5-0 out of 5 stars PSP & Sandisk Products
To answer the other comment/reviewer, a PSP is the Sony Playstation Portable. They were released here in the USA in March 2005.It was released in Japan late 2004.Not sure about the rest of the world. The PSP uses memory stick duo media for a variety of purposes, most noteably video, music, and game data.

As far as the product, Sandisk products have been great and I've never seen any compatibility issues with Sandisk versus Sony media, so go for the best price. However, if you have a digital camera that supports high speed transfers, you might want to get the Red Sony High Speed since it supports that high speed transfers. To my knowledge, only Sony, not Sandisk, makes the high speed transfer version. However, from what I understand for PSP usage, you do not need the high speed; although, you can use the high speed in a PSP from what I've read.It could make transfers using a card reader quicker even if not the actual accesses with the PSP.

3-0 out of 5 stars I'm about to buy it but still unsure....
Sorry , this is not a review but rather a question and not even about the product itself....
Most reviewer talk about how good the Sandisk 1Giga Pro Duo works in their PSP.....
Not being an American and not knowing all the techno lingo , please , can anyone tell me what a PSP is ...? ( something to do with the Play Station..?? )
I just bought the Sony DSC T 33 today and as I'm going on a wild trip very soon I need to buy enough memory so I can shoot all the pics I want. This 1 Giga Memory Stick Pro Duo has the best
price-MB relation , the 1 Giga Sony Red Memo Stick Pro Duo I want is not available and heaven knows when it will be .... So....
Lexar has no 1 Giga , so there's no big choice....
Either Sandisk for U$ 119.88 or the Sony for US 367.00 or so.....
Well... anyone can still tell me what a PSP is...? I'm going to buy this Sandisk Memo Stick right now.....

5-0 out of 5 stars No PSP should be without it.
This is just the thing you need to get the most out of your PSP. I already have quite a few videos and mp3's on my1GB PSP memory stick pro duo and their is still room for more! It's worth every penny. The 512MB is around 80 bucks, so fo just 40 more dollars save some cash and get twice the size. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, recommend to everyone
It's the perfect stick. It's the same as the special "Yellow" one, but it's cheaper, and comes with an adapter. You have to use the adapter with most memory card readers, since they don't usually read the memory stick duo sized chips. But I've put it into 3 seperate readers, and they all worked. I have not tried this chip in my digital camera which takes Memory Stick Pro media (the larger one) but Sony says it should work.

A previous reviewers said it was incompatible, but Sony says it will work in any device which supports Memory Stick Pro or Memory Stick Pro Duo. It is incompatible with Memory Stick devices (without the Pro or Duo in their names).

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great!!
Despite what the other review says i have had no problems transfering data using my built in card reader in my Sony Vaio.Good price, comes with the Standard Memory Stick adapter.Works great with PSP. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great, but not what I expected in looks.
Bottom line, the 512 Cruzer Micro is a great usb drive to own, it'sextremely slim, light, and portable. Everything you could ask for.

However, the only issue I had was that the Cruzer was upgraded, and what I had ordered here from Amazon was different when I received my package. The LED at the end of the drive that lights up is Green instead of Blue, I was a little bit shocked and dissapointed even though it's purely an aesthetic feature. The clear outer casing is rubber and can be swapped for either the Blue or Red cases that also come with the drive.

Overall I'm definately happy with the performance of the Cruzer Micro, though I still want other people to know that this product has been updated from SanDisk, with minor changes to the look.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive survivability
Ok, I got this about a year ago when it was handy to take things to and from work.It worked great for me.The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the cap came off very easily and soon was lost . . . and it also came with another type of holder that too was easily lost. The stap that you can use to keep it around your neck broke pretty easily.I ended up finding the slide in case that came with it, but then I found it broken in my pocket not too long afterwards. It was kinda annoying being given a product that had so many breakable parts.I was just glad the drive itself wasn't so easy to break, but then I wasn't going to take chances given how crappy the rest of its packaging had been.

Then I lost it.Yeah it's small and i'm clumsy. But I found it again when the ganitor gave it to the department office claiming "They found it in their vacuum cleaner."GREAT!$50 down the drain. But wait...it worked!Well that's impressive.

Then I lost it again.Yeah it's small and i'm clumsy and absent minded.I left it this time in a pocket... and it found its way into the laundry.Washer + Cheer with color guard in a load of white + hot water = dead drive.Wait... it still worked?Wow.

I did this one more time and it went through the dryer.Ok, so i'm the clumsiest and most forgettful soul, but it still worked after that too!I was tempted to microwave it and run it with my dishes in the wash just to see how well it would hold up then too, but i didn't.Industrial vacuum cleaner, washer, dryer . . . still winking away with its little blue light.I was very impressed that it still worked. Now if the rest of the packaging could be as durable.

It was 512, perfect size for me to take Microsoft office files back and forth and even keep a small program installed on it.It is small, thumb drive and no larger than any other USB plug.I bought a Banzai 512 to replace this during one of the times that I lost it.The Banzai requires a USB extension to operate as it is too big and takes up about 3 USB slots just because of its awkward shape. This is a great little device that i've had for a while now (3 months w/o losing it again) and I use it the most.

I also won $5 on a bet that it wouldn't work after being vacuumed up.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent device, though different from the one pictured
I had purchased this model in the 256 MB size and wanted the small capacity in a 512 MB model. What I got was apparently a newly designed, slimmer model than the previous cruzer micro. The rubber is gone, making the device extra slim, the thickness of a USB connector and as long as two quarters placed side by side. It's small enough to fit in one's wallet, and very nice. If you liked the rubber grip of the old model, this one still comes with 3 rubber "skins" of different colors to customize your micro. The blue light is now green.

4-0 out of 5 stars Slight variations from description
Just got my Cruzer today and was thrilled to find it came with two extra sleeves--a red one and a blue one, but wasn't too thrilled to discover a green LED instead of the blue one I ordered.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best 512MB you can find
The Micro continues to be my favorite flash drive, design and functionally; I have Micros of several sizes from 128MB to 1GB and I intend to get more as the capacity increases.

This device transfers data to and from devices that support USB Flash drives (computers etc.) very quickly and efficiently, and requires absolutely no drivers in plug-and-play operating systems like Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Mac OS X.Use it as storage for your MP3 player, keep your important documents backed up on it, or even work right the drive--with performance like this, the possibilities are endless. The Micro also supposedly comes with built-in security for each unit, but I've never used it.

The slim 'Micro' physical design also deserves a standing ovation. The actual unit is very short and isn't much wider than a USB port, so it fits anywhere. The cap is pretty smug and when you take it off to use the drive, it fits conveniently on the reverse end.If you loose the cap, it comes with extras, or you can buy them separately. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars small, does what it says.
it's tiny, cheap, and works as expected so far.Dosn't feel too fragile and the included rubber covers seem to be designed well, just make sure you push the cover on firmly.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Micro is the best on the market

3-0 out of 5 stars Model revision
I am only giving three stars to the cruzer micro simply because i don't care for their revisions to the model. Outside of the revisions this is still a very sturdy and reliable drive. the first complaint is that there is no longer a blue LED light which was one of there "special features" and for me a selling point. it's back to crummy green. The second is that the body is no longer coated with a sturdy transparent plastic but now with a removable translucent one. The only advantage to the revision is now the protective cap actually stays on the unit for more than half an hour. I owned one of the original models and would gladly put up with no cap to have the original better looking drive. If you would like to see pictures of what this drive really looks like you need to go to the sandisk site.

3-0 out of 5 stars Photo NOT accurate???
I bought this specifically to put it on my key chain. When I got it, I checked to make sure I got the right model number, and then opened the package. The reason I looked is that it came with 2 colored plastic covers, and a shoe-lace like thing for your neck. The model number matched exactly though.

But I should have looked at the picture too...the one I got does NOT match what is pictured here!!The piece at the top where you would put into your keychain is different!!The opening is rotated 90 degrees, and does NOT fit well on a keychain.Go to sandisk.com to see a picture of the "new" design (I will also try to add it here, above.)

The drive works fine, but as another reviewer noted, what good is this thing if you dont have it with you all the time?

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy and portable
I bought this product in spite of several reviews I saw that claimed it stopped working after a month or two. I've had this small device for three months and it works as well as ever.

Because of its small size, it can fit in between the other USB devices plugged into my computer. The cap, although slightly loose, stays on in pockets. It also comes with a larger cap to prevent scratches and damage, but it seems to be nearly indestructable anyway. I've dropped it several times, but it still functions perfectly.

It comes with some encryption software pre-installed, but it's easily removed if you don't want it. Transfers are high-speed, and (with WinXP, anyway) you can configure it so you don't have to click the "safely remove hardware" icon before removing.

Overall, this thing is great! Lots of space for a great price. 5 out of 5. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Been working good for me
Bought this a week ago and it works perfectly. To all the people having problems recognizing the card in the PSP, you probably tried to format it on your PC.It says in the PSP manual to NEVER format the memory card in your PC, as your PSP will not be able to recognize it once you do this.

If you have to format the card, there's an easy and quick way to do it in the PSP option menu.NEVER format your memory card on your PC!

Well, I'm happy with this thing, no problems so far and you cant beat that price.

5-0 out of 5 stars great product! but read my review as an fyi...
first of all, i'm not reviewing this memory stick based on an irrelevant circuit city snafu with their price last year... nor am i reviewing it based on psp use.

i am reviewing this 512mb sandisk memory stick duo pro (as pictured here at amazon), based on the use with a sony digital camera, sony dsc-t7.

i initially purchased this at a brick and mortar store and was enthused at the terrific price for it, similar to amazon's price. however, upon inserting it, it did not feel right. it seemed like i was in for the negative reviews which people have been posting...
i fliped it, turned it over, it didn't seem right. it fit the slot sliding in and i pushed it down. i ended up having to remove it with a tweezer! lol.

simply put, i got a defective card.

upon returning it to the store, i insisted that it was defective and asked them if i could exchange it. due to the aforementioned circumstance, i wanted the sales rep to open the package and i wanted to see if the stick fit in the camera. low and behold, the new one did and the camera immediately recognized it. it's perfect and has been working very well.

just be aware, if you are going to a brick and mortar store, bring your camera and make sure that it actually FITS! you will save yourself the hassle of returning, explaining, contesting, exchanging, etc. if you go click and mortar, open the package immediately and test it right away. do not bring an unopened package to a vacation spot somewhere, only to be disappointed that it doesn't fit or that it may even damage your camera if you try to force it.

aside from the slight annoyance of exchanging it, it works perfectly and it functions like a normal memory stick should for a digicam... for storing, retrieving and transfering pictures taken. am very happy with it!

1-0 out of 5 stars same problem as everyone else...
This card works fine in my computer, but I bought it for my PSP. everyone at my work swore by this card. they don't seem to have any trouble with it (YET!) but i'm having a lot of the same problems as some of the reviews i've read. the card isn't recognized by my PSP whatsoever. I haven't gotten it to work once. If you're buying this for PSP, be warned! you may get lucky, and it may work... or it may not. thanks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Card!
I got this for my PSP and it works great.Much better than Sony card, especially given price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked great...for about a week
Like many others, I purchased this for use in my Sony PSP.I loaded it up with some MP3's before getting on an 8 hour flight and it worked great.About a week later it suddenly stopped working. The PSP no longer recognizes it and when I plug it into my laptop I get a message saying the card needs to be formatted. No problem, just format it, right?Well, when I try to format it I get a message saying that the card can not be found.

I really liked this product at this price...it's a shame it didn't work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars da best
As a gadget lover, I've had many usb drives (u name it) and so far
this one is the best of them all.. very rugged and reliable; the cap-less design ALONE is reason enough to buy it over the rest, BELIEVE me, I don't have to worry again about loosing those stupid caps.. the design is very simple yet elegant. If you have a Mac PowerBook, it looks like a Mac drive..hehNow regarding speed, it is blazing fasst and the indigo blue led is very very cool.

Buy it, I can assure you this is the best drive out there. Sandisk is coming out with a 1 and 2 Gigs versions soon.

BTW, you don't need that software. its worthless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Worth the Money
After a lot of research I was stuck between Cruzer Titanium and Apacer Handy Steno HT203. My main preference was performance and design. Both of these flash drives are great in terms of no issues of losing caps. Titanium was a bit expensive but finally I got a very good deal at staples and bought it out for $40. Some users expreienced some issues that I didn't, mainly 1)It worked for me in all USB ports for my computer (I have front ones too), 2) As per arstechnica.com this drive is not bootable, but I was able to make it bootable and was able to boot. I used the known HP utiltiy; you do need a version of DOS so do make a DOS diskette handy, 3) Although the included software for synch and backup was trial initially, Sandisk has made it free and full functional in the new version for Cruzer titanium drives and believe me all three included utilities are worth the money. Moreover the software can also sych files and folders other than outlook in new version. The included keychain was a bit difficult to stuck in and I did scratch the drive a bit while doing that. Performance wise the drive ran three times faster on my machine compared to my friend's 1GB Apacer Handy Steno HT203. I cannot comment on the reliability of the drive as its too early for me, but you do get 5 years of warranty. Overall I am happy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Believe the bad reviews
You should believe the bad reviews on this product.I took a chance because I loved the design.Bad mistake.

I needed the piece of junk at a customer site and it let me down after less than six months of owning it and light use.It just stopped working. There was no possibility of recovery. It never went near a magnetic field -- I was very careful.

SanDisk can count on me never buying their products again!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little USB drive
So far this is a great little drive. It's much smaller then some other USB drives that I've seen, and the capacity is great at 512 meg.I've had it since December 2004 so I'm on month 4, we'll see if it quits working as others have said, but so far I love it.

The only minor complaint that I have, ok actually 2 very minor things.

1.The ring that attaches to the end of the unit where you clip on the strap was EXTREMELY annoying to get on the device. In fact if you look at the pictures the one where it shows the ring, you can tell that that user also had to stretch the ring out quite a bit to get it in place.I had to use several tools to wedge it into the small space and spin it around to get it into place.

2.The slide mechanism seems to be a little difficult to use.Although this seems to have loosened up a bit through use, when I first got it I had to use two hands to extend the USB connector. But I do really love the ability to retract the connector.

So long as it doesn't die on me, I do reccommend this drive.

4-0 out of 5 stars high price per Mb, but nice
I've been using the cruzer USB key drive for a few months now and it has served me well so far. It's sort of crazy that people are complaining about attaching the key ring; this only takes about 30sec if you have any competence with tools (i.e. a pair of needle nose pliers).

One odd thing is that it gets pretty warm if you leave the drive pluggedin too long (a few hours).I'm not sure if this is because of the blue led on top, or due to the actual memory circuits. There doesn't seem to be any functional consequences to the heat build-up, but it probably doesn't do good things for the longevity of the drive.

Bottom line:It looks cool and works well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent drive
No prob with it for the past 3 months. I would recommend it to anybody who needs a cheap 1GB portable drive!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very decent product, poor cap design
The keychain portion of my thumbdrive broke completely off after a mere 4 weeks of carrying it around on my keychain. There are other thumbdrives that have much sturdier cap designs, so if you are planning on attaching this to your keychain, you may consider shopping around some more and paying close attention to ergonomics.

Aside from the brittle cap loop, the drive works great and i'm happy with its performance.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is OK but you can do better.
The 1GB storage is nice but watch the ads because you should be able to get a SanDisk or maybe even a Lexar for between $55 and $65. As has been mentioned by other reviewers, this is not as fast as other thumb drives. Another drawback is the shape. Some machines have recessed and/or side by side USB ports, particularly in the front. Because the recessed areas are usually narrow, and close together, this series of USB thumb drive does not plug in unless you have a USB patch cable which makes one more thing for you to carry around. For these reasons I like my SanDisk Cruzer mini better and can only rate the Memorex as OK. Another note, if you have SD, CF, or other digital media cards, you might consider getting a mini card reader. (They run between $10 and $20 depending on the media and manufacturer) They are similar in size to some of the larger thumb drives and do have a USB patch cord but you can then use your digital media just like a thumb drive. Not to mention you can keep adding capacity with additional Digital media cards. P.S. Swimming is not a recommended activity with any electronic device ;-), someone's lucky they didn't fry their motherboard.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOTE TO SELF...
Just a warning to other potential purchasers - this product is NOT water-proof.I went swimming with my Flash Drive and to my surprise, it shorted out - now I can't get it to work!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little thumb drive!
I've had This Memorex thumb drive for quite awhile now and as a "non-traditional student" back in college I find it invaluable and wonder how I ever got away without having one when I went through college for my first degree. I've mistakenly tromped on it, dropped it in my cereal bowl, and got in the shower once before noticing it was still around my kneck. It's a very sturdy drive. I would say that a very picky person could complain that it's an ity bit too wide to fit well in the USB slots behind SOME of the older computers becuase of where the rest of the computers wiring inserts.Fix that with an extension cable, who wants to be messing around behind their computer every time they want to insert their thumb drive anyway? ... 1-0 out of 5 stars sudden failure
Had this drive for about a month. Slowerer than my 512 sandisk micro and did't fit as well in several slots.

This jumpdrive sport is marketed as robust but failed after a month with a crack along the seam -- same as others report in various hardware forums. I treated it pretty carefully so I was suprised.

5-0 out of 5 stars works perfectly
I had another thumb drive go bad on me, and this was the replacement / upgrade. So far, so good; this baby works like a charm! It's perfect for shared terminals, and I use it both on a mac and on several PCs.

One tip: be sure to eject it when using it on a mac. Once, when I didn't "eject" it first, the mac wouldn't recognize it.It worked normally on the PC, and then came back to life again on the mac later on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive but helpful
I bought this a few months ago and I haven't had a problem. The rubber frame keeps the drive safe from bumps and drops, and the drive itself is small and compact.A great bargin with plenty of storage space.Highly Recomended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best thing ever!!!
Absolutely fabulous!! You can not do any better than this lexar flash drive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great thumbdrive.
I was able to get this last autumn for $50 after rebate. The fact that you can fit more than a CD-ROM's worth of data on this drive is killer.

The USB 2.0 is rather necessary, though. If you're moving a large amount of data from one PC to another, you'll definitely want the 480 MBit/sec transfer capability of USB 2.0... USB 1.1 may take a few years. However, the backward compatibility is still pretty nice, if you're only moving 10 MB or less.

I bought this before I knew of the JumpDrive MP3 player that Lexar makes. If you're really interested in adding MP3 capability later, it's only a $40 upgrade from this, which definitely enhances the value of this product.

Overall, I've had no problems, so it seems to be reliable to me as well.

It's a must-buy if you can find it for $60 or less. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Quality
This is the 2nd time to return this card back to Lexar. Keep getting errors and they do not reimburse postage.

3-0 out of 5 stars My experience with the 256MB version of this card...
Before you purchase this card, make sure that your camera supports the Write Acceleration Technology. I purchased Lexar's 40x 256MB card (with Write Acceleration) about a year ago for my Minolta DiMage 7Hi camera, and realized my camera did not support the new technology. The CF card still worked, but there was no increase in speed over other cards.

I checked Lexar's website, and it said that my camera does not support the Write Acceleration technology. The link is here: http://www.lexar.com/digfilm/wa_cf.html

Current (as of this review) cameras supporting WA technology:
- All Kodak Professional cameras and pro camera backs, such as the DCS Pro Back 645, DCS Pro Back Plus, DCS 720x, DCS 760, DCS 760m and DCS 14n
- Nikon D1x, D1h, D-100 (Requires camera firmware upgrade by Nikon. See Nikon's web page for more details) and D2h
- Sanyo DSC-MZ3
- Sigma SD-9
- Sigma SD10
- Pentax *ist D
- Olympus E1

Lexar USB Card Reader (included):
- Works only with Lexar CF Cards. Attempted to use with SanDisk and Kingston CF Cards but did not work. Should not be a problem if you only use Lexar products. However, if you do, consider buying a separate card reader.

For a full breakdown of how many pictures you can take with different card capacities, go to http://www.lexar.com/digfilm/capacity_chart.html

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, fast, compatible with wide range of devices
I bought the Lexar 1GB 40x CF card to use in my Nikon D70 digital SLR camera.Originally I had a 256MB CF card but that one would not support high-speed write so I couldn't take full advantage of Nikon's 3fps continuous mode. The Lexar 40x CF card simply works, and now I can shoot burst pics at the D70's 3fps speed without any problems.

I have always liked Lexar's flash memory products, as I've never had a single problem with the dozen of them I've owned (CF, SD, MS).Lexar's cards are also compatible with a wider range of products than Sandisk or Viking. The only other flash brand I totally trust is Panasonic, but they only make SD these days.

If you have a digital SLR the 40x speed should be enough.I don't know of any current d-SLR that really takes advantage of anything higher than 6mbps. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about.Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Lexar Media 512MB xD-Picture Cards XD512-231, like most 512MB cards, will store on average 568 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 426 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,256 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 204 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 160 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this 512MB card is the right capacity for your specific needs. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Portable and quick
I keep driver and system software updates on this, as well as many sundry items, and it's just large enough to not get lost in my luggage or pocket. The rubber ribbing makes it easy to grip, and it turned out to be invaluable while I was upgrading a team of G5s. I told my boss that with a half-a-dozen of these, I'd be able to rule all of IT.

1-0 out of 5 stars You can do better for the $
Pros
1. I got this one because it had a security feature, which is easy to use and set up.
2. It's small enough to carry easily in your pocket but big enough with enough 'heft' that it get lost easily. It's about the size of a remote car door opener.
Cons
1. I noticed quickly that its wider form meant that it would block out any USB port that is adjacent in a side by side array like on a laptop and most USB hubs, sort of like a large person who can't really fit into a single seat on an airplane and has to buy two tickets. The only way that it wouldn't be a factor is if I used the stacked array ports on my desk top or used an extension cord [which doesn't seem to fit with the idea of being portable, does it?]. If I used a hub, which I usually do, I'd stick it on the end so it'd only take up 2 slots, instead of three. That was an annoyance that kept me from replacing it - which brings me to the final point..
3. Unreliability - despite it's rugged appearance, it died after about a year. I'd had another cheaper Lexar thumb drive do the same before, one that I'd bought after this, but I thought it was a fluke. Then I read on a computer mag's site about the complaints of others regarding Lexar's lack of durability, so it seems to be a question to consider.
So overall - I'd steer clear, and if you already have one - just use it to transport files that you've backed up elsewhere. DON'T think of it as your backup...you'll regret that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Product worked fine
Overall, I am very satisfied with the JumpDrive. At first I was uncomfortable purchasing it after seeing the previous two overwhelmingly negative reviews. The reviewers were complaining about two issues: having to install the "secure" software and the customer support.

As far as the "secure" software goes, if you would like to use the secure partition, you would obviously be required to install the "secure" software onto the computer. Not sure what they were complaining about (the last reviewer was probably using the JumpDrive on an older unsupported version of Windows). You can choose not to install the software, and have the entire JumpDrive be "unsecure".

I can't comment on customer support since my JumpDrive worked fine and I didn't need any!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Product, Horrible Support
This product sounds great, but in practice it is a bad idea. For you to get to your "secure" partition, you must run software from the jumpdrive when you install. This can be very problematic. As you might expect, it often doesn't work. When I run this on my machine I get a mysterious "Error [-10011]".

The only thing worse than Lexar's software is their support. I emailed them and they mailed me back their boiler plate "Please reformat your drive" response. I traded email with them several times and all of there responses were: reformat the drive (several times), download the latest software (several times), more specific instructions on formatting the drive (which I didn't need, I managed to format it and lose my data just fine the first time!). I would write back and tell them that their solution didn't solve my issue, and they would email me back with the same solution, as if some how, magically, it would just start working. Finally, they told me to call them.

I called, and am now on hold. 20+ minutes. Avoid this company like the plague. I'm going to throw mine in the trash and move on with my life.

I'll give you three guesses where their support is located...

UPDATE: I got through to customer support. They man was clueless. He sent me to another number which, of course, was just voice mail. I will now throw this product in the trash.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!
I was really excited to get the JumpDrive because of the reviews I read.True, it is a lot more durable than many flash drives, but I've had so many problems that it's entirely not worth it.From day one I was unable to use it with most of the computers at school because the JumpDrive tries to install its "secure" software onto whatever computer you plug it into. Most public computers will not allow this due to all of the computer viruses going around.Unfortunately, if the software doesn't install you can't access the drive.Another problem that I've had while using it with friends' computers is that it will occasionally delete entire batches of files!I've always been careful to properly eject the device, but more than once it has deleted numerous files that I had recently saved onto it.I generally like Lexar products, but not this.My friends have cheaper flashdrives that do a much, MUCH better job. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Affordable 4GB CompactFlash Card
This is not the fastest 4GB card currently available, but it's 4GB, and it's from a well-known and reliable manufacturer. It's a Type I card (slimmer than Type II), and it has a little three-position switch on the side.

If the device(s) were you'd be using this card support FAT32, you most likely will put the switch in position 1, and have the whole card formatted as one big partition. Alternatively, switch positions 2 and 3 allow switching between two 2GB partitions that can be formatted using FAT16 supported by older devices. Effectively the card works as two different 2GB cards with a flick of the switch in this mode.

Following information is for Nikon D70 camera owners who want to use this CompactFlash card with their camera. I purchased this card to use with my D70 camera. It seems to work fine. I formatted mine as a whole 4GB in FAT32 mode. Initially the camera did not want to format the card using the "two-button" mode, but formatted all-right using the on-screen menu. You may want to check to make sure your camera has the latest firmware.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great card!
This card is so fast.I have never had a proublem with any Lexar product.A+ in my book.

2-0 out of 5 stars It works but not as you would presume it should !!!
There is no problem with the card or capacity. But when I compare my results with Lexar 12X card, there is NO difference in the time it takes to store the image ( once you click the camera ) !!!. Yes, restoring images from the card to computer is very fast compared to my 12x card. But while snapping photos there is no difference in speed. This could be because of the camera or some other reason...but my main reason to buy a 40x card was to snap photos as fast as possible.

By the way I am using this card in Nikon 5700 camera. Make sure that your camera supports the Write Acceleration Technology. he CF card will work, **BUT** there was no increase in speed over other cards. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product for anyone in the business
This is a great product - it replaces diskettes and for anyone in a non-networked environment it is essential. I occasionally do consulting for home users and I carry my antivirus, spyware and browser software with me whenever I go to someone's house, not to mention OS patches and device drivers, etc. One customer was so amazed he jumped right online and ordered one for himself. Only drawback - I'm still waiting for a replacement cap from them (they are currently out of stock) so if anyone has an extra one I would sure appreciate it! One caveat - if you need to use it on a Windows 95/98/Me machine and it doesn't have internet access, carry the drivers for it (available from lexarmedia.com) on a diskette - any other machine recognizes it instantly and installs it right away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small & Fast, with a Read-Only Switch
I got the drive in early December 2004, and it has been working great since then. So far, the most intensive worked I've done with it was to transfer a dozen gigs worth of files from the my desktop to the laptop, or hauling some files over to a friends house. Everything went without a hitch, and the drive is definetly fast.

One of the things I like about it is its read-only switch; I think this is a very useful feature when you want to read some files from it, without risking getting any viruses from the host computer. It's a good safeguard when using it on someone else's machine, on campus computers, or in any other non-trustworthy environment.

The drive is quite small, and I had no problems in plugging it into the USB ports of more than five desktops (including the frontside of a DELL), and a couple of laptops. In contrary to other brands I've seen other people use, and perhaps even Lexar's older models - this one has a good narow design around the USB connector, so there should be no problems connecting it.

Drawbacks? Well, the read/write switch is hard to access; perhaps Lexar was overly concerned that some users might flip it inadvertently.

A few details for those who wish to know: I have the JD1GB-80-501 model, Revision C (perhaps Lexar modified their codes?). Also, I've formatted it with the NTFS filesystem. Users who are unfamiliar with file permissions in NTFS are better off with FAT32.
The drive comes formatted with FAT16, so I strongly suggest that people reformat it with FAT32, in order to avoid restrictions imposed by FAT16, such as a limit on the number of files in the top directory (that is E:\, if your drive is E:).

2-0 out of 5 stars Okay but won't buy again
I've had the drive for about a year, use it daily and rely on it to handle file backups between work & home. I have had to reformat it twice since I got it, and now it won't hold its format. Even if I can get it reformatted, I don't feel it is reliable. I plan to buy a new one from a different manufacturer, partly because of the problems I've had with it losing its format (and my data!), but also because the curved shape has been a problem from the start. The shape makes it easy to grasp but it makes it too wide to fit into the USB port area on the front of my desktop PC's. I have to use a cable, which makes it less compact/portable. Generally, I like Lexar products (have used their media readers) but I don't plan to buy a flash drive from them again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very poor jumpdrive reliability
My Jumpdrive worked for two weeks then died.I waited two days to get an RMA, paid to return the drive, and waited over two weeks for a new one.It only worked for a week.

Lexar refuses to exchange it for a different one, and will only continue to send me the same unreliable product (at my shipping expense).Their quality is far inferior to that of other manufacturers such as PNY.
