5-0 out of 5 stars Great Training Tool
I recently bought the flight sim yoke and rudder pedals from CH Products. I was a bit hesitant because you really never know what you are gonna get online. However, the customer reviews tipped the scale and I decided to buy. The ship time was excellent and I received the items in a timely fashion. I use the yoke and pedals with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and I LOVE IT! It was very frustrating flying with the keyboard buttons and not realistic flying with a fighter type joystick. The yoke and pedals simulate the flying conditions well and make the simulator very addicting. I am using this simulator to supplement my real flight training. Although not exact, it really helps reinforce previous lessons and allows me to fine tune my skills for free. I have noticed, as well as my instructor, my quick learning curve. GREAT PRODUCT!!! I Highly Recommend It!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great but...
I really like this product. As a licensed pilot, this item gives a more realistic civilian PC flying experience then any joystick can. And for the price, it can't be beat. Sure, there are other yokes costing A LOT more, but unless you want to build a PC simulator you can log real time in, why bother?

My reason for 4 instead of 5 stars? The clamps are awful. They are designed only to fit really thick, flat desks. If your computer desk has a curved front, it's really difficult to get this to stay put.

The feel of the yoke is a little too plasticky. I would like to see slightly smaller yoke with a closer material feel to a real yoke.

This item is a MUST have for anyone who takes their civilian flight simulators ( Micrsoft flight sim, X-plane,Fly!) seriously. It's so much more enjoyable and realistic then using a joystick. Unless you have Airbus simulator add-ons!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Yoke Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was amazed how well this product worked! It's definaly is a part of the aviation family. So are all the other ch products. I love the throtle control. Before I bought this, I used a keyboard and believe me there's a really big differance!
The nice thing about this yoke, is that there really isn't confusion in remembering the buttons, and switches. The hardest thing to remember is which switch is the flaps and wich switch is the landing gear. The trick to remembering is that the landing gear is on the left because landing starts with L and so does left.
I hope you'll buy this yoke and some of the other ch products!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for the money
Good yoke for the price

I got this yoke a month ago and I love it.

It is the only simulator yoke that will simulate the realism of a an aircraft's yoke for this price. The functions of the three levers for mixture, throttle and prop. pitch are great to have and the two switches on the main body for the flaps and landing gear (if you configure them like that) are also really nice.

The negative points on this yoke are:
First, the really really really sensitive and hard to move trim wheel,
Second, the non smooth and full of friction yoke,
Third, the inability of the yoke to return to a single neutral position. It just stops wherever it wants.

Having said that, in order to get anything else with the features of this yoke would have cost you much much more.

I am currently flying a piper Cherokee and its counterpart piper warrior in the FS2004 simulator (in which the yoke intergrades seamlessly) and I find the whole thing really helpful.

Its not perfect but its really good for the money.
I have to say though that only a little extra effort from this company would have made this yoke much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Yoke
This Yoke is gr8. The clamps are very good, and the realism acquired in flight simulator with this thing is incredible. The price is very low, BUY IT ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT
Really great pedals!!!Make sure you get CH;s yoke.A MUST!The only thing is that the rudder pedals are really sensitive and do not require much moving in FS2004 in the air.Overall: Best of the Best!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are a serious flight-sim fan, you must have these!
I use this product with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and have no problem with it. As a licensed pilot, these are possibly the best add-on I have ever bought to make my PC feel more like the real thing.

I don't know about using them for driving sims as a brake and accelerator ( I have a Logitech Wingman FF wheel that I use for that) But for flying sims, these are great.

A must have for any die-hard flight sim fan!

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent but doesn't work in space sims at all
Thier are so many versions of the same CH device that it's hard to review the right one.Thier are actually two versions of these rudder peddals. No rudder peddal on a separate USB port will support space sims. This is for airplanes only.It is a shame it could not be for both as quite a lot of people like both airplanes and space sims. The best way to use this is in MS Flight Sim 04's jet airliners. No other game supports the left AND right toe brake configuration.

5-0 out of 5 stars Realism
If you want realism, you can't get enough from just a joystick. These pedals are not just ordinary pedals. You will be amazed when you use these for flight simulator. They help me make those long banks, and now I can even taxi successfully onto the runway. The brake feature only makes these pedals better. When I first plugged the pedals into my computer, they were installed right away! If you like flight simulator, don't leave an experience like this behind you.

5-0 out of 5 stars CH's Rudder Peddels Work Great!!!
If you like to fly than CH can provide great products for Flight Sim pc games. I was amazed that you could buy these $51.00 cheaper then at any store! CH provides for you great working rudder peddels. You have amazing taxing control on ground and good control in the air. I ordered my Peddles with Free Shipping and as promised, they came 5 days.
The first time I tried them, as said before worked great! I released the barking brakes and moved the throttle forward. I was really bad with the peddles at first but I got the hang of it. They're really easy to slide back and forth and the toe brakes are easy to push.
Now flying is easier and funner!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A GT4 Requirement....
Just my opinion...if you've been playing GT4 without it, you're going to have re-learn driving it. Steering feel is good, but I do have a few minor complaints. The brake and gas pedals do not have enough resistance -- it feels fake. Also, the shifter and the paddle shifters does not have enough "mechanical-resistance-precision". They are easy to double-click. The paddle shifters are located on the steering wheel, not steering column. You can be fumbling for the shifters during and/or after a turn. Finally, I wish there was a way to adjust the angle of the pedals. They seem way too upright for me making difficult to control gas and brake input (I place towel under mine).

So, in summary, it's not perfect, but there's nothing out there that comes close to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice solid wheel

I'm a wheel newbie, but I liked the looks of this wheel when I saw it in a local retail store. It's very well made and solid, and includes gas/brake pedals and a +/- gearshift as well. The diameter of the wheel is a bit small, but it doesn't really detract from the experience.Besides, I've noticed Indycar wheels are small.

The wheel is a little hard to turn, feels like manual steering. But you get used to it quickly.I'd rather have some resistance instead of just a freely-spinning wheel anyway. The force feedback effects are great. In Grand Turismo 3 when your car is going close to it's limit, you can feel the car lose adhesion to the road and pull left and right irregularly. If you pop over a hill and go airbourne for a second you can realistically feel the wheel lose turning resistance.

Burnout 3 and Grand Turismo 3 are a BLAST with this wheel.

Here are my tips:

1.You must have a table or similar surface to mount it to.Something flat and around 2 or 3 inches thick and sturdy, I would guess. You cannot hold it in your lap.I've got mine mounted to a wooden chair turned sideways for now, not an ideal setup but still fun nonetheless.
2.Plug it in the top USB port on your PS2, otherwise some games will only want to use it for player 2.I don't think the picture "manual" tells you that.
3.This wheel also works on a Windows PC.Download drivers at'm not clear whether force feedback can/will work on a PC but I tried it in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 with good results.I've heard you can get the 900 degree mode working in a PC but haven't got that far yet.
4.You'll need to plug in the wheel to a standard electric outlet, so plan for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice
I bought this wheel a couple of months ago.I have to say that I really like it.I don't believe that it made me any better at gran turismo, but it makes a lot of the races more fun.I mostly enjoy using it when I'm confident that I'll win a race. It's also fun when I feel like I want to be "really into" the race.

The force feedback is great. The feel of the wheel is great. The pedals are a little close together and I wish the pedal base was a bit heavier, but no biggie.I tend to hold the base still with my left foot, while using it with my right.I love the fact that the controls are also on the wheel so I don't have to pick up my control pad for certain things.Overall, this has to be the best wheel on the market and great fun for the hardcore gamer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice wheel with unique multiturn feature
Being a gadget lover, I decided to upgrade my Logitech Formula Force GP wheel to the well-reviewed Driving Force Pro. The bottom line is that the DFP is indeed a big step up, with 900 degree steering support, additional side shifter and better feedback effects. It also feels more rugged, though it is still all plastic.

This wheel is marketed as a Playstation2 accessory, but it does work under Windows, and that is half the reason I bought it. Just install the Logitech drivers and plug it in, no special tricks required. Currently I don't know of any Windows games which support 900 degree steering, but hopefully we'll see some eventually. For now, the DFP is working great for Richard Burns Rally in 200 degree mode. It still provides better feel (and more buttons) than the good old FFGP. It's also great with Gran Turismo 4 and Need for Speed 2: Underground on the PS2, which both support 900 degree steering.

Unfortunately, the DFP still suffers from a mediocre clamping system--not that this is the only wheel to be so afflicted. The clamps don't open quite as wide as I would like either, which made it hard to attach to my desk. As others have recommended, I suggest a using a TV tray.

If you are in the market for your first wheel, this is a very good choice, especially if you want something that works for Windows and the PS2. If you already have a wheel you like, this would only be worth the upgrade if you are a real driving nut.

By the way, this would have been a 5-star review if the DFP had a clutch pedal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good.
I had borrowed a Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP from a friend to see if I like it. One week later I was looking for the best. I now have the Logitech Driving Force Pro. It is very nice. It feels better in your hand and all the controls that are on the controllers are there. The gear knob is place close to the wheel so that your hand can easily change the gear with out leaving the wheel. If you don't like that, you have the paddles under the wheel. The foot peddles are nice and the pad grips to the rug very good.

The only thing that I thing should have been done is to place a colour band around the top of the steering wheel. This allows you to check that your wheel is centre when wrapping with the 900 degrees turning during a rally. I sometimes get lost and have to look down to see which way it is pointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nicely Done package/ great value
After reading the Dec. '04 review in Computer Pilot I ordered it. Fine tuning is a bit involved but repetition makes the curve easier. Configuring from one a/c type throttle to another is easy with the downloadable manager from CH prod. Compared to the GoFlight modular system this is great value. Unless $$ is no object and you're not interested in building a home cockpit, the CH line of av-sim controls is well suited to the aspiring and advaced flt. simmer.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK!
Great product! Takes a little playing with the Sensitivity and Assignments settings in MS Flight Simulator 2004 in order to fine-tune it, but no problem. I am no gaming nut or PC guru just private pilot, who will most likely never fly a craft with a 4-engine throttle quadrant! Also, the technical support is very responsive to a technical question.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flight sim nut? Real-pilot too?BUY IT!
I bought these in preparation for my multi-engine pilots license. Of course, I have been flying planes on Microsoft ( and Sublogic) well before I could get into a real cockpit. This is probably one of the best items from CH Products, especially if you like flying multi-engine aircraft or will be upgrading to flying a REAL multi-engine aircraft soon.

Microsoft and CH products have helped keep me sharper in the cockpit by allowing me to practice on the days when I can't go up for real. This product cannot be beat for customizability. I can go from a Beech Baron set-up to a Boeing 747 set-up just by playing with some settings. And if you have the CH Yoke and Rudder pedals, you have a relatively real flying experience without leaving your home.

If you are into military sims, this probably isn't for you. If you have Microsoft flight sim, X-plane, Fly or any other civilian sim and you value realism, you must get these.

$150 isn't cheap, but thats the cost of one hour of flight time in the Multi-engine plane I will be learning in. One hour of flight time versus hours of honing my skills at home? A worthy investment indeed!

The only downside, as there is on all CH products, are the clamps to hold it to the desk. They are really designed to fit desks that are thick and flat. If your PC desk has a curve to the front or is relatively thin, you have to find a better way to secure them to your desk. Wedging books or papers usually helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for 747 freaks.
This is the control console in most major jet airliners. It provides throttle(of course) as well as air/fuel and individual engine control. Can be useful in Piston and Turbo Props too.But is mainly used in Flight Sim 04 and the passenger jets. After watching that turbine spin up on that pilot episode of Lost how could you not want one. Turn that darn thing off already! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good solid Yoke, the game doesn't support yokes
You can get one of three versions of this flight yoke. This one is the best of them.It has three levers for Throttle, Prop angle and fuel.It also has the ignition switch(I guess) and enough buttons/switches to make any unliscensed airliner pilot happy. The only thing is the game that comes with it is NOT an airliner sim, it's a fighter sim and you need a flight stick(or any standard Joystick) to play it good. The flight yoke is programable but comes with no instructions and no software.I still am going to have to look up some airplain info as to how to program it right(or I'm just an idiot and don't have ESP like everyone else).Rudders are a must because hey, it's a flight yoke and you may as well go all the way.I was feeling silly so I put a silly review for the Throttle Quadrant I will probably have to find info on it too as with all CH no instructions/maps.Other than that, a Big Five Alive! This thing is rock solid. The plastic is(or seems) the kind used to make polycart trash dumpsters, meaning if you drop it it is as if you didn't.The controls are responsive. The wheel is a bit off center but maybe that's the way the game programs it.I still don't know how to properly set the travel of the rudders axis in the game included with this yoke as it is meant for a flight stick. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Logitech's X-Box NASCAR wheel
I bought this wheel hoping I could have way better control over the thumb pad. Though the concept seems nice and Logical to have a steering wheel for smoother more realistic action for games such as Forza Motorsport,NASCAR 2005...cup,and IndyCar Series 2005...etc I found that I only still had the same problems with steering and control. Not to mention that the forced feedback that this thing is supposed to have is really the weakest that there could be. So after playing with it a couple of hours and giving it an honest try I decided to plug my X-box Pad that came with it back in see what this would be like because the wheel's action sort of depressed me for $60.00 by the time I left the store and made it home to see what it would do for me.
So I horsed around with this Pad that used to be a problem for me and much to my surprise I was amazed at the control I had with a thumb if I could just slow down and think and relax and slooooooooow down. Don't over steer! Just real easy movements and back off on the gas and then apply just a tad of break all right on my finger tips instead of all this stuff all over the floor and this bulky thing in my lap. And the forced feedback was happening even if I was hitting the gas for a burn out or just barely touching the wall on the back streach or even sliding off on the lawn! I can enjoy the feedback much more over the Logitech Wheel! Now I was having fun! With a Pad!! And this is what it's all about right? I didn't even know that there was feedback in the wheel till looking at it closer! I sure didn't feel it! And this isn't just about the feedback. The control was starting to come and all I had to do is look and concentrate and it was in the touch of my left thumb.
And I still had all the same steering problems with the bloody Wheel that I did with the Pad so what was this thing doing besides looking like a steering wheel?!!NOT MUCH. Except for the clutter in my space.
I like the pad better! Way better! Oh well what can we expect for $60.00? Until Microsoft or somebody [Logitech] comes out with a real decent wheel that will make everyone drop their pad or current wheel for and really enjoy it for more than looks they better put it in their own hands and honestly tell themselves that it is what is stated.
Recall that puppy!!
I want something real good! That thing didn't even feel like I was with my car timing wise and the control was a drag!
I don't recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best wheel I could find
I tried the big three xbox wheels out there right now- Mad catz, Pelican, and this one and I really like this one the best.It has the best control, the most well made feel, and works the best with a variety of driving games from outrun2, to burnout 3 to rallisport 2.I took the others back and i am keeping this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Wheel
Works great, makes racing games soooooo much easier. The built in leg rest is also very comforatble.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK, but not great
It makes "creaking" noises when you turn the wheel. The pedals work well. It's very light-weight and lacks substance. The leg-rest adapter is nice. The lack of a rubber coating on the rim is sorely missed.

Not awful, but not good, either.

4-0 out of 5 stars First Impressions of The Logitech Nascar Wheel for XBox
I've been looking for a wheel for the XBox for a while.I have a Madcatz MC2 for the Dreamcast, and was expecting similar performance from the XBox version, so I passed on it.The MC2 is not a bad wheel, but the feel is quite toyish, and the response is tenuous.Thankfully, the new Logitech NASCAR is a more solid wheel, and has better feel, accuracy and control than the MC2.

I've tried this wheel with Project Gotham Racing 2 and Rallisport Challenge 2. Here are my first impressions:

1. Typical Logitech build quality: Everything fits together well.
2. Control is precise and accurate.
3. Nice to have the slot for the XBox Live communicator.
4. Adjustable sensitivity is easy to use and works well.
5. Pedals have good throw and spring weight.

1. Lap wings are too small for an adult.
2. Suckers do not make up for the lack of a clamp.
3. Wheel is textured, but plastic and not rubberized.
4. Vibration is barely perceptible, even in Rallisport 2!
5. Pedals are small and close together.

I'd recommend it for forty dollars or less. But I'd also advise to hold off for those that are considering the upcoming Fanatec Speedster wheel. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get it!
I ordered the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP w/ foot pedals on a late Sunday afternoon, using the super saver free shipping. I believe Amazon reports that the free shipping takes 7 - 9 days to be delivered? Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, almost exactly 48 hours later, the wheel was at my house! It arrived in a brand new, excellent, unscathed condition.

I took the wheel out and mounted it to the lip of my computer desk using the two screw down plastic clamps provided underneath the wheel. I thought the clamps looked flimsy, and would probably break easily! However, I have been playing for days now and the wheel is completely stable and does not move nor suffer from "plastic flex"! Just make sure you do _not_ overtighten them when you screw them down! Just get them secure, they WILL hold if you do it properly. I find the wheel to be the perfect size for my desk, I can keep it attached and use my keyboard and mouse without any problems at all.

Next, I positioned the foot pedals on the floor. My desk has a bottom board, and I put the foot pedals up against it so they won't slide. They have a jack similar to a telephone, and it plugs directly into the righthand side of the wheel. The A/C adapter plugs in next to the phone-jack type port for the pedals, and is very lightweight!

Then, I started up my computer and installed the software. You put the disk in, and it comes up with a menu that lets you install it. If you already have another Logitech device, such as a Wingman joystick, then you don't need to install the software! It uses the same stuff! Once the software is installed, you simply plug the USB connector into your computer, and POOF! The system will immediately make any changes it has to, and you can start using your wheel! I would strongly suggest a calibration before use.

The wheel and pedals are very durable, and work flawlessly. The paddle shifters are easy to reach and use! I find the best game to use this wheel with is Need for Speed: Underground. They make a great combo.

It takes a slight breaking in period to get used to using a wheel. While it makes the game very realistic, remember that it is still up to the game programmers to provide good game physics for using it! I've also played with a Microsoft Force Feedback wheel at a friend's house, and I like this Logitech a lot better!

1-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Wheel is better
This wheel is perfectly centered, until you plug in the usb. Then it goes off center by almost 45 degrees. It has a grinding feel like it needs to be oiled. It also sqeaks when turning. Driving with the wheel off center makes it harder to reach the buutons. Go Microsoft.

3-0 out of 5 stars Little too jerky
Overall a good buy for the money. Wheel is very jerky and too sensitive in Nascar racing and Indy Car racing. Turning on Steering assist in Nascar racing smooths things out but some online leagues don't allow this. Pedals are OK. Spaced very well. Brake pedal feels very sensitive.

2-0 out of 5 stars Clearly the worst wheel I've ever bought.
There are many bad things about this wheel. For 1, whenever you turn it, it turns way to far to the side, and the car you are driving goes off the track. Another thing is, the pedals don't work very well. When you push even a millimeter dow on the gas pedal, the car speeds way up. Also, the brake/reverse pedal doesn't work at all. You have to reset the car if you want to reverse. On some games, the gas apedal and thebrake/reverse pedal don't work at all. When this happens, the car just speeds ahead, and there is no way to slow it down. Never the less, the wheel doesn't break easily, and it has rumbel built in. If you want a good wheel, then I advise you to by one without pedals.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Starter Wheel
I've been using this wheel for a little over a year now, and it provides excellent connectivity and responsiveness. The forcefeedback, while not as strong or convincing as the newer MOMO wheel, offers good "feel for the dollar" value. In games such as Colin McRae 2.0, Rallisport Challenge, and F1, the feel of the wheel is quite good, and having been on the market for at least a couple years now, all the bugs are worked out of the drivers and support from Logitech. It won't increase your upper body strength like the MOMO, but still an excellent wheel for racing. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A great wheel: for the price.
This is a great wheel, it has a good feel and doesn't feel cheap at all. I have tried it woth GT3 and NFS:HP2 and it works great. It doesn't work so well with GTA:SA. The wheel has vibration function, and shifters and gas brake pedals on the wheel as well as ones that go on the floor. The pedals aren't analog, the're either on or off however, and they tend to slide a little on carpet. It's no logitech, however overall for the price you really can't go wrong. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money...
PRO: its cheap, seen it new for under 20 bux
CON: its cheap, wheel is all plastic and very sloppy feel

PRO: good clamping system
CON: no stick shifter, paddle shifters only

All in all for the money this is an ok wheel. I set the linearity less then 50 @ most tracks, alot of oversteer otherwise. The paddle shifetrs are a pain, would much rather have the stick.

3-0 out of 5 stars good for kids, adults might want to stick with the keyboard
If you are accustomed to using the keyboard and want the fine control afforded by that, I would not recommend this steering wheel. However, I do recommend it, if you are looking to buy this for a child to play driving games.

This may be a problem with all "analog" steering wheels. I find that the "digital" keyboard gives me better control. But kids, who have not mastered the keyboard, will find this steering wheel perfectly adequate.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect add-on to a driving/racing game
Ok, everybody, this is not the force feed back wheel. They're more expensive. This is your down to earth 10" racing wheel with gas/brake pedals that out does any keyboard control I have ever tried to use. It's a great computer steering wheel that works as it should. It's accurate, simple to set up, and FUN to use. The price is perfect, too. I gave it 5 stars because it has worked flawlessly for well over a year for me and is still working perfectally. I truely don't believe you could find a better wheel for the price. (Gosh, it's made by Logitech! What more could you want?) I never installed the software, I just plugged it in and started driving with no problems. I am also using Windows Home and Professional on two seperate PC's. If you're looking for a wheel and on a budget, bingo, you found one here. Buy it, you won't go wrong.

4-0 out of 5 stars It take a little getting used to.....
Okay, so the pedals don't feel like real automobile pedals. It's a gaming device, people! I'm looking for realism plus fun, and that's what I got. True, it does take a considerable amount of practice to get used to it. Especially if, like me, you've spent years mashing keyboard buttons to play driving games. I'ts a LOT harder using the wheel and pedals, but a heck of a lot more fun! To answer Pedro Couto e Santo's question in his earlier review: 'So... what's the point to buying a steering wheel and pedals if you can actually play driving games better on your keyboard?'. The answer is you can't play driving games with the wheel and pedals the same way you play with the keyboard. You have to re-learn everything. Have fun with your re-education!

1-0 out of 5 stars I must be doing something wrong
I can't help but rate this item very low. I've been going through the other reviews and I don't understand how people are having so much fun with this.

I've tested this mainly on Colin McRae Rally 2, and CMR 3. The games are really great driving games, and CMR3 even detected the Wingman Formula GP before I installed the logitech software. But driving in these games using this wheel is a series of zig-zags through the rally tracks!

It's terribly annoying, you spend more time trying desperatly to aim the car at the road, steering left and right furiously, than actually concentrating on the race, the curves and your timing.

I've played some tracks dozens of times and up to now, using the wheel, I simply cannot beat the time I did with the keyboard on my first try!

So... what's the point to buying a steering wheel and pedals if you can actually play driving games better on your keyboard? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Logitech speed Force Wheel
I purchased 2 for my son and husband. Both rumble and work perfectly with the racing games such as Need for Speed Underground 2, Nascar 2003 and 2004. Some of the early games cannot be used, but they still love it. The wheels actually feel like you are in a race car with realistic resistance. I recommend this item.

1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy 2 of these!!
I bought 2 for 2 to race, but only one 'rumbles". I have called Logitech tech support and they said, "oh,well, that's the way it was designed". Nowhere on the box or the instructions does it say that and it is very illogical. I will not buy Logitech gaming products again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best wheel I ever owned!!
This wheel is an unbelievable product and value, not just for the price but at any price. Thats the bottom line.

If you have Nascar Thunder '03 or any other racing game for the cube, you must get this wheel! I was skeptical at first because every console wheel I have ever owned was useless. This wheel does not just rumble it actually has force feedback, meaning the wheel pulls back to center and against you just as if you were in a real car. In Nascar Thinder '03, if you set the car up loose the wheel will be loose. If you change the wedge to tighten up the car during a pit stop, the wheel will tighten up as well. If you are in career mode and your chasis is in bad condition, the wheel center position will shift and will make it harder to steer properly.

It has all of the buttons on the wheel that the standard controller has minus the C-stick and analog stick (you dont need them). While the pedals are not necessary, I reccomend them because they provide a better overall experience. The wheel improved my performance on the track vs. a controller by 3 or 4 seconds on each lap.

The wheel is well constructed and surpassed all my expectations. Same for the pedals. Logitech has a great quality product that is OFFICIALLY licensed by Nintendo (the only wheel to be so) and works great. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good deal despite a few problems.
I recently bought this wheel at a local Game Crazy in anticipation of the upcoming release of Gran Turismo 4 and so far despite a few problems i've been satisfied with my purchase.

The Good

1. Great compatibility with PS2 racing titles - it works with basically all PS1 and PS2 racing games - not just Nascar games (I've been using it primarily with Gran Turismo 3)
2. Easy control customization.
3. Feels good in your hands
4. Well made

The Bad

1. I wish the adjustable lap rest could lock into place (sometimes it slips back in when your taking a tough corner)
2. While the pedals are well made do not use them on a carpeted surface - they slip. (Customize the wheel like i did, setting the gas and brake to L1 and R1 and dont even bother with the pedels unless you have a better surface for them)
3. The wheel allows customization of it's sensitivity but i wish it could get a little more sensitive then it can (more life like)

Overall it's a good solid purchase if you can't afford to drop a 150 bucks on something top of the line. It's definately alot better then using a controller on a racing game. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars subpar
let me just say first off that i have not used any of the competing wheels, so i'm not speaking comparatively here.

i have owned this wheel for a long time now and it has seen a ton of use.i use it for F1 Challenge, and i've probably logged something like 100 hours of use on it.if you're serious about your steering wheel, and you probably are if you're spending $100 on it, then don't get this has stopped supporting it with software/drivers, and the way it is now, it can not be set up to have a separate gas and brake.this means no trail braking, which means you can't drive seriously.i'm not really into left foot braking, so i still have it. my other big complaint with it is the pedals.currently i have them pushed up against a 2x2 i screwed into the floor, and on top of that i have them taped too the floor so they dont move.this is still insufficient.they weigh all of like one pound, and theres nothing stopping them from sliding on carpet.also, the clamp that holds it on the desk is too sometimes slides around and in the heat of a race it can be extrememly aggavating.also, the gear-shift buttons sqeak at times, and double shift.the wheel cant be taken apart, so after weeks of struggling with it, i just sprayed a ton of WD40 in there and luckily it fixed the one last complaint is a large dead sucks, but maybe all the other wheels are the same.dont know.things i like: the feel, the feedback, the grip, the look.

verdict: buy something else

4-0 out of 5 stars A good result for the truly dedicated
The value you get from this product will depend upon your dedication to race gaming.

I bought it for my sons who would be using the machine for an hour or two a day. Whilst initial enthusiasm was expressed by all the reality is that the computer is still used as much as it was, but this wheel has not been out of the closet since April. Here are the facts (at least according to us):

a) The base of this unit is huge, so when attached to a fairly standard computer desk with sliding keyboard drawer there is no room for the keyboard too.
b) The unit has three different wires which come from the back of the unit, so these either have to be threaded over the back of the desk each time, or wrap around the front getting caught up in the kids legs.
c) On many of the games we tried the force of the force feedback was much stronger than in typical arcade games, too strong for my 7 year old to handle. (Some games allow this to be altered, but not all)
d) Most games require the wheel to be re-callibrated for each use, perfect for perfectionists but again it means significant 'daddy intervention' when the kids want to switch games.
e) The power transformer is directly welded into the plug prongs, so this beast takes up three slots in a normal power block, thus requiring its own power block.

Now, on the up-side. When I use the properly installed wheel you can callibrate things so that it does handle like a real car. So if you can set things up properly, and leave them set up, then I suspect this is a very good piece of kit.

But for the casual user, too bulky, too messy and too much like hard work to be used frequently.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good wheel
It's a good wheel.
But it has a lot of Dead Zone in it.
Nascar 2003 Season is the worst dead zone.
You can tweak it out so it dosent have as much.
But for Dirt Track Racing, Rally sport challenge and other off road or on road games it is a great wheel but it dose crunch some times. sounds like somthing in it. ever since I bought it it has done that but works.
The look is awesome better then the picture.
but I cant complain I bought it from theese guys for 60.00 on sale.
and Any where else it would be 110.00 $

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with the "driving force pro" wheel
Amazon referred me to this lap accessory pack for the Driving Force Pro for PlayStation 2 wheel. The Driving Force Pro wheel already comes with pedals though, and the lap accessory doesn't fit the wheel, so it's useless! If you get one of the older wheels, I am sure it's great though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Necessary if you have the wheel
This is the add on for the Logitech wheel and includes the pedals(2) and a lap attachment that really helps anchor the wheel.I don't have a table/chair that I can clamp the wheel to so this was nice.Though in the excitement of great games we started using a bungee cord to attach it firmly around our legs. The pedals have a nice realistic feel and respond great in the games.Gamecube games that are a blast to play with the wheel are Need for Speed II, Dakar, and Burnout 2.I've also heard that the Nascar is great.Really makes the games more realistic than ever.A little creativity and someone could build a nice comfortable cockpit with the wheel and these pedals. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This lap attachment needs a serious redesign...
The lap attachment would have been incredibly useful if the base (the part that you squeeze between your legs) would have been longer. It seems like it would be better suited for a child. If you are over 6' tall and weigh over 200 lbs., you probably would be better off trying to clamp your Driving Force wheel to a table.

I sincerely hope that Logitech redesigns the next lap attachment with full-grown adults in mind.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing for Any Serious Manuvering
On paper, the Logitech lap attachment for their top-notch line of force feedback wheels sounds like a must-have accessory. It also sounds a little too good to be true and unfortunately, this turns out to be the case.

As others have mentioned, its fatal flaw is the design itself. It is simply too small and innately imbalanced to keep the wheel stable through any quick and/or "big" (i.e. hairpins) steering. Not only does it impede your use of the wheel, but also of the pedals - you'll quickly grow tired of clinching your knees together while trying to manage the heavy-duty stop/start pedaling associated with any city street or off-road rally racing.Imagine squeezing a Thighmaster together as hard as you can while playing - oooh, fun.At least you'll have really toned gleuts after a lot of gameplay.

The lap attachment is also made of hard, slick plastic. You can't tell that from the photos and I'd hoped that it would be something rubbery with some grip, but no.So, you've also got to carefully choose your attire while playing.By now, you should be getting the point that this thing is simply more trouble than it's worth.

The only reason I give it two stars is that it can perform adequately (just barely) when racing ovals that don't depend on jamming the pedals and working the wheel. So, NASCAR fans may find some value here, but let's face it - Gran Turismo 4 is THE reason to buy the wheel in the first place, and this gizmo will render it almost unusable for that purpose.

I've seen others convert TV tables or large lap desks into suitable surfaces on which to clamp a Logitech wheel.I'll be looking into that option next since the lap attachment has let me down.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too small and unstable.
This thing is too small for anyone bigger than an eight year old. Also it is a very poor design very unstable.Needs something under your legs to hold it in place.Do not buy this you will return it.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of money.
I purchased this along with the Logitech force steering wheel. This thing is worthless. The portion you fit between your legs isn't long enough to securely hold itself no matter how hard you squeeze your legs together. It totally defeats the purpose of having the wheel to begin with and you completely lose the ability to drive with any sort of accuracy because it flops around so much.I used it for about an hour and threw it across the room.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get a Table
The Logitech Wheels, this lap attachment was built for, are great (especially the pro wheel I own). Unfortunately the same can't be said of this attachment. The attachment is simply too small for any normal sized adult to use, and it's uncomfortable needing to clamp onto the middle pedestal while accelerating and braking. The end result is that your wheel controller is so unstable when you're turning that it feels like it's about to fly off your lap. Logitech should have never released this piece of garbage.

There is a good reason that you don't see this product in many retail stores. Unless you're buying this for a small child, save your money for a small table instead. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for the money but...
Considering it is a fairly cheap wheel I suppose you get what you pay for;

It is sturdy but the pedals dont have a high enough resistance and IMO have too much travel in them.

The paddles are easy to reach but the other buttons are a little awkward and take some searching-for if you are in the heat of a moment.

The steering is EXTREMELY notchy, which for the game I play makes this wheel almost impossible to use with certain high powered rear wheel cars that are extremely sensitive to slight movements.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good choice, but...
This wheel is good: it feels in hands more real than Logitech Wingman Force GP and MS SideWinder FF2. Buttons are comfortable; pedals are unusual, but works good and never slips on the floor.

But it has *big* problem - drivers (at least, for Win2k). After couple weeks of struggling I've returned it and have bought Logitech Momo Racing Wheel. And glad about that, MOMO is much better :)

Bottom line: really good wheel, but not for Win2k

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot contender for performance king
Realism and performance:The latest implementation of Force Feedback supports 16 effects simultaneously (earlier generations:one at a time) for the most accurate feel - and hence best driving performance.
Styling:Saitek are wild!
Pedals:top-hinged - and engineering masterpiece.The payoff:precision and stability
Programming software:drag-n-drop quick and easy

3-0 out of 5 stars OK but could really use improvement
Problems with the Gameshark:

1. When downloading new codes, only about 30 games are listed, but on their web site thousands of codes are listed. Why should I spend a half hour with their awkward code-entering system when I paid to be able to download new codes?

2. Many codes do not work in combination with other codes, but there's no way to know which ones will work with which others until you try them and the game won't load.

3. Their web site is the slowest I've seen in years.

4. As I write this, their forums have been down for days. The message is "Sorry, the forums are presently closed for maintenance. Please check back again later."What kind of maintenance takes days, and why don't they say when the maintenance is supposed to be finished so I don't have to keep checking back on their forums page only to be greeted with this frustrating and uninformative message?

5. The disk seems to be poor quality. It sometimes takes about two minutes to load, and it occasionally makes a humming or sort of buzzing sound like it's not balanced well.

1. When the codes work, they are a real Godsend. For example if you want to play Final Fantasy X without having to spend 40 hours mindlessly fighting random battles and leveling up, you can do it with Gameshark.

2. The forums on their web site, when they are up, are a great place for troubleshooting information.

3. They do have codes for a LOT of games on their web site.

Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase, but I do think the company needs to work on the issues I mentioned above.

1-0 out of 5 stars OLD GAME CODES ARE USELESS!!!
These game codes are from 1999, and ANY or ALL games made AFTER 1999, aren't on this Gameshark!!! DON"T BUY THIS GAMESHARK for the price. The 2002 Gameshark is 5.0 {up to date}. This Gameshark is 3.0 , USELESS!!! { the 3.0 etc. is on the back of the box , on a white sticker}

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome
eveyone else is lying because this thing kicks... and i just love it because it is really [dang] cool. I reccomend this because it helps out a lot.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good And Bad
i think that this gameshark is very helpful. i mostly use it for Driver 2, but thats just because its the most recent game i bought. All of the other reviews on here state that it freezes the game. for the first 3-4 hours for me, it didnt freeze at all. But then it did. and it wouldnt stop, or let me do anything. and when u have to restart, you lose all your unsaved game settings and data, and you have to reload through the gameshark, just so it can freeze again. i think its worth buyingthis though, because you probably cant find a better one. I wouldnt recommend buying it used though. If you decide to buy it, then buy it here, or somewhere that has it for the same price, or even less. I would also recomend that u should check to see if gameshark is coming out with a new version, without these glitches. ... Read more

this is the best of the best its like you are actually in the car!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sidewinder wheel
Wow! I think this wheel is great! IF you play any racing games at all you should run out and buy this product. The force feedback is simply great and the wheel is of high quality material too.

4-0 out of 5 stars No weakness' and very Robust
Its well worth spending more and buying a quality wheel. Of course you canspend hundreds on very expensive wheels, but in this price range the maincontenders are the MSFF wheel, Logitech, and Act Labs wheel. These are allForce Feedback wheels which is a must feature now that games support it ina much more sophisticated way. Just feeling the bumps when you hit the curbor other cars, is not enough. If you're into racing sims, such as GrandPrix Legends, being able to feel subtle forces that let you know when thecar is at the limit of traction, makes for a much more immersive experienceand also makes you a better driver. I've used the MSFF for 18 months now,and it has it over other Force Feedback wheels in the following areas: 1)It has no weaknesses. Both the wheel and the pedals are good. Many wheelsfall down in having poor pedals. Being able to apply delicate accelerationand braking is crucial. The Microsoft pedals have good travel and feel. Incomparison a lot of Logitech owners have sunstituted their pedals for CHPedals - which adds to the cost and hassle. 2)It uses an optical readerrather than potentiometers (Pots). Pots wear out quite quickly, theMicrosoft Wheel has the same precision it did 18 months ago after hundredsof hours of use. Some people tend to be anti Microsoft which I feel haveclouded their opinions when comparing the MSFF with the Logitech Wheel. Idon't think you'll be disappointed with this wheel. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars seems ok
Thought I'd pass along a few things I discovered, maybe saving others a bit of pain.
I never could find the "schemes" they talk about, but I think it doesnt matter, cuz most games have there own setup screens.

Wasted time trying to get Sidewinder listed as first gaming device in control panel(gaming options?)
Dont waste your time. Just unplug your other gaming devices(joystick, gamepad..) and things should be ok. That's the beauty of USB- easily connected, easily disconnected-even when PC is on.
Clamp for clamping to table seems pretty good. Wheel has a bit of play , rocks in and out just a bit. This doesnt affect gameplay, but could this mean I'll have a problem later?

Maybe I'll go to store and see if other brands have same problem.

PEDALS: stiff action, which is what u want, I think. Dont wanna have wimpy pedals where its hard to control accelerator. This is first wheel I've ever used, so I cant compare this wheel to others.
Pedals do need to be secured down, they slide away from you. Look on underside of pedal platform, make sure to tuck the cord safely into one of the grooves they provide on the bottom, else you'll end up with pedal platform eventually wearing its way thru the cord.
Physical setup is a snap. Disappointed that I clicked on links in the provided software to get help at Microsoft site. I think theyve changed the site somewhat, didnt find what I was looking for. You can find some troubleshooting tips at site, tho.
Havent decided whether I'll keep it or return it yet. May well keep it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great racing wheel!
WE bought this for our son for Christmas last year and we haven't been disappointed. It's not difficult to program to any game you want to play and it clamps on the desk in such a way that it doesn't move at all.Though a little pricey, it is definitely worth the money if you're looking for a good racing wheel. We had bought another racing wheel before this one and it was junk.We couldn't get the pedals to work and compared to this one, it was [poorly built].Microsoft makes a great product. We also own the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick and that has held up wonderfully for 4 years now. We've gotten a lot of use out of both of them and I recommend them if you're looking for a wheel or a joystick.

5-0 out of 5 stars wow
absolutely makes gaming more fun. Works great with Need 4 Speed
It also works great with the included games, including Monster Truck Madness 2. Definitely worth the price. I got it when it first came out and I don't regret it.
Eventually I began to use it less, but I think that goes with most new things that people get. Eventually they get used less.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product, great price!
This wheel was really easy to setup.Simple usb connection and you're off to race.Great software to customize the buttons for any particular game.A nice feel and design in this wheel.

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better with a little more development effort
I've gotten two of these, the first one as a gift for my stepfather (who is a huge NASCAR fan) and one for myself courtesy of my wife for Christmas (I'm becoming a NASCAR fan).I couldn't get the software to install on my stepfather's Dell Dimension tower system (Windows Millenium Edition), nor to get the OS to manually recognize the wheel through the Control Panel, but when I loaded "NASCAR Racing 4" by Sierra Sports, the game recognized and calibrated the wheel without any fuss and it worked just fine.

Two days later when I set up my own wheel on my Dell Dimension tower system with Windows ME, the software installed just fine and the wheel was recognized by the OS. I was happily surprised. Then when I installed "NASCAR Racing 4", the game wouldn't recognize the wheel and wanted to keep using the CH Combatstick that was plugged into the gameport on the soundcard.I found that the only way to get the wheel to work was to have the OS not recognize the Combatstick, so that the game would see only the wheel (there were no other controllers attached to my stepfather's PC).Once that was done, the game and wheel worked fine. When I get ready to fly a flight sim, I'll have to reinstall the Combatstick again, which isn't too difficult but is annoying as its just one more step to perform before playing Combat Flight Sim 2, my favorite flight sim.

My Sidewinder wheel came with a free game (Midtown Madness 2), but my stepfather's came with a rebate, so I suspect that I have newer software than he does.Next time I'm at his house I'll bring my disk and reload his wheel to see if that resolves what is now a moot problem.

The Sidewinder wheel's software includes a schematics feature for games that allows you to map functions to certain buttons.I never really used this, as all of my driving games have the same utilities (Need For Speed 3; Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed; NASCAR Racing 4; Midtown Madness 2; Viper Racing; and F1 2000).Maybe some people would use it, but it was just an unused feature to me.

After a week's worth of racing around Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen, Pocono, Sears Point, and Indianapolis in NASCAR Racing 4, and various other tracks in the other games, I noticed that the wheel's shaft is starting to loosen up such that the wheel feels loose on the spindle, which raises concerns about construction quality and the longevity of the product.I suppose that once the plastic housing comes apart I can put my handyman skills to work and build my own wheel using a real automobile wheel, a wooden console, and the Sidewinder electronics, but I would rather not get that serious about sim racing just yet.

A couple of things I dislike with the product is the design of the pedal base. The brake and gas pedals are sprung very tight, which is good, but the base needs to be longer to resist flipping forward when the pedals are pressed. The connection cord to the PC could be a foot longer, so that I can run the cord under and behind my big executive desk rather than in front and on top of it, where it gets tangled up with the mouse cord. The edges of the pedals themselves are sharp and could cut skin if you aren't careful.I plan to take mine into the garage and sand them down with a Dremel hobby tool to soften the edges a bit.

As an alternative, try the Thrustmaster and Logitec product lines. They usually compare very well to offerings from Microsoft and have more features at a better price. When this Sidewinder wheel falls apart, I'll probably go with a different manufacturer.

*** Update: January 28, 2004.I've had the wheel for awhile now and no problems at all!All of the new driving game work fine.I've ditched the old gameport joystick I was using and now am all-USB, which has the benefit in that I can use my CH Pro Pedals with the MS Sidewinder steering wheel. The MS pedals are off to the side, still plugged in, but not being used.EA Sports' F1 series and the NASCAR Racing games by Papyrus recognize the CH pedals/MS steering wheel without any problems at all, including customization of the buttons. The steering shaft isn't any looser than it was after the first few weeks of use, so I guess it just needed a break-in period. One advantage of the all-plastic construction: no rubbery smell on your hands. :) Overall, the wheel works as advertised and I haven't upgraded because it can do everything I need it to do.Not a bad deal for the money. ...
