1-0 out of 5 stars Screen flickers
When you have your Clie in the cradle the back light on the Clie's display flickers at a 60 hz rate.I cannot believe that's good for the Clie and since I'm very fond of my little PDA I'm NOT going to use this cradle. If I can't get it returned I'm going to junk it and buy the Sony cradle.I'll rest easier.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Cradle
PRO:The cradle has a tilt feature that is nice for reducing glare. You can Sync without having the charger plugged in.You can also unplug the power source from the cradle for weekends not in use.Has a strong connection.Don't worry about it falling off the cradle.

CON:I wonder why there are two lights on the cradle, but only the power side works.Nothing for sync, or is my light not working.I have noticed that the power light on my Clie flickers all the time while in the cradle.Don't know if its supposed to go out after a full charge or its a strobe.

2-0 out of 5 stars Screen flickers...
cradle is fine and securely holds my clie, but the screen flickers a lot while charging. also looks cheaply constructed with a few exposed wires. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Piece of Crap
Granted, I didn't want to spend too much on one of these.I guess I kind of got what I paid for. There is a splotch on the screen that showed up just two months after receiving it.ViewSonic totally ignored me.The battery stinks. The screen freezes so I have to reset the dumb thing.I bought this back in July of 03.I hate it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good PDA compared to iPaq
Lots of good information on the Viewsonic, including the software upgrade, at the Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ViewSonic/

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this
This handheld has never worked properly. The USB connection has never worked well. I used to be able to synchronize to my computer once in a blue moon by holding the handheld down on the cradle and gently moving it until it connected. It has now completely failed to connect -- after less thana year. Also the alarm goes off at random times. For no reason it started beeping at midnight last night and again at 5 AM. I had a Palm for years and have gone back to using it. It was so much more reliable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Probably the best choice in 250$ range
Before buying this product I thought a long time tochoose between the V35 and HP1910 and finally decided infavor of v35.
I am using it with a 128MB SDCard for additional storage space.
Up to now, I did not have any problems with the device. One of the cons is it does not have many built-in gadgets like wireless (802.11b) or bluetooth, but in this price range those are impossible to find.
I frequently get online help from ViewSonic and so far they answered all my questions in two days time via email. Viewsonic runs a free upgrade program to PocketPC2003 (device comes with PPC2002) at the moment. Ive had a problem with this issue, because of the fact that I am living in Turkey, the online free upgrade program does not support me, but I ve contacted to Viewsonic and they agreed to send me a free upgrade cd if I would give them an address in US. But for US residents I dont think this will create a problem.
The good thing about the PPC2003 upgrade is that with the upgrade, it is said that (Ref: ViewSonic website and "http://www.socketcom.com/pdf/SDIOCompatibilityMatrix.pdf", the onboard SD slot gains SDIO (SD Input/Output) capability. This means, you can purchase a wireless SDIO card and use it to browse web or you can also get a Bluetooth SDIO and connect to devices using Bluetooth, possibilities are endless. As far as I know its strongest rival HP1910 does not have any SDIO and CompactFlash IO capability. I would recommend PDA buyers to be careful about the expansion capabilities of the devices they are thinking to purchase.
The onboard InfraRed port works fine. The TFT screen is well lit and provides comfortable usage. The device is made of metal looking plastic, it may be better if it is made of light metalsuch as aluminum or better titanium. The battery takes more than 4 hours depending on the processor usage.
ActiveSynch connection to PC works well. The portable poweradapter for charging is a good idea, you can take it with you and charge it whenever necessary just like your cell phone. It may be wonderful if an additional portable USB synch cable is provided with the device in addition to the provided cradle. Another wonderful thing would be an additional CF card slot, but I dont think anybody can find both of the slots in a device in the price range.
As a conclusion, with the additional expansion capabilities (SDIO)with the PocketPC2003 upgrade, this may be one of the best choices in this price range. I would also strongly recommend the usage of an additional memory card with the device.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Possible Customer Service
View screen went bad in just under 2 months of light use.Spend 2 1/2 hours at Compusa trying to get replacement, ended up calling Viewsonic and signing up for their "will ship in 48 hours" replacement program.Had to fax forms to them twice since first form Viewsonic said to fill out was the wrong form. Now 2 weeks later unit has yet to ship.DO NOT BUY FROM VIEWSONIC.... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Read the box already........
First off, some of these people who offer reviews need to stick to beta and 8 tracks. In reference to a previous review, of course it doesn't playback, its a freakin recorder. Second, just because it lacks a remote doesn't make it bad (get up and start the record process yourself!!!!!!!!!) I digress though, I purchased one of these so I could watch movies on long plane rides from DC to LA via my Clie UX-50. I load up a 1 or 2 gig memory stick with about a half a dozen movies and I am in a happy minature video coma for hours. Of course I have to initially deflect all the curious questions about the UX-50. Ughh. The bottom line is that this is a great product that does EXACTLY what it is designed to do.... record video to memory sticks for later viewing on other memory stick compatible products. Sure its expensive, but its cutting edge, well designed and its a Sony product. If you havn't noticed, Sony products are not cheap. You get what you pay for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic device...
I love this unit. You can choose to record at, basically, 3 quality levels. The sound and picture are great on my Sony UX-50.Many will consider it an expensive toy, but the quality is fantastic and I enjoy it.For the person that has everything...

2-0 out of 5 stars Prototypes should remain in R&D
I bought this system when there were no reviews based on:
o Trusting the Sony brand name.
o Impulse Buy after getting a Clie
As to every device, there are pros and cons. Problem is when the cons >> Pros.

Pros:
o System is small, Light Weight.
o Can be placed vertical or horizontal.
o Accepts MS & MS Pro (30 min for every 128 megs approx. at high quality)
o Can record at various quality levels for memory efficincy.
o Line-in and Line-out + RF in.

Cons:
o System ONLY RECORDS, it does not play what you recorded, so playing recordings on a big screen TV is out of the question.
o No remote provided, which means you have to get up every time you want to start or stop a recording. Placing the system in a small space between your TV and DVD player adds the disadvantage of awkward button pressing.
o Way too expensive. for the price of 2 I can get a top quality DVD recorder.
o Recordings do not play on a PC.

Sony always does this, come up with a great product (Clie) and flood the market with prototype add-ons that are discontinued due to 'lack of sales'. I hope this trend doesn't last long. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 Must Have's - Security and Native Files!
I've been a Docs To Go user since version #4, and it's a program I wouldn't want to live without.I recently upgraded to the Palm Tungsten T-3, and Docs To Go #6 Premium looks great on the high resolution color screen - especially when viewed on the wider horizontal format when my T-3's slide-out cover is fully extended.

I originally didn't buy the Premium Edition of Docs To Go #6, but I upgraded as soon as I learned that it had two new features - both of which I had always longed to have!

The first is SECURITY.In MS Word, one can save documents that are openable only with a password.(When saving a document, use "save as" and then click "options.")This security feature carries over when the files are transferred via Docs To Go #6 Premium. To activate this feature on my Palm, I need simply to tap on the "Options" tab in the upper menu bar on my screen, followed by "Security," and then "Hide Records."

The second essential feature is Docs To Go #6's ability to save documents in NATIVE MS WORD format - which means that the file can be opened directly in MS Word!I can now save a document on my Palm's SD card - and then open it straight away on my PC in Word - without having to sync my Palm using Docs To Go before hand. This enables me to work remotely on my Palm (using my ultra-portable Stowaway Palm keyboard) and then open, edit and print the document on any computer that has MS Word.(To facilitate this, I carry a USB SD Card reader with me, which is plug-and-play for all Windows XP computers.)

Since a Word file is much larger than a Palm Memo file, this allows me to take notes in a long meeting - which I can then edit on my PC and distribute almost immediately to my other team members via email!(Before Docs To Go #6 Premium, I would take notes in Memo, and then cut-and-paste the text into a Word document - after I had transferred the Memo file to my home PC by syncing. What a pain!)Also, taking notes during a meeting using a Palm + keyboard is still kind of cool - whereas doing the same using a laptop isn't even close!

As another useful tool, I've also installed the latest version of BtPrint from ISComplete on my Palm, which allows me to print wirelessly to the infrared (IR) or Bluetooth (Bt) capable printers available to me at my home and in my office.MS Word documents printed via BtPrint look almost letter quality. For work, since my new company wouldn't provide me with a desktop printer, I went ahead and purchased a very used HP 990 cxi (which has IR) - along with a hardly used Bluetooth print adapter - both from eBay, which put me into business very inexpensively.

(As a final pair of tips, if you search very carefully using Google, you can even find the HP website which will send you a print driver disc for $10, which makes trying to bypass your company's firewall to download the software unnecessary.I've also installed PrintBoy 6.0 available from Bachmann software on my Palm which will print my To Do list -- by category -- which makes me look super-organized!Hey, in times like these, it's important to have every possible advantage, right?)

With the Security and Native MS file saving capabilities of Docs To Go #6 Premium, my Palm is even more indispensable than ever. This is one program I definitely couldn't do without! Why should you?

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid the demo at least
I tried the demo v.6.005 on my Treo 600. Very impressive for the most part, but unlike the free bundled viewer it crashed very badly on an e-mailed native Word doc attachment. I actually had to do a hard reset and reinstall all my apps and data from scratch. This is a very impressive piece of software, but hard crashes like these (which I subsequently re-tested and found repeatable) aren't really acceptable. Verdict: don't use this if you plan to travel away from your hotsync PC for any length of time!

2-0 out of 5 stars unsuable
documents to go compresses my power point slides to the level where the graphics and text are literally unreadable.space on my memory stick is not tight so I would rather have the raw data, but i found no way to change this.a 15 meg document is compressed down to 580k, of course the quality is terrible.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of versions!!!
I recently bought a Palm Zire 71 and found it to be everything I could ever want out a PDA, except for the fact that it lacked the proper software to load Microsoft Word Documents. Happily, I found the DataViz website, downloaded a trial copy of Documents To Go Premium 6.0, and all was well... until the trial period ended.

Not wanting to make a transaction over the net (they only accept credit cards on the site!) I had to find a local vendor that sold the software. And thus, the nightmare started. This product isn't easy find. It took me months to find a store that actually sold the dang thing, but when I finally purchased it, I found that it turned out to be version 5.0!!! Now, here is where things go horribly wrong...

Version 5.0 is a mess. There were multiple times when my Palm had to be reset, and there was even an occasion when the document I was working on simply vanished. Add to that, there's no such thing as a BOOKMARK even on that older version!

So be careful when you make the purchase. Better to just buy it here at Amazon.com and save yourself the trouble that I had to endure.

My advice; Palm better think VERY carefully about shipping any PDA without Documents To Go 6.0

Looking back, I could have saved myself a lot of pain, by buying a Pocket PC instead!

5-0 out of 5 stars This program kicks butt!
If you want to bring your Office documents around on your you Palm or Sony handheld, this is the product for you.Sweet new user interface that gives all file info, allows for selective syncing of documents, easy SD card management. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I agree, it is pathetic
I bought the software to calculate mileages between two points. I operate a trucking business and drive myself. I want to calculate the distance say, between Raleigh, NC and Philadelphia, PA. I have a 1 gig compact flash card I bought to store the map data on. It was hopeless to even think about loading the east coast onto the memory card. I sat there for an hour highlighting the entire east coast(selecting blocks). I had 21,000 blocks selected. The desktop worked all night trying to save this file. I never did get it to work. DeLorme acts like this software is so versatile. The object of using a Handheld computer for mapping is to store mapping info and perform useful functions in the field as they may arise. This software is for someone who would rather save a small map on a pda rather than use the paper one they have or print one and take it along. I am also returning this software. It is a joke and a real dissapointment. I have a few other quotes but they would be inappropriate to post here. I hate to even rate it with one star. -5 stars would be more like it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Crashes when you try to make a route!Worthless!
I have the 2005 version. It is worthless. It will not allow you to route from current GPS position to a point.And...when you try to map a shortest or quickest route, the system freezes after up to 5 minutes of "thinking" the computation. The software is only effective at routing for very short routes.Anything I tried over 10 miles would take at least 5 minutes to compute. And I'm using a newer HP Ipaq with plenty of memory. This software stinks. If you buy a GPS go with some other software.

1-0 out of 5 stars pitiful
I used to like DeLorme's products.THis one is poor at best as far as being functional.GPS takes forever to locate, map loading from desktop to PDA is not as easy as the interface would have you believe, and you cannot adjust zoom level manually.

As poor as the Pharos / Ostia package is, it beats DeLorme in functionality.I wish it had the POI and address info that DeLorme has ... better yet, I wish DeLorme had thier functionality.I am returning the DeLorme product in the morning.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Purchase - Major Flaws
I unfortunately purchased the Delorme USA 2004 Handheld Street Atlas.I can't believe Delorme would release such a third rate product.

What is good. The maps are ok, some pretty good POI, but I found them to not be placed correctly on the maps, in some cases up to a mile off.

What is bad. Quite a bit.The maps are slow to load, you can't re-calculate a route if you take a wrong turn (which makes the program pretty much completely worthless), Locations can't be saved on the PDA, so you need to re-type them every time you want to make a route, the app does not take advantage of the Clie long screen. Street level detail is lacking when zoomed in at the lowest level - simple things like street names. When traveling, the cursor that indicates your location is usually off - this once again depends on finding the correct zoom level.

Door to Door directions is a bit misleading if you ask me. Searching is horrendous. It does not allow for saved searches, so once again, you need to type stuff over again and again.

I hope the 30 day guarantee still applies. I wish I read these reviews before I bought this.

1-0 out of 5 stars A flawed product
I'm returning this product.I couldn't get out the starting gate because of poor documentation. It was very unclear how to transfer maps from a PC to a Palm T3 SD Card.Other reviewers point out that you can't do address lookups on the PDA which limits the usefullness of this package.I was planning to use this software with Delorme's Earthmate GPS receiver.I'm now looking at the TomTom T3 GPS offering instead. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Works just fine for me.
The people who are having problems entering their serial numbers should try calling customer services. Mine works just fine.

Tetris: How can you argue with Tetris? It was my main reason for buying it and it was worth it.

Solitaire: I already had this same program from elsewhere. Like Klondike, love Canfield, but the tableau for Forty Thieves is too small.

Poker Dice: Bo-o-oring. Doing it with real dice is funner.

Backgammon: I can't find a computer version that can give me a good game. At least this one doesn't cheat. (Some programs cheat. I can beat them anyway.)

Colors: I don't know what it is with this game. I don't particularly like it, but I can't put it down.

1-0 out of 5 stars Demo's and Serial Number Entry Before Play...Stinks!
Just like an earlier reviewer stated, most of the games are demo's and the few that aren't force you to enter a serial number before you can play.

I should have read the reviews before buying, at least I didn't pay full price as it was on clearance for $10.00 which is still $10.00 too much.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IT - IT'S A RIP OFF!
I would have given this product 0 stars if I could.

Save yourself the money, and the hassle, it's a rip off.

You're not buying games, you're buying demos.

Most of the demos you have 3 days from when you install it to try it out. If you want to play it after that - you have to buy it.

They give you a "serial number" but it doesn't work with any of the games - not even Tetris.

I checked all over the packaging to see if there was any mention of it being all demos - nothing.

I looked through the documentation, nothing about demos - nothing about any "real" serial numbers.

I emailed the company - through their support website - asking what was up - I haven't heard anything back.

Oh, yeah, I also checked out their website - there's nothing there regarding these things being demos - or putting in real serial numbers.

Save yourself the time, money and headache - don't buy this product. You can just as easily goto the various companies websites and purchase it straight from them, and then you won't be out the $20 or so you spent for a garbage cd and some packaging.

5-0 out of 5 stars smoking hot deal!
Tetris is addictive. You know you need it.This was free after discounts, but they say the first one is always free...

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for Windows
Despite what the description here says, this program is not actually for Windows -- it is for Palm PDA's. It comes on a CD, and you need Windows to install it on the Palm, but the games will not run on your Windows-based PC. It sounds like a fine program for PDA's, and I look forward to trying it on my Palm, but that's not what this listing says. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Craps makes you THINK you are a winner.
I bought this game as an aid for learning how to play craps. That was a mistake. You can't keep track of your winnings because it gives you back what you lose.Nor does it handle bets properly."Any Craps" should be a one roll bet but `Casino' leaves it on the table until you win or you crap out.It doesn't handle placing "odds" on a line bet properly, either.

If you want to learn craps or simulate playing avoid this software. If you want to improve your self esteem by winning all the time it is a great buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nec Mobile Pro 900
Ok to all of you looking at an alternative to pocket pc and laptops then this device will be a welcome addition and a change of some sorts. I've owned a Jornada 720, 728 and a 547 which is a pocket pc. I honestly prefer handheld to the pocket pc because it encompasses everything into one unit with minimal lugging around of accessories and gadgets. When a unit can accommodate compact flash, secure digital and has a built in modem and PCMCIA slots then u have an all in one solution. These particular styles are more geared to the mobile professional and the frequent traveler. I'm considering buying this one and selling all of my old handhelds and pocket pc's because of nothing else technology. The only manufacturer left in the game is NEC and this unit has a 400 MHz Xscale processor (the same as in the high end pocket pc's) and has 64meg of ram and rom. The thing that people are going to say negatively about this machine is the screen. That's not NEC's fault. Until Microsoft gets off its lazy unsupportive billion dollar butt and offers a service pack to the hpc2000 OS then it will be hard to foresee change. I can stand being at the mercy of software developers. Hardware has always been ahead of software throughout the inception of technology. The current Handheld OS is 4 years old and wont support higher resolutions and color depths. However this unit does have external capabilities that allow it to be displayed at 800x600 which is acceptable for power point presentations and the like. Everyone that is a Handheld owner should write and send email to Microsoft to force a service pack upgrade because these units are more than capable of providing years of good hard use and its a shame that a new warranted unit like the NEC is hampered only by the software and not technology. It's a shame as well that HP got out of the market because their Jornadas were second to none. Anyway I'm a dreamer and I do foresee an upgrade to the OS and this NEC unit does have a ton of potential and a myriad of uses. Don't buy it expecting it to compete with a pocket pc in terms of the screen and performance due to the fact it uses passive active matrix screen versus the TFT screens on ppc's and the OS isn't optimized for the Xscale processor but nonetheless nothing else fills the void and hits the spot like the mobile pro900.

5-0 out of 5 stars I found the answer!! The in-between-machine!!
I love this-- I hated carrying around a heavy laptop-- and I did not want to shell out the crazy amount of $$$ for a super light one-- because only the lightest would have been useful to me-- This is the answer-- Instant on and instantly into documents and off to work-- I've only had it a short time but its already proved incredibly useful, I've given up my notebook(actual paper spiral) that I used to haul around to meetings and though I was hesitant to give up my calendar I decided to pitch it within a few days!!!
Adressing the other reviewers negativity-- just cause he is an IT guy does not mean he knows what he is talking about!!! Syncing with my computer took just a few minutes-- It is like MAGIC
Thanks NEC!

2-0 out of 5 stars More Hype than truth
I really wanted a more powerful Jornada 720 which is sort of the claim that NEC puts on this product. They keyboard is pretty good and some parts of the design like the placement of the CF slot and the PC Card are perfect. However, this is not exactly a small form factor like the Jornada it is about the size of a Fujitsu P1120 or a Avertec P. Weight wise it is about .5lb from the the P1120 and 2lbs from the Avertec. A good part is that it does have the ability to instantly turn on but the screen is terrible. In fact probably the worst screen of any PDA / Laptop I have seen. It is all washed out. I wanted this so that I could throw it in a Gym bag and if needed instantly turn it on and trade stocks through a TMobile Aircard. I found that the syncing with ActiveSync 3.7 was terrible, sometimes it would work other times it would fail on WinNT2000K and with XP Pro it was a nightmare. Part of the NEC 900 that is rotten is the OS. THe HPC 2000 is just plain buggy. The AirCard software would die while it works on a PDA and over 6 laptops and tablets.

Pros:
+ Turns on fast
+ CPU is definately faster than Jornada like 4 times as fast
+ CF/PCMCIA slot are position nicely and takes both I/II
+ Keyboard excellent

COns:
+ Too big just isn't small enough to be like a Jornada and too small to be like a P1120 or Sony TR1 or JVC Interlink all of which are much more powerful
+ Screen is worst I have ever seen
+ Syncing/OS is out of date and difficult

Bottom line for the price it isn't too bad if you want something light to type on or run excel spreadsheets that will last 8 hours. They keyboard is awesome so if you have large fingers and need an ultra portable this is ok if you can get around the screen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great HPC Palmtop!
NEC did a good job with this one! With the improved battery life, the USB slave port, the flash ROM, OS, and the 400mhz processor NEC surely made a seller! Many people do not realize that this unit is not running Windows XP, so this unit can out speed most laptops with its operating system!

People need to actually give HPC devices an honest chance, and with the right expectations. They will not be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my NEC
The keyboard is amazing and I have never had any problem with this unit what so ever. I always have it in my backpack and I love the fact that CE allows you to turn it on and off instantly. I also use it for checking emails and some light surfing, although I rather surf on my laptop due to the small screen. I have never reset my NEC since I got it 4 months ago. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
I liked the PC version, but the handheld version is expensive, hard to use and not that much value. When compared to MS Streets and Maps it is not even in the same league. The Bluetooth feature is problematic and the tech support is poor.In both versions there seems to be a bug that introduces a position error of about 200 feet. This seems to be problem for both the hand held and PC editions. If this keeps up I expect DeLorme to be out of business within 2 years.Too bad---It has the potential to be world class.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are computer literate at all you'll love it.
This program is awesome!!!You install the software on your PC and choose how much you want to sync to your PDA.You can sync detailed maps or just highways and interstates. My wife works at a flower shop and sometimes delivers.Type in the address and it will take you their.
Syncing the the maps can be a little difficult the first time but I didn't even need to look at the instructions.I highly recomend this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Looking for a PDA map program????Keep looking.
Xmap version 1.3 keeps causing 'Fatal Errors' and 'Memory Chunk' errors on my m125 running PalmOS 4.0.1.Delorme states this may happen with routes but I'm only using it to see their 'Sample' map that came with the product.I loaded their downloadable fixed version 1.4 but it has the same result.
I live in the Dallas, Texas area and would like a map of Dallas and Fort Worth.Unfortunately, the program locks up my computer every time I try to create a map of that area.I then followed the procedure Delorme recommends to prevent so called 'other background software' from halting their product.Guess what? That procedure made no difference. The program usually locks up at more than 50% of creating the map.Once it got all the way to 84% before it halted. At that time, the file was well over 9 MB!!!I'm not sure I need THAT much data.I just want the streets.Rand McNally's Streetfinder does this same area in about 2MB but it has MAJOR DEFECTS also and I definitely don't recommend it (see my other review).
I have been using Mapopolis with some maps I downloaded a couple of years ago, but the price now is a little prohibitive since I need maps for spur of the moment travel somewhat infrequently and don't always have time or access to the web to download them.I can't afford to download maps for all places I MIGHT go.Mapopolis works perfectly, even with memory cards, and I recommend it if you can afford the maps.I guess I will continue to use my laptop until something better comes along.I write software. It is a shame I don't know more about map databases so I could develop my own program and tell these guys where to go.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not User Friendly
I have used the regular PC Versions of Street Atlas for years and love it. This software for a PDA need to be pulled from the market by Delorm before it gives all their software a bad name. They are trying to load too much secondary travel info into the PDA and not what is really needed. Which is easy to use maps or areas that can be easly loaded and navigated. Something like their Street Atlas for PC's Ver. 01. Who needs the names of hotels, places of interest, and eating establishments on a PDA. All you want to do is find out where you are and where you are going.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clarifications
It seemed a bit unclear, but this product WILL work on the Pocket PC, as well as possibly any other device, as long as it runs the Town Compass Data Viewer. For it to function, just create (it's probably already there) a 'Town Compass' folder on your Storage Card, then copy TC_WORLD BOOK '03.PDB from your CD's INSTALL folder to it. You should then be able to open up Town Compass and the "Palm Database" should be loaded. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Toshiba 755e
I bought this PDA two years ago.It has never synched well with either my laptop or my desktop.I always have to reset the PDA in order for it to synch. This didn't happen when it was new and Toshiba tells me it can only be my virus protection.I have also gone through three batteries.I was told today (3/1/05) that the battery is now $84 and that Toshiba no longer repairs PAs.Overall, very poor support from Toshiba.

1-0 out of 5 stars toshiba e755
Used product for 8 weeks before complete failure in the absence of any kind of misuse.Since use began only 4 weeks before end of warranty period, Toshiba offered not help, and no service options, even though I was willing to pay.Was told twice I would be called by Toshiba Customer relations, and wasn't.Pocket PC's not repaired at authorized Toshiba computer service centers in a 20 mile radius. The nature of the failure was a complete system freeze, and failure of both "soft" and "hard" reboots to fix. Screen ultimately blank, with fully charged battery.Truly a $500 paper weight. It is a bitter lesson: do not purchase Toshiba computer products, unless from a retailer that allows no questions asked unconditional return (not too many of those!)What's amazing is this type of failure has been described by reviewers of the previous model, AND the subsequent e805.Toshiba is not ready for prime time, and hasn't been for years. This suggest to me a deep structural problem in its engineering and management.

3-0 out of 5 stars very good... few small problems
the product is good and promising for a bussy user
but there are few problems :
1- No good support.
2- It frozes in two occasions, so I have to restart it again, and it is a very good practice to keep it sync everyday with your main computer.
3- it turned off by itself 6 times... that is really bad, because this ment that I have to re-sync with my computer, a process usually takes time and efford, and you wouldn't like it to happen SIX time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great product but..
This would be a really great product if it didnt continually need to be re-set. Its annoying because it resets for seemingly no reason at all, and I lose all my information, and then have to re-synch with Outlook, which defeats the whole point of having the unit. Im trying to find an answer from Tohiba, or to find out if I have the biggest lemon in the world

5-0 out of 5 stars exelent pda
I just picked one of these up for 300 bucks, and let me tell you that this is the best pda I have ever used. I had a ipaq 3760 which wore out, and I was fortunate enough to find one of these for a mere 300 bucks, compaired to the ipaq 1945 which is the best other product in this price range, the e755 wins hands down. It has both SD and CF slots, integrated wireless, and enough features to keep you on your heels for weeks. and now the biggest thing... the battery life is great! I can use this all day without recharging it or changing the battery. exelent buy on a exelent unit. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Just does not work; tech support non-existent
Installed twice from CD, but program is "unable to find" a critical file.On-line troubleshooting guide is a waste of time for this problem.Telephone tech support is only available M-F 8-5, and email support promises a two-day response but so far nothing after seven days. The only function in the program that works is the link to their web site.

1-0 out of 5 stars This software is GARBAGE!!!
This software got the one star only because I cannot give it a zero.

The main reason I spent $50 on this is for the phonebook transfer between my Outlook and my Motorola T730. I don't care about ringtones or calendar or whatever. I have a laptop and a PDA for that stuff. I want this to make it easier to do what a phone is supposed to do.

The import function is sub-standard in that there was all sorts of mis-read information after I read in my comma-delimited file from Outlook. Then I came to discover that only one phone number per entry is allowed! That, after it supposedly can read in several phone numbers into its database on the PC. That was the show stopper. It goes back to the store tomorrow.

Do NOT waste your time with this software!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Fully Realized
With just a little assistance from the help file and User Guide I was able to identify my phone (Motorola t720,) import my contacts from Outlook 2002 and transfer to my phone. Although seemingly successful, there were limitations. The transfer wiped out the phonebook on my SIM card but it didn't place any contacts there. The help file gives loose instructions to direct a contact from theDataPilot's phonebook manager on the PC to the SIM phonebook. I was unable to get this feature to work; the DataPilot's phonebook manager inevitably converted my changes and placed those contacts in the phone memory. The phonebook in the phone can store multiple numbers for a contact but the software's phonebook manager does not transfer more than one phone number per contact; though it will import up to 6 numbers from Outlook?

The calendar transfer was more successful. I was pleased with that function.

I'll investigate Motorola's pricier option... If they provide the functionality I'm looking for, I'll go for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Huge time saver
This product is owesome. Punching all the numbers by hand would have taken me hours, but instead it was a matter of seconds. Internet dial up is very convenient when I am on a business trip or out for the weekend.
Ring tone editor is not the neatest thing, but I guess is only Motorola that forces you to manually punch the ring tones. At least, the software converts the file for manual entry. That's a plus.

1-0 out of 5 stars Really bad software
I bought this product and the truth was dissapointing, I have a Motorola V60i which I could synchronize without problem, except because at the time of seeing I telephone of the directory one because they appear rare things. Now as far as the part of RINGTONES, because in my I telephone I must enter them of manually, which is too boring, but nonsingle that, if not that when reproducing them in my cellular one is listened to any thing. The truth is a bad item, I do not recommend for anything this software.
Be carefull. ... Read more
