Err...
I was hoping that by getting this I'd get a decent flow of air and i'd be able to use it anywayer. But I was sorely dissappointed. It doesn't give much air and all the air you get you need to be close to feel... plus its too loud to use in most places...

If you really need it, you can get it... but I can't use mine often because like I said its too loud. Not worth it, not enough air flowing.

This thing rocks
I don't know what that other guy was talking about with it overheating and whatnought. I've not had any problems with it. It's probably the sweetest geek gadget around! It complements my iBook very well. Very cool.

FlyFan motor stops when hot
I purchased two fans after I thought the first one broke after it stopped working.Shortly after I plugged in the second one, it stopped working also.I went to the Kensington site and searched for a technical support reason.They state at their web site that the fan will "stall" if its motor gets hot and you might need to reboot the computer to get it working again. Even rebooting the computer doesn't get the fan working again 9 times out of 10.I believe that having a fan stall when it is hot and allowing this to be an acceptable design charaacteristic is ridiculous.Isn't the point of having a fan to increase air flow and cool ?Now the owner of two defectively designed fans, I am very negative on this fan and this company for accepting the defect and selling it knowingly.

Great little fan!
I like it a lot. Great for laptop and its got a flexible neck. Only issue might be the slight noise it creates. Haven't tested the battery drain yet. Recommended for laptop owners.

Perfect for a Writer Who Loves the Dark
If you have one of this hot new PowerBooks with the glow in the dark keyboard, then you don't need one of these, but if you are like the legions of normal men and women who can't afford to shell out thousands of dollars for a laptop, but you still want to work in the dark, because maybe you're on a plane and the movie's going, or maybe you're in bed and your spouse objects to the lights on while he/she's trying to sleep, or maybe you just like the dark, then this baby is for you. I'm one of those dark loving people, a writer of stories scary and the dark is essential for me. This little light keeps my trusty old iBook's keyboard lit up and not much else. Perfect for a writer in the dark. Thumbs up from me.

Thing does its job well
This is a handy tool for a laptop in low light. Nice little thing...

Only thing about it is that some light escapes out the side even when pointing down.Also its not long enough for some purposes. Plus sometimes it slumps from the USB port.

Flylight does the job in low-light conditions
If you ever use your laptop in low-light conditions, such as:

- on an airplane
- outside
- in a darkened room

the Kensington Flylight is perfect for giving you enough light to see the keyboard without lighting up a room.The stalk is flexible, allowing for easy aiming--and the light curls up easily and can be stashed into a side pocket of your travel bag.

It's a gem...I love mine, and would buy another if I lost it.

Bonus idea: this could also be used with a desktop machine (probably need a USB extension) if you prefer a soft glow over your keyboard instead of an overhead light. It's also much cheaper than choosing an illuminated keyboard.

Despite some of the reviews this is a really good little light.Dependable and great in low light.

Poor ergonomics make this a looser!
While this is a good looking product it has a fatal design flaw.The edge of the light has a piece of plastic that is visible from the side.The problem is that even when the light is pointed down at the keyboard you'll see the bright edge of the light and no matter how you position it the glare is bliding in low light situations (which is the only time you need the damned thing).A piece of electric tape will solve the problem but I'd suggest you look at another model. ... Well Designed
I bought this to illuminate the keyboard on my 12" Apple Powerbook when I work in the dark.It works well, and shines impressively bright and wide.I even use it to read by simply sitting it on its back on my lap as I read in bed and pointing the lamp at my book.It's too bad the lamp's arm isn't telescopic or it'd make for a perfectly good clip-on booklight right out of the box.

This device is well built, folds into a form that protects it from damage, even when thrown in a laptop case full of stuff that might crush something built less solidly.And it has a nice retracting USB cable.The retraction device for the cable, like most I've seen on devices like this, can be a bit finnicky but with the right pulling technique works correctly about 90% of the time.

Update, May, 2005.The light died.No idea why.So, maybe it's not as good as I thought.:)

Really compact
I bought this as my Sony Vaio laptop doesnt have a default light like IBM Thinkpad. This light is like a clip with rubber grips and can be cliped from top of the laptop screen, side of it or even from a USB male socket's base without scratching them. More over it's head can be swiveled to spotlight any area . The LED is bright enough to lite the area being spoted and one can read book/do other laptop activies like connecting USB device, replacing reading CD/DVD etc., without any strain. The wire, Man its strong enough to be pulled out with its USB pin. When not in use its head and neck can be folded towards its body [Just like the Chinese guy on his way to the BellagioVault in the flim Oceans 11 :)] and with its wire retracted,the whole unit can be packed to just a 2 AA battery's width and 1.5 AA battery height. ...
