2-0 out of 5 stars To get this thing working in XP
The pedal was designed by an idiot but to get this thing working in XP:

1. CLick Start - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL.
2. In the Control Panel, double click on the "Game Controllers"
3. Once in the Game Controller Window, first make sure that the
Controller/Status box is empty. **(If it is not empty, click the "REMOVE"
button to clear all its contents)**
4. Click "ADD" and select "2-Axis 4-Button" and then click "OK"
5. Once the status on the controller reads "OK", click on the "PROPERTIES"
button.
6. Select the "SETTINGS" Tab and then click the "CALIBRATE" button.
7. Follow the on screen instructions to calibrate your joystick.
8. Now, click the "TEST" tab.
9. On the Test Screen you can check to make sure that your controller is
functioning properly.
10. Now click the "APPLY" button to save your changes and then click "OK" to
exit.

Windows XP!

4-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't beat for the $$$$$$$$$$$
I have owned this wheel for 8 or 9 years, still works, but when I bought it, it was the best deal for the money, comparing $40 to then $90 and up, but today, the best buy on the market has to be Logitech GP force feedback, for $69 and less.
Still for youngsters, the V3 works great, and as long as you don't try to use it as a paper weight, or stand on it it should last as mine has, and we have used it "a bunch"

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a Good Wheel.
Alot of the reviews I've read on here have nothing to do with the wheel being bad. Its just that their computers just suck. If you have a decent computer and want a good cheap wheel with pedals than this is the one. Most of the reviews on here make it sound like they were wanting to get all the great functions and capability of a $150 wheel in this $40 wheel. The only problem I had was the tilt. It takes some getting used to. The pedals are alittle light so make sure u have something behind them to keep them from moving. Other than that I see no problems with it. It's worked for all my racing games and even my flight sims. Just remember your going to get what you pay for. IMO You get plenty for your money in this wheel. The button configuration are easilyused while driving and you can change the sensitivy of the wheel while playing the game. Its one of the best your gunna find for its price tag.

1-0 out of 5 stars InterAct going out of business or what?
I just bought this wheel at chrstams on SuperSale at Best Buy (with a rebate no less).I openned the box and there was no driver disk.I tried to set it up on my Windows XP and my Windows 2000 and it is asking for the driver disk.I tried the website that is mentioned and it is no longer up and running.I read and news report on line that InterAct was bought out in full last week by Mad Catz, which would explain alot about the poor customer service.I now have two of these wheels that are as good as paper weights without the drivers disk.Stay away - don't bother with this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome price, no hassles!
This gamepad is a no-brainer.For under $10, you get a gamepad that you can just plug in, and it works, first try, with Windows XP... which is exactly what I wanted. No drivers, no hassles! The D-Pad seems much improved over previous versions, and is 3x better than the very-hard-to-use D-Pad on my (original) Wingman Rumblepad. It has 8 buttons that work when you press them. The overall size of the gamepad is a bit smaller than some of the other models, and it works perfectly for my 6-yr-old.The USB cable is a bit longer than the other gamepads I've used, which is a plus.

The only thing I see that could be improved is to include the 2 extra buttons (Start and Select), which would have made it exactly like the Gravis Gamepad Pro.Some games like to have to two extra buttons, but most will let you just use the computer keyboard for those features (pause the game, go back to the menu, etc.).

All in all, you can't lose with this gamepad... order 2 or 3 and get everyone in on the game!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT LOW-END JOYSTICK!
I bought this joystick because it was the middle of the summer, I was low on cash, and I needed a new gamepad for my gameing comp. So I looked around, and after a while, once you strip off all the bells and whistles(Vibrating, Dual Analog Sticks, etc.) You eventually come to this one. I plugged it in. Set it up, and in a matter of seconds was blasting T.I.E. Fighters out of the sky with it. I wouldn't send mine back.

1-0 out of 5 stars OH THE HORROR
While others love Thrustmaster, I made the mistake of trying their low end model first. After returning it to COMPUSA for another cause it wouldn't connect via the USB, the second one wouldn't either.Needless to say this one doesn't work either.BAD BAD BAD WEBSITE SUPPORT TOO!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad quality.
This gamepad, like other Logitech gamepads, have horrible problems. The analog stick is incredibly inaccurate and never calibrates correctly.I'm a game programmer, and I needed some game pads a while back for a game I made.I purchased 5 Logitech pads at one time.Every single one has given me hardware problems, either with the z slider breaking off, the controller losing connection when the wire is held at certain angles, the analog stick plastic piece falling off, the D pad not sending the correct directions, or the analog stick not calibrating correctly.

In short, stay away from Logitech gamepads. They're of horrible quality.

2-0 out of 5 stars calibration problems
As one of the other reviewers mentioned, there seems to be a calibration problem with the left joystick, at least in the batch that Amazon is selling (and Logitech doesn't make this model anymore, so you can't get a fresh one). I've tried two of them and in both cases, the left joystick won't stay centered.

2-0 out of 5 stars Decent, but wouldn't recommend it
My beef with this controller is that the calibration is continuously getting out of whack on the left joystick. The company has no fix for it, and it is not game specific. This can be temporarily fixed by resetting the calibration, but it's still a pain in the rear end.

1-0 out of 5 stars like every other gamepad I had for the pc, a piece of junk

This pad fall in the catagorey of all the games pads for the pc that I have tried. CRAP!!!! It broke after a week of play. The software that came with it was good, but all the software in the world can't make up. I threw it into the street in frustration. Why can't they make a durable game pad for pc's? They have them for console systems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Been usieing this pad for 4 years now
Four years an no problems other than droping it and breaking the thumb controls .....but thats nothing alil super glue couldnt fix....I play MotorCross Madness 2 with this pad EVERYDAY......Very nice and sesitive...... If i were to buy another controler it would be a wingman rumble pad! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MY DOG CHEWED MY XBOX CABLE
There are days when kicking he dog might be justified and today is it. At least they sell the replacement.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good cable to come with the Xbox
This cable comes with your Xbox when you buy it.Its a good all-around cable. But you can make the graphics much more crisp and clear with a Monster Cable(if you don't mind spending a good amount of money for a cable).Anyway, this cable is a good cable to come with the Xbox.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its not too bad
In my opinion the cord itself is not that bad, but is definitely overpriced. If your going to buy an av cable, treat yourself for an extra (price) and get a top of the line Monster Cable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Cable Ever!
This is the cable that comes with every new X-Box. Whoever designed this cable should be beaten with a large bag of Swedish Fish. I guess they failed to realize that some people would like to connect the Video (yellow) cable to their Television and the Audio (Red and White) to their stereo/surround receiver. Too bad the 3 plugs are fused together leaving about 2 inches to spare between each one. With all the time spent designing this console, you would think SOMEONE would realize it's not a good idea to force the plugs together.

I would seriously give this cable a Zero star if it would let me. Now I am forced into buying the (...) advanced A/V pack just so I can hook up the console properly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for younger kids!
My 6 y/o has played Tony Hawk with his older cousins and I never really liked the "grung" characters and the subliminal (in my opinion)music. Then we rented this Disney game and were thrilled with a great alternative for younger kids! They can do all the tricks, wrack up lots of points, and unlock the higher levels.Lots of fun settings and characters! He really liked creating his own characters that look like real kids! Good clean fun for the younger kids who don't need to be exposed to Tony Hawk yet!If younger kids can quickly beat this game, then perhaps they are spending too much time in front of the screen!Great for the younger kids! Thanks, Disney!

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than you'd think.
This game isn't bad, despite people thinking anything Disney is horrible. It has very similar mechanics as the Tony Hawk series, but it falls short in the game variet of the THPS series. That doesn't mean it isn't fun, however. The game will be more fun than THPS4 in your first time through, but it won't keep you playing forever. All in all, it's a good rental/buy if you're a Disney fan... if not, just get Tony Hawk.

4-0 out of 5 stars Go Goofy Go!!!!
My 6 year old pick this game out himself and has been playing everyday before he goes to school and the the last activity he does at night. He just loves the action of this game and to be truthful we love playing it with him.I recommend this game to the young at heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars We love it.
I don't want to rain on the parade, but every time we rent the thing we have a blastMy 6 and 8 year olds have re-bonded, and they appreciate the Goofy wipe-out ("Hoo Hoo!Garsh!" etc.) over the unrealistic, but nonetheless disturbing blood geysers of T.H.I'm buying it because I value family.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this thing!!!
It SUCKS!!! This controller doesn't work with Windows XP. Buy it at your own risk!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Ehhhhh...well it's only 10 bucks.
First off, if you have Windows XP, the software that comes with the controller won't work, so you can't really use the shift button the way it's meant to be used.It works fine other than that, but my only major problem with it is for some reason my laptop often doesn't recognize it's plugged in.It's pretty annoying, but still usable.I got it just because I wanted the cheapest functioning gamepad I could find, and I wouldn't recomment it for any purpose other than that.

3-0 out of 5 stars If your pad is defective....
I'm thinking about ordering this pad since the price is under $10.For those who have defective pads, did you try contacting microsoft for a replacement?Microsoft is usually good about replacing defective hardware.I've had good success with their keyboard, and mice. Not sure about game pads, but it's worth a try since most that experience problems are under 1 year period.

3-0 out of 5 stars worked great at first
I loved this gamepad, untill It started randomly sticking, same problem that the other reviewer had. I'm debating should I buy another or not, I got about 8 months out of this before it started malfunctioning. My old gameport version ms gamepad still works after 7 years, so I dont think I got my monies worth from the gamepad pro. Too bad

3-0 out of 5 stars Iffy
I've owned my Sidewinder Gamepad Pro for about 6 - 7 months. My first impressions where good.I bought it planning to play my more console type games (Bubble Bobble, Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2, etc.).The controller feels relativly comfortable in your hands, and the software is easy and very configurable.Aside from a minor stupidities in the software the inital impression was very good.

After the first month or so of use, i began to be irritated by the small bevels of plastic on the under side below the triggers and on the d-pad.After an hour or so of play, the raised bevel begans to create a small indentation in your fingers - not cool.I finally broke down one day and whipped out my pocket knife and carved them off.I polished it down a bit to a smooth finish and the controller was better than ever.

After four or five months of use however, i began to notice a very un-cool feature. At times the d-pad will randomly stick or not response. There is nothing more frustrating that fighting your way all the way to level 6 only to find that mario gets stuck on the left part of the screen because the d-pad is being stupid again.Wondering if mine was defective, i began to check around my friends.I wasn't the only one.At this point, 6 or 7 months later, my Gamepad sits with the cord wrapped around it on the shelf. It annoys me too much.It usually works, but those times that it doesn't you want to slam it into the floor. My recommendation is to look for a different, non-microsoft controller.Just my pref. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
The movie this game is based on is probably my favorite movie of all time. The game does a pretty good job following the story with futuristic twists. At times the hordes of enemys get a little old but its a good time to practice moves. As far as saving goes, I am pretty sure the game saves your place every time it goes to a load screen, even though it does not advertise this it does. Who wants to quit in the middle of a chapter anyway? I found the game to be much like the movie once it was over I really wished it wasn't.

As far as game play goes I wish I had more control over the camera. That's about my only complaint.

I highly recommend this game, for its story line and game play. Its not an extremely hard game but after you beat normal you get a hard option.

If i had to do it again I wouldn't change anything . Defiantly buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars its cool
hey if your like me and is not good at many games then this is a game four u there are a few bad things in this game like the saving u have to beat the chapter but then again if u havent seen the movie (like me)then the split screens when charter talk is great so if your looking for fun thats not a brain buster then i sugest this gameim adding to this review its still joe but ive just beat it and if i could give it 1000000000000 stars i would its great buy buy buy it its one of the best ive ever played hey disregard all the bad reviews and listen to mine its great heck im even gonna say buy the movie and i havent even saw it man i love this game!!!!!!!!!!! buy it :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid
Don't buy this game. This is really a bad game. During the role playing part you can't save in the levels, you have to wait until you complete the chapter, and that can take well over an hour. Because its so easy to get lost. Plus during the combat the enemy characters move in slow motion. The game counts your hit, and I had a hit count of over 100, and I went over 50 plenty of times. Who ever came up with enemy characters of this game needs to be fired. You really start to dislike your character also. This game doesn't do the movie any justice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Product for 3D Animation Software!
I use a 3D Animation software and all the important commands fit in the 60 command slots of this device. It is too bad MS is not selling it anymore. If you are a programmer or use a lot of commands, this product is for you.

And if you're thinking about using the Nostromo Device, forget it... I tried it and gave it back. It is not half as ergonomic or usefull as the Sidewinder Strategic Commander...

5-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft has discontinued this product. :(
I have been using the Commander for about 2 years to play Natural Born Fraggers XSIV Customs (12.146.78.17), and I have been telling anyone who will listen to get one.One of my on-line friends just informed me that Microsoft has discontinued manufacturing this product.

A quick Google search confirms that what he said is true.

This is a sad day for me!This is the best designed human-machine interface I have ever used, including the keyboard or any type of mouse!

Some of my sadness results I suppose from the slow realization that the market for improved computer interfaces is so small that innovators may not be able attract investment because of the lack of demand.

This technophile will never stop searching for newer and better interface designs, and I will always be loyal to any company no matter what size that provides what I want.Conversely my good will is hurt when the same company discontinues providing what I need.Welcome to the market I guess. But is life really just about the bottom line?I guess I haven't been doing a good job of marketing via P2P.Me Sad.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Enhancement for NovaLogic's Black Hawk Down!
When I learned of this device from a friend, I had two questions: "Does it work with NovaLogic's "Black Hawk Down" game and "How much does it cost?" TO answer the first question, I contacted NovaLogic and asked them if this device would work with BHD - however, they informed me that BHD was not designed for 'game controllers'. Since this device is NOT a 'game controller (joystick, gamepad, etc) I concluded it would work fine (additionally, my friend also uses his for BHD as well). So I purchased it. As to the cost? Well, that is variable depending on where you get it.

It took me a couple of minutes to install the Commander on my XP system (USB), and I was programming the buttons shortly thereafter. Note: This does *not* replace your mouse or keyboard. It is a great addition to allow you to move your character around, perform things like crouch, jump, reload, lean, roll, hop, go prone, select weapon, emote, etc all from just 6 keys. It comes pre-programmed to allow you to move it forward and sideways to replace the keyboard directional keys (it does not "roll" on the desktop, rather, the top unit 'slides' (Forward, Backwards, Left, Right) on top of the stationary base. It also has a 'twist' function, if you desire that can be programmed as well.

Since it's designed for LEFT hand use, I found it took a short time to get used to it while mousing with my right hand (I keep the mouse for the LOOK functions and scope functions). It feels solid on my desktop and is easy to use. It does not slide around due to the rubber feet.

You can 'record' and program keyboard shortcuts on the fly (with the RECORD button), oryou can use the interface program to program your buttons. Each button has a function along with three "shift" functions (the shift button is beneath your thumb). All told, it will handle up to 72 keyboard (macro) commands (arrows, scroll lock, etc) so you do not have to take your hand off the controller to do in-game functions. NOTE: This is not a "CHEAT" - it just allows you to move your hand faster and not lose your concentration. (You can also program multiple keyboard combinations as well as a one-button 'macro')

All in all, it's worth the money. You can switch from 3 profiles on the fly - and you can save and load mappings as well. For instance, you can have one profile as a gunner, one for a medic, one for a sniper, etc.

As it works well with BHD, I'd expect the same to be true for "Battlefield: 1942" and other 3D combat games. It comes with profiles for about 30 other games (2D strategy games like Ages of Empires, etc).

Retail price for this is about $60 (and I could never find one locally) but you can find it online for much less (probably less than half of the MSR price - I got mine for about $21 + shipping).I've been using mine for several days and I'm very happy with it. It definitely enhances the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Versatility
I have found this particular device to be the most useful pc-gaming controller on the market.I've messed with a few gamepads and joysticks before, but none of them have the customizable features available on the sidewinder strategic commander.

It makes for a great companion to a mouse in just about any game.In an FPS, it allows for decent movement (and frees up your left hand's fingers for other functions than asdw). In an RTS, you can keep all of the quick-need commands within the reach of a few fingers, instead of all over the keyboard.

It's so versatile that one could even program it for menial tasks... like setting up a macro system for Microsoft Word (especially helpful when printing non-keyboard characters, like German umlauts or Spanish accented vowels).
It's easy to use, and it works well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect for my needs
Great software interface for mapping keys.Enough buttons and combinations to satisfy almost any gamer.Lots of fun when I got used to the system.

2 problems:
1) The base slid all over my desktop.I ended up velcro-ing the darn thing to a spare mouse pad.
2) Buttons are too fragile.Broke 2 of these devices already. And I'm a small guy with little hands! ... Read more
