Don't buy this for the damaged equipment warrantee
I don't own this specific APC product, but I do own other APC products.

My home was hit by lightning on July 2, 2004 during a severe lightning storm. Both of my garage door openers were destroyed during the strike and they were on separate NET3 power line surge protectors made by APC.

NET3 surge protectors offer the best ($50,000) damaged equipment warranty that APC offers. APC refuses to pay for replacement garage door openers since in their determination, the surge protectors are functioning properly (I had to send the surge protectors at my expense for analysis at their labs).

I will never contend that a surge protector can protect any device from a direct lightning strike, but the APC warranty contends that they will replace your equipment in the event this unfortunate event occurs.

I now do not recommend APC equipment, since their warranty is worthless.

The TRUE test of a product is whether or not the company will stand behind the product when a problem occurs, and APC has totally failed in this matter.

Excellent Product, Excellent Design
What I particularly like about this surge protector is the feature that has two "always on" outlets. This ensures that my telephone answering machine can be plugged in and protected even when I shut down the unit. I also use this protector for my secondary computer, USB hub and Epson scanner.

This surge protector handles small and large plugs with no problems.It's design to handle large plugs means they don't end up eating up two plugs.Very well done.I highly recommend this surge station.

Well-designed
This surge protector is designed well, so you don't waste two outlets to plug in an AC adapter.It also has two outlets that are always on, so you can turn off your computer equipment at the switch without having your lights go out.

Downsides: It's a bit expensive, and it wastes a bit more power than other surge protectors, even when it's turned off.

Sort out your blocks
APC (which by the way is American Power Conversion, not "American Power Conservation" as amazon.com currently shows it) has always been serious about clean power. This is no ordinary surge protector. It has moreheavy-duty protection features and absorbs more joules of surge energy thanyou're ever likely to see. But what I like is the intelligent layout of theoutlets ... with my ADSL modem, I now have three huge "wall warts" to dealwith. The PRO8T2 handles them well, and manages another smaller one in thetop tier of outlets. A large green light lets me know it's working. And theswitch guard is removable -- if you WANT to be able to turn this unit onand off with your toe, APC made that possible, and they call out thefeature in the instructions. Returned after purchase
I purchased it from staples (...).When I tested it to see if it worked my computer always lost power and restarted.The product didn't work as advertised.I might as well have plugged it into a simple surge protector.

Works great
I own 4 of these and they all work as advertised. I have XP on all of the machines. This price is very good compared to other vendors sales prices. (...) It can get very inexpensive at that time.

I always fine it confusing when somebody thinks a product is awful and someone else says it is great. All I can do is report my own results. Some are near two years old the rest are running for one year.

I agree. It doesn't work, at least with Win XP.
I agree with the previous reviewer. Everytime there is a "brownout" or "power flicker" the battery backup does not engage and the computer just resets. The included software does save whatever files you were working on, but the point of a UPS is to allow a proper computer shutdown. This UPS unit just doesn't work like it's supposed to.

HORRIBLE! NOT EVEN IF IT WERE FREE!
This is a total piece of crap and a total waste of money. I bought this thing on sale for $30 at Staples, but it is a total piece of crap and doesn't do what it is intended to do.

Everytime there has been a storm in which the power flickered even for a moment, this thing doesn't do what its supposed to do -- battery backup. Instead, it just shuts off. What's even more screwed up is that my girlfriend's computer, which is on the same circuit as mine, but plugged into a regular $10 surge protector doesn't have any problems. When the power flickers, her surge protector just absorbs the spike and is fine.

Inexpensive and Must Have
I purchased the BK350 after looking for an inexpensive UPS.This UPS was the least expensive UPS I found that didn't look like a mutated power strip.It will filter line voltages, intercept transient spikes, and kick in when power drops below a certain level.

Works well, and has already saved me from a few unexpected crashes.At power loss, it will keep my workstation running for about three (3) minutes, just enough to cleanly shutdown.

Note, that the APC UPSes tend to be pricier, but I've never had a problem with any of their UPS products.Battery replacement is painless and easy.
