2-0 out of 5 stars Not working upon install
Just installed this on Windows XP today. It seemed to install & run, but when it finished going through its rather lengthy procedure (colors changing on monitor white/black/R,G,B) I received a runtime error with report to send to Microsoft. Tried restarting/ unplugging/ etc. but still doesn't work. Their web site had no real useful info on debugging or common error info. It also states they're closed until the first of the year, so we'll have to wait a week+ to see if it really works; I'll pass on giving my final rating for now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Deal!
I am an amatuer photographer, and painter. And I have always had trouble producing consistent colors and contrast with images.I adjusted my monitor all the time, but the images would look different on other monitors.I really wanted to get the Pantone Sypder, but couldn't afford it.When I saw ColorPlus and the price I got it right away.Let me just say that after installing the software (which was easy) and hooking up the hardware (easy too) and then going through the on screen guide (which took maybe 10 minutes), I noticed a HUGE difference in my pictures. At first I really didn't notice anything, until I opened some pictures of people. You can see excellent flesh tones. Before it was like looking through a blurry glass, now pictures of people are sharp and clear.Plus my video games are much clearer as well.

Bottom line: If you do lots of graphics work and are on a budget this is a must have. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Look at the dimensions of htis bag before you order
I purchased this along with a Sony DCRHC21.This Carry case was listed as an accesory so I expected it to be appropriately sized (as other Sony cases I've purchased fit like a glove).Thiscase is entirely too large to hold a miniDV camcorder. The camcorder rattles around inside it.If you have extra attachments and lenses maybe you might need this one.Otherwise I suggest you look at the Product Specifications, note the dimensions and then look at your camcorder's size. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars No Ready For Prime Time
I thoroughly tested the LiteShow and returned it.The color in high res is excellent. It is slow and has considerable latency. In the User's Guide they state it's not suitable for DVDs.Surprise, you won't find that on the web site. They claim smooth animation and transitions in PowerPoint. No Way. PowerPoint animations were jerky. It was easy to get ahead of the projector so you didn't know where you were unless you look at the screen. It took 49 seconds to go through my 38 slides on the computer, the same took 2 minutes and 43 seconds on the LiteShow.I verified that I was communicating from 15 feet away at 11 mbps.

2-0 out of 5 stars If I were you, I would wait for better technology
We bought the LiteShow in hopes of converting our Executive conference room from a wired cluster for presentations, to a wireless, professional setup. We got halfway there. The LiteShow adapter is compatible with wireless standard B, and is only available for Ad-Hoc networks. Therefore, if you want to give a presentation with your laptop wirelessly, you cannot wireless connect to your network and the projector at the same time. (Corporate wireless is setup for Infrastructure) This inconvience does not allow presentations to surf the web or download items from your network, unless you purchase a second network card for the laptop. We even tried the multi-channel network adapter cards, which cannot toggle between infrastructure and Ad-hoc, so you lose out there as well.

On top of all the corporate wireless frustrations, there is a noticable delay that for the money you pay for the adapter is unacceptable. If I were you, I would wait at least 6 months for a wireless G, infrastructure based card. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Happy since July 13, 2004
I bought this monitor almost a year ago and it is still going strong. I am the computer tech for a non-profit agency that provides a computer lab for the public. I was so happy with the 793DF that I recommended my company replace their old monitors at work with this same model.
We had one bad monitor (out of 9 total) shipped to us but Amazon had a replacement there within a week, no problem!
They have been in service for over 6 months now with a great picture on all of them. They are used by the general public daily and go through the normal use/abuse that people put them through.
I bought it because the old monitor at work that has been on my desktop is a Samsung and after 6 years is still ticking!
    Samsung Rocks!
    Thanks Amazon!

1-0 out of 5 stars This Monitor Is NOT a Good Purchase!
I purchased this monitor in Dec. 2004 from a Amazon, which did it's job well. Delivery was on time. I put the monitor to use and kept my old monitor which was 10 years old in a box. I used this new monitor, but after about a month it seemed that I was able to discern the refreshing of the screen. Then in April of 2005, the screen of the new monitor began to have horizonal lines in brown flashing across the screen, a few, then more, then it overwhelmed my screen. I called the Samsung tech help. I was told to clean all of my pc's cards, clean the RAM, take my pc all apart. I did clean out the inside of the pc with air, but didn't do the other. I then turned the pc on, and within 4 hours the lines began to reappear. Then the entire screen went into a horizonal blurring of lines. I shut it down, quickly. And put my old monitor back in service, to make sure that it wasn't the new monitor. Upon restarting my pc, I noticed that my RAM was missing 64 MB's...a stick had burn up! I had to pull the bad stick of RAM out. And then reboot. I now have less RAM, and I'm using my old monitor now for about 10 days with no PROBLEM!

Samsung tech gave me an RMA and I had to put $150 onto my credit card so that they would send me a, what I thought should be a new replacement monitor. Now, sitting on my table is the bad monitor in the box that they sent the replacement monitor in, the GREEN Label in place so that they will accept it back! And on the box was the words: REFURBISHED! They sent me a refurb monitor that has a mfr date of July '04 on it!!!! I'm afraid to even hook it up! I feel that I've been swindled! I am using my old monitor and the replacement unit will become a dust collector. If I hook up the refurb it will probably burn up my pc, my office and my business! To much to risk!

I suppose the old addage, if it ain't broke don't fix it should have been adhered to by me.

I'm out my purchase price for the monitor, I had to pay the shipping back to Samsung of the bad monitor to the tune of $30! I will have to hope that they don't run off with the credit card $150 as well, but if they do, I would be out more than $350!!!

Bad service from Samsung all around.

I will never, ever purchase anything with that name on it! ... Read more

    50. Sony DSC-P50 Cyber-shot 2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)
    by Sony
    list price: $399.99
(price subject to change: see help)
    Asin: B00005I9PF

    Sales Rank: 3498
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France | Japan

    Amazon.com Product Description

Designed to be an affordable take-anywhere replacement for your film point-and-shoot, Sony's DSC-P50 combines compact dimensions with a high-performance 2-megapixel sensor and flexible power options.

    Optics and Resolution

The DSC-P50's 2-megapixel CCD image sensor captures enough detail for sharp prints at sizes up to 8 by 10 inches. For the typical family photographer, 2 megapixels is a great balance between price and performance. If you're looking for a model with more resolution (so you can make even larger prints or crop your images and still have plenty of detail left for prints), Sony's DSC-P5 and DSC-P71 are similar models with 3-megapixel sensors.

A 3x optical zoom lens (41-123mm equivalent) helps you to capture exactly the picture you want, and an additional 2x digital zoom (6x total) further magnifies your image. Remember, however, that digital zoom tends to reduce the sharpness and detail of your image, so it's best used sparingly. In low-light situations (a particular weakness for many digital cameras), a focus-assist lamp sends out a small patterned beam to help the camera accurately determine distance.

To compose your images, either use the traditional camera viewfinder or the 1.5-inch LCD display (which is also used to review the shots you've taken). Having both types of viewfinders offers the best of both worlds: if you're used to using a film camera or want to conserve battery life, use the viewfinder. If you want to see exactly the picture you'll be capturing, use the LCD display.

    More Features

The P50 is designed to be a point-and-shoot model, but more adventurous photographers will appreciate adjustable ISO and white-balance settings, exposure compensation, normal and spot metering, and the ability to shoot black-and-white, sepia, solarized, and negative images.

    Power

When it comes to power, some photographers like cameras that use readily available AA batteries, while others prefer the superior capacity of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries specifically designed for a digital camera. The P50 provides both options, using either two AA batteries (included) or an optional NP-FS11 InfoLithium battery. The choice is yours--for occasional users, a set of disposable lithium AA batteries is the most affordable choice, offering a long shelf life and high capacity. For more frequent users, either the InfoLithium setup or a set of rechargeable high-capacity NiMH batteries is recommended. The InfoLithium setup offers the added advantage of estimating remaining battery life in minutes and displaying this on-screen. No matter which setup you choose, the wide availability of AA batteries ensures that missing a once-in-a-lifetime shot due to dead batteries won't be an issue.

    Movie Mode

In movie mode, the camera captures silent video clips. Most digital cameras' movie modes are limited to 15- or 30-second clips, but the P50 can keep shooting until you've filled the memory card. The limited resolution of your movies guarantees that this feature won't replace your camcorder, but it's perfect for when you just want to capture a quick movie and e-mail it to a friend or relative.

    Storage and Transfer

Images are stored on Memory Sticks, Sony's proprietary memory-card format. The included 4 MB stick holds approximately seven images at the camera's default settings. Memory Sticks are reusable, but if you tend to take more than seven images per outing, then you'll want a bigger card. A 64 MB stick is a great size for this camera, storing around 100 images. To transfer images to your computer, simply attach the included USB cable between your PC and your camera. Your computer should automatically recognize your camera and let you move the pictures to your hard drive. If you own a Sony desktop or laptop, your computer may already have a built-in Memory Stick reader.

    Size

At 5 by 2.4 by 2.1 inches and 9 ounces, the P50 is not Sony's smallest digital camera, but it's still quite compact and portable.

    Contents and Recommended Accessories

The package includes the DSC-P50 camera, two AA batteries, video and USB cables, wrist strap, 4 MB Memory Stick, and software on CD.

Everything you need to get started is included in the box, but we recommend these accessories to make the most of your camera: a carrying case, a higher-capacity memory stick, and an InfoLithium battery setup or set of rechargeable size AA batteries. Compatible accessories for this camera are listed near the top of this page. --Shane Burnett

    Pros:

    • Unlimited movie mode lets you make video clips of any length
    • Flexible power options let you choose the best battery solution for your needs
    • Point-and-shoot operation makes it easy for even beginners to get great results

    Cons:

    • Movie mode lacks sound

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera!
The one thing I have bad to say about my camera (a 1.3 megapixel - very similar looking to the above) is that the movies have no sound. However, I did download a great program and put together the photos, some of my movies and add some music and they make great gifts! :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Haunted by E:92:00 error
We love / loved this camera until the dreaded E:92:00 error popped up, making the camera unusable. We did buy the extended warranty from Best Buy but their extended warranty policy says that the camera can be out for 4 fixes for same problem, then they can, "at their discretion" replace the item. We have returned it for this problem 4 times, and they still didn't want to replace it. They have replaced all of the internal parts two times. Still they Said there was nothing wrong with the camera even though the E:92:00 error is all over the internet as a problem with this camera. Finally after telling them I had been without my camera for 50 days in the first 5 months of my daughter's life, someone took sympathy on me and we are getting a new camera. Hope Sony has fixed the problem.

3-0 out of 5 stars The E:92:00 error: A SOLUTION!
It seems that EVERYONE is having this error pop-up at some time or another using this camera.

Call $ony and they'll tell you to send it to them along with $139.00 and they'll fix it.

Well, don't do that. You can fix it for $0.10, and here's the reason it blinks that error and how to fix it:

The problem is the battery isn't making a good enough contact. After you put the battery in, place a dime on top of it and shut the battery door.

    My camera works fine now.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid 2 mp camera
I have owned the Sony p50 for over a year now. Overall, it is a solid entry level digital camera.

    Pros-
    (1) Easy to use - I was new to digital photography, and this was a very easy model to use.
    (2) Design / Size - A nice sized camera that feels substantial & not cheap in any way.
    (3) Good battery life with rechargeables - standard AA not recommended.
    (4) Very nice images - I have printed pics with a Canon i950, and they are very close in quality to a 35mm.
    Cons-
    (1) The included 4mb card is totally inadaquate.
    (2) Would have been nice to have the infolithium battery included.
    (3) Limited manual controls.

Overall, I have been very satisfied with this camera. I now am looking to buy a more advances 4-5 mp model, but this really fit my needs as a begining digital photographer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations although don't expect perfect pictures
This is a great digital camera. My comments are relative to what is/was the competition:
    Pluses:
    Sony memory card
-Cross compatability with other sony products. I hate to be forced into one brand but this is something that the competition really doesn't offer to the same extent and is certainly worth noting. (I can see my camera images on my sony clie by simply pluging the card in).
-Capacity upto 128Mb is huge (equivalent to 5-9 rolls of film) and highly useful/recommended (this upgrade will more than double the usefulness of the camera)
-Although there is a perception its pricey it really isn't. I haven't found a more cost effective media which isn't associated with a much inferior camera (unless you're looking for massive, >500Mb, storage capacity).
    Battery
-All digital cameras perform badly in this respect the good thing with the DSC model is that it can use standard battery sizes. I highly recommend buying 4+ AA rechargeable batteries. It'll mean you can not only take more photos but also take them with flash.

    minuses
Picture quality. Its actually fantastic although you should be aware of limitations
-Indoors (in fact anywhere where its not bright) you really need to use the flash. I recommend when you first use the camera to experiment with different orientations of the camera, because the flash is quite far from the lense and this will often causes unattractive shadows on walls.
-High zoom and moving subjects. A combination of the digital zoom (only at the high end, x6. At the low end optical zoom does a perfect job) and slow response to changes in focus depth give blurry images.

    Overall
The deal I got (camera plus discounted 128Mb extra memory card) would have great camera at twice the price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very handy addition to my camera bag
This small tripod has proved to be quite useful.First, because of its size, it is absolutely portable, fitting into the side pocket of camera bag.It has allowed me to setup stable shots even when visiting places where carrying a full-size tripod is not possible or at least not convenient.
I also use my digital video camera to shoot still photography of small electronic components. This mini-tripod has been wonderful for these shots, as it allows the camera to still be very close up to the subject and yet still mounted on a stable surface. And, trust me, when shooting such a small subject, any hand jitters show up every time.I definitely recommend this to anyone using digital cameras, whether video or still photography. It's a very handy piece of aluminum to have with you.

1-0 out of 5 stars hardware is fine, but software was disappointing
The package that I bought from Amazon included the AverMedia EZMaker DVD PCI card and a CD with the driver and the capture/editing application, called "neoDVDstandard version 4, 5, 1, 518 L000015" (I've never seen such a long version number).

The PCI card lacks component video inputs, but is otherwise quite satisfactory. I'd rate it at 9/10.

The software package, however, was quite a disappointment. I would rate it at 1.5/10, in part because of the following specific problems:

    1. There seems to be a huge difference between the "better" (middle-quality) and "best" (highest-quality) recording modes, both in terms of quality and file size. The "best" mode produces enormous files (more than 3 GBytes per hour of video). The "better" mode produces much smaller files, but at much lower quality. There really should be an intermediate quality level between these two modes.

    2. One can set the path to the Output File as many times as one likes, but the program does not remember this setting, i.e., one must specify it again every time the program runs. There should be an option that allows one to permanently set this output path.

    3. Regardless of what one specifies for the total capture time, the time shown under "Maximum Capture Time" doesn't change. This is confusing.

    4. When one is recording, there is no indication of elapsed time.

    5. It would be really handy if the documentation gave some guidelines for the relationship between file Video Quality setting and the size of the output file. For each Video Quality setting, there should be some simple relationship between the number of minutes of video and the typical output file size.

    6. When I click on the Tutorial button, it brings up my browser (Netscape Navigator 7.2) and I see a replica of the launcher interface with the text "Click on any module to begin". If I click on the Capture button, I then get a screen with 10 numbers in red circles. It looks as though clicking on these buttons is supposed to provide more information, but nothing happens when I click on them.

    7. After editing an MPEG file to trim out just the part that I wanted, I wanted to save the edited file to disk as another MPEG file, but it appears that there is no way to do this.

    8. During editing, it should be possible to speed up and slow down the playback. Without the ability to speed up the playback, it takes too long to find the chapter boundaries. Without the ability to slow down the playback (to less than real-time speed), one cannot accurately set the chapter markers.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent product
I am extremely pleased with this product. It works perfectly.the driver installed easily and the NeoDVD capture and create software worked fine, whereas my Nero software did not work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Straight to the point and gets the job done!
I am somewhat new to video capturing but I am very critical, I bought this product because of the price and for something to play around with while I waited for my Dazzle to arrive. Installation was easy for the hardware and software, although my first impression of the software NEO was "amateurish". When I got my Dazzle I was so frustrated, I have Movie star 5, pinnacle studios, Adobe premiere and more, but I was already spoiled by the "click and get to the point experience" and non error interruptions of AverMedia card and NEO software.

Now given to opportunity to compare with other products that give me such a hard time to start and end, I am now totally impressed with AverMedia with 5 stars. Out of all the "technical" software and hardware I have, I keep going back to Avermedia. I reccomend this product to anyone that just wants to turn your camcorder or VCR tapes into DVD, VCD, MPEG etc. It doesn't produce any less of quality on your DVD from the VCR tapes, what you see on your VCR tapes is what you get with a little more of fun editing additions. The sound capturing is excellent!!It has everything you need to fulfill your projects. Straight to the Point!! I am pleased!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a great product.
I have years of kids video's on VHS-C tapes.I wanted a product that I could convert these to DVD disks and this fit the bill.Installation was very easy. The software was very good and I did not need to read the manual to operate.I saw some negative comments about the software, but I have no complaints.I'm a technical person so I after a little experimentation I was able to control the DVD menu's to my precis liking and set the video quality and sound to the best possible settings.A not so technical person should be able to master this but will require some learning curve.

In the end it all comes down to quality. No sense spending your time doing something a getting poor results. The DVD's produced by this product are simply spectacular. The video and sound quality is superb. My entire collection is converted and we find ourselves watching the DVD movies (laughing and remembering) whereas we never watched them in the VHS-C format.Wonderful product and you can't beat the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Great shipping
Received in 2 days!!! I read some of the reviews and disagree with them in that I think the soft ware is great, worked just as advertised.Remember that you only get the quality that you have in the old tape. I have copied 5 VHS tapes so far and find the video edit and everything else works great.Just plug in an old tape from the VCR or analog camcoder and play around with it.Hint...when you delete film strip in the work area it dosn't really delete the file itself.Be prepared to mow the grass or something else when you burn to disk as it burns at 2K...very slow..I think the quality of the capture will determine at what speed it writes not the speed of your disk.So start with some chep 2K disks.Hopes this helps...
