1-0 out of 5 stars palm os problems
Purchased this product for Palm OS...upon loading onto PC and attemting to transfer to new Palm with plenty of memory discovered it won't allow it to load without buying an expansion card.Customer service consists ONLY of email support which takes days to respond.Don't know yet how good the product itself is yet, but Palm users beware.

4-0 out of 5 stars A whole new way to learn spanish!
This program takes spanish language learning software to a whole new level.Advanced spanish is an appropriate title for this program since It literally immerses you in the language with an actual spanish soap opera episode. You can practice in a number of ways, as well as take quizzes. Some of the activities include a visually based vocabulary program. In this area of the software the program shows you a still from the movie with an object circled and you name the word in spanish.Others include listening for the missing word in a conversation- harder than it sounds. You can watch the movie with and without spanish subtitles so you can follow along with the script or try to watch it without. Some minor- very minor- technical glitches not really affecting the operation of the program or use of it prevent me from giving this a full 5 stars. But a really great, well rounded buy! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pharos does it again!
This is my third Pharos GPS unit and easily the best.Coupled with my HP tablet and MS Streets and Trips 2004, the unit was up and running less than 5 minutes after ripping the plastic off the box!Yeah, that includes reading the Quick Start Manual.

I wish the software had voice prompts like the Ostia software installed on my PPC, but for speed, accuracy, convenience and price, this is a toy every real man should have!Actually, my wife is my navigator . . . behind every good man . . .

Hope someone comes up with a neat little dash mount for a tablet pc real soon. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very quirky item
I just needed an easy way to get pictures off my camera onto my computer. After emails to and from tech support we got this product to work. And for what I need it for it works fine. I have even used it to upload some ringtones to my phone which worked fine as well. There is some tweeking that needs to be done from time to time. (Re-booting usually does the trick.) I paid way too much for mine, but for the price here it is probably a decent value.Haven't tried to do much more with it but may try someday. If you want something simple, or get frustrated easily, find something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars AVOID this product
I am computer savvy, and this item just does not work.It does not connect and hangs up my new computer, slowing it down significantly.I tried it with another computer, with the same results.Tech Support was very poor. There are other manufacturers who sell similiar products. Go with them instead, and save yourself the frustration and money.

I strongly recommend that others avoid this product and this company. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Subscription
Totally lame subscription policy.
This is a great resource, but after a year you can no longer access the information on your PDA. You are only buying a 1-year subscription. I got burned by this. I was truly only interested in one city but it would have been better for me to get the book version so that I still had the information.

1-0 out of 5 stars WARNING: THIS PROGRAM DIES AFTER ONE YEAR!
I enjoyed using Zagat to Go for a year. Then the program refused to run. When I contacted Zagat, I was told that the program was actually a subscription. The program will not run unless you renew the subscription every year. This policy is not mentioned anywhere in the online descriptions. I can understand not being able to upgrade without paying the subscription, but to cripple the program with a drop-dead date is unforgivable. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Still some problems with the product
Basically it has the same functionality as the desktop product, but there are several limitations when the software was scaled down for the PDA. It doesn't work with e-mail programs and it is not possible to take some data to the clipboard without entering into the edit mode. You can not dial a number from a Tungsten T linked to a bluetooth enabled telephone. It seems that Interact were in a hurry to start selling a product for the Palm platform. I hope they release new versions of this product in the near future.

4-0 out of 5 stars ACT!
I love this product for contact management.I am a Realtor and have tried several other systems designed for Real Estate. Now that I am becoming more "computer literate" I find that I can make adaptations to this program to customize it for my business.I have just purchased a Palm M515 and am considering purchasing ACT! for the palm to further increase my efficiency. My life prior to this has been phone numbers and notes on little pieces of paper never to be found when I need them.Having the program on the palm increases the chance that these notes will be "at hand" when I need them, and I can upload them to the PC version each night. Also I can work from the PC and download the info to ACT! for my palm. What a great

4-0 out of 5 stars Syncs with Handheld
The absolute best feature of this software is the ability to sync with your handheld. The ability to call-up any password or account info in my handheld when I'm travelling is the exact feature I was looking for, but yet have all the info also stored on my computer at home. The reason I only gave four stars is the lack of a search function in the application - you have to scroll through all your entries to find the one you want.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not enough features!
Just checked the demo version - this program does nothing but saving passwords. It lacks most functions that are typical for similar programs:
- There no possibility to drag the passwords to login pages.
- No Search, no Sort
- No file handling, Passwords are saved in a fixed folder.
- Only one dimensional category list, no hierarchical structure.
- No Password Generator
- ...
There is a lot of freeware and shareware that has more features. (e.g. Bagusoft Password Safe, Password Tresor, ...)

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for e-commerse user
This is very easy to use.
Comes very handy with all the on-line shopping out there. You start your browsing right from inside this software by cliking on the hyperlinks for each entry.
Very vesitile, customizable. Definitelly thumbs up!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars YOUR WORLD IN THE PALM OF YOUR HANDS!
If you want to keep your personal password and account information safe and close at hand, Passwords Plus is an easy, inexpensive alternative to the little pieces of paper floating around in your wallet. There is no learning curve and the lists are flexible and easy to personalize. Best of all, you'll keep finding new uses for it such as insurance policies, warranties, serial #'s, banking, business. Now that this information is safely with me, I refer back to it quite often. If you are concerned with security and want to organize your personal data, I highly recommend this program. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done.
Since Verizon tries to make you pay to transfer pix from your phone, I wanted another solution.Datapilot works as advertised.I am able to send pictures, both ways from phone to PC and back. The transfer process does take about 30 seconds/picture.

I likewise can download ringtones to my phone. However the ringtone editor is somwhat weak so you may need another piece of software to convert your MP3s to ringtones, then easily import them to DataPilot.

The back-up mechanism for contacts was simple and straight forward.

1-0 out of 5 stars IT does the job, barely.
Ideally, you wouldn't have to think about backing up phone numbers stored in your cell phone. Your mobile phone company would take care of it for you, and store your backups automaticaly on their servers. But life isn't so ideal. You have the choice of not bothering to backup the numbers or using DataPilot. There are no other aleternatives that I know of.

I want to use DataPilot for one thing only -- to store a backup of numbers stored in my phone. Someday, I may have to restore that backup. That's it. The program ought to have a few buttons, almost no options, and be trivial to use. Instead, it has many dozen menus and options. I think I have saved my phone numbers, but I am not really sure.

Given there is no alternative, it is worth the aggravation to get this to work. But the people who designed this ought to be ashamed of themselves. Rather than making it really really easy to archive a list of phone nubmers, they have produced a program that I suppose does other things too, but is hard to use.

ALso beware of the packaging. It takes serious effort and tools to open up the package. It is way harder to open than most electronic or software products. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Thinking of buying a used one?Look again
Toshiba is known for their excellent notebook/laptop, but not for their PDA. My first PDA was the Apple Newton and Toshiba e335 is my current and last one (currently looking at the IPAQ 6315/6365).

My overall experience with the e335 is not too good. Hardware quality is very poor (cracked adaptor socket, creaking case). I am not at all a "heavy" user, but I still find this e335 to be inadequate and below average in everything. Battery life is average; plus it cannot be replaced when the battery is at the end of its lifetime. The processor is so slow and buggy, it requires "soft" reset several times a day.

The worst of all is the poor support from Toshiba itself as the maker of this PDA. The last rumor I heard was, Toshiba stops making and selling PDA (its a reality by now in 2005). So my suggestion is: don't even consider buying a used one or new ones advertised as clearance model, because you'll be stuck with less than average PDA that you can only use as a shiny toy to impress a 4 year old....

1-0 out of 5 stars poor choice, don't buy
Expensive toy but not useful at all.
If you don't recharge it, you lose your memory??? What kind of a deal is that for $400, as I paid? Do yourself a favor and buy something better.

4-0 out of 5 stars I like it, but don't buy it.
It's late August 2004. You shouldn't be considering this PDA, even as a bargain.

It's a great little device. Slim, strong, powerful. Great display. Long battery, by my standards (if I forget where it is for 3 or 4 days, it's still alive when I find it).

If you can get it for 20 bucks, ok, buy it.

Otherwise, the problem is: Toshiba won't support it anymore. By 'not supporting' the e-335, I mean they won't upgrade the OS. You're stuck with what it comes with.

That's neat and all - but Microsoft has had an upgrade out to Windows CE (or whatever they're calling it now) for almost a year. Toshiba told me in an e-mail that, like Compaq iPaq users, or Dell Axim's, or Jornada's....... e-335 won't get an upgrade. Six months between purchase of the device and the new OS and I can't get an upgrade. Not even one I can purchase.

That's annoying. It's 2004. Go shop for a different one.

Not to mention, the thing has an Intel 'X-Scale' processor. It's not a successful standard for a processor and I'm starting to run into compatibility problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good PDA
Got it around my birthday Sept of 2003, Great buy, 2 problems shipping took almost 2 weeks instead of 2 days from NJ to MA, 2nd Battery problems almost 2 months later Toshiba was able to replace but battery problem continued so I gave up. All in all 8 months later and other than battery still loving it. Would buy from seller again. Still the shipping was a bit delayed but it was still a reliable PDA

1-0 out of 5 stars Great PC, Don't buy from Amazon
On December 2, 2003 I ordered the Toshiba E335 from Amazon.com because it showed a great price and a 20 dollar mail-in-rebate.I was so excited to find a Pocket PC with 300 MHZ, MS Pocket PC 2003, and 64 MB of ram for under 200 dollars that I purchased one for my dad and one for my brother-in-law as Christmas Gifts.I was certain I would receive my package any day when I received an email from Amazon.com Customer Service saying that they had oversold the pocket pc and I would receive neither of the items I ordered.Needless to say, I am very discouraged. ... I've been using this pen for a half-year.It's unlike other pens in that you have to hold the pen horizontally for it to correctly select the pencil, stylus or red/black ink pen you wish to use.It also a comfortable pen to hold while working with the pocket pc....much better than the toothpick stylus that came with my pocket pc.I'm actually here online to purchase one for a friend.

Once you realize you have to be smarter than the pen, you'll enjoy this 4 in 1 Stylus.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Buy
I thought I would use this pen as a replacement for my Belkin 4 in 1, Bad Bad idea. The black started peeling off within a week of having this stupid pen. Black and Red ink is no good (fade away). Stay away from this pen.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not so bad once you figure out the trick to using this pen
Another reviewer indicated that you have to hold this
pen horizonatally to get reliable device changes. This
seems to be the case.My stylus/pen did not have any
mark on the end that you click so I put one on with
a permanent marker.I found that as long as this mark
is "up" with the pen horizontal, I get reliable pen
changes.Perhaps this stylus/pen relies on gravity to
work. While quirky, this is not an issue once you
figure out the trick.I've not had this long enough
for the paint to peel yet.I got this on sale for
$3.99 and I'm happy so far at that price.

2-0 out of 5 stars Paint peals off, low ink quality, merely adequate
Cons:
- The black paint where you hold the pen peels off, you are leaft with an unsightly yellowish copper color.
- Black and red ink are bad quality and fade in an out. Red in my pen is actually intermittement.
- The cap at he top is too tall and sticks out noticably.

Pros:
- Better than the skinny stylus.

Bottom line. I wouldn't buy it again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worst universal stylus
I have misplaced my 3-in-1 Stealth from Platinum pen company and started using the iConcepts pen that I have got as a present. It was a nightmare. Black inc was not working right out of the box (I had to replace it), the pencil broke in about 5 days and the stylus part was sticking out of its place every second time, so I have to disassemble the pen to stick it in. In about 10 days of use the black and silver pain that covered the pen started peeling out making it looking awkward. I have struggled a month with it and just yesterday found my misplaced Stealth. What a difference! The iConcepts went to garbage same day. If you like multi-functional pens, avoid this one, use Stealth instead. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure Junk
Ditto to the other reviews.Misleading packaging. This is a worthless program that takes forever to load.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't By This!!! Streets and Trips is vastly better-
I bought this as an add on to my Tungsten E, what a mistake. I already own Streets and Trips from MS and use it instead of Yahoo or Mapquest. Streets, how ever does not load to Palm devices. This program is terrible. The user interface is crap. In trip planning for example, there is a time estimates, but there's no profiles for freeways v. side roads. Also you can't plan a trip based on start times, a handy feature for long trips.Stops can be added as appointments, and it routes you to your stops, but you don't know how long it might take to get there. It also has no calculated road expense. Like entering the cost of the gas and your mileage and then getting a trip profile that shows you how long and how much you can plan to spend on your trip. Simple stuff like that.

The Concierge feature, which is supposed to tell you about places to eat and such works OK, but it's not very flexible. For example, if you want to eat in a particular neighborhood it defaults to the whole town.

All in all this was a huge waste of money. If you want mapping software get Streets and Trips and print the maps you need. This one is garbage.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
The packaging of this product seems delibertly designed to confuse the buyer. The product suggests that it can generate directions -- what it doesn't mention is that you have to go back to your computer each time to do so.You might as well use MapQuest!Other mapping products like Mapopolis and Tom Tom can actually do this.I finally decided to buy Mapopolis because it doesn't require a Tungsten T3 like Tom Tom (it doesn't even work on the T2 or Clie units) and have been happy with my purchase. It's a shame you can't return software, because I would love to send Rand McNally back ...

1-0 out of 5 stars Big Mistake - Poor functionality, inaccurate
Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware! I regularly rely on Internet mapping programs (e.g., MapQuest, Yahoo Maps) and thought a personal computer based PC to PAD mapping tool would allow easy interface between address book locations (throughout the USA) and surrounding points of interest and other business locations. The write-up for Rand McNally StreetFinder looked like a perfect fit . . .and if the software actually worked as advertised, it would have been. Unfortunately, from initial problems with installation, through dozens of common address locations that the software could not find or map, to partial downloads to my Tero 600 - this is one of the poorest software investments I have ever made. Save your money and stick with downloading maps from the Web. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Hardware Problems
At first this worked great. Then I started experiencing image problems on the screen. Finally after a little more than a year, the iPAQ stopped working.I was in the middle of updating something when the screen went black and wouldn't change.I charged it although it was fully charged, and then it wouldn't turn off.Still, nothing on screen.Overall, I'm very disappointed. My next handheld will not be an HP.

5-0 out of 5 stars One should try this
I received iPaq as a birthday gift from my fiance.I know quite well about electronics.
My initial impression was Wow..
The Display/Graphics is extremely pleasing.Navigation is very simple..so any starter who is not very techno savvy can operate this PC with ease.Since the operating system is Windows CE,its very simple to browse thru(as many are familiar with Windows GUI).The best feature ofcourse is Outlook Syncup (must for all Pocket PCs ofcourse) but its easy and quick. The software installation is not too difficult either. The sound quality is good and works great with a Secure Digital card as well.

Now for a few Cons,
The conventional "CROSS" at Top,right hand corner doesnot stand for "Closing" of the program but it means "Minimising" the screen. That leaves your program still running in Backgroud. So even if the display shows your "desktop" (Today screen) there are functions running in backgroud...This will make your PC freeze often if many programs are running.
This PC freezes very often and I have to reset it then.
If it freezes real bad then you will have to Hard reset it which means your data is lost.
So I would suggest that "Stop" all the running programs at certain intervals..You have that option in "Settings".

But overall I am very happy with the performance...
I would advise one to buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sync problems keep cropping up/no support
I've had mine for 1.5 years, and it's very useful, except for one problem. I can't sync. At all.

At first it synced fine, but after a while, I had occasional problems and would have to spend hours getting it to work, because my comp would not be able to find the device (I've found many reasons for this, and trust me - they are a pain to chase down - even fluff in the connector and an iffy signal to the interface will do the trick). This time, I've spent a week of evenings searching for the solution. When I checked the HP Web site, this item was totally lacking in help, I believe because it is no longer sold. My comp is fine, the device is fine, and the Activesync is there - they just are not speaking. I call this the "family feud PDA" - they are close, they are family - they won't talk.

I've given up on it - bought a Palm-based product for a bit higher cost. So easy, plus it has a camera, an MP3 player, and it syncs!

2-0 out of 5 stars hp1910 - Nice size, lousy hardware, would not buy again
I've used PDAs for 10+ years and this unit does not compare favorably.Best features: Screen is great, software on the PDA works great.Three biggest drawbacks: 1)Unprotected buttons on front and side lead to inadvertent activation of software and battery drain whenever the unit is touched (think pocket, purse or briefcase), 2) this unit communicates only through synchronization, there is no way to communicate with any other hardware (no GPS, no serial port connection, etc.), and 3) the Microsoft ActiveSync software and/or the interface with this device is buggy (I've had lots of problems that were only recoverable by finding and deleting folders and files on my PC and then starting the connection process from scratch).I would not buy this product again and was very disappointed to uncover the missing serial port capability (not obvious until I got the unit home).

4-0 out of 5 stars Very useful for the price.
I recieved an HP iPAQ 1915 as a gift at the end of last year, and it's great. The only difference between my 1915 and the 1910 is that the 1915 supports SDIO. But the 1915 is very hard to find, so this is the closet thing to it. If you need Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, this does not have it and a card for that feature will not work without the SDIO slot. So if you need those features, look at higher end models.

I am a big computer person, and this is MY first PDA, although other people in my family have had them, and it's great. One of the things I use mine for is basic organization using the included calander, tasks, contacts, etc. The programs are done very well, the files take up little memory, and it takes little effort to record the info you need. But if you all you need is an organizer, there are much cheaper alternatives. If you use it for more, like me, then read on.

Those tasks don't show this PDA's true cababilities. So what does? Well, games of corse. And I don't mean tetris and solitare. Can you say Nintendo and Gameboy? Yes. If you get one of these, you can get an emulator for it, and it'll play your favorite Nintendo and Gameboy games flawlessly. Of course, to download ROMS, you need to legally own the actal game. But the picture is rich, and there is no lag unless you're multi-tasking or trying to run a more intensive emulator, such as Super Nintendo or Gameboy Advanced, neither of which I have tried. There are many games writen specificly for Windows CE as well, which should run well on it. The display shows all of these beautifully.

It can also play music! Download Windows Media Player from the included CD, and you can listen to WMAs or MP3s on it. Other progams can be downloaded or purchased that can play other formats. I use WinamPAQ to paly 80kbs ogg vorbis files, which maintain CD quality while being smaller than an MP3 file. The sound quality is superb, and under settings and audio, you can adjust the bass and treble. It goes pretty loud, but as any portable music player, heavy bass and high volumes will distort some. But my main complaint comes in here. A 2.5MM HEADPONE JACK. WHY HP!?!?!? This is smaller than most headphone jacks, which are 3.5mm. This means you'll have to use their bad included headpones, or buy and carry around a bulky converter.

An SD chip can be purchased if you plan on putting large programs, music, etc. on your iPAQ. They come in many sizes between 16MB and 4GB. 128MB-512MB should be sufficent for most people.

As far as specs, they are fairly good for the price. The 200Mhz XScale processor can run basic tasks very well, as well as some more complex tasks. But listening to music while doing other stuff can stress out this CPU, and performance will suffer. If you plan on multi-tasking, get a version with a better processor. The 1900 series come with 64MB of RAM, but only 46MB is available for the user because there is only 16MB of Flash ROM. So it requires some essential programs be loaded to RAM. The available 46MB is storage and temporary memory. If you want good performance try to leave at least 1/3 of the memory empty for programs to use temporarily. A slider in the memory setting allows the user to adjust this. But this ammount of memory can store thousands of word and excel documents, tasks, contacts, appoinments, etc.

All-in-all, it should be fast and versitile enough for most people. It is a good comprimise between price and features. And it is one of the smallest PDAs available with a 320x240 display. Those who need to run more intensive programs, have more features, etc. should upgrade to a higher end iPAQ. Those who only need basic organization features can get a low end Palm or dedicated elecronic organizer for a lower price. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Connect to your PC using a standard phone line, synchronize data whileyou're traveling, or check e-mail and surf the Web--all from your HandspringVisor handheld with the Handspring modem module.

To set up the modem module,we inserted the included AAA batteries, removed the slot protector from theHandspring Visor, inserted the module into the Visor, connected the phone line, and ran the modem setup program. Installation was quick, easy, and intuitive, requiring only about three minutes.

To use the modem module, you'll need toinstall, set up, and run communication software. Unfortunately, the modem moduledoesn't come with software, so you'll have to download your own--a trulysurprising and disappointing omission by Handspring. However, Handspring doesmake the process of locating software easy. We visited www.handspring.com,followed links to software, and downloaded a trial version of MultiMail PRO fromActualSoft. You may want to read reviews of communication software in yourfavorite handheld periodical to determine what software title is best foryou.

MultiMail PRO comes with configuration settings for AT&T World Net,CompuServe, EarthLink, Netcom, Shore, MindSpring, and the IBM Global Network. With this software, connecting our Visor to the Internet to check e-mail was aseasy as entering a phone number, account name, and password. However, we werenot able to connect our Visor to an alternate ISP whose settings were notpreconfigured. (Obviously, we cannot fault Handspring for the limitations ofthird-party software, but we do fault them for not including software atall.)

If you want to stay connected while you're on the road, the 33.6 Kbpsmodem module is a must-have accessory. --Mike Brown

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This modem is awesome! I'm 14 years old and have the targus stowaway keyboard it helps a lot writing emails (and this review) I can also buy things too, it's almost like having a full computer with you all the time. This will help my mom a lot when she needs to work and i want to chat with my friends. (lol) people have written that it was hard but it was simple for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comes with Handspring Connect CD (AvantGo and OneTouch Mail
I read that some folks said that they did not receive any communications software.I received a CD with my Handspring 33.5 modem that had AvantGo and OneTouch Mail from JP Mobile.I recommend the Handspring Blazer internet browser....The AvantGo software is free but uses a web-connect hotsync to get your daily off-line web channels. You can get the latest download... for version 4.0.OneTouch email was free and works great for the price.Multi-Mail was bought by Palm and is downloadable....Free trial periodof 15 days.

The modem was easy to use and install.I use rechargable AAA NiMh 1.2V @ 650mah.I have 12 so when I rundown, I just slip in a fresh charged set.I feel that fax and 56 K is not what I need so the Handspring 33.6k baude is a great price...

4-0 out of 5 stars Connectivity for your Handspring at a very competitive price
The Handspring modem is one of the middle class modems on the market, and Amazon is offering at a great price! If you want to connect to the internet on your handspring at a good price, then this is your best bet.Although it may not be the fastest OR the thinnest in its class, it functions very well.Besides, on a tiny screen with limited content, you don't need to have a 56k modem for the connection to be fast. And, if you don't mind, carrying around an extra half-inch on your palm isn't that bad.You would be amazed with what you can do with a palm pilot hooked up to the internet. On the go, I often synchronize avant-go, connect to AOL anywhere, and browse the web all in the palm of my hand. So, if you want to be truly "connected" then buy this modem while they last.

1-0 out of 5 stars How does this thing work???
I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and still haven't figured out how to work it.The instruction manual is not very helpful. It doesn't even tell you how to go about getting mail and accessing the internet othere than sayingyou need "third party software" to do so.Well what else would one use a modem for?Shouldn't the software be included or at least suggestions of which to use?I downloaded Eudora Suite (free) and just can't figure this out.It should not be this difficult for an average person to use.I will continue to work with it but if I can't get it up and running soon I will return it.So far it's been a waste of money.I amn very disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition and Fast.
Takes 2 AAA batteries that last about 1 week for heavy duty use.Does POP3 with Eudora Mail. Also works great with Eudora Web browser. With Eudora Mail you don't need to hot sync mailbecause you access your POP3 email and can remotely erase files. It also lets you bring in attachments if needed. ...
