5 if Taiyo Yuden
If you receive a pack of these Fuji CDR that has "Made in Japan" on the wrapper - then you have Taiyo-Yuden CDR.But beware--if it says "Made in Taiwan"--you're getting junk.Be sure to check for this before you buy (if possible) or before you remove the wrapper.

Fuji recently changed manufacturers - judging by the change in packaging in the local stores.

There are really only 4 high-quality CDR makes I trust with my life:

1. Taiyo-Yuden
2. Verbatim (Datalife PLUS products only including "Vinyl CDR")
3. Ricoh (products made in Japan)
4. TDK

It is noteworthy that I have had absolutely no problems with the Imation brand, but I cannot highly recommend them, because they are manufactured by CMC, who makes notoriously cheap discs often marketed under other brands such as Memorex and K-Hypermedia.

That's not to say that many people have had luck burning to the cheaper media -- but I wouldn't want to be the one who tries to read the disk somewhere 6 months to several years down the line only to come up with a read error!This has happened to me before and I won't be fooled again...

Taiyo Yuden
Once again, the superior performance and quality of Taiyo Yuden.

If you're wondering what Taiyo Yuden is, it's the manufacturer of the FujiFilm CD-R brand. I consider them to be the #1 manufacturer because of the supremely low C1 error rates, and compatability with all sorts of players.

All Memorex discs are made in low quality factories, which 80-85% of the time produce coasters in half of the spindle.

Some low quality factories include: CMC Magnetics, Lead Data, RiTEK, Prodisc, Princo

Most brands such as Memorex, Sony, Imation, Verbatim, they are all made in these factories.

Maxell 50 Pack CD-R Audio is Taiyo Yuden, I buy them at Sam's Club for 12.88, which is cheap considering the quality of the media. They also like my LITE-ON 52X external, FujiFilm's are the exact same thing, so I suggest you buy them.

Fuji Taiyo Yudens...thumbs up all the way
...these things surpass any memorex brand SO much it isn't even worth discussing. Fuji is already a great leader in film, why not press on with digital media? I've used 50 packs, but the 30 pack should be no different. I remember using these for trading live shows of bands (The Smashing Pumpkins, in general). It gives me such nostalgia, and I only bought Fuji because many traders recommended them, and stores often had mail in rebates for them so you could get them for basically nothing.

The point of this review is, these are quite frankly the best darn CD-Rs that I have ever used. And I mean I've gone through every brand in the book...Imation, Memorex, PNY, Sony, TDK, Durabrand, Teon (yuk), Philips, Maxell, No-name brands...EVERYTHING. Believe me, I've definately had enough time to try out almost every CD-R (a full summer of trading, with over 1000 CDs of live material), and I still stand strong that these Fuji's are the best that there are. If you want any recommendations besides Fuji though, Memorex is also a good brand, as well as TDK (a leader in digital recording technology), and Imation is sometimes good as well, but they have quality control issues that once in awhile you get a few lemons out of a pack.

Bottom Line : For a trusting and reliable brand of media, GET FUJI-FILM!!!

Go with the Memorex black cd-r's instead.
Nice thing about these discs is that they're very inexpensive, and there are almost never any errors.Problem though is that they are too suseptable to damage.If your cds are prone to any sort of wear and tear, you're much better off with the Memorex's. Excellent blank CDs with a lower than generic price!
These CDs are perfect for my audio/video/data needs. They performed way better than "generic" brand CDRs and with an even lower price! (Just $0.10 each) The cheapest CDRs I got before were about $0.12 cents each but they flake off easily and sometimes resulted in coasters. With these... so far, so good! I hope they stock up again soon... and I hope they keep the same low price of $4.99 for a pack of 50!

Basic, but fine....
First of all, I bought them, and the guys who claim that a fingernail will scratch off the surface are full of it.I just tried it, scratching as hard as I could, and couldn't make a dent.

These are basic discs that work just fine, and they're FREE after rebate, for God's sake -- what do you want?As for the idea that they won't be readable after a few years -- don't rely on ANY cd media to be readable after a few years!This format is NOT BUILT FOR DURABILITY, REGARDLESS OF MANUFACTURER!

Yes, you will do better buying Taiyo Yuden cdrs at 50 cents a piece, but even those are dye based and will fade.And I much prefer that these media don't have a lame logo stamped on the top; it means that they look like real cds, and give you the full area to write on if you like.The fact that you can't tell which side is which is a SELLING POINT -- it means they look REAL.(Doesn't every idiot know the writable side is face-down on the spindle?)

No, don't use these for your priceless data (but don't use ANY cdr for that!), but backup your music on them and laugh all the way to the bank.

Not Long lasting
The silver coating can go off very easily. So will not be good for long term storage.
Out of the package, some of the cds were sticking together. And the silver coating started coming out on one of them.

Probably will work if i can get some kind of a sticker to cover the top. Don't know if there is something like that in the market

Another reviewer noted that they are advertised as such. Its true. So incase you want a set of cheap cdr for a short term usage or temporary storage, it might be a good buy.

These discs work good...these are Prodiscs. I have never had a problem with this brand. These have shiny silver tops so it's easy to damage the top and have it start flaking off on you but any silver top media will do that...

Good Quality discs, Marginals cases.
I've used Imation products since 5 1/4 inch floppies.... Some are great some are not as great.. These are good discs, I can burn them in any of my burners REGARDLESS of disc color which is rare in this sort of thing.

The cases however are another story. Thin and brittle they are not really up to the job of protecting these products.
