1-0 out of 5 stars Rebate Scam - Buyer Beware
Purchased this back in January 2005 because of the 100 rebate offered at the time. Submitted the rebate straight away and per the website, it had been approved and sent by mid-March. It's now June and no rebate.

Other than this scam, the monitor is good. Just don't expect to get the rebate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, excellent price... period
The color and brightness are outstanding. It works well for DVD's, Cable and general computer use.I use this monitor about quite a lot, since I am a software developer I work/play and go to grad school all on this monitor. It is great for gaming and DVDs.I also use this monitor to watch cable with a tuner card (ATI AIW 9800 pro), it functions as a TV.

It is interesting how misleading and ill informed some of the other reviewers are,how can you blame the product for your ignorance?

As far as LCD monitors go you cannot beat this product for the quality and price.I paid $349 at CostCo the screen much brighter and has little to no glare off the screen.FYI this monitor is intended to be used with the DVI port.It works better with DVI than with VGA (like any monitor with a DVI port)....

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Monitor after much research
I bought this monitor from Amazon. I used the free super saver shipping for free. Delivery was estimated for about 11 days after purchase, but I received it TWO days after purchase, WOW. Kudos Amazon. Anyway, using a standard VGA connection the picture is great at native 1280x1024 rez, BUT MAKE SURE TO SET COLOR TO 16 bit in your display settings in windoze. I had mine set at 32bits and apparently the analog interpreter tries to compensate by blurring the text slightly. I havent tried 32bit color with DVI. I think that was what CNET experienced when they gave the monitor a bad review.
I have one pixel that stays very light magenta, it is invisible unless you get close. The stand is large enough to make the lcd stable. All in all, the monitor is great. Amazon was great. I saved a load of money over buying retail, and I got a great monitor for what the other online vendors sell absolute crap for, ie sceptre, dcl.
As good as any retail demo I saw, like sony, samsung, etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good digital monitor - watch out for rebate scam
Monitor is good, in fact Monitor is better than the 2 stars I gave it when used with DVI digital out. I especially like the dual analog and digital inputs. Analog input was a little fuzzy and I wondered whther it was a mistake to have purchased the LCD. Fortunately I had a Radeon 9600 card with digital out to install. Plugged in the card and fired up the computer with the digital DVI cable connected. The difference was like night and day. Fuzzy unclear image became a crisp, sharp and the colors stand out. Great digital out performance.
Sound control is poor. The monitor's sound volume is very loud at the lowest settings.

Now regarding the rebate, be careful and read everything. The Princeton scam is with the expiration date versus the "must be submitted in 14 days". They are in conflict so don't get caught by reading the "due by end of month" scam. The monitor took a few days to arrive coupled with the Christmas holiday season. By the time I filled out the form 15 days had passed since I had purchased product and Princeton denied the $100 rebate. B@$t@rd$! I won't be purchasing from them again, even if it not my money.

If you don't have a digital out from your video card forget this monitor. If you do and don't mind little control for the sound volume, go for it. If you really want the rebate, watchout cause Princeton is counting on you missing 2 week deadline. B@$t@rd$! Poor strategy for a struggling manufacturer to $#@#w its customers rather than provide good product and good service.

2-0 out of 5 stars BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I bought the Costco version and didn't need the speakers but the unit buzzes!

So I returned it and picked up another one. And it buzzes!

I called Princeton and they told me "it's a problem" and they are working on it. Guess I'll be returning this one too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent display for the money
The display can't be better for the money.A response to the previous review about 'a' dead pixel on his monitor: dead pixels are pretty common among any LCD displays. This is an issue that can't be illiminated until the consumers find out and complain to the manufacturers.BTW, Viewsonic offers 3 year warranty on this product. So rest assured...

3-0 out of 5 stars Excelent product but...
I just bought my viewsonic VA720 today. At home I plugged it in, it is very good looking and has a very sharp picture. At first the image was a little shaky and I couldn't understand why. Then I discovered the auto-adjust feature, which is very useful. I ran it and the weird lines disappeared. The only problem with the monitor is that it has a dead pixel. When the monitor shows a black screen the pixel shows up magenta. It really is an eye sore. I am going to take it back to the store tomorrow see if I can get it replaced. Everything is super, just for that lonesome pixel. If it weren't for that defect I would have given it a perfect 5.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sleek Design
Crisp and sharp images, slim and sleek design.Definetely compliments any computer system.Game play is great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
VERY impressed with this monitor. Outstanding resolution and color. By far and away the best at displaying text of any 17" I have looked at. I have yet to do video editing with this monitor, and Viewsonic doesn't provide a refresh rate for it, so I am a little nervous about that. But as someone who doesn't "game" and mostly uses this for graphics and text work, this is outstanding. My only gripe is that the screen bounces a little when I type, but I haven't seen a 17" that didn't . . . And although it isn't as handsome as the NEC or even the Sony, it's no eyesore. And the image blows those two away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty fantastic monitor
This is a nice piece of hardware. I brought it about two weeks ago to replace a HP Pavilion 15 inch monitor and I can honestly say I will never go back to it again. It had no dead pixels, and the image was clear and bright. I had to lower the contrast and brightness a lot to make it comfortable. It helps to know the option is there though.

Installation was easy. Just plug it in and turn on the computer - the Auto Image Adjust feature centers and sizes picture to fit the screen. It's good to have a recent video card too, otherwise it probably wouldn't work to its fullest potential. Unfortunately it doesn't have a digital connection, but analog works perfectly fine. You don't have to install the drivers if you don't want to, but if you do, go to ViewSonic's website and get the most current ones. Something was wrong with the ones on the CD.

As with any other LCD, the native resolution of this 17" is 1280x1024. If you jump from 800x600 it's quite a leap for the eyes, but in about a week or so you won't have any problems.

Now, about the important stuff...how well do programs run? Everything works and looks fantastic on this monitor. I can't stop watching DVDs on it. The movies are sharp and the colors look much livelier than before. Games run exceptionally well on it. I was worried about that before I purchased it. But it can support up to 75Hz refresh rate at its native resolution, so games run without any problems.

The text is very sharp too, but unless you use ClearType in Windows XP, it might be a little harder to read.

I have a few small gripes though. Sometimes it's annoying not to be able to control the hight of the monitor. Once you put it onyour desk, all you can do is tilt it back and forth, not up and down. It hasn't been an incovenience for me, but I can understand why someone would need to adjust height once in a while. Most LCD monitors allow that. On the other hand, it allows itself to be mounted on a wall, so it's really a matter of preference.

Another thing is that at really low resolutions, like 640x480 some of the picture gets cut off on top. The automatic image adjust feature should scale it to fit the screen. Nevertheless, it doesn't. It makes some games difficult to play. Certain EA Sports games have menus set in that resolution. For most applications and games, however, this doesn't present any problems.

If you dont want to read all that up there, here's a breakdown.

Pros:

1) Very sleek design, silver frame and black stand really compliment virtually any computer system.

2) Fantastic picture - bright, vivid colors make movies extremely enjoyable to watch. Sharp text makes it easy to read any kind of document.

3) Fast response for games with no noticeable blurring effects

Cons:

1) No height adjustment unless mounted

2) Problems displaying really low resolutions

3) No DVI connection

I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking to enhance their computing experience. It makes an amazing difference if you use your computer all the time, especially after years staring at a curved CRT. And...it's a ViewSonic. That in itself should speak volumes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent monitor, extremely good value!
I previously purchased a Samsung SyncMaster 710n 17" LCD Monitor from Amazon (via TigerDirect) and was not totally satisified with the image quality. Because of a tragic shortage of desk space (eaten up by hulking CRT monitors) I revisited LCD panels with this NEC device (again from TigerDirect, but ordered through Amazon).

The NEC is by far the superior product. It is equally bright, the colours are strong and clear, image rendering is excellent. Also, there is absolutely no subtle flickering or image jitter which I noticed with the Samsung. No matter how much I fiddled with that one, I could never get the image to be both rock-steady and totally clear. The NEC has never exhibited any such problem and worked excellently without any adjustment (other than the 'auto-setup' it went through), right out of the box.

I strongly recommend this monitor. It works extremely well, and it is not expensive. As a replacement for a CRT monitor, and perhaps in a bid to reclaim desk space, it is perfect. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bang for the buck
Lots of of room.Good image.Great gamers monitor.

I was worried about spending so much but am happy after so long as it doesn't break. My old 19" syncmaster 955df is still working so that's a good sign.

Had it about four months now.

1-0 out of 5 stars OMG Was I Ever Disappointed!!!!!!
I bought this monitor after an exhaustive search for a good flat panel turned up diddly squat.First few days were GREAT, numerous different jacks and options both for hook up and onscreen adjustment(s).But after awhile it started to develop curvy almost vibrating kind of lines in the screen, eminating from the cortners, sides, and center.Almost a wave effect. Most times you dont see it unless your on a high contrast or dominant backdrop such as whites, blues, etc.Its also extremely noticeable whenb playing World Of Warcraft specifically when your dead and you have all those whites and grays on the screen.Im forced to return it and try another one, but I am sure itll be more of the eventual same. When that happens, Ill be switching to BenQ's top notch FP231W flat panel display.STAY AWAY FROM THE 1100DF.ITS NOTHING BUT A PAIN IN THE ASS.......:O( ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This Great Monitor
This excellent monitor is very stylish and colors are astonishing. I had slight problem in the beginning where windows including text with smaller fonts on white background were hardly readable specilly colored text as in links of web pages. The brightness and contrast adjustments of monitor did not help to obtain perfect fonts with sharp edges (fonts where smudged and translucent).

When I was getting convinced that I got what I paid for, I realized that the source of the problem was not the Monitor but the graphic card. I have older NVIDIA GeForce2 video card. If the drivers are installed, a new tab appears in "Advanced" window of display setting that contains settings for Vibrance, Brightness, Contrast and Gamma corrections. These settings helped to perfectly adjust the HUE and Brightness of the display and fixing the sharpness of the pixels.

I love the superb quality and vivid colors of this monitor compare to my Dell ultra sharp monitor and I no longer miss my older ViewSonic monitor.

I highly recommend this monitor and give it 5 stars for quality of the display and smart design of buttons. There are separate buttons for brightness, contrast (most frequently used buttons) and main menu.

5-0 out of 5 stars super monitor, clear, fast, great buy
This monitor is a great LCD with DVI, crisp colors and fast response. The looks of the monitor are nice and I had ZERO dead pixels. However people should understand that when compared to good CRTs, LCDs quality is still inferior especially for the price. However for the size and the relative quality (it still looks great, just slightly faded next to my NEC 17" CRT -- but as good if not better than many higher priced, 19" LCDs).Keep that in mind, but you cannot go wrong with this LCD. I plan on buying a second. -- Be sure to get a DVI video card as soon as you can though to take full advantage of the monitor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 19'' LCD with DVI at 16 MS Response Time
Just arrived and tested. This is a great 19' LCD with DVI at 16MS Response Time. I am very satisfied with its color, and clearness. I cannot find one dead pixel on the large screen. Setup is quite simple and only took me seconds as a PC administrator in my company. In addition, I have to turn its brightness to less than 35% so that my eyes feel more comfortble. I think its 450:1 ratio is enough for me in terms of its great brightness. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it want to buy a second one.
Picture is very nice, clear, smooth, and bright.I certainly don't miss my old CRT.The stand it comes with is the best I've come across yet.It adjusts for hight, pan (left/right), and tilt(forward/back) without much effort and nothing to tighten/loosen to get it to stay put. It'll rotate 90 degrees as well but haven't found a use for that yet.I use mine for gaming, movies/tv, photo work, and regular BS.Much easier on the eyes and doesn't ghost when the action moves fast. While I would love it even more if it had a higher resolution that 1280x1040, I'll never go back to CRT's to get it.

No dead pixals yet (X fingers) but then again all LCD get them sooner or later. It's been in operation since Feb 2004.

1-0 out of 5 stars You can count on bad pixels
Since the beginning of the year, all monitors at the place where I work are being gradually replaced by Viewsonic VE710 units. It was my first experience using an LCD monitor on a daily basis, and after few weeks, I wanted to purchase one for myself. I decided on the model VP171B mostly for the DVI connector. After receiving it, I noticed bad pixels on the screen. I contacted Amazon and asked for a replacement. The new one arrived in three days (thank you Amazon, you rule!), and guess what? Bad pixels again.
I may not be the luckiest person but, what are the odds of getting two bad monitors in a row? The only explanation I can find is poor quality control. Even though I liked the design and functionality of the monitor, I cannot recommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars 5 months and it breaks..
I loved this monitor, it had beautiful color and resolution every thing that I need for working on video editing. That is until it just went black in the middle of my project due in three days! How could something held in such high respect be so lacking of quality.I took every step to ensure this monitor wouldn't burn out any time soon.It never sat on, never was left to burn the image, and always dusted and kept clean.

Honestly, just to be fair I am sure I got one out of 500 that break. However I have to pay shipping to get it to Viewsonic for warranty repair/replacement; that is not good service. Then after three seperate emails I am not told how long it will take to get it back and that if I want an express exchange to get one immediately, I am told they will have to put an authorization on my card for the retail amount of the monitor.

Still no word from them on return time estimate.I would have to fear what the other person says about warranty service and hope that the $3000 computer I used this with doesn't sit and waste in the time that it will take to be back at work again.

We shall see, however I would not recommend this monitor nor would I buy another after my initial experience with it and the company.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best 17" LCD Monitor On The Market
This is the best monitor out there, the features packed into it such as 2 analog inputs, 1 dvi input, portrait and landscape screen rotation, sliding telescopic stand (not like Dell's which only "pops" from low to high) and the clarity and crispness of the images could not be beat. I shopped around for months before making the leap to LCD, and after bringing home (and then returning) monitors from Dell, Sharp and Samsung - on every level, Viewsonic's VP171B is the best.

When the price dropped to $519 on Amazon, I decided to replace all my CRTs, I BOUGHT 3 OF THEM!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding LCD
After turning on this LCD, all I can say is wow.It is absolutely stunning. One red pixel near the lateral edge. The 16ms refresh time, pivot function, and simply outstanding picture makes this well worth the money. ... Read more

Videoseven's 19-inch L19PS flat-panel LCD combines a sleek black-and-silver design with the latest display technologies. The monitor takes advantage of Fujitsu's high-quality MVA panel technology (Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment) to ensure cutting-edge performance, boasting a 21 ms response time, a brightness rating of 300 cd/m2, a dynamic 500:1 contrast ratio, and stellar viewing angles of 170 degrees (horizontal/vertical).

Its 19-inch, 4:3 aspect-ratio screen and 14.8-by-11.9-inch viewing area make it ideal for complex image processing or CAD/CAE applications. And, thanks to its DDC2B plug-and-play compliance and a handy 15-pin D-sub signal input (cable supplied), the screen is a snap to integrate with your existing hardware.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT monitors), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life, space savings, and light weight/easy positioning.

The L19PS's two onboard speakers are driven by 2.5 watts apiece, sufficient for clear, reasonably loud PC sound in the immediate vicinity of the screen. It's wall mountable and is outfitted with a Kensington lock to secure your investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Value!
I love my Epson Powerlite S1. I use it regularly for PowerPoint presentations in office settings and as a big screen TV in our home theatre.

For PowerPoint it does a tremendous job, providing clean, crisp images. For home theatre the room can't be too bright in order to see all of the detail, but that's a small concession to make for a projector that offers ease of use, very good quality, affordable replacement bulb price, and enough power to get the job done - all for under $1000. Very tough to beat this deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome projector for the price.
I saw a review about this projector about a year ago on a tv show called screen savers, which airs on tecTv.They gave it a good review so i gave it a try,AN LOVED IT.I only bought it to watch dvd's on an it works perfect for that.I have a huge wall in one room of our house an simply painted the wall white an use it as the screen.A 20 foot screen no less. It's the ultimate hometheater, just add your surround sound an boom.No reason to ever leave your house for the movies again.Yes the lights do need to be low,or in my case i like it dark. But its got a great picture an more then worth the price. We've had nothing but fun with it ever since i bought. Its the perfect projector for those on a buget or for anyone that just dos'nt like to waste a lot of money on something like watching movies..............

4-0 out of 5 stars Good projector!
I purchased this projector two weeks ago and I am very pleased with it.When I connect it to my computer the image is very bright and I do not need to darken the room much at all to view it.The room needs to be a bit darker when viewing TV or DVD/VHS movies. My son uses it to play GameCube games--which is really fantastic because of the size of the image! However, for some of the games (Lord of the Rings) we really need to darken the room to see the screen well.

I have used LCD projectors for the past five years in educational settings. This is the first one I have purchased and I am extremely pleased with it.The only negative comment I can make about it is that the zoom feature doesn't change the size of the image by much.I wanted to set the projector on a stand near one wall and project it to the wall on the other side. When I do this the image is bigger than the wall space and I can't change its size by much using the zoom feature.Instead I have to move the projector into the middle of the room and operate it from there.Even with this inconvenience, I still think it is an excellent projector and so far I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see beautiful color images larger than life!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love mine.
How many people do you know who have 100inch tv's and paid less than $1000. I'm guessing not too many. I guess a picky person could find some faults: not as bright as a tv in a well lit room, no manual lens zoom, makes more noise than a tv. Still I really do love mine. It takes up about 1/100th of the space of a large tv, I can pack it in a backpack if I want to take it to a friend's, I can move apartments without hiring 5 movers to cary it down the stairs, I can play 4 person video games (Mario Kart Double Dash!) and everyone gets their own 50 inch tv, the colors are brilliant, and the price is decent enough.

Go buy one and you won't be unhappy.

5-0 out of 5 stars S1 Hit of the Party
This is a great product.

We had more than 250 digital photos submitted by our Harley Owners Group members to be used in a continuous-loop slide show during a recent party.

We mounted the S1 in a loft and projected the slide show onto a wall 25 feet away making a huge display of the photos. The S1 was on for more than seven hours, performed flawlessly, projected sharp images, was easy to hook up to a laptop computer (the source of the images). The simple operation of the S1 made set up and adjustments quick.

We later used the S1 in our living room to watch a DVD on a 70-inch movie screen. The projector was hooked into the video-out RCA jack on the DVD player. Total set up time: Less than 3 minutes. Again, flawless operation and extremely good picture.

I'd recommend the S1 to anyone looking for an entry level projector with seemingly solid construction, easy-to-understand controls and great features. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Superb LCD with a single design flaw
The E172FP 17-inch Flat-Panel LCD monitor is a Dell-produced monitor, and lives up to market standards in terms of clarity, usability, and color depth.

The E172FP has a full, rich color range, with a powerful user-customization tool so you can edit the RGB values to suit your personal liking.Full plug-and-play support is a great tool, and although Dell includes a 'driver installation' CD, it isn't really necessary. The monitor will perform up to 1280 x 1024 pixel depth, and remains true-to-form with image hues and clarity.

I own a laptop and dabble in graphic design. This monitor has been a godsend, and a wonderful investment; whenever I create images, I do it on the Dell monitor. Its color reproduction is as close to 'real' as any monitor I've worked on.The thin, sleek LCD technology is a huge space-saver, and the user interface is simple and powerful.

There is, however, a design flaw in this monitor.I have used other monitors with this laptop before, and have yet to encounter this problem... the EF172FP bleeds AC power through the monitor cable.I'm still puzzled as to how such a thing can occur, but even after Dell replaced my first EF172FP (for the same problem), the replacement model does the same thing. This is most noticable in regard to audio:I was first alerted to the problem by a pronounced 'hum' in my speakers.I found that this 60 Hz hum was due to the monitor's attachment to my computer, and much to my shock, was bleeding AC power onto my system board!I've checked around, and this is not a critical problem (it won't damage your computer in the long run), but it's annoying if you use your computer for audio purposes. If your computer is attached to a powered speaker system, you will encounter hum.

Other than the power issue, the EF172FP is a great buy and a smart investment.Dell service and support, though outsourced, is still very friendly and understanding. The monitor warranty is very wide, and the device itself will not disappoint.Powerful visual technology, while remaining space efficient; recommended! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CRT for Graphic Design
I'm a graphic artist who uses 2 of these monitors side-by-side, day-in and day-out, 8+ hours a day 5 days a week. I haven't had a single issue with them since I got them new over a year ago.

Both are set at 1280x1024x32 on a 128MB Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 on Windows XP Pro. I have my taskbar along the left side of my left monitor. They are heavy-ish like any CRT monitor but aren't as deep as some 19" monitors. If you took a 19x19x19 inch cube, thats the space you'd need for this monitor.

A little education for you:
1. Like all consumer electronic equipment, performance will vary based on your environment. I have 2 identical models that were purchased at the same time, and even then I must use professional color calibration hardware and software to get accurate. By default they don't match. That's normal.
2. "Viewable" area IS 18" (diagonal) but that does NOT mean your desktop will fill that whole area unless you adjust the monitor to do so. I've never liked the marketing spin that allows 18" viewable to be called 19" monitors due to some technicality. Like 0-60 times on automobiles, it may be fact though it may not equal real world practicality. LCDs win it that respect; 19" on the box equals 19" viewable.

At work, color reproduction is more important than monitor size. So since good CRT monitors are more color true (very important for designing print projects) than LCD monitors, these monitors fit the bill. (I do use a single 19" LCD at home.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Monitor
While, as other people have noted, this is not truly a "flat" screen monitor, in the most rigid sense of the word, it is indeed an excellent monitor that I am most pleased with. The refresh rate offered at the resolution of 1600 x 1200 appears to not flicker at all, and the color I see while playing video games (Battlefield: Vietnam; Farcry) is absolutely astonishing.

The only disappointment to this monitor, as I'm sure you've read already, is the fact that it is not as flat as an LCD screen.Don't let that discourage you from purchasing this, though, as it is an incredible monitor.I have not seen better color and performance from any other monitor in the nearby price range.Let me also assuage your worries by explaining that this is indeed a 19" monitor, with what appears to be exactly 18" of viewable screen.

I do not regret my purchase at all, and don't expect to upgrade my monitor for a long period of time.

4-0 out of 5 stars great picture, no sound
I just got the monitor: great picture, easy setup, no hassles, but no sound. My last NEC monitor had speakers and a headphone jack, so I just assumed (yeah, I know, shame on me) that this would have them too. Wrong! So I ordered some Altec-Lansings, and everything should be jake in a few days, but until then, I miss my tunes at work. So make sure before buying that you realize you're gonna need external speaker with this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic G90FB-2
I've had this monitor for about a year now and so far it has been operating reliably. At first, you'll have to do some tweaking to get it set up just the way you like it. I set the resolution to 1024X768 and the refresh rate to 100 Hz, which to my eyes makes it totally flicker-free with sharp graphics and fonts just big enough to make text reading easy.

This monitor has very good brightness and contrast. The colors are solid and vivid. It measures approximately 18" deep and the front glass is flat and exactly 18" diagonal. The screen behind the front glass may be curved (like others have noted), but they use some kind of optical trickery to make the net image seem flat. For the most part, it works, but it's NOT perfect. If you want/need a true flat monitor, perhaps an LCD is best for you. However, if price is a consideration, then you may want to try this value packed item. I have no regrets.

2-0 out of 5 stars 19 inch? Maybe I need a new tape mesurer...
While mesuring the space on my desk compaired to the monitor I noticed something wrong. While the information on my order says 19 inch, and the box says 19 inch, this monitor is only 17 inch! And not even 17 viewable (the box and this site both say 18 inch viewable) - it's only 16 inches veiwable. Thinking maybe it was packed wrong, I just the the number on the modle itself - nope it's the same G90FB.

I would love to know what kind of tape mesure they are using, because this is rather misleading. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Say goodbye to bulky, low-res television and say hello to Polaroid's LCD-2000. This 20-inch LCD TV produces exciting, perfectly flat images while occupying minimal space in your office, bedroom, kitchen, or living room. The 640 x 480-resolution television includes an NTSC tuner for immediate off-air reception, and it's also ideal for use with a DTV receiver, a progressive-scan DVD player, a VCR, or even your computer for dual-purpose viewing.

The set is configured in a standard, 4:3 aspect ratio that matches most broadcast TV dimensions and accepts both standard-definition 480i and enhanced-definition 480p signals. And with its 350:1 contrast ratio, impressive 450 cd/m2 brightness rating, and onboard digital comb filter (which separates the color signals to minimize dot crawl and blurred edges), the set renders sharp, focused images that look great regardless of their source. It also features super-wide, 176-degree viewing angles so everyone in the room can enjoy a great view.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and--at a mere 23 pounds--light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.

Connections consist of a VGA (15-pin D-Sub) PC input with minijack audio, an RF coaxial antenna/video input, and 1 each component-video, composite-video, and S-video inputs with 1 stereo analog (left/right) RCA audio input between them.

Other features of the LCD-2000 include stereo speakers with 1.5 watts per channel (x 2), a sleep timer, a headphone jack for private listening, and a full-function remote control.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am impressed
I have to say, I am really impressed with the quality of this TV for the price. It has many features found on much higher priced televisions, yet is very simple to operate. The picture quality is excellent for a tv in this price range and installation onto a wall mount was a breeze.I mounted this tv above the double doors in my bedroom (where I had an electrical and cable outlet installed when we built the house) and it looks great!Very sleek and stylish, I need a new TV for our living room too, and If Poloroid makes a large screen flat screen I will definately look into it as well.Very satisfied here!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!
We recently purchased the Polaroid 20 inch LCD Flat Panel TV. It has clear, crisp pictures with unbelieveable color. The onscreen program guide is easy to follow when adjusting color, size, etc. I also recieved the Polariod portable DVD player with the pivitable screen for Christmas. I am very impressed and satisfied with the Polaroid company and plan on purchasing more items from them in the future!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good TV, bad PC monitor
I did order the 15 Pin VGA M-M cable but the monitor can only work at 800X600 or 640X480. Don't expect too much as having a 20" PC monitor.

Good TV indeed. I have tried out with PS2 and regular cable. It works gret.

It doesn't need a TV tuner. Even a 1024X768 TV tuner can't do a better job than a TV itself ... Read more
