDRW's so i decided i'd give this mp3 player a shot. It was shipped extremely fast within 24 hours w/standard shipping and arrived nicely packaged. The software itself was quite easy to use and the mp3 player itself is very small, sturdy, and sleek. When i first started downloading/uploading songs onto it (while using Kazaa) it worked just fine. But after a few days it rendered my USB (universal serial bus port) disabled and wouldnt let me use it well now it's july 27 and after 60+ hours of work and over 11 people's help and assistance it still says my USB is disabled and no longer there. Which also means i cant use my printer which shares a USB port itself. so now i'm forced to either buy a new computer, or a new media card with a USB on it. Maybe it's just my computer that's the prob. but i've had numerous comp. technicians say they've never seen ne thing like this before that could be blammed on a comp. But for the time it worked it was a great sounding, playing, and very versitile MP3 player. So i give this item 4 stars rating it on the time it worked. My only complaint about the product (besides killing my usb ports) is the controls on the headphones have a special adapter that isnt common in most places so like the other person who reviewed you cant buy new headphones if you want the controls that come w/the headphones in the package. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Work well when it's "working"
I owned two of these units. The first one I got had battery problems and even after callibrating it a couple of times the things would play 2 or 3 songs and then die.Back to the store where I exchanged it for another.

The next unit's battery worked but had the common discharge problem if its not used in a week. The volume control on the unit was a little finiky. If you didn't press on the control in the right place the sound just didn't change up or down.

In general I wonder about the quality control Rio has because from reading othe sites and reviews they seem to have issues.

I wrote them about getting the replacement charger, submitted my info and support never got back to me and never replaced the charger. So much for good support.

Pros
-All my MP3s splayed perfectly on the unit.
-Random and Repeat worked fine.
-The weight and size was also acceptable.
-Comes with a belt clip

Cons
-Throw out the headphones, absolutely useless and they hurt the head.

-Software that came with it sucked. Windows media player worked OK but had the occasional crash where the media player would not longer recognize the unit.
-Overall poor quality.
-Crappy support.

I gave the unit 2 starts out of 5 because over the two years I had it working I was sorta happy with it. Then recently this unit just stopped working. It's the battery the playback was messed up and all you could here was sound in MONO or something. So that's it for Rio.

I can't recommend you get one. I'm moving to a mini-disc player and recommend you do the same.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked great for 2 months
The Rio was easy to load and easy to use. After 2 months the fast forward button no longer worked which severly limited the ease of use.During the third month the play button stopped working turning it to garbage. I have not been able to find a number to talk to a company representative about my problem but have been able to email the company but still have a light weight, stylish and useless Rio.

2-0 out of 5 stars Rio 800 is a pain in the butt
I got this little guy for Christmas 2002 and I was so excited to have one.Well, after figuring out that you had to calibrate the battery, I thought I was good to go.You wouldn't know to calibrate the battery until you read the directions, which I think is horrible considering most (like me) just plug it in to charge w/o the directions.Well, the battery drains itself and I have never been able to keep it running for more than a few hours.I think the look, feel, sound, and even the amount of memory (mine has 128 mb) are great, but what good is any of that if you cannot keep power to it.The night before I wanted to use it I unplugged it after a full charge... by the time I went to workout the next day, the battery in it was dead.DO NOT BUY RIO -- their product stinks!I will never buy another!

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware - Deplorable Customer Service
...Because I enjoy listening to audio books and mp3 music, I purchased a ... Rio 800 128 MB that was under warranty. The unit unfortunately had a defective headphone jack, a problem with a simple solution. Obtain an RMA (return of merchandise authorization) number and send the unit back for repair.
...

4-0 out of 5 stars Persistance Pays
I'm not a tech type, I bought the Rio 800 about 2 years ago, and found it incredibly difficult to use in conjunction with RealNewtworks. So it sat in a drawer until this week when I bought a new PC with XP.The Windows Media Player is a no brainer for downloading into the Rio - and my Rio is finally in action. I loaded a Rio 600 for a friend using WMP - same good results.

Gripe - the Rio headphones stink. When you opt for a new pair made by a different manufacturer (sony, jvc, etc) you need to keep the plug slightly unplugged to get music on both sides of the headphones, and it's basically mono, not stereo. Fully insert the pin and you get only one side working.

In terms of durability - it's a rugged little unit.
In terms of display - super small text on a wierd green bacground, I admit to having to use a magnifying glass to read it at times.
Battery life - no problems - the rechargeable gives me about 10 hours.
I share the annoyance of one of your previous reviewers that the backpack memory is treated like a seperate statistic, not combined with the basic memory.

So persistance paid off - I refused to buy another MP3 player until I could get this one working - it took Wimdows Media Player XP to do the trick. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars BATTERY DOOR/COVER... BAD CONCEPT!
THIS MP3 PLAYER IS NOT REALLY THAT BAD. ALTHOUGH THE DOWNLOADS ARE PRETTY SLOW AND GRUELING.

MY BEEF? HERE IT IS... I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE GOOFBALL WHO DESIGNED THE BATTER DOOR THAT KEEPS THE BATTERY IN PLACE. TOTALLY BAD CONCEPT AND DESIGN. FUNNY THING IS, THEY GIVE YOU AN EXTRA BATTER DOOR BUT THIS IS NOT WHERE THE PROBLEM OCCURS.
THE SMALL "TOOTH" THAT THE BATTER DOOR CLOSED ONTO, BROKE OFF AND A NEW DOOR MEANS NOTHING WITHOUT THAT SMALL "TOOTH" TO CLING TO. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO... I FEEL LIKE I HAVE WASTED A LOT OF MONEY HERE!...

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor design and service overshadows decent features
This is a small, lightweight unit that has all the requisite features expected in an mp3 player. It does not, however have some of the niceties found in other players such as song title display, voice recording, rechargeable batteries, or song playlists. It also plays ONLY mp3 files, not any other formats.

    The player comes with:
    -Unit
    -Wired remote
    -Earbud headphones
-CD with Real Jukebox software for ripping/uploading songs
    -Extra battery door
    -Belt clip
    -USB to mini USB cable

Here are the key points to know about this player:
-Functions: The unit itself has volume up/down buttons, stop (power off), play/pause (power on), ff/scan, rew/scan, and a handy hold switch to lock the player in either play/off to prevent accidental bumping of buttons. The headphone port also works as the remote control port (when using remote, headphones attach to remote itself), but can be used with just headphones. There are also 3 EQ settings, but these can only be accessed via the remote. There is no LCD display on the unit itself, only a green/red LED that indicates status.
-Sound quality: While I haven't listened to scores of players, the sound rates as good or better than the other players such as Rio's, Nomad's, and Sony's I've tried. Works with low (32kbps) and high (128 ) bitrate mp3's.
-Remote: The remote is a small cylinder (about size of roll of 35mm film) with a small LCD display that indicates song number (not name), time, volume, EQ, and battery status. The display is also backlit for a few seconds upon each button press. It has the same controls as the main unit, including another hold button(each are independent) and the EQ button. This is a handy feature for those who want the unit stashed away in a pocket and just the remote handy. It has a nice spring clip to attach it somewhere on your clothing or bag strap. The headphones attach to the remote itself, which explains why the included headphones have such a short cord (does not reach from my hip to my ears without remote!)
-Uploading software: Included is the RealJukebox software to burn mp3's (up to 128kbps), manage files, and upload mp3's to the player via USB cable. Personally, I like the Jukebox software, but it can be a pain unless you are meticulous about making sure the file info is accurate (genre, artist, title, etc). Another option is to go to the Samsung website and download the YEPP explorer which just lets you drag and drop. Also, the Yepp explorer is the only way to rearrange song order on your player. Jukebox will not let you do this. I use the Yepp explorer now. The upload times seem hideously long for a USB player. Not sure if this is inherent in the SmartCard flash memory architecture, but when compared to a compact flash card I use for my digital camera, it's like molasses. To upload 64MB of songs, takes about 8 minutes. Not much faster than a serial connection I used for an older Nomad player. If you like changing songs frequently, keep this in mind.
-Battery life: Decent, about 8-10 hours without the remote. About 6-8 with the remote, as it has a display and backlight.
-Poor design throughout: My main beef with this player is that there are some real shoddy design elements such as the battery latch and the belt clip. First off, the battery door design is so poor, they acknowledge it by including an extra battery door! Well, what happens if, as in my case, it's the latch on the unit itself that breaks? Here is the direct quote from Samsung customer support:
"Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Broken component are considered out of warranty conditions. I'm sorry our player did not perform to your expectations." That's it? I knew the latch was doomed, because it's so small and narrow and would fatigue over repeated battery replacements. So now I am sadly relegated to utilizing masking tape to keep the batteries in place because it's one of those designs where the battery door acts as the contact and counters the battery springs on the other end as opposed to a more sensible design that houses all contacts within the unit itself, with the door only acting as an access cover. This of course means every time I need to change batteries (since this has no rechargeable ones), I must break out the masking tape. ...! Then there's the belt clip, glorified strips of plastic that criss cross all over the unit, covering half the buttons. The last time I saw a clip like this, it was on my cousin's original Sony walkman from 1980! Functionally, it works, and you can still press the buttons through the plastic. I have run with it and worked out with it frequently, though the cheesy plastic holster makes me cringe in public. These poorly designed elements reflect the gap between Samsung's vision of quality with that of other brands like Sony. This unit was denied a proper QA review before heading to production, and just before shipping, someone said "hey how about a belt clip? oh and throw in an extra battery door".

In conclusion, while this player does everything it needs to, it does absolutely nothing more. Also beware of some shoddy design and a battery cover that will require masking tape within a year. If you can live with that, and you can find this unit cheap enough to justify these hassles, go for it. Otherwise, look elsewhere because Samsung's customer service will only tell you sorry it didn't live up to your expectations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeded Expectation
I bought the Yepp for my wife last Christmas, who has used it daily without issue.Due to it's light weight and small size, she comfortably wears it at the gym and while running on the track.Loading music has been simple and trouble free, and the sound is excellent.Battery life has been longer than anticipated - averaging about 20 hours of playtime between changes.

2-0 out of 5 stars Buggy software, lousy support
This is a great player in and of itself, but God help you if you have problems with the player. For reasons no one at Samsung can identify, my laptop no longer recognizes my MP3 player. I spent an hour on tech support with Samsung, and the end result was the tech throwing his hands up in exasperation, mailing me a new driver disk, and telling me to try that. I received the disk and tried to reinstall the drivers, but the computer still does not recognize the device. I tried installing the player on two other machines and had the same problem.

A follow-up call to Samsung resulted with the basic response that I should just buy a new player.

If you like truly awful support, I highly recommend Samsung's products. :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Buggy
I used this player for approximately 30 hours. To get those 30 hours of music, it required at least 12-16 hours of maintenance, research on the web and re-adding files to the player.
Though, never mentioned in any documentation I found, the player's software is extrememly sensitive to the order in which you disconnect the player from your USB port and close the desktop software. This problem eventually locked the player into a mode I can not break it out of. When powered on, the red light never goes off and the player responds to nothing.
I've purchased a new Rio player and love it. I didn't have the patience to make any more of a time investment into a player with minimal funtionality and a limited storage capacity. Sorry, Samsung.
PS - I made the mistake of buying this from a retail store instead of Amazon, and they won't help me at all! Amazon is more reliable for purchase support and rectification of disgruntlement than any other large-scale vendor I've dealt with. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The RipFlash TRIO combines three products in one ultrathin device that runs on a NiMH "gum stick" rechargeable battery (included). The TRIO is a full-featured MP3/WMA player and MP3 recorder, a digital voice recorder with onboard speaker and microphone, and an FM radio with direct-record capability. RipFlash Direct Encode lets you record from any audio source, without the need for a computer. And while a computer isn't required, you still get USB connectivity to a desktop PC for easy file transfers, and this connection conveniently charges the battery.

The TRIO is business card-size, very slim, and weighs about one ounce, making it one of the lightest MP3 players in the industry. It offers ID3 tag support and a backlit display. Its 128 MB storage holds 36 hours of voice-quality MP3 recording and four hours of near-CD-quality WMA data (two hours of near-CD-quality MP3 record time).

Quick voice messages are a snap using the recorder's internal microphone and VOR (voice-operated recording). A high-quality stereo microphone (not included) will suffice for recording anything from live music to training seminars. The recordings can be played back through the onboard internal speaker, through headphones, or through any home or car audio system using the appropriate cables. The package also contains a rechargeable/removable NiMH battery and rapid charger, earbud headphones, direct record cable (line-in), USB cable and charger adapter, external lapel microphone, telephone adapter, software CD-ROM, and user's manual. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ripflash Trio
The Ripflash Trio is everything promised - excellent. There was 1 problem, solved by the Pogo web site FAC Sheet.I had to discard the small UBS jumper supplied to get the Computer/
Ripflash link to work.I have been enthralled by it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as Advertised
I returned the RipFlash TRIO 128MB MP3 Player/Recorder
by PoGo! for two reasons:

1) Amazon states under the Features section for this product that it "Uses Smart Media Card."Guess what--it doesn't.

2) This product doesn't come with a belt clip or any other way to secure it.I know that if I put it in my shirt pocket, it would fall out in no time.If I put it in my pants pocket, it would get scratched up, or its buttons would get pushed inadvertently.I don't want to spend this amount of money on something that doesn't have some protection from damage of this sort while it is being used.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Overall Product!!
I received the RipFlash Trio about 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it.There are many pros and a few cons, but overall, this is a great product.

Background:
I bought this player specifically to take with me to the gym.I needed something that could last at least 3 hours and play about 20-30 songs.I also needed something that could just fit in my pocket, and able to take some abuse.

Pros:
-Versatile: this player allows you to do anything you want.Record your voice (which I never really use), record from an external source, am/fm radio, and download from your computer.
-Easy: this player is really simple. It took only a few minutes for me to get used to the menu set-up.
-Options: this player allows you to change the eq, shuffle, hold, etc.
-Design: the design is great. It is actually about the size of a credit card (as opposed to many descriptions of it being "business card sized"), and is light weight. It could easily fit into a shirt pocket or even your wallet.
-Software: the software is easy to use and hassle free.

Cons:
-Battery: the battery life is ample for my needs, however charging the unit is kind of an inconvenience. If you want to charge the unit without a computer, you must take the battery out of the unit and charge it in an adapter which plugs into your wall.Personally, I feel that a recharchable battery should be almost fixed into a unit eliminating the possibility of the battery acidentally coming out.The thing about the battery charging from the computer is that there is an adapter that is connected to the usb cord to allow the battery to be charged from the usb port. However, I was unable to load files onto the unit with the adapter attached. So, if you want to load files, you must detatch the adapter and plug in the usb cord directly into a port.It is just more of an inconvenience than anything else.
-Options: ealier I talked about the great options, however there is one option that I wish it had.It does not have any sort of program or selective option to play selected songs from your playlist. So, there are certain songs I enjoy listening to while I am at the gym, but not necesarrily all the time.I am unable to pick and choose the songs I want to listen to at various times.
-External Recording: if you don't have a computer and want to use this unit to record from an external source, I would not reccommend it.Basically the unit records directly from your headphone jack. That means that any sort of feedback or distortions (which can happen through headphone jacks) are picked up onto the unit. The quality and sound just isn't the same as recording from a computer.
-Quality: overall this unit is great, but I'm not sure as to how much abuse it can really take.I have already dropped it once and the battery popped right out.
-Jack: well, the jack for your headphones is a little odd.The unit comes with an adapter for your headphone jack because the unit's headphone jack is smaller than normal. The adapter actually increases the bulk of the unit substantially wich is kind of a pain.

Conclusions:
This unit is an inexpensive mp3 player with great options. It would be nice if it had expandable memory, but I can't complain because I knew what it came with before I purchased it:)128mb is ample space for my needs anyhow. The batterly life is around 4 hours plus, and is perfect for what I use it for.I did not try the headphones because I use my own set of bang & olufsen headphones with the unit.I would definately buy this product if you want something small, easy, and affordable.I purchased mine for about $....It has everything you could want, and even things you may never really use.Overall, I would highly reccommend this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars ALL GREAT PRODUCT but has low sound volume
everything that the other reviewers wrote is correct: the trio is really amazing, smallest, and has all features found in more expensive and bigger players.

but one thing is not good about this player: the volume level is somehwat low - and it is probably because the maker of the trio wanted to save the tiny battary' power.

so if you like to blast your ears with music, go somewhere else.

2-0 out of 5 stars RipFlash TRIO - good features - poor perfomance.
The bad:
Headsset connection is intermittent, must hold it to get stereo.
Battery life is poor ...with no pushing of buttons got less
than four hours. Display is very hard to read except for brief
seconds after pushing buttons when it is illuminated.Menu controls are poorly done.
The good:
It looks slick, the sound quality is quite good (stereo separtion while pressing on connection), nice features. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great mp3 player
I got the Nomad 2 32 MB mp3 player about 5 months ago. This version is probably the same but you have to buy your own memory. It is a great player and can take a lot of abuse. I drop it a lot more than I should, and it is fine. The backlight is great for playing in the dark, and the player has a flash bios system to upgrade to new technologies. The sound is loud enough almost all the time unless I am downtown in the city.It only takes one battery which really does last a while. The best part is that it has an FM tuner to listen to the radio when you get tired of your MP3s.Also, the remote on the headphones is a great idea.Great player, I would easily reccomend it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars mp3 classic mp6400
I LIKE THE CLASSIC MP3 BEACUSE I HAVE A CAT THAT LIKES HARD METAL AND THE THE CLASSIC HAS A STRING THAT THE CAT PLAYS WITH AS SHE (SWEET CAKES) LISTENS TO HER METAL. BUT ALTHOUGH THE BATTERY IS FALLING OUT I HAD IT FOR A GOOD OHHHH........8 HOURS.
IT IS STRONG PLASTIC NOT CHEAP PLASTIC LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SAYS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY THIS EQUIPMENT I STRONGLY SUGGEST IT (IF YOUR A PET LOVER OR HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN) BEAUSE IT IS THE CHEAPEST ONE OUT THERE AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT BUT SOMETIMES ON THE SCREEN IT SAYS _I_WILL_NOT_WORK_FOR_YOU_.

1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!
I always thought that Classic was cheep garbage.Well, they have proven my point. My sister got one, and what happened, it crashed my computer!I had to do a complete system recovery and lost all my files.DO NOT USE WITH WINDOWS XP.

3-0 out of 5 stars meh.
It's okay, but could be better. The casing's cheap, but the sound quality's good. I bought this for walking to class and going to the gym. Over all though I think I would have been smarter to have just saved my money and bought a better one. I didn't have that much of a problem with running the software and I have Win ME.

2-0 out of 5 stars Parallel Port connections ...
The player is great.Just great, especially if you use rechargeable batteries. The parallel port connection is the worst though.I've had the unit for over a year and for the past 4 months I've been unable to upload mp3s to it.

Go for a unit with a USB connection instead and save your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, AND HELP FOR OTHERS
Right, I only need 96 mb I have a spare card i also use for my camera, when i first bought it i kept getting errors, do you know why, nothing with the product its actually very simple DONT GET A REFUND

You need to ctrl+alt+del and get rid of any programs you dont need, all you need for the cabo is explorer, loadqm and systray, everything else can go, apart from this page ;) Then you open CABO DESK and connect and list, drag and drop what you want and its perfect, no skips and the headphones and sound is great, the only downpart is the body, which explains the 4*, be careful with the body because ive already broken the hold button and somehow broken the battery cover. ...

Hope ive helped you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Many problems
The Cabo MP3 player is NOT what I expected. The company that produces the player (Best Data) has no help or troubleshooting on their sight.I bought a 64 mb memory card for it, and It wouldn't work. This puzzled me, and I looked all over to find the answer.I finally found it.It only supports up to 32 mb memory! This site told me that 64 would work with it.Apparently not. Also, it skips when I listen to recordings. (Not good quality one's either.)

The cover for it, isn't very durable.I now have to be careful where the batteries go because a little tab broke off of it.All together, I think that an MP3 player is a good buy, but not this brand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great player
I've had the player for a little over a year.I've had no problems other the instructions don't eplain much in detail. The batteries probably last about 8 hours, maybe even a little less.I bought rechargable batteries and that problem is taken care of.I use it for jogging and cycling, the sound is great although changing the dsp (rock, pop...sounds) didn't really make a difference.I fooled around with the recorder a couple of times but don't really have a use for it.I just use it for the music. With all the issues I've heard on other players, I'm completely satisfied with mine. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Rave:2200 - Let the buyer beware!
As an owner ofa MP:Rave 2200 I found it to be a good MP3player... up to a point. For me problems arose when I tried to use the Rave with Windows XP. My experience has been a disaster and until now it still does not work properly. What is even morefrustratingis trying to get help on the problem from MP:MAN, SonicBlue and Sensory Science the creators and distributors of the MP:Rave. After months ofsending E-mails I received only one response which was to ask for further details on the problem. The 2200 could be a great pleasure to use if only its creators were more customer focused. From my experience this is asad commentary on a potentially great product.

OK so i bought this last june and have loved it ever since. It has awsome sound quality with some good sony headphones and u can always turn on the FM. This would be a 5 star review if i was able to add on memory. My player would delete all the files i was trying to send into it after about 3 files. I was using a 64mb SanDisk card which is one of the best. Now i just have 64mb... o well its better then 32mb like some of the compitition. Its aluminum case feels very sturdy because i have dropped it a few times and have not lost any sound quality. Overall, if u have the bucks to get it, (try ebay like i did, i got it for $...) then get this player. If you want an awsome player with 128mb and u think ud use it all, check out the heftier Intel Pocket Concert.

I found the Rave mp 2200 to have a decent amount of memmory with the option of adding more(so its technically unlimited), an FM tuner and a mic handy for use as a dictaphone, a memo facility( cant be used on the move i.e must be typed in at a computer) as with the tlephone storage. Ive dropped it a good 5 times onto hard surfaces accidentally and no problems so far although the writing wears off after about 3 weeks. Ive had mine for a year now and the main unit still works although the in-line remote failed so im using some panasonic ones now. Overall very good. ... Read more
