The best fountain pen I've used.

Not for 17" Laptops
I have a 17" Alienware running a 3GHz Pentium 4 which gets hot.Although the cooler is a stable platform for the computer itdoesn't reduce the heat on the left side.The fans are louder than advertized and must do some good as the computer's fans don't run as much.It doesn't draw enough power to have a noticeable effect on battery life.I purchased the cooler knowing it's only 13" using the Amazon Visa offer so for an out of pocket cost of $0 it was worth a try.

It works
I have an HP Pavilion ze5375us notebook computer. This is a full powered, desktop replacement machine and it runs hot. It has three fans to keep it cool. The fans can get very noisey and the computer still occasionally over heats and shutdown down. I've been propping up the backup of the machine in an effort to increase airflow. While this helps, it hasn't completely solved the over heating problem.

I finally decided to get one of the "powered" colling devices. I looked at the Targus Notebook Chill Pad and the Antec Notebook Cooler. The Targus devices looked cheaply constructed (all plastic) while the Antec device appeared to be of higher quality. I was confused by the Amazon user reviews, because they indicate that the Targus device has a higher satisfaction rating than the Antec. I was concerned at some of the reviews indicating that the Target device didn't provide much air circulation (but it was quiet). On the other hand, the Antec device was critizised for being louder than a wisper.

I finally made my decision based upon size. My machine is fairly large and it dwarfed the Targus device. However it fits well on the Antec (even with a docking station attached).

So what do I think of my decision? I've been using the Antect Notebook Cooler for three days now. The fans are definitely audible. They make about as much noise as you would expect from a small fan (2 actually). Since my computer has three noisey fans in it already, overall, it isn't any more noisey than what I was already accustomed to. I actually took the fan noise as a positive feature, after all I wanted the cooler to actually work and cool down the notebook.

The power connector will definitely cause you problems if you move the notebook/cooler combination around a lot. I'll keep the cooler on the desk most of the time and I'll be careful otherwise.

The computer seems to be running cooler than before. Areas of the computer that get very hot before the cooler, are now warm to the touch. So all-in-all, I'm satisfied with the purchase.

For those of you who are overly concerned about the fan noise, I would suggest looking at the Targus Podium Coolpad or simply propping up the computer with something (I received complements for using a box of staples). Good luck with your choice.

Doesn't work too well...
Bought this because my emachines was overheating to the point of shutting down.After I got the cooling pad, the laptop still kept overheating and shutting down.I don't know how much cooling effect the pad actually has, other reviewers say their temperature gauges show lower temps, but my laptop stayed as hot as ever.In fact, my internal fan seemed to turn on MORE often after I started using the pad.It's really loud.And after a few months, the power plug stops working property.

not a miracle, but still a good gadget
I looked into buying this gadget because of all the heat that my laptop was generating. the weather was already getting hot in the middle of April, and my folks weren't going to turn on the air conditioner -- and so my laptop was billowing out heat like a furnace! My computer wasn't starting to fail or anything like that, but I was worried about it. I ended up buying this cooling pad,and it does help a little bit. I don't completely agree with some of the reviews here that mentioned that it doesn't help any if you have a laptop that has its cooling vents on the side, because I think it can -- the bottom of my laptop usually gets very hot, and putting the pad underneath has helped. Before I put that pad in, the air coming out of the side vent was very hot, and the fan always had to kick up into its fastest mode. After I put the pad underneath, the fan didn't have to kick up into its fastest mode anymore, and it didn't feel like it was pushing out fire anymore. LOL

I'd have to say that this gadget has helped a bit, but it's not a miracle. Still, though, if you really care about extending the life of your equipment, and possibly making your equipment less sluggish, it's probably worth the 30 bucks.

PS: I use speech recognition software on my computer on a regular basis, and I have noticed an improvement in the recognition time between when I say words, and when they come up on the screen. I don't know if this has to do with heat being taken away from the processor, but it may. I've heard that heat can cause a processor to slow down.

Do its work perfect !!!
I have a Toshiba A70, (Pentium IV with 703Mb Ram and 64Mb of video) and i think more heat than mine, doesn`t exist.

The design is pretty nice, its the only cooler that is near the size of my laptop (15.4"), the other models are smallest, before the cooler, (more if you are playing) the keyboard wentvery hot, extremelly hot, to put the hands over it, after use the cooler is near cold...,

I can't say the fans are the most quiet thing on earth, but my laptop already have 2 fans, and are full operation most the time.., so more louder impossible, and since the cooler`s fans are more quiet, i think its a progress.
Low power consumption, and the usb extension not bother the other close usb connector.
It have enough space between the cooler and the laptop.
And for god shake just 29$?? what are you looking for?? gold and diamonds???

It makes a beautiful book...
I saw the ad for this in a magazine and decided to try it for a Father's Day gift.The software takes up a lot of space, but the program is very easy to use.

I have a Lexmark inkjet printer and was able to print the glossy cover without any problems.

The photo pages also came out really well, although I printed those at Kinkos for better quality.

The pages were easy to bind into the book and it really looks professional.

I will be using this again and again.My only complaint/comment is that I wish they sold the hard bound books and pages seperately so more books could be made with the program. ... Read more

Works for me.
I'm doing the Folding@home Distributed Computing work on my G3/900 iBook. It is very processor intensive and it heats up the bottom of the iBook something wicked. So I bought this Antec Notebook Cooler. Nice aesthetic match to the white iBooks.

Unfortunately the G3 iBooks don't have CPU temp sensors. But the hard drives do. The hard drive temp has dropped from 47°C to 43°C (7.2° F drop). I would bet the CPU temperature has dropped even more.

My only complaint is that I wish it had a high and low fan setting. It's a tad loud. For reference it is about the same, or perhaps a little louder than the iBooks internal fan.

But overall, nice fit and finish. iBooks fan hasn't come on all day. It's a keeper.

Nice, but not suitable for a powerbook g4
After my Dell laptop overheated, I knew that when I purchased my powerbook g4, I would take as many precautions as I could to keep it cool.A friend had purchased the Antec notebook cooler for his ibook and gave great reviews to me.

Right out of the box, the Antec notebook cooler is very aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.It's pretty quiet--not too noticeable, especially when you have a laptop on top of it.But after a few weeks of usage, I started noticing black smudges on the bottom of my powerbook.It was a nightmare to scrub off!After a bit of investigation , it looks like the culprit was the powerbook's aluminum casing rubbing against the Antec's aluminum surface.How unfortunate!

This "minor" glitch was ruining my $2600 powerbook's casing.So for now, I've resorted to flipping the notebook cooler upside down and using the bottom to rest my powerbook on top of, that is.. until I get a new notebook cooler.It is very crucial for me to have a notebook cooler, because I do tend to use my powerbook in bed a lot.And that's where it can get very warm from resting on cotton.

Quantity not quality
At the time of purchase I was considering a few cameras.I not only considered the individual cost but also the price of paper and ink.At the time I thought that I had made the right choice by selecting the most cost efficient item.The printer is very easy to use and prints quickly.For quick prints where quality is not that important this printer is great.If you want quality pictures this printer does not even come close to its counterparts.My friend bought the Kodak printer the same day.Her printer is slower and runs out of ink faster but the prints are phenomenal.My prints come out more quickly but the quality is just not there even when set to all of the best options.I wish now that I had gone another route.The printer has just one color cartridge for all colors, however if you print a lot of one color (example pictures at the ocean) then other prints look oddly greenish or redish without the cartridge suggesting a change.I also have a problem with stickiness, I have tried both the premium HP paper as well as other brands and it comes out sticky.The pictures stick to my frames and scrapbook covers even after several hours of drying time.For quick pictures to pin on a bulletin board or give to kids this is great, but for memorable lasting photos this isin't the best bet.

Disappointed in NY
At first I loved this printer, it is simple to use and can be used alone or through your pc.Unfortunately the photos never dry.At first I thought it was because I either framed them or put them in an album before they had a chance to dry.I then printed some and let them sit out to dry for weeks and the photos never dried.Any photos that I have framed eventually stick to the glass, particularily the darker spots of the photo.I even got a new printer from HP and still encountered the same problem...has anyone else had this problem? (Yes I am using the correct HP paper and ink)

A great little workhorse!
This is a dandy little workhourse that will generate countless 4 x 6 photographs from your digital camera with no hassle or fuss. The HP 245 is a small, tight little package that you can easily pack away and take along on trips.
The HP 245 really helps make the "digital darkroom" a reality, even during trips. I take mine on my boat together with a small laptop computer, and can generate high-quality 4 x 6 photos right on the spot, after taking shots with various digital cameras. The HP 245 has a built-in CF card reader and also reads various other popular media and you can easily print directly from the CF card or other media even without the laptop too.The color LCD allows you to simply insert the CF card (or other medium) and simply select what picture you want to print--without the computer.This also means that you don't need to bring a card reader along if you have your HP 245 since it functions as a digital media reader.
My HP 245 installed effortlessly on my IBM Thinkpad notebook computer (IBM TP 600E) running Windows XP, and is now my main printer for 4 x 6 photos and of course is the only printer I take along on trips. It is great fun to go on trips, take photos, and then give friends nicely framed photos the next day, or later the same day. Frankly, I never realized how much fun it was to have a printer along on trips. Most printers nowadays are big and bulky. This one is not.

The quality of the prints from the HP245 is excellent -- it uses the Type 57 tri-color cartridge which is the same cartridge that several bigger printers use.The photos are crisp, bright, and professional.This printer produces very decent 4 x 6 prints that look great framed on one's living room table, wall, or whatnot.

I also have the HP145 which is exactly the same except that it lacks the color LCD which allows you to view the pictures without a computer, although it will print out a little index of thumbnails for you to select from.When I needed a second printer I went with the 245 because the cost had come down.Either is excellent.

This printer is awesome!
I gave this printer to my Brother for Christmas 2 years ago. While I was visiting him last week in Montana, we printed out the pictures I took.they turned out better then regular film. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.I plan to buy myself one.

A go everywhere printer!
This is hands down the best compact 4x6 printer on the market.I have been using a Canon S750 for most of my digital printing, and it works great, but the ease of the HP 245 and quality of prints is awesome.Just pop in your memory card and start printing, with a small screen to view your pictures and loads of features, your pictures always look great! Plus the zoom feature is just fantastic.I also bought a travel case for it so I can take it with me on trips, and the hp 11.5 mil. premium plus glossy photo paper with the tab so you don't have to touch the photo is the best paper out there period.An all around great printer! ... Don't use plain paper
I just got my Canon i550 printer.I printed out a photo on plain paper, and the quality is very bad.I was so disappointed.I started to doubt people's praises on the Canon printer.Then I bought the Cannon Photo Paper Plus Glossy, and was stunned at the printed result.It's dark room development quality.So I guess it's the combination of the printer and the paper that makes it look good.

Price: 50 cents/page + ink = less than $1/page.The price for 8x10 development on ofoto.com (a Kodak's company) is four times more expensive at $3.99.

Quality: Stunning

Dimension: I don't know why 8.5x11 has become the standard for photo printing.Most frames out there are 8x10.Do I suppose to trim the printout myself?

Borderless: it's almost borderless, but my printer gave me a border of 1/16 inch on the top and right of the paper. I used the A4 size on Canon Photo Print application.

Like most printers, the output is much better when using the manufacture's own paper (as opposed to the cheaper generic paper), but there is no need to buy the most expensive "Pro" paper as neither I nor my wife could discern ANY difference between the two. There may be a benifit to the "Pro" paper that cannot be seen (lasts longer?) but at almost twice the cost it is not worth it - this paper will produce the highest quality prints on your Canon printer (I think they look better than the ones I get from the photo lab).

Lab-quality prints
I have a Canon S300 printer - basically a 2-year-old, fifty dollar printer - and with this paper I get lab quality prints.I can print my 2 megapixel photos at 8x10 size.

Ok machine, terrible software and support
HP's OfficeJet 7110 all-in-one looked great initially: a reasonably priced machine that prints in color, scans in color with a sheet feeder, copies, and sends and receives faxes.However, four problems arose in practice.First, color printing is often of poor quality because the colors don't quite line up.The 7110 has a feature to automatically align the colors, but this is a pain to use (it involves many steps that sometimes fail to work so you are led through the cycle several times) and sometimes does not help.Second, Macintosh OS X users may experience software problems.At first I could print sometimes, with reboots often fixing an inability to print, but for months now I have been unable to print at all.(I can print on another printer, so the problem is in the 7110's software.)HP's website acknowledges the problem but apparently does not provide a fix.Third, also on OS X, the scanning software has a bug so black-and-white scans take 8 times as much disk space as they should.Fourth, HP's technical support people invariably made excuses instead of resolving problems or submitting bug reports.For example, they found a brochure saying the 7110 scans in color with no mention of black-and-white, and therefore told me black-and-white scans are not supported, despite that their own software has a black-and-white scan button.Overall, I do not recommend the HP 7110 all-in-one for anyone.Windows users may suffer less than Mac users, as two of the four problems mentioned above may not affect Windows users.And eventually, the HP 7110 may be a better proposition, if HP fixes its software problems and overhauls its customer support.But for now at least, I would look for a maker other than HP.

Such poor quality
Purchased 2 of these, for business use and deployment into our CEO's home/office environment, and all looked fined until it came time to test the scanning function and in particular from the ADF which is where the problems started.

The "Director" software just wouldn't work, multiple pages would scan ok as far as previewing them but come the stage you try to save them or send them to Word, up pops an error indicating you need to reinstall the scanning software due to a library not being found.

Using the "Scan to" function on the front panel of the device seemed to fair a little better but soon discovered, on a multiple page scan to Word, only the first page scanned fully and each subsequent page was only partially scanned with the results nicely overlaid on a single page in word just to add to add to the problem.

I attempted to get these issues resolved via emailing HP support over the next two days which is better than hanging on the phone as experienced my many reviewers I guess but the end result was still the same...i.e. no resolution. The support followed the lines of re-installing the software, cleaning out the registry, loading the previous version of the software from the website, updating the print-head firmware (an odd one to fix a scanning issue I know) etc

The machines/software were tested on 2 x WinXP and 1 Win2k platforms and in all cases had the same problems with the scanning function.

All its other functions appeared to be ok but given the problems had these units returned as being not fit for use. Given the other problems people have experienced with different aspects of these machines returning them seems a very wise move.

The other offerings in the HP Multifunction arena also appear to be plagued with problems so be very careful when looking at HP for your chosen solution especially in the inkjet world.

I've since gone for the slightly more expensive Canon MP780 which so far does exactly what you'd expect of these machines and does it very well, no installation issues, software provided is streets ahead of the poor effort released by HP.

So, potentially a good machine at a good price let down by substandard software which just didn't work for me and couldn't be fixed by HP support.

Scanner failure
We bought two of these, they are both gathering dust as they both have "Scanner failure" at power on.Even if we don't want to use the scanner we can't print.

I have requested our IT department to avoid HP products where possible as there was no support, and a great raft of stuff on the web about this problem, but no easy solution.

The product is quite useless to us.

Do NotBuy!
This machine was issued to me by my company for use at home.I wish I could take it back, but unfortunately I have no choice.

first, this printer uses A LOT of ink.It also shakes wildly when it prints - almost I would invision a cartoon printer to print.

The fax machine has no quickscan feature and the autofeeder has to be babysat each and every fax.

The scanner is alright, but the software is not too user friendly.

Allaround, there are much better products out there.If your company doesn't decide for you, stay away from this one!

A problem from the start
I will make this short and not very sweet.Avoid this machine for the following reasons:

Scan never worked

Cannot be fully accessed through network without HP proprietary wireless card.

HP claims that Belkin wifi ports are not compatable with this machine.

The best charger for your AA and AAA needs.
When I needed to get a battery charger, I checked out several before buying. This was clearly the best option out there, and it wasn't a terribly difficult conclusion to come to.

This charger holds two AA and two AAA batteries. It also comes with two AA and two AAA batteries. These are the special IC3 Rayovac "smart" batteries. They are more expensive than typical NiMH batteries (if you buy them separately, which you don't have to), but perform much better. And since they're included with the charger, you don't even need to buy them.

Rayovac says that the batteries charge in 15 minutes, and last about four times as long as alkaline batteries. It isn't often that a product lives up to the manufacturer's hype. In this case, it does. After using this for several months, I can honestly say that both claims are literally true.

If you have a digital camera that uses AA batteries (as I do), this is a "must-have" accessory. It is simply the best battery charger you can buy. Period.

SIX STARS--The BEST charger ever!
This really is the BEST charger I have ever used.I've had one for over a year now, and I must admit I was skeptical about the claims of 15-minute charges, but am pleased to report it really lived up to the hype!

They really charge in fifteen minutes, and they last a long time in my digital camera.They also don't have the "memory" problem some other rechargeables have, so you can charge them when they are totally drained or when they are nearly full without impacting the battery life.

With typical alkalines, I may get up to 30 minutes of camera use.With these, I have been able to take photos during a day-long event without needing to change sets!The most non-flash photos on a single charge? 279!

The rapid charge time almost eliminates the need for extra sets of batteries (ones normally set aside to charge while the other set is in use), but for a high-demand device like a camera, it may still be a good option.

The charger shuts off once the charge cycle is completed, so you don't need to worry about overcharging, or leaving the charger "on".

ONE WARNING - THE BATTERIES GET REALLY HOT!

It's just fantastic
I've been use this recharger for 6 months and works really good with any kind of rechargeable batteries. But if you get the RAYOVAC IC3, just in 15 minutes you will get the best results.

Best battery charger ever !!
This is the best battery charger I have ever used. I have never been a big fan of Rayovac before but they outdid themselves on this technology.Most battery charges will charge any old rechargeable battery in 2 hours or so. Rayovac applied intelligence to the battery instead of the charger to develop its I-C3 technology that provides outstanding performance in charging time and battery endurance in this unit.

I have a high-end digital camera that eats batteries.I had four sets of expensive rechargeables that I rotated in the charger all the time before buying the Rayovac.When I bought my first Rayovac 15 minute charger I was very impressed when the charger cut off in almost exactly 15 minutes of charging. I used this set a batteries all day without any problems.I was actually quite surprised that these batteries were lasting longer than the ones that took two hours to charge!

I am now using the Rayovac 15 minute batteries in everything that takes AA and AAA.Now I have three Chargers (car, work and home).I even sent away for the car adapter so that on the 20-minute drive to where I am going to use my camera I have afresh set batteries.And because these batteries can be charged 1,000 times I won't be buying new ones anytime soon.

I can't say anything particularly bad about this battery system.Unlike most chargers this unit has a built-in fan.Because these batteries charge so fast they get quite warm.The fan drawls cool air from underneath the batteries and exhausts it out the top of the charger.Once you hear the fan turn off you know the batteries are charged, if you're not looking at the indicator lights.Both the 2 battery and 4 battery chargers can handle AA and AAA batteries and it does not seem to matter whether you put in one or all four batteries, it works.

I have now used these batteries in toys, CD players, etc... and they perform sometimes four times as long as alkaline batteries. I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy a charger that takes 30 minutes or an hour when the Rayovac 15 minute charger is on the market.
