Good Upgrade
I installed this PSU in a Compaq Presario case and it took a little bit of trimming with a hacksaw and file to get it to fit, but nothing major.The Antec is at least as quiet as the stock PSU (Bestec).Upgrading the PSU is important if you are adding RAM, hard drives, graphic cards etc. to a stock computer.It was obvious from the fit, finish, and weight that the Antec was much higher quality than the Bestec, I feel better knowing it's on the job now.

Great Power Supply.Quite and wonderful
I had another power supply and wasn't happy with it.I upgraded to this new True Power 330.I was recommended to buy it directly from the motherboard manufacture -ASUS.They told me for what I need, that this power supply would be more than sufficient.I received it in great shape and all install directions are included.I am so so happy with this power supply.It is quite and easy to install.They also warranty it for 3 years which is great!!. I trust Antec and they make great products.Way to go Antec!! A+ product.Definitely buy this unit and you will not be disappointed.

very good PS
Antec's Truepower series are truly good Power Supply. Power is solid, and as the box says it is quiet. But if you compare Truepower's noise with a Compaq-Presario's PS noise, you will be amazed at Compaq's real silence. Compaq-Presario's power supply is BESTEC brand, and it is really silent. (Antec Truepower is quiet, but not silent much.)

I want to know where I can buy BESTEC's power supplies.

Solid power supply
My PC (2yrs old) came with a 250W power supply. This was great for everything that came with my computer at the time. However... I have since added a lot of parts to my PC which now has a CD-ROM, CD-RW, 2 7200RPM hard drives, ZIP Drive, 640MB RAM, 5 PCI cards, etc., etc. So I needed a new power supply...

This one is a whole lot quieter than my old one even though it has an additional fan. The power supply has internal cicuitry that varies the fan speed according to how much power is being used. If you have the right connectors, this will also control up to two of your case fans as well as plug into your motherboard so that the fan speed can be read by the BIOS. The wires are plenty long enough to reach anywhere I needed to in my full-size tower case (although stowing away the extra is a bit of a pain). It even comes with an manual (I have personally never seen this before with a power supply) that is actually helpful. Plenty of power, quiet operation, neat features. What else could you ask for? Oh yes, the price on Amazon.com is significantly cheaper than what I saw at local retailers in the area...

need power...well ur gonna get it
i am usin a junked up pc runnin on windows 95. Before evrything possible was going wrong with it so i decided to invest a couple hundred to uprgade(cd-rw's, harddrives,RAM,audio and sound cars and windows xp os). So was a litle more then a couple hundered. very well designed
As a computer geek, home theater enthusiast, video game junkie, and musician with a home recording studio, I have far too many things to plug in and waaaay too few electrical outlets to meet my needs.Enter power strips.I've got several of your standard 5-outlet power strips/surge protectors around the house.There are two of them behind my home theater and the mess back there almost brings me to tears.Like the other fellow who reviewed this product, I too am putting the cheap extension cords to use for those irritating wall warts that take up 2 or more spaces on your conventional power strips.Behind my computers are more conventional power strips and big messes of cords.But for my recording studio, I have cleaned up and simplified things with the Tripp-Lite 10-outlet surge suppressor.I should break down and get about a few more of them because I am thrilled with the design of this thing.10 outlets!And half of them are spaced apart from the others so that the wall warts will fit on there without encroaching upon any of the other outlets.Awesome.I have it mounted to my wall and while there's still a stinking mess of wires back there, at least I can get to them and behold:there are even 2 empty slots.I'm not using the telephone cord surge protection feature, but I don't see that as a reason to penalize with less stars like some other character did in his review.So you don't want to plug your phone into this thing, don't plug in your phone.The layout of this power strip and having a whopping 10 outlets is the bomb.As I type this review I look over at the thing and it makes me happy.I'm ordering a couple more right now.

Awesome!
I have a ridiculous number of things to plug in at my computer desk and my home theater, and both locations have a bunch of big and space wasting AC adapters.I was using those cheap white extension cords that have three outlets on the end for most of the since they took up so much space on the normal power strips.After some research through the power strips and surge suppressors (and even some UPSs), I bought one of these Trip Lites, and I was so happy with how everything fit so well and how I was able to consolidate my plugs and lose a few of the white extensions, I bought three more, and they have totally revamped my wiring into a very compact, organized, and manageable cluster.I plan on buying a couple more in case they stop making them, although I doubt the ones I have will have any problems.

I'm not recommending this for it's surge protection, because that's not the reason I bought it, and frankly, I've never really have a problem with surges, but if you have AC adapters hogging wall space, this is a great (and low cost compared to a few other similar ones) solution.

Unnecessary
Do not pay extra to protect low voltage lines (telephone and cable) from spikes. Buy a basic surge suppressor and save youself some money.

Don't buy it for the damaged equipment replacement warrantee
I don't own this specific APC product, but I do own other APC products.

My home was hit by lightning on July 2, 2004 during a severe lightning storm. Both of my garage door openers were destroyed during the strike and they were on separate NET3 power line surge protectors made by APC.

NET3 surge protectors offer the best ($50,000) damaged equipment warranty that APC offers. APC refuses to pay for replacement garage door openers since in their determination, the surge protectors are functioning properly (I had to send the surge protectors at my expense for analysis at their labs).

I will never contend that a surge protector can protect any device from a direct lightning strike, but the APC warranty contends that they will replace your equipment in the event this unfortunate event occurs.

I now do not recommend APC equipment, since their warranty is worthless.

Great price but died in 28 days
I purchased mine with the highest expectations and it was working great. On the 28th day... the "overload" light began blinking and it would not power up.
The tech support said it was an internal failure "Return for repair". Luckily I was still able to return it to the store where I purchased, without the HUGE shipping fees there would have been to send back to APC. I hope that was a rare occurrence.

I own many APC UPSes, from the relatively high end to the relatively 'normal' levels (i.e., like this one).All, including the BX1000, seem incredibly well built.Before buying a UPS understand why APC has these various offerings, and try to understand which you might need.I wouldn't want my more critical servers ideally on anything below the Smart UPS series (they tend to have a pure sine wave output, along with a much more tightly regulated output).The Backup Pro series is a minor step down from the Smart UPS, in that it sacrifices pure sine wave output.The Backup series (non-pro) still has a very nicely regulated output, but is not quite as tightly controlled as the Pro series (nor of course does it have pure sine wave output).

APC sells serious stuff, at all levels, for very real reasons.

The BX1000 supports hot-swapping of batteries, along with the powerchute software suite, is extremely well made, etc.Look at it from this perspective: Need UPS power on lights, printers, less critical PCs, etc.?This is an awesome choice.It may even be fine for servers, if you want to play the probability game (I'll still stick with the Smart UPS series for those toys myself).

A must for Home Theater or Multimedia centers.
I was really pushing the limits of my mid-range Monster surge protector with 2 TVs, a 2.4Gig P4 with desktop TV, DSL, two printers, and .....drumroll please.....a fridge all crammmed into acorner office setup about 7' wide. The Belkin Gold unit with RF/EMI suppression up to 75db cured all the rattle and hum problems with speakers, satellite signal, the "dirty" line into my modem, and a week later I haven't had to reboot my system once. Amazing!

I had already had a great experience with a Belkin SurgeMaster on my Home Theater setup, so I went one level up with this "Gold" unit. One of the better investments I've made lately. I paid $60 at the local Office Depot, the price Amazon is advertising is ridiculously low at $35. 380 vs 380S bundled with an Antec case
Antec actually bundles the "S" version of these power supplies with their "quiet" cases, such as the Antec Sonata.The difference between the "S" and this version is that the "S" version has only one fan, which is rear mounted.

The power supply was very easy to use, and quite silent in operation.Plenty of cables to hook up an ATX board, four hard disks, floppy, two optical disks and extra power to the Radeon graphics card.All with ample cables with no extensions.

The only complaint I had was that for one or two days, it gave off a fairly strong plastic-burning smell.Luckily, I'd seen that mentioned about these power supplies on mailing lists, or I would've been very worried.

It seems to work now, but had a lot of troble at first
I bought this, not actually because my old P/S went out, becasue it was working fine.I bought it because of the Emerax style fans.It has good wattage, but my old one was 300.I needed the suck-fan because my box was getting hot and it could carry the suck-fan directly above the CPU(where most of the heat is).The case runs slightly cooler now.I had to use a pair of plyers and rip the metal on the metal stand where the P/S sat in order to line up the fan properly(The fan opening on my case was in the wrong position.)If you don't have an Antec case, don't get an Antec P/S.It won't work in some cases.Don't do what I did, metal shards could get sucked into your P/S. I had to file it off with sandpaper.
Now for the main part of the review.I continually got BSoD(Blue Screans of Death) in 98SE after installing the P/S for about two weeks.Even Windows XP Pro froze up frequently(I dual-boot).After that everything seemed to work ok.Computers have to get used to knew hardware, it's like an organ transplant to them.The gripe I have now is that, although I rarely get freezes or BSoD; my computer stalls frequently(esp. Windows XP) when I issue commands.NAV and my word documents stall before the execution of those programs and saving documents sometimes requires a reboot(cold boot).The P/S is 380 watts, but is not designed for certain case/M/B combinatons.The fans move slower too when hooked up to the fan hook ups because the workload is lite in net surfing/NAV manual scan, ect.I am an avid gameplayer as well and games frequently freeze before execution requiring a reboot.(cold) I usually get them working after that.I do not recommend this, unless you have an antec case and maybe a shop that custom builds computers.If you want an Antec, ask M/BX to build it for you.

Excellent PSU
Definetly a high quality PSU.Antec of course is a great name and although the True Power series PSUs aren't cheap, they are well worth the money.I would recommend to anyone looking for a reputable, stable, and quiet power supply.

just another power supply?
Decided to order this power supply after having numerous ones wear out over the years. This is without a doubt the best power supply I've ever owned. The first thing you notice is the high-quality design. The cords have pleanty of length, and it just feels superior (six outputs). Each of the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v connectors have their own circuit. It measures the output voltages and automatically adjusts itself for power dips.

The second thing you notice is how quiet it is. When I hit the power button I got a little scared because I thought it didn't turn on, but it was working just fine.
