4-0 out of 5 stars Classic game for your PDA
This is great! A little downers but it's great!
like cant save or install in your storge room.
and have to use your d-pad and 4-other buttons.
and if they'll make more doom games.

2-0 out of 5 stars Oh man....
Doom was a difficult enough game with the keyboard, but on your PDA this game is just plain hard. It's just too hard to play with a PDA D-Pad and have any success at all. This was totally not the game for me and I shouldn't have bought it.Honestly, FPS is not the thing you want on your PDA.The better choice would be something like Simcity 2000 or that Everquest Game.Something that is primarily played with the stylus because hammering your D-Pad with a game like this will ruin it forever. No sense in damaging your PDA.

2-0 out of 5 stars Doom Is What You Are In For
Like the previous review, I was very disappointed that you could not install the product to a storage card. I had to clean everything off the Pocket PC main memory and I got the program running, but my main memory is gone once loaded. I am still attempting to get it to work on a storage card, but with little success so far.

1-0 out of 5 stars DOOM
Warning! This program will NOT let you install it to a storage card--you MUST install it to your main device. AND although the box says the program takes 8MB --it in fact takes 15MB of storage AND 11 MB of RAM to work-- so if you have 32MB you are DEAD! This game takes 26MB !!!!! I never got it to work--the box is entirely misleading and WRONG. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!! I am so excited Doom came out. I remember when I was a little kid sitting on my dad's lap shooting while my dad steered. This is simply the best classic...non stop fun and u can play it for hours...no flaws no nuthin....just pure fun!!!!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy-Junk
This is a collection of shareware for mainly outdated Pocket PC's. The software will not run under Windows Pocket PC 2003. Amazon should be ashamed for selling this kind of junk as their description of the product is very sparse.

1-0 out of 5 stars Use caution with any product from this vendor!
If you have not read the other reviews for Handango products, do so before you buy, as I wish I did. They have an iron clad return policy for defective or deceptive software, which they will be happy to share with you after you buy, and that is you bought it, you own it. There is no person to talk to on the phone when you try to reason with the company, and many of these products are nothing more than advertising for the web site based software. Not reccomended ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for all types of eating plans!
This is the best of all the program I've tried for my Palm. It keeps track of water intake, has a fully customizable food database, and calculates your energy output through daily life and exercise. I've lost over 40 lbs in the last 4 months.

I'm on Atkins, and this is perfect for helping me keep track of what I need. Others on WW, wanting to maintain a certain food balance, or trying to eat according to the U.S. gov't recommendations will find this just as helpful.

I love that it tracks the water intake as well. I try to drink a gallon of water a day, and I don't have to rely on my memory to keep on track.

I've had no problems with it, and highly recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Losing Weight
This is a great weight loss program. It lets me track my food intake and has a hugh data base of foods. With the Windows desk top program I can really see what's going on. The program is easy to use and the best part is that it's with me always in my Palm IIIc with me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lost 10 lbs already. It works!
This program was recommended by my brother who is a physician.I started using it on my Sony PDA. It is pretty neat. It has a decent food database. It basically helps you track input vs output of calories. You set up a goal to run a calorie deficit to lose so many pounds over so much time.It makes you much more aware of what you are eating and how many calories goes along with it.I downloaded the calorieking.com food database as a supplement to add foods. What i like best is that when you exercise it helps you calculate the calories you consumed, so you get to eat more that day! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars SimCity in Your Pocket
The game is a faithful reproduction of the PC version of SC2K.All functionality is present, even if a bit more cumbersome to access on the smaller screen.Everything from the opening music, to the newspaper stories, all the way up to the Arcos is included.

One word of caution to prospective buyers...thus far I have been unable to find a way to multitask while playing this game (played on a Toshiba e310).While the game is running, the ability to access other PDA functions seems to be disabled.

That said, SimCity fans will not be disappointed. The graphics are very sharp and the interface is quite friendly (even if a little different from the PC version).

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent game but difficult to play
I have played this game for a couple of weeks now and it is still enjoyable. I understood how to play with the excellent manual but it is too large to print and only comes in the Adobe Acrobat Reader. There is no tutorial, but the game was easy to get the hang of. It takes awhile to build the city that you were hoping to build but when you finish the project, it is fun to keep your city going for many years. You can select many different disasters that can happen to your city so that you're not always bored waiting for the money to rack up. Overall, this is the best game I have played for the pocket pc; seriously. ... Read more

  • Easy translation to and from English
  • Includes 20 different languages

Reviews (1)

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall Good
Ok I searched a bunch of translators for my trip to Europe and found this one to be the best.

Don't expect to be speaking the language or translating the bible into Romanian.

It is good if you have a background in a language and need something to help out your vocabulary. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to find the word you are looking for and translate it into whatever language you desire.

More popular languages or those more broadly spoken have a much larger volume of words.Overall if you are traveling to Europe or parts of Asia it would be difficult to find a word you could not translate.I wish I had this when I was in school for both my spanish and german classes.

Cons:You don't transfer all 20+ languages onto your handheld, rather you pick which ones you want.I selected about 8 but I still have plenty of memory to bring a few more.Rare languages will only have basic words so don't expect too much. Also no dirty words translated.

Pros:Hey if you are in a science class this is a MUST.I was a science major and the latin translation would have helped out a ton since most biology/anatomy is labeled in latin. If you are traveling this is nice to have when looking at a menu and making sure you aren't ordering sheep balls or something. Its quick to switch from german to english to english to french. Its like having a pocket translation book for 20 languages in one dictionary. All words come with brief (and i mean like 3 or 4 words) defintion.

Overall this product does just what it says.I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the CD is having problems now after 2 months. It may just be mine or a scratch I accidentally did, but whatever the case I can't add greek which I wanted. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So cool...
I ordered the h1940 on Amazon with free shipping and it arrived the next day! (The website said it will take 5-9 business days...). I've had it for 3 weeks now, and I must say this is quite a piece. I shopped around in stores, and this was the smallest handheld device on the market. It works great with my desktop PC, and keeps me very organized. Now that I'm so organized, I don't know what to do with all this free time I discovered I have, so I'm here writing reviews...

It doesn't come with a case or a cover, so you'll have to find one or risk damaging your display screen. I got the Belkin leather case designed for this model for $11. If you're interested in upgrading to Wi-fi, you can get the SD (Secure Digital) Wi-Fi card for about $90-100.

Update: I'm reducing the ratings to 4 stars because of the following: I mentioned earlier that you can go wifi by adding an SD wifi card for $90. I discovered later that the iPAQ H4155 already has built-in wifi and it only cost $400. In addition the H4155 has a 400mhz processor. If you are interested in wifi connectivity I would recommend you buy the H4155 instead of this one. I wanted to save money so I obstained from the h4155, but now I wish I had bought that one instead of this one. Not that this pocket PC isn't good, in fact it's great. But if you want wifi this isn't the right choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Machine in a Tiny Package
Had the 1940 but, with the addition of integrated Bluetooth wireless communication and a faster processor, the h1940 is what I really needed. So much power in a machine that weighs just 4.37 ounces and is very small (4.46 x 2.75 x 0.5 in). Also like the upgrade to Microsoft® Windows® Pocket PC 2003 Professional that is included. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Sony CLIE PEG-TJ35/U from Tech for Less
I recently returned my reboxed Sony CLIE PEG-TJ35/U from Tech for Less.PalmOS 5.1 caused some of my repair tracking programs to not work so I returned it within four days.Tech for Less charges a 20% restocking fee; fair enough but I asked to defer that until I can research which older Palm OS will work.

It seems that PalmOS 4.1 works with my program but now Tech For Less says that I had to take store credit at the time so no deal on credit the $19 that they charged for restocking fee towards a older Sony Clie PEG-T665C.

Oh well, they loose and another seller on Amazon .com got my business.

3-0 out of 5 stars I wish this could be a better review...
I bought my TJ35 about 6 months ago.As others here have said, I am a true Sony fanatic.I researched carefully before choosing this item, and felt as though I got the best PDA for my money.Considering I use my PDA about 4 hours a day, that is saying a lot!

Let me say that I love the screen of this unit.It hardly scratches, is crystal clear, and the picture is very sharp. The software bundle is very robust. The flip cover is cheesy and the telescope stylus drove me nuts, however!

IMPORTANT: The batter will last a long time for any PDA if you do this one important thing: in the Prefs general section, look for the item labled "beam receive" and turn it off.I think it is under the general section, but I'm not positive. This will vastly improve your battery life!!!

All worked well until about 45 days later when the unit suddenly stopped hot synching and charging.I mean, I literally hot synched the unit, installed another program 10 minutes later, and nothing would work.I tried everything I knew, but couldn't get it to work.As I built the three computers in my house and have an IT degree, I feel that I did an extensive amount of troubleshooting.I called the company and had to go though the "Did you reboot your computer" steps with the person for 45 minutes just to get a ticket to send the product back. Then I had to wait 17 days for Sony to send the item back to me.

This is where it gets interesting. They determined that they couldn't fix my brand new device and sent me a refurbished model.I called up the company to complain, stating that I didn't want someone else's rejected model, I wanted a new one like I sent them.Especially with all the backlight problems the model has had.I was assured that the model sent to me had no backlight issues.

Wrong.Less than 30 days later, the backlight goes out.I call up customer service again, demanding that I receive a new model, since this is the second defective one I've received. No go.I told them I didn't want to go without a PDA for three weeks every two months.I was told by a supervisor that he didn't care how long I had to go without my device.

After more than 25 phone calls to Sony Customer support, I finally received a service return box in the mail. And then another. And then another. With three different return authorization numbers. These boxes came the week I moved, so of course I didn't have time to send the item off then. And after that, I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with a significant long-term condition that has left me barely able to leave the house. So now I will send the PDA and the three authorization forms to Sony and see what they will do.Probably nothing, because it's obvious that the company cares little for the insignificant hard-working customers who shell out two week's worth of grocery money for their product.

Who knows, maybe next Christmas one of my family members will buy me a Tungsten!

1-0 out of 5 stars Backlight Hell
The old saying "misery likes compay" has never been more true.I'm somewhat comforted by reading about others who have also expressed extreme frustration over the backlight issue with this PDA.Frankly, I loved it.It is smaller than my first PDA (a Handspring Visor) and had an awesome screen. It works like a charm with Outlook at work.A real nice machine. Then the backlight went out.And they fixed it.Then it went out again. And they fixed it.Then the light went out.And they aren't returning my e-mails.I'm officially done with Sony.I should have gone wth my gut that said up front, "don't buy a Sony product" but the guy at Best Buy assured me that my past bad experiences with Sony products were history.Live and learn.Go with your gut.Don't buy Sony.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my needs.
I've had this PDA for 2 months, and have resisted writing an early review such as "I just got this thing yesterday and it's sweet!".

I wanted a Palm based PDA that could play MP3's and had no camera. Software is not an issue for me since I can download and install whatever I want so I won't address that here, suffice to say that it does what I need it to - manage contacts, appointments, play MP3's.

Build quality is generally very good. The slider button at the side (which I is the only one I find myself using) feels very solid. My only complaint with the build is the roller in the center - it's made of light plastic which seems incongruous with the metal area at the side. It should be heavier to the touch. The wand could be bigger - people with large hands might find it awkward to use.

The screen is not extremely bright, but bright enough - no complaints. Battery life is very good, I haven't charged mine in 3 weeks and have used it a little bit every day.

My main complaint would be the lack of cradle, but I paid $140 for mine at CDW, so for the price it's no big deal - I can always buy one later.

3-0 out of 5 stars Adequate but flawed
I have used many pocket PCs over the years and regularly upgrade them. This is my first Sony and there are a couple of things about this I like. It's nice and small. It has a "hold" button that lets you listen without the screen being on.

However, there are several very annoying things about this model:
- the cover is flimsy, as others have commented it lasted days before busting. This is annoying (what were they thinking?) but not that serious
- hotsync frequently turns itself on in my bag (I think because the on button can be knocked on). This wastes battery and that's important because the battery does not last long because
- there is no option to dim the screen for different usage situations (which saves power). This is a sensible feature of IPAQs that Sony have missed out.
- software other companies throw in for free (like simple games and cut down versions of office) are items you have to buy seperately. There are games loaded, but they are evaluation copies which expire.
- Because the battery runs down quickly, you need two power cables (for home and office). These are UNECESSARILY expensive and the part that attaches to the unit is flimsy. You cannot buy or plug a seperate power cable into the unit, it comes with the syncing cable. As you tend throw this kind of stuff into a suitcase - the fliminess is quickly apparent. I am on my 3rd.

SO, add another US$60 for power cables, plus say another $40 to get software others throw in free, and you have something more like the real price of the unit.

This is dissapointing from a company that prides itself on design and knowing consumers. They have not thought about how people will actually use it.I can see why they are giving up manufacturing these.

Amazon.com Product Description

The fate of humankind lies in the palm of your hand, as you battle Jupiter's Red Galaxy Knights to save Earth and its colonies from certain destruction. Metalion is a 3-D shooting game for the Pocket PC that puts you in command of three unique fighters, called Metalions. At your command are the Vulcan 800, equipped with a turbo hyper-booster engine, high-speed missile launcher, and plasma laser cannon; the Gigant 200, able to carry special weapons like the TR-220 Smart Bomb; and the Gaia 100, equipped with silicon alloy armor, a full-range Spectrum Bomb, and more.

The Metalion storyline begins early in the 24th century, when overpopulation and lack of resources force the people of Earth to terraform, or transform uninhabitable planets into ones that can sustain human life. Over a period of 150 years, Mars, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter are colonized by Earth. But when the atmosphere and environment of Jupiter begin to deteriorate, Jupiter's inhabitants rebel against the Earth colonies. Jupiter forms an army--the Red Galaxy Knights--and declares its independence. Earth leaders form the Universal Federation Corps. Jupiter attacks Earth, and millions of lives are lost. In response, Earth declares war on Jupiter.

Now, four grueling years later, a new weapon called the Metalion is born. Designed specifically for interplanetary travel and battle, this robotic weapon, piloted by a human, is Earth's only hope. That's where you come in. You're a Metalion pilot, and it's your mission to succeed! With intense colors, big sound, dynamic stages, and three levels, you earn points by eliminating the enemy. But beware--as the difficulty increases, the bullets fly faster and faster. ... Read more
