Amazon.com Product Description

The KX-TG2355S from Panasonic is a 2.4 GHz cordless phone with a built-in answering system and caller ID/call waiting compatibility. It utilizes the 2.4 GHz band and employs digital spread spectrum technology to provide a clear, accurate signal, while Panasonic's Voice Enhancer technology reproduces more of the frequencies used in human speech than traditional phones do. Caller ID stores up to 50 numbers in its internal memory, while a talking caller ID feature announces the name and number of the incoming caller. A 50-number internal phone directory helps you to keep track of all your important phone numbers, and the display-and-dial feature lets you scroll through either the phone directory or caller ID list and dial the displayed number simply by pressing talk.

Handset and base speakerphones combine with headset compatibility to provide hands-free communication methods, while handset and ringer controls allow you to adjust volume levels to your liking. Dual keypads allow you to dial from either the base or the handset, and an illuminated keypad makes dialing in poorly lit environments a snap. A page button on the base makes finding a lost handset quick and easy, and an intercom function lets you talk between handset and base locations. A conferencing feature lets both the base and handset speak with an outside party, and a call transfer function lets you route calls from the base to the handset and vice-versa.

The all-digital answering machine has up to 16 minutes of recording time and a maximum message length of three minutes. Flash memory automatically preserves your messages in case of a power outage, while remote operation allows you to manage your messages even when you're away from home. The NiMH batteries have a talk time of up to five hours, with a standby life of up to 11 days. The KX-TG2355S is wall-mountable and comes backed by a one-year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars I couldnt talk without it !
I have had the phone for over four years now and i love everything about it. With most cordless phones you have to get more then one type and with this one you can get just another handset and if your not near the hand set or your to lazy to find it just pick up on the speakerphone. What isn't there to love about it. If you are looking for a long lasting good quality phone this is the one for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pooly designed keypad
The keypad on this phone is very small and gave out on me just after a year.I see that VTECH uses a similar keypad on newer models.Beware and don't waster your $.

3-0 out of 5 stars Excellent features, mediocre signal
First off, for its price, this phone has a very nice features. I love having a hansfree speakerphone on both the base and the handset. The phone does everything I need to do. I was very impressed with it when I got it. I'd give it 5 stars on its features/price alone.

Unfortunately I have to give it 3 stars, because of its mediocre signal quality. This phone is simply unusable around any type of 2.4GHz interference, particularly 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networks. Long antenna shaped objects nearby also tend to cause interference. I knew these limitations before I bought it, and I figured it would be okay because I need to use this phone in my dorm room, which is not very big, so signal issues wouldn't really be an issue. But having said that, I can't go too far outside my room before the signal drops to unusable.

5-0 out of 5 stars A W E S O M E ! ! ! !
You have got to choose this phone - I have had it for two years, and can easily say I will never switch!!!! It has NEVER given me a problem - The intercom feature is nice, and the speakerphone on the handset is the clearest around!!! A definate pick!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice features but poor sound quality
I bought and used a lot of phones over the years. Had old 48mhz cordless phone, 900 mhz phones, 2.4 ghz phones. My take so far is that 900mhz is better than any of those other cordless phones. I don't know why. Also Uniden seems to be better on sound quality. The VTech 2431, my newist edition, has lots of features, #1 speaker phone at handset, handy when you try to dial for tech support or bank, you can go through the automated menu like a pro without tiring your hand or neck. and it is quite nice, the sound quality is better than the reqular handset.
#2. Multiple handsets up to 4. Well, I learned my lesion, never try to register more then 4 phones, cause you can't. I had to return one handset due to malfunction, guess what, it won't let me register the replacement. Had to buy a brand new one base unit. #3. spare battery charge in the base which also helps the phone when power is out. That is a very nice feature. #4 it won't interfer with your 8011.b wireless network. Very nice, I had a panasonic which will cut my wireless if I use it.

In the end, I still loves my 3 year old uniden which is loud and clear. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Uniden will not repair this!
I purchased this phone and it was defective.Amazon has been great to work with. They offered to let me return it ... but I decided to send it back to Uniden to get it repaired. They made me pay to ship it back and then sent me a bill for the repair and the cost to ship it back to me.After 30 minutes on hold I was told they would pay to ship it back to me, but would not cover the cost since it was refurbished.I only sent the item back because their customer service department told me they would fix it.

I would NOT buy this or any Uniden product.Thank goodness Amazon is so easy to work with at least I'm not going to be stuck with a brand new phone that never worked. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great phone
I had a simpler AT&T wireless phone. The phone was good, but the battery started not holding a charge long and it was cheaper to buy another phone than replace the battery, so I went phone looking. This one is really a great one, with a lot of features that you generally see in phones that cost twice this.

What I really like about it:Two lines. Each lines are clearly displayed with their own settings. You can control the ringer on the be base and the phone itself. You can have the base ring - or not - as each line has its own high, medium and off switch.Have one right and not the other.Turn both off.The same option with the handset. Each line can ring on the handset or not.Have 1 ring and 2 off. This is handy for Fax set ups.

The programing is simple. You want a distinct ring for each line, then you click it that line, punch 1,2,3,4 on the number pad and it will change the tone.Click select and you are ready. This is handy with two lines - you can have a separate ring for each. The button for each is clearly set on the handset.1 and 2 buttons that are dial tone buttons. The volume for the handset it on the side. You don't have to change that in menu like I've always done on other wireless. So you can change this in the middle of the call without peeping in the callers ear!

It has mute controls for the base and the handset - for both lines again.Speaker-phone on the base.So if the handset is left at the other end of the house you can still take calls from the base.Hold, line-in-use indicator, a data port, intercom, pager, base-dialling and 2.4 GHz make this one sound like the caller is in the other room.50 name in directory. The handset it nice and "solid".Read out for caller ID easy to read for this baby boomer.

So for the price you really cannot beat this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good phone with unique feature combinations
There may be better cordless phones but this had the right combo of required features that were hard to match in other products - it supports 2 lines, caller ID, has an alert light for phone company voicemail, had a keypad on both the base and the handset, speakerphone, etc. Also, it uses 2.4Ghz channel 1 and to date it hasn't conflicted with my two 802.11 Wi-Fi network access points running on channels 6 and 11.

The main annoyance so far is a loud clicking sound on the handset earpiece when a call comes in on the other line, even with the alternate line ringer turned off. If you get freequent calls on a secondary line that might be a consideration.

2-0 out of 5 stars A good phone is hard to find
I spend around 90 bucks for this phone at staples for my small home based business. At first it seems to have a lot of neat features but falls short when it comes to call quality. I have friends with $15 v-tech phones that sound better than this! There is static on the line and the tones for the buttons are so loud they'll blow your eardrums out while the voice tones stay too quite to hear. They are both on the same speaker so you can't adjust them independently. I suggest AT&T go back to the drawing board on this one. If I was going to spend $70-$90 on a phone again I would definately not buy this one. I think I will have to resort to buying a much more expensive phone to get the quality needed for a business phone although I've heard that even at $500 there's a lack of call quality. I may be switching to a VOIP system anyway so maybe I'll have better luck in that market.

1-0 out of 5 stars No voice-mail feature
If like me you're buying this phone after reading the feature "visual message-waiting indicator" and thinking that this phone has a voice-mail system, then read this: this phone does not have a digital answering system in-built! It just uses your phone company's voicemail indicator (if you have that facility). So I am returning mine. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst phone ever
Hard to dial.

Confusing keypad.

And to top if off, likes to hang up on people while it "searches for base".

One of the worst things I have ever bought.

2-0 out of 5 stars Reception isn't as good as expected
As well when plugging in a headset to the handset there's an irritating high pitch noise that is unfixable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone!
I bought the VTech 20-2431 base and 3 additional handsets six months ago for home use.I needed two lines and caller ID but did not need an answering machine as I use SBC CallNotes.I have been extremely pleased with the performance of these phones. The speakerphone on the base and the handsfree operation on the handsets have been nice features which I hadn't anticipated using as much as I have.Another unexpectedly great feature is the "message waiting" light which flashes when there's a new message on my SBC voice mail.I've also found the paging feature to be helpful in locating "lost" phones. The telephone range and battery life are exceptional.I highly recommend this phone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Interupted calls
I would not recommend this phone.I bought it for a small office. If you are talking on line 1 and line 2 rings, the handset beeps in your ear with every ring and interrupts line 1 creating segments of dead air, much like call waiting does.Very annoying in a business setting where the second line can ring multiple times during a business call. When I called vtech to find out what was wrong, I was told nothing was wrong, that was how this phone worked. This is worthless as 2 line phone. Also sound quality is like talking into a tin can.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone - Feature packed!!
With 6 people in the house, 2 lines and many handsets are essential. The quality of the phone is great with no static even on the far end of the house with the base on a different floor. Our handsets are in constant use and see the base rarely except at night. The charge will last all day but if left off the charger overnight, it will be dead in the morning. When using the phone company's voicemail system, the handset has a clear led that indicates voicemail is waiting. The handset has a fantastic form factor fitting very comfortably in use.
Line 2 rings even if line 1 is in use and caller id comes through if you have call waiting regardless of which line you are using.

Desired improvements: pager button on the remote bases (you can page from another handset or the main base). I also wish the intercomm would go directly to broadcasting through the speaker of the handset without requiring a person to pick it up. When saving a number to memory, there should be an option to save it to all handsets.

Without going to the $400 price point, this phone beats all others in this category! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Get what you pay for....
I bought this phone because I wanted a cordless phone with an answering machine (all 1 unit) for my kitchen, but I didn't want to spend very much.Well, with the answering machine, itis very difficult to understand the messages.I have to listen to them from the handset. And the clarity in the handset is awful! Not only is there an echo of my own voice in the earpiece, but it picks up every little sound from the room and amplifies it.It is also very difficult to hear the person on the other end.But what should I have expected from a $13 phone.(Of course it was $30 when I bought it.)I should have just waited and spent the extra money on a better phone as now I am on the search for a new better quality phone.

1-0 out of 5 stars liz
if you have friends who leave real long meassages on phones and you would like to avoid this this phone would be great it consistantly cuts people off after 5 or 8 words and the sound quality is pretty poor.the volume is usually so low and you can never tell how many message you have or erase a skipped messsage you have to hear all your annoying message first. I just bought this a couple of months ago and am now planning on replacing it.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's a fine phone, if you don't need your messages.
This is a typical, low-cost phone, and it works about how you'd expect. The signal doesn't carry strongly through 4 walls -- whatever.

The main problem is the ease with which you can erase the message you're about to listen to, when you mean to be erasing the one you've just heard. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Cordless Phone Ever!!!
I purchased this phone to replace a single handset 900 Mhz Uniden phone that I loved.Since I am a gadget junkie I decided to go with the 2.4 Ghz, and to my surprise it was much worse.I read someone else's review that compared it to a cell phone, but my cell phone is more clear.I would recommend no one purchase this phone. It is a great concern that you can not even count on consistency from the manufacturers of cordless phones.Every time I buy a new phone, I always end up buying a different brand in order to find the quality I am looking for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Already Own Uniden TRU4485-2
I purchased the TRU446-2, because I wanted to add two more headsets to my existing Uniden TRU4485-2.Of course, good idea, bad implementation. The headsets are not compatible even though they look identical.Turns out the "-2" means that the maximum amount of headsets that will work with either base unit is two.So, instead of working as one base with four headsets, I really have two bases with two headsets each.Funtionally, I'm able to do what I originally wanted. However, I have to make sure the right headset goes on the right base!Nonetheless, I decided to keep them.Besides, I paid only $54 at Target for the TRU446-2.I'm happy with the headsets as they do what they are supposed to do.Sound quality is not the greatest, but I've never had a problem hearing or speaking. My only complaint is one of the headsets voice goes out.I have to bang it on the counter to get it to kick in.Once it works, it works fine.I have a feeling this is a defect as I've seen this complaint in another review.I'm hoping this does not occur on the other headsets. If it does, then I will give up on Uniden and buy a better quality system.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value and an extra phone
What I like most about this phone is the extra hand set that does not need to be conected to a phone line. The main phone is coneceted to a line and the expanded is not allowing it to be very mobile. The only drawbacks are it is asmall phone so the buttens are tight and smal. As others have mentioned the charging station is a bit loose. Al in all I feel that it was a great deal for $65.

Edited on Dec 13 2004: After using the phones for almost a year. I will say I am happy with them BUT, If you have a wireless internet setup it will interfear with it and cause you to loose your connection. If you are shopping for a cordless be sure to get one that is a different MHZ than your wireless router.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product, only a few drawbacks
This phone system is generally a good product.I have had it for over a year and have not seen any of the problems stated in the negative reviews. It has some drawbacks though.1) You cannot use two of these phones at once, they use the same receiver and therefore the first phone on occupies the line.2) You cannot transfer memory contents between phones as some product can.3) It is no better in range than a quality 900MHz phone, but this is true of many 2.4GHz phones.4) While talking, the phone transmissions will conflict with most home wireless PC networks.

On the plus side, it is a quality product with easy to use controls (as opposed to the Seimens units). The mute is relatively easy to use and the remote ear/mic jack is useful for headsets. The battery charge lasts longer than I've ever required.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great range! Great phone! Great buy!
I love this phone system! I bought it over a year ago and I still love it! The clarity is near-perfect, the range limit is great, and I love that you only need to plug it into one phone jack! The best part is storing personal phone numbers and then assigning them their own ring tone, so I always know who's calling before I answer the phone or even check the caller ID! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Recommended
I bought this phone and 1 additional handset about 3 years ago.It worked well for about a year.First the LED screen on one phone went blank, now the LED on the second phone has also gone blank.Sound quality is generally poor.I originally purchased this because of the price - one of the least expensive multi handset cordless phones. Not worth it.I'm now looking to replace the system.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does not have all the functionality listed
I bought this telephone specifically because it is listed by Amazon as having speakerphone functionality. On receiving the telephone I found that this is not the case. The misrepresentation by Amazon has caused me considereable inconvenience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good features and quality for the price.
This is a pretty good cordless phone that is priced much lower than other units, but still manages to maintain par with them in terms of quality and features.

PROs:
-low price
-one-year warranty
-light and feels ergonomic
-nice button feel
-good reception
-good batterly life
-expandable handsets

CONs:
-occasional echo on the line
-slightly more line noise than on some other phones
-ring sounds are mostly annoying

1-0 out of 5 stars Drops and Makes Clicking Noises
This is a terrible phone. The phone will constantly make clicking noises that only the caller on the other end will hear. There is a loud echo which makes it very annoying to talk with.

TERRIBLE PHONE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone!
I bought this phone with one additional accompany headset to see how it works.I've had it for over 6 months now (since this review) and so far I will have to say it's a great phone. It has many features that you will be able to read about from the product details or from another review here so I won't go into that.

The phone is sleak looking with changable colored face plates. It allows up to three additional headsets (sold seperately) to "link" to the base which is great. Not only do I used it as a phone but it works as an "internal" intercom system for my home.

The sound qualty is great and it's a pretty durable phone (God knows I've dropped it enough to find out!).Being on the computer as much as I am, I'm greatful for the ability to pluga headset to it which I use when I need to carry it around the house while on the phone.

It hooks up right up with my phone companies services that I have.I'm not sure how it does it but it tells me when I have messages waiting in my "message box"... etc.

I reccomend this phone to anyone who wants a reiable and expandiable phone "system" without paying too much for it. :) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible phone
I was never able to get any level of acceptable reception on this phone and ended up replacing it with a used Toshiba phone that puts this one to shame. The only positive I can think of about this phone is that at least I didn't waste much money on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone & Value
We love this phone. It gets great reception and is very durable. It is constantly getting knocked off the couch onto the floor or dropped and it is still works as great as it did a year ago when we bought it.I love the large talk button. We are getting one just like this for my elderly father-in-law as it is comfortable to use and the buttons are easy to read. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK DONT BUY
i HAVE A PANASONIC 2.4 GHz MODEL NO. KX-TG2235B,EVERY TIME I PLUG IT IN ALL THE LIGHTS ON BASE(CHARGE,SPEAKERPHONE,V/M) LIGHTS JUST CONTINUSLY BLINK OFF AND ON,PHONE WILL NOT EVEN WORK OR CHARGE,PANASONIC WONT PAY FOR S&H TO FIX OR THE PARTS NEED TO FIX

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad phone - little help from Panasonic
While using this phone it will cut out for about 5 seconds while it switches to another security code. During this time you cannot hear the other person on the line and they have to repeat what they said. This happens every time I use the phone. I called Panasonic and they said to send it in (I pay the shipping cost) and they will replace it with a "reconditioned" phone. The phone is about a month old.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't buy
Can't understand a word it says.

3-0 out of 5 stars Take Note!
Some good things to know before buying:
1. The talking caller ID doesn't 'play" until after the 2nd ring.By that time, if you realize you want to pick up the call, you have very little time before the answering machine or voicemail picks up.It also announces the calls as they are displayed on CID (i.e. you have a call from "Smith John".Why couldn't the software reverse the last and first names!?Very annoying
2. Voice enhancing feature is useless. The calls sound worse, ambient noise is amplified.
3. 90% of my calls sounded great but 10% of the time I did experience a signficant echo. This was enough for me to return the phone.
4. You cannot use the base keypad while speaking on handset (unlike other Panasonic models)

1-0 out of 5 stars No Good for Me...
This phone had horrible sound quality. You sound like you are in an echo chamber when you speak into it and you don't sound so good on the other end either so I am told. I returned mine within a few days. ... Read more
