I've also had mine for about 2 years...
I have had very few problems with my 1935.It needs the occasional soft reset, but that may be attributed to the PIM and Today plug-in I downloaded.The screen on mine has stayed in great shape, and I let my 4 year old "draw" in the notes area!!(And, yes, she has dropped it without the screen shattering!)Would recommend to anyone who needs a great organizer without wireless capability.

I've been using mine for a couple of years now
No problems with it. I've dropped it several times, with and without its case on, and nothing has broken. I use it every day, and didn't use a screen protector for about 8 months.

It's not the best ipaq on the market but it looks and feels great. I guess if I wanted to play action games on my PDA I might prefer a more potent model, but it covers all my necessities, which are to write (using TextMaker), read eBooks, store information and photographs, and play music and movies. I certainly don't feel the need to upgrade because I have yet to find Pocket PC software it can't deal with.

Until Microsoft or life's accidents force me to, I will not buy a more powerful model.

But I do wonder what on earth people do to theirs to break them. No PDA review sites or articles refer to unusually weak screens on this model, and reports of cracked ones are almost exclusively found at Amazon.

screen cracks
I was given this as a Christmas gift Dec 2003.About 4 or 5 months later, I pulled it out of the case to use it one day & the screen was cracked (about an inch above the bottom).It was not dropped; it was kept in the case because I did not use it on a daily basis. I took it to a Best Buy store since it was purchased through them.The tech said he had never seen a crack like it & that it was not an intentional crack (I believe he said it was not a "tension" crack).However, they will not cover the damage.Best Buys says it is HP's problem.HP says it is Best Buy's problem.So--I am stuck with a $300 piece of junk that no one will replace.Oh, HP will replace the screen for $200.It's probably not even worth that anymore.The sad thing is, my husband even purchased the service plan for it, but it does not cover screens---IMAGINE THAT!!!!

BB did send it off to "check it out" & it is in worse condition than when I took it in.I could at least view my contacts & other programs.I could even use the keyboard (above the crack).The problem was only below the crack. When I used the stylus on the keyboard, it would not type the letter I was touching. Now I can't sync the info stored on it to my computer or do anything but turn it on.No one seems to care--good customer service, huh?

Don't buy this IPAQ. The screen breaks for no reason
Look at all the reviews here. You'll find out that a large precentage of them is saying "good product, until the screen cracked for no reason". Same here. One day I found the screen bleeding from the top left corner. This was about 4 months after I got it (90 days warranty, thank you very much). This IPAQ was hardly even used.

Save yourself. Don't buy this product. Get a Palm (had one for 3 years before this Ipaq, never had an issue with it).

It's nice while it lasts, but...
The four months I had this in working condition, it worked wonderfully well.I never had any problem with it.Unfortunately, that wasn't to last.

I had it on its charger while I was working and next think I know, there's a crack in the glass about an inch up from the bottom of the screen.I had never dropped this PDA, I was always very careful while using it.There was no reason for this to happen, and it did so without any outside interference.

And they really get you coming and going on this one.A replacement LCD screen with glass top (you can not buy the glass top alone for this model) is almost $200.That's about what the PDA costs in the first place!

Since this happened to me, I have seen where several other people have complained of the exact same thing happening to them.This is obviously a product default, and I would never recommend that anyone buy this model.I can't vouch for any of the other HP models, but this one is a definite waste of money.Don't take the chance. ... Good software, bad support
The features of the software are great.For people who make extended use of Outlook categories and subfolders, being able to carry those into the Palm is invaluable.

Support, though, is lousy.I had occasion to try when I started getting an "unexpected error" on synching my contacts which corrupted by home PC's Outlook contacts.The access to email support is hidden in web pages, only showing up once the user has browsed limited and un-helpful FAQs.I never was able to find a telephone number for support.And, despite claims on that response should be forthcoming by next business day, I've been waiting a week now with no response.

Best outlook companion
This is the best outlook companion I have seen.
It allows you to seemlessly integrate with ALL outlook's contact fields. All your tasks are kept in the same categories (even non-standard ones). Most important long notes are not truncated. Attachments in e-mail can be opened in Documents to go.

Okay Desktop, poor PDA
This product is okay when used as a reference tool on your desktop computer.However, to reiterate and reinforce other reviews it is misleading and a poor tool for your PDA.You are only allowed to save static maps to your PDA.Once the map is on your PDA you can not zoom or view street names, which makes the product highly useless on your portable device.I give the product one star only because it is usefull when used on the desktop computer.Since it's target audience seems to be the PDA user the company misrepresents the usefullness of the product on the PDA.I am very displeased.I highly recommend not purchasing this product if you intend to use it on you PDA as it is purely junk in that respect.

Absolutely worthless
This software would have been a marvel twenty-five years ago.I couldn't return my copy fast enough.The details that they say are downloadable from the web are not there.Rather than Streets Maps & Vacation Planner buy a good old fashioned paper map.It is far better.

Useless -- maps static and at least 5 years old
Not only are the maps not interactive on the PDA, as other reviewers have pointed out, but I found the maps of the South Bay to be at least five years old.A major section of Highway 85 that was completed over five years ago is not shown on the map.

A close inspection of the product packaging does refer to "static" maps (maybe they mean static in time as well -- locked in at 1997!); however, I feel that the packaging is deliberately misleading so that the buyer can easily get the impression that these maps are interactive on a PDA.In any event, the fact that such old and obsolete maps were used is inexcusable.

Not worth it
This software seems like it was designed more for your desktop than your palm.On your desktop, it is a fully interactive map of the U.S. But you can only load a single still picture on to your palm.No zooming, no address finder, nothing!!!If you're looking for interactive map software for your palm, stay away. But not bad for your desktop.

Useless, only creates fixed images on Palm
This product uses a simple interface on the PC to outline an area for which a map is to be generated.An image, and nothing else, is downloaded to the Palm.There is no searching by street, zooming, or anything else on the Palm.

Worse still, the image capture on the PC won't display individual streets except at the few highest zooms and then the area is quite small.So, either the map on the Palm is uselessly small (a square mile or so) or it doesn't actually contain city streets.Either way, as a map, it's useless.

In fairness to the product, it tries to be a trip planner more than a map.In that role, it's not quite as bad.The result is a sequence of maps, each at an appropriate zoom level.Even so, it's awkward to create and download separate maps for one trip.

Okay, it's cheap.I don't expect full features.But, this product just isn't usable. ... Read more
