nice entry-level LCD projector
I bought the unit for less than $700 after rebate from Best Buy on Thanksgiving 2004. I mounted it on the ceiling and project onto a 70" x 70" screen. This results in a picture with a diagonal of over 80". Even with the blinds open or the light on, the picture is still visible fairly well. The picture looks amazing at night.
However, due to the low contrast of 400:1, it is hard to follow the action in dark scenes. The lack of an optical zoom leaves you only one spot to position it.
Overall I am pretty satisfied. I knew that for that price I would have to make some sacrifices. Currently I am looking for a DLP projector with a higher resolution (1024 x 768) and a better contrast (2000:1).

The Force of my Theater
This past Thanksgiving, after much prayer, and begging to my wife I was finally able to complete my home theater. I have had the opportunity to try out many projectors through the years, always hoping one day I would find the perfect one: Good Contrast and resolution with multi-capabilities such as computer, s-video, all the way down to RCA plug-ins. Also it had to have huge "bang-for-the-buck" factors. I am not disappointed!

This Projector by NEC was surprising in many ways. They packed it with a cool, very simplified, remote. Plus, they threw in an extra computer cable so you can plug it right in. Nice.

It is very light at 7lbs and the brightness of the 1500 ansi lumens soaks the screen to display vividly sharp details. I have tried out many films so far to test its quality: Fast and the Furious, Nemo, A Bugs life plus others. None had any problems. Computer animated films sparkle on this machine.

There is a fan within the projector to keep down the temp. Most people decide on purchasing depending on the loudness of the fan alone. Gratefully, it is amazingly quiet. Once you turn it off it blows in high gear for about ten seconds then its done.

Here's the catch: You have to want a big picture. The projector does come with an easy zoom function to control picture size, but the kicker is, with it being fifteen feet away from the screen the smallest the image can get is 6ft wide / 5ft tall. Many may worry about dvd artifacting or pixelization at that size, but again, no worries. At 15 feet the image could easily be 10 feet across if I so choose. Nice, once more.

If your deciding on a projector that has vivid color detail and large picture capabilities, even with the lights on, look no further. Like I said, I have tested many through the years, some costing five to ten thousand dollars, you will find very little difference between them and this power packed machine. I've been hurt too
This is not the only Amazon video projector price that is not accurate. I tried to buy a 3m video projector for $464.00 only to be told the same story about it being an Amazon error and that the actual product for sale was a replacement bulb for the projector. Folks, don't get your hopes up. In reality, $311.00 is the cost of a replacement bulb for this product; the real projector sells for much more. Amazon needs to work a little harder to make sure its ads are correct.These errors reflect on the professionalism of Amazon and ruin the public's faith in the company.

multipurpose workhorse
First off, you have to consider how many things this machine is meant to do.It is not primarily a fax machine, although that is one of its functions.

In my office, most work is done over the net or snail mail, we don't use the fax much at all.So, for an occational transmission/reception, it works very well.It hasn't failed yet.

And as an answering machine, it records and plays clearly.It's easy to use and the speaker phone works well when screening calls.

I've had this unit in service for about 1 year, and still have the original film drum in it.Like I said, we are only occational fax users and this unit sits on the line, answers it, takes and sends faxes without a hitch...

Granted, the end quality doesn't hold to a laser fax, but it is fine for our operation and priced right!

If only I'd spent just a little bit more!
I was feeling broke when my fax died and I thought, why bother with one of those more expensive faxes?You just need a basic machine-- go for this one.

Oy. Big mistake. I hate it. Instead of a tidy ink cartridge, you have to use a cumbersome Ink Film roll, which never goes in right, and when you finally do cram it in, it gets used up so quickly, you're always getting caught short.

This is one of those moments when you realize the reason a machine is so [inexpensive] is because it is cheaply made.The plastic is flimsy, no parts line up quite the way they should.
