2-0 out of 5 stars Epson 785EPX
Great printer if you use it everyday. The ink cartridges dry out very quickly if you don't use it everyday, they need frequent cleaning which dramatically shortens the useful life of a cartridge. After three years of frustration, it is now in the trash!I will be going back to HP.My son-in-law is still using my first one, a 500C which I bought over 10 years ago.

1-0 out of 5 stars terrible printer
This is the second epson printer I have owned. Both printers have the same problem. The extremely annoying problem is printer head clog if you don't use it in 7 days. Then you need to clean it. Each clean cycle will use about 1/10th of ink. I usually can print seven 7x10 photos per set of cartrige. Rest of the ink is used for printer head cleaning. It is also very slow for photo printing. I don't know if all of the inkjet printers have the same problem!

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Printer
This is a terrible printer. I've never seen any piece of equipment that takes so long to get going - anytime you do ANYTHING (even just changing the cartridge), it rolls the cartridges back and forth multiple times, rolls the paper bar, etc. etc. until you finally turn it off and try again. It takes a good 5 minutes for the stupid cartridges to center and stop rolling so you can change them.Plus, it goes through a color cartridge before you've even printed what would be a roll of film.To top if off - the quality is poor - the colors are NEVER right.Look elsewhere for a better printer

1-0 out of 5 stars Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX
Absolutely the worst printer I've ever owned.

4-0 out of 5 stars 785 work horse
Being a professional photographer, I went entirely digital about 18 months ago.My first investment was a Epson 1280.I loved it but needed a 2nd printer to print different items, most notably, proof prints and preview sheets for my customers.I bought my first 785EX.Being honest, at times I have problems with head clogs, but my 1280 clogs once in a while too.It is the nature of the beast.I now have 3- 785's.The last two I purchased from a office supply outlet on clearance for $45.00 each.Granted they clog once in a while, but if you can live with that shortcoming they are a great printer. The color matching is great, and the prints are fantastic. The key is using good paper.Epson paper is great, but a bit pricey if you go through a lot of paper.I have also had great luck with some red river papers.Draw backs of this model are few but the color ink cartidge is one of them.I get about 20 8 x 10 enlargements from a color cartridge.Have been buying non-Epson ink from a on line ink supplier with good results.Overall, maybe I have just been lucky, but I swear by Epson printers and the 785, for the money will print 8 x 10 prints as good as my Epson 1280. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of cr*p!
This printer has yet to print a decent page. It CONSTANTLY needs to have the print heads cleaned, and even then you have a 90% chance that it will leave horizontal bands through your text and pictures where it skips. On top of that, it needs ink refills faster then any printer I've ever had. Don't waste your time or money. I'm ready to trash it and get something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disgusting Piece of Junk
I think it lasted well the first year or so, and it's nice that you can buy generic cartridges for like $3 if you buy in bulk, but this printer is a nightmare. Not for college students!I came back from winter break only to find it not able to print much. The ink head gets dried out or clogged up if inactive!Makes you psychotic and wastes HOURS UPON HOURS of time, with trying to run printhead cleaning utilities.Eventually it began to work, but I went on Spring Break only to come back to a printer that can't print in black. The color works fine though now... hmmm, but with all the utlities I've run, the black ink has run out.I left the extra ink cartridges at home, and I can't even print documents out in color (e.g., in blue).I hate this loud, frustrating printer. It makes me die a little inside.Run away and buy anything else!

1-0 out of 5 stars Most worthless piece of crap printer ever.
I'll concur with most other reviewers.Takes forever to start printing. If you don't print every day then you'd better use the head cleaning utility before each print (which wastes ink).It knows if you're using non-original cartridges and I suspect that it treats them differently.Original cartridges are very expensive and don't last long.I'll never buy Epson again.

1-0 out of 5 stars No ink? Out of luck.
This printer is frustrating beyond belief. If you have no black ink, the software does not allow you to print anything. Even if you are not trying to print anything black. Not to mention it goes through ink very quickly and constantly nags you to buy expensive epson cartridges.

1-0 out of 5 stars I hate this printer!
I hate this printer! It is loud, slow, and the ink cartridges are difficult to find, not to mention that they have to be replaced all of the time.I purchased this on the recommendation of a friend and lets just say the friend gets a one star rating now. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good all-in-one
The printer is great for office and home use. Its copier is also excellent and faxes are great. The only few problems i have with it is the feeder scanner... most of the time it gets sucked in sideways or crooked and it comes out printer at an angle, most of the time it only feeds it at a tiny angle, and very rarly it has trouble sucking the paper in, but thats not to much a problem you just tap the paper into the feeder. Overall i would reccomend this printer its a great size for what it does if you have small desk space, the ink cartiges can be a bit pricy compared to just regular printers, but the cartages last a very long time if you just using it for office use, and very little photos.

1-0 out of 5 stars carriage jam
We only had this printer for a little over a year and it no longer works. We have not used it extensively either. The carriage jam problem just showed up and now it is completely uselss. We now have to buy a new printer/copier/fax.I will not be getting an HP.We will also be getting a copier that you can lay the paper on flat, not a feed through.Save your money.I am very upset that I now have to buy a new printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Works great for one year!
I used this machine to copy and fax.I thought it worked great, until....I got the infamous "Carriage Jam" that has rendered it useless after just over a year - and out of warranty! If you think buying a new machine every year is reasonable, then I recommend this product. If it burns you to see your hard-earned money go into the garbage, then I would say buy something different.Google it and you'll see that hundreds of people have had this same problem.
I hope this helps!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good printer/copier/fax...
We actually have two of these v40's. We have two computer stations in the house so decided we would get the same printer for each, saves hassle buying differant cartridges for the printers. One is set up for using all its functions including fax and the other is used mainly for printing and copying. I really like these printers, they do it all quite well. I was amazed at how well they will print photo's...using good photo paper and setting the printer properly...this machine prints excellent photos...every bit as nice as my Canon Photo printer, and a lot faster. Though not as fast at printing doc's as a laser printer, it is faster than some other ink jets we have had. Being able to use the copy and fax modes as stand alones is a plus...don't even need to turn the computer on, saves time.
We have had both of these printers for about three years now and have had no problems or complaints. You get a resonable amount of printing from the cartridges and they arn't too outrageously priced. Recommend this one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Faulty printer
Works fine to begin with, but I'll tell you now how yours will break if you buy one. The gear(s) controlling the service station will break causing the carriage to stop and grind during it's travel. Plenty of the V40s break this way and I doubt that any will be alive within the next year.

1-0 out of 5 stars Expensive to use. Misleading marketing
The i950 worked well for a little while when all of a sudden the machines stops functioning. It turns out that the Printhead must be replaced periodically and that Canon considers the Printhead to be a 'consumable'. I went back and checked the documentation carefully and there was absolutely no word of a printhead needing any sort of replacement. Well, what do you know??? A replacement printhead runs you over $100!!!!

This is a case of deceptive marketing and questionable engineering. But then again, if they were truthful about their printers, who would by them? I'm done with Canon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Quality,
I really like the print quality of this printer, its just phenominal. However, i find myself not using it as much as i would have like because of the operating costs.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good printer
I have found the i950 to be a very good printer. It is fast, quite and produces beautiful prints.I especially like the individual ink tanks which are clear (so you can see that they really are empty) and they do not contain a "killer" chip which would prevent you from refilling them if you wanted to. Certainly a step up from my previous Epson which constantly had clogged nozzles.

I too, however, had the "black bleeding into the yellow cartridge" problem after 18 months of moderate use. I thought it was some sort of contamination/growth so went thru 4 or 5 cartridges before finding out what the problem was.To Canon's credit, their tech help said they did not think it was contamination and was probably the printhead but could/would not explain why the problem occurs.Since the printer was out of warranty replacing the printhead was my problem.

Have just replaced the i950 with an i960 so will give Canon another chance.Hopefully they have the printhead problem solved. If anything, the 960 prints look better than the 950.Absolutely beautiful.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good While it Lasted
This was a very good printer, while it worked. After two years' moderate use, it began acting up.After arguing with it for too long, I realized that it was pumping black ink into the yellow cartridge.Every yellow I install ends up that way.Canon tech support advises that I needed a new print head at $80+.Forget it!

My next printer will not be a Canon. I'm mulling over running the printhead through the dishwasher or sormething like that.It probably won't take kindly to that sort of thing, but with nothing to lose...

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific printer!
This is my first photo printer and I couldn't be happier with it. I purchased it in September 2003 and it has worked perfectly since then. Set-up was easy, the photos come out great, and it is fast. I use the Canon software to download photos but that's it. For everything else -- image correction, printing, etc. -- I use Photoshop Elements 2.0. For what it's worth, I use a Canon G3 and a Mac running OS X 10.2.8. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I bought the 7200 about 6 months ago, and as I'm used to work heavily with my computer and the printer, so I can say I know a bit of writing reviews about it. And I have to say, I'd not buy other printer for a long time. The user guide is perfect, it prints very nicely, and its very light. Now I'm printing photos, and the results were very satisfying too. I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars preforms well for me so far
I had a problem with the paper jamming on me also, until I realized it was a user malfunction, not the printer's fault. Now I have no problems with the printer at all. I haven't used it that much so far, but it does very well when I do use it.

If I was a company selling products like this I would get very frustrated at simple, impatient consumers blaming their problems on the product when a lot of the times it is simply user error.

Also, if one looks at the specs for this printer you would see it is not meant for heavy use. Says 1000 pages per month. We also have a 5550, not a photo printer as it has no memory card slots, but prints faster at the same resolution and is meant to be used up to 5000 pages per month.

The photosmart 7260 is a much quieter printer, and jerks around much less also. So far I'm happy with it. HP printers print heads are built into the ink cartridges, so if you have a problem with the print head you just have to replace the cartridge. I believe HP is the only brand that can make that claim, which may very well save you some money in the long run also.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Frustrating Printer
I've found this printer to be, overall, annoying and frustrating. The paper tray will not hold a large amount of paper, necessitating frequent refills. Print quality is decent, but banding appears when printing some pictures.

The HP software included with the printer is awful. It runs three (3) programs in the background, when only one would suffice. When ink is low, it is curteous enough to remind you to refill it EVERY SINGLE TIME you start the computer or attempt to print something. Turning the printer on and off is a hassle, as the button will only respond if the printer is not busy; this means that everytime it's locked up or confused (by no means a rare occasion), you must unplug the printer to reset it. Plugging it back in will automatically cause the printer to turn back on, whether you want it to or not. Turning the printer on means that the ink writer inside must move around pointlessly for a few minutes before you can print. If the printer happens to be folded up (one of the best features for those of us with small desks) and automatically turns on, the writer will bang up against the paper tray until you unfold it, as it isn't intelligent enough to sense when the tray is folded up inside.

I've had problems such as these with every HP I've had. Next time I'm going with a different brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars Slow, Very slow............
I am very disappointed in this printer. It is the slowest printer that I have ever owned. It takes forever to print out a page at the normal print setting. The print head will print one line and then pause for a second and then print the next lint and pause etcetera... etcetera, until the document is printed.I have spoken with tech support and after trying several different fixes there has been no improvement.I have tried this printer on several different machines running Windows XP PRO via a USB Cable and get the same results.I have to print in draft mode to get any kind of normal speed out of it.If you are the type of person who doesn't mind a painfully slow printer (like watching the grass grow) then I guess that this printer will suffice. But if you want any kind of productivity out of one then I suggest you look else ware.

2-0 out of 5 stars "One of the worst and loudest printer"
This is one of the loudest printer I have ever bought. I bought this printer because it was a photo printer and I needed one. This printer is so loud. This printer also gets the paper jamed. I bought a Epson C84 inkjet printer and it is so quiet and fast. I recommend the Epson Stylus C84 instead of the Hp 7260 printer. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Figured out how to do 5X7 prints
This printer turns out excellent photos, and the print head hasn't died yet, but I haven't used it as much as some people might.I tried all day today to figure out how to do 5X7's and discovered that if I put the jpeg photo into Photoshop and size it to 5X7, it will print at that size on a "letter" sized piece of photo paper. However, you end up wasting a lot of paper because you have to cut the 5X7 from the paper. What was I thinking, buying a printer that didn't print 5X7's?What was Canon thinking, making a printer like that.I'll be darn sure next time that I have the flexibility I need in a printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst money on a printer you can buy
I purchased this printer a year ago at Best buy for around 150 dollars. Since then it has worked fine and i was happy with it, up until now. Today it starting printing some weird streaks all over pictures, and i ran the clean print head option at least 6 times and it still prints the ugly green lines across the page.
I thought Canon would make a decent printer, but they have provem me wrong and I will never purchase one again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Printhead dead after 15 months
My first (and last) Canon printer. Always had, and been pleased with, HP printers in the past and my next will be an HP.

This i850 worked well till the print head just died. I've been quoted £63.00 for a new one. NO WAY!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Printer Head
After 12 months of use the printer head went bad. I had problems with printing the color red. I've bought Canon printers in the past and really liked them but this is a bummer ... I'll think twice before I get another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars 11 months later
I heard Howard Stern talk about how great canon printers are but he had a hard time finding replacement ink for it. So I started reading reviews for all printers and canon had great reviews for most of their printers and found replacemnet ink all over ebay. I decided on the I850 and was very happy with it quiet, fast and great prints. I tried other "like canon" photo paper but soon learned to stick with genuine canon paper for best results. I was dissapointed the printer did not support 5x7 prints but turns out all i need to do was to download latest driver. Somehow after installing the driver the printhead went bad. Good thing it's still under warranty. Should I have to purchase another printer will most likely purchase another canon. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great value for a good printer
Affordability, quick printing, great resolution, and brilliant color make this printer a sound investment for any home office or small business. It can handle a wide variety of tasks--everything from digital pictures to black and white documents. While it is not the best printer around, you'll be hard-pressed to come up with a better value for your money.

THE PROS: This machine prints faster than a comparable Lexmark. It's resolution is also very high, guaranteeing that your pictures will always come out looking crystal-clear.It is easy to use and simple to install. And HP is famous for their printers, so you know you're getting a brand you can trust.

THE CONS: I wish the printer had an on-screen display showing how much ink was left in the cartridge (like a Lexmark). That's about the only major defect.

THE REST: Well, this is an Inkjet printer, which means you'll be spending plenty on ink.Still, unless you want to invest in a laser printer, this printer is the way to go. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Epson Stylus Color 670 is an ideal printer for the family or small office wanting fast, quality printing at a low price. It's unpretentious and easy-to-use, with convenient features to create splashy school reports, family projects, or office presentations. With a resolution of 1,440 x 720 dpi and a full range of software tools, the 670 delivers photo-quality color in practically no time. Plus, it's compatible with both PC and Macintosh.

The Epson 670 is designed for fast setup and use. It weighs in at only 15 pounds and has an impressively simple design, with a drop output tray and a snap-on input tray that holds up to 50 pages. First, we dropped in the two ink cartridges and waited the brief two minutes for the 670 to warm up. During setup, we noticed that the printer was a little noisy, but we also noticed there were handy color graphic instructions for replacing ink cartridges inside the lid. With one-button operation, we were able to begin printing without going through a long tutorial. Installing software was intuitive, and Epson's setup guide was highly detailed for clarity and effortless use. (And be sure not to miss the strange and eerie Fix-it Flix printer movies included on the CD-ROM.) More experienced printer owners should only need to take only a cursory glance at the set-up guide.

For all of its simplicity, the Epson 670 still performed well in our tests. We were able to print a variety of color and black-and-white text and graphic pages whose quality was very good for a printer in this price range.

Epson's PerfectPicture Imaging System is a combination of features that includes tiny ink jets, smooth AccuPhoto Halftoning, and quick-drying inks to produce rich, stable color. Flexible printing on a variety of papers and envelopes permits greater creativity in developing invitations, resumes, banners, and labels--and photo enhancement allows you to nuance tone, detail, and sharpness. Individual indicator lights let you know when ink cartridges are low. The software included with the 670 includes ArcSoft PhotoImpression 2000, Epson Software Film Factory, Trellix Web, and Stamps.com (for Windows). In-the-box accessories include a USB cable, black and color ink cartridges, and the Epson Printer Basics Guide. For support, Epson offers a highly navigable Web site and a one-year exchange-or-repair warranty. --David Greenberger

1-0 out of 5 stars 1 year wonder
I got this printer with my new Gateway system a little over a year ago andit died. Using less than 1 cartridge I would think it would last a littlelonger. The paper would lock into place and get stuck in that one place. Idon't recommend this printer

2-0 out of 5 stars How durable is it?
I have a Epson Stylus 600. The quality of the print is good, but, thequality of the printer is not. The printer only good for about 800 pages, then the nozzle broke, and the printer does not work any more. So is afriend of mine with his Epson Stylus 870.

I would like to doubt thedurability of Epson ink jet printers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Printer, But Very Noisy
I bought this printer recently and have used it for a couple monthsnow. As far as quality goes, this is as good as any Inkjet printer I've seen.We have an HP Inkjet printer also and this Epson printer cranks out just as good of results as the HP--the printers are very comparable. This Epson printer was about $10 cheaper than the HP 612, its counterpart...Another important thing about this printer: the ink refills aren't too bad (price-wise) compared to say, the Lexmark Z11, this printer's counterpart in the Lexmark brand. The refills aren't any more expensive than the average Inkjet printer. My only complaint with this printer is that it makes terrible racket when printing. It is much, much, noisier than the HP printer and as noisy of a printer as I've heard.May not be an issue with most people, merely an annoyance. The main thing is quality and this printer passes with flying colors.Oh, one more key thing about this printer: it is USB compatible. You will be very hard-pressed to find another USB compatible printer at this price. If you can get past the noise of this printer, I highly recommend it.Epson is a solid printer manufacturer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dead on printing + simplicity + compatibility
I've had my Epson for nearly a year now and it performs just great. I have PC and Mac and really needed connectivity. The serial and parallel made the decision easy for me.Add USB as the new standard to most computers -life is good. The speed is not lightening fast, but this doesn't bother mebecause I'm not a print shop. The print quality is outstanding; especiallyif you use glossy paper. The color matching from a range of applicationslike Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand, and QuarkXpress, etc. is alsovery good.

The only hick-up was when the print head flew into the farleft side and thought it was printing on paper. Using the simple utilitysoftware to correct this got me right back on track. The only othertrouble is the connectivity from my PowerBook G3. Sometimes you need toturn the printer on first, then boot the portable. The software bundlesitself in your print/print setup of whatever software you're using. It'sstraight forward and allows quite a bit of control is you really want totweak stuff out.

Regardless of the small hiccups, both on the PC MS98/NTand Mac platforms - I haven't had and major problems. If you are lookingfor value and decent print quality, look no further.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use & install
I got this, not having installed a printer before, and I was terrified.Thankfully, it was easy for me to install, and it has been very easy to use!

The images print out clearly, and quite quickly.I have run this onboth my old AMD K6, and my current computer, a Pentium III, and on both ithas performed quite well.

My family has always purchased epson products, and I see why, I'm very satisfied with my purchase! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SiPix A6 Portable Printer
This thermal paper uses small rolls to print on - requiring no ink. It's small, lightweight (except with 4 "AA" batteries) and can receive data via its IrDA port OR serial connection. This did not work with my Jornada 680e but did with a iPad 19xx so it may not work with older PDAs (though, it was designed to work with Palms). You *can* use it with a desktop or laptop but you simply cannot install the drivers and "voila!" The properties of the connection between the printer and computer must be manually modified for it to work properly - but when you get it to work, it's perfect. I use it to print receipts and it is absolutely fantastic. I suppose the only "downside" to it is that paper for it is pretty expensive...the starter rolls aren't going to be enough to do much with so plan on looking for CUT or ROLL (preferably) cheap.

1-0 out of 5 stars NO DRIVERS
I was very disapointed by the fact that this printer is not compatible with any palm OS 5 enhanced devices (such as the Zire series, or tungsten sreies) Bummer. So if you have an older handheld with below 3.0 OS or if you have higher than 3.5 it simply won't work! I hope this information helps you.
I really have no Idea what the printer is like considering I can't use it perhaps I van someday

4-0 out of 5 stars SiPix A6 & Dell Axim X5
On impulse I bought the Sipix A6 printer, brand new,(for a mere 19 bucks!) after checking it's compatibility with my invoicing software -Lowfat Invoice. However, I DID NOT check whether there were any known issues with the Dell Axim X5 and I was unaware of the wonderful people at AXIMSITE.COM.

Soooo, the unit arrives. I giggle. I Take it out the box, pop in the CD and there were only drivers for 2000/98/ME and Palm. %$!!&#! I'm running XP Pro and PPC 2002. I google and search for drivers. I found these: http://www.sipixdigital.com/support/PocketPrinterA6/drivers.shtml and I'm printing in XP - Woo Hoo! Load the CE drivers, attempt to print from LowFat - nuthin. %$!!&#! I made several attempts of removing and reinstalling the drivers, even changing the location (SD Card, main memory, built-in storage) -all, to no avail. Then I spot a thread response in Aximsite Forums by zipidydoda that recommended removing all the expansion cards and reloading the drivers. So I:

1) Remove my SD Cardand the compact flash card
2) Did a soft reset
3) Put it in the USB Cradle
4) Used ActiveSync to remove the Sipix Printer Driver (if you get an error stating that a file is still loaded in memory you may have to tap> Start> Settings> System> Memory >Running Programs> Stop all - however, doing a soft reset before this step should help you avoid any errors)
5) Did a soft reset (after taking it out of the cradle)
6) Put it in the USB Cradle
7) Reinstalled the driver (location provided above)
8) Turned Axim off(after taking it out of the cradle) -this was also part of the instructions provided by Sipix
9) Turned Axim on
10) Print from A6print (tap > Start>Programs> A6print -it is best to choose a small txt file for quick printing)
11) Voila !!

So I'm printing -Woo Hoo! I try it in Lowfat -same error as before "Unable to Establish Infrared Link". What?!!? Just as I was about to chunk the thing -I thought long enough to calm down and approach it as if it were an error on a desktop. Since it's the IR port that's not jiving, I thought it could possibly be a transfer rate issue. I go into Lowfat> Tools> Print> Advanced> More Settings. There was no setting for IR Port Speed and the one for the Serial Port was defaulted at its lowest settings. I unchecked "Alternate IR Connection" and "IR Buffer Adjustment".Prayed -attempted to print...

Thank God!!!!! I'm printing -not only can I print with the A6Print and A6Capture utilities but I can print from LowFat Invoice too!

Sorry this was so lengthy but I didn't want anyone else to have to spend a whole business day trying to get their Sipix A6 to work -or worse...give up. I hope this helps somebody.

God Bless,
Axzym

5-0 out of 5 stars Super pint-sized printer
I have just bought this printer, and let me say, it is the best device that I have bought for my sony Clie.I am running Palm OS 4.1, and it works great.I downloaded the IRprint and Doctoprint combo demo from IRprint.com.It has good quality print, for pure text. The only problem that I have found is that it is sometimes hard to get a perfect lineup between the IR ports, but that might just be my handheld.Overall, I would say, go out and buy it.It has a definate cool factor. If you need a printer for documents to go, sheet to go, or any of the built in palm apps, get this one!!

1-0 out of 5 stars May be great for Palm or laptop, Lousy for Pocket PC.....
Will not work with the new Dell Axim or most 2002 version of Pocket PC.Sipix has said "They are working on the problem" for at least a year that I know of.How hard would it be to write a driver for these handhelds?Tech support refuses to reply by e-mail and only by phone which takes 45 minutes to connect.Works OK with laptop and other than the paper only lasts for 20 printouts per roll and the curl is hard to get out it works good.

Make sure if you buy one of these that you can send it back if it won't work with your device. ... Read more
