1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Phone, Static, Bad Reception

I buy 3 all they have very bad recepcion even being near the Handsets,, a lot of static, the functions are a mess
don't throw your money buy another phone !!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This phone has some nice features and is easy to operate. But this phone's range is poor.We can hear static when using the receiver at the opposite end of our house, and when I carry it outside, I can go no farther than about 150 feet before it loses its signal and cuts off.Like most people, we have had numerous cordless phones over the years, of several major brands.Although this one is easy to understand and operate, it has the shortest range of any of them.We will keep it, as it works "OK" indoors, but will be in the market for a better phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me.
So far this is the best phone I have ever owned. I got this same phone in the two headset version. <br /> There are several things I like about this phone:<br /> - Ring tone is pleasant and can be made quiet or off entirely.<br /> - answering machine voice is easy to understand and not very machine sounding<br /> - you can dial the number and hit talk like on cell phones<br /> - The audio thus far has been crystal clear, i haven't heard a single snap or pop yet.<br /> - programming is very straight forward and simple, didn't have to read the manual to figure out most of the setup<br /> - batteries work well as so far I haven't had either phone go dead yet. But its brand new so the batteries should do well right now.<br /> <br /> Overall the phone is great. Others who have issues likely got a phone with problems. If you get one without issue, you will not be upset with your purchase.<br />

1-0 out of 5 stars This is a horrible phone
This phone is the worst I've ever seen.Bought it for more range. With my old phone I could go outside and get about 400 feet away and it would still work. This phone I couldn't even go in the other room without getting static or getting disconnect from the person I was talking to.It's just a very bad phone.

3-0 out of 5 stars I wish I knew ???
I would like to type a review for this phone but I am still waiting to receive it! It seems someone sent it, after I ordered and prepaid for it, to the wrong address and UPS then sent it back to amazon as undeliverable. That was yesterday but amazon still will not take the blame, they want ME to keep checking for reasons why I never received it!! This whole thing is sickening! Is this phone any good? I wish I knew. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible, Terrible phone!!
We have had this phone for about a year. After about 3 - 6 months, the display on one of the handsets started to fade. Now it's totally gone. The display on the other handset is now 3/4 gone.We have also experienced the sporadic beeping while the phone is in use.We thought that this brand name would be one of the better ones.Boy were we wrong! This was such a waste of money, too bad we've had it so long.Otherwise, we'd try and get our money back.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked Great for a while then look out phone turns on you!!
I had purchased this phone system like others because the price was such a good value so I thought. It was not long before the caller ID display started fading then completely went out on both handsets. Then theirs that problem with the talk buttons on both handsets sometimes they work sometimes they don't. This phone system is a waste of your money. Please Don't buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars My Display Went Out Too...
On both handsets. Now my caller ID is useless. Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good for a while, then blank!
These phones were great for us, sound ok, but now after about 2 years, two of the three screens are out.I have not tried to put in a new battery because the phone still works, and they cost about 29.00 bucks.I am disappointed in the quality as well as so much of the electronics out there these days. The old phones still work great, but too bad they are not cordless.

1-0 out of 5 stars keep looking
I have had the same problem everyone else has had with these phones display is fading and line problems. I made the mistake of buying two more additional handsets they do not have problems yet but Im sure it is just a matter of time. My advice is keep looking do not buy this phone! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Phone
Reception is acceptable.Caller ID window is very small and the text font in it is incredibly small. After four months the speaker starting going in and out during every call.Sometimes the speaker would go out for a couple minutes at a time. Now I'm back buying another phone, not GE this time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
We have had this crappy phone for one year. and its like we had it for 6 years. it won't dial the correct number, it makes loud funny noises, you have to press the key pad very hard to dial, and it doesn't last as long off charge like they say...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Purchase
I am very happy with my purchase. The best part about the phone is the headset. The quality of the headset is very good.I also like the message-waiting feature. The phone will blink when you have a new message on your voicemail. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars No good!
Yes this phone has all the bells and whistles of a great phone but what good does a phone do you if you can't hear the person your calling or is calling you! Regardless of which channel I switched to, the volume (not a static issue) actually got worse. I was very disapointed because I always have liked V-Tech phones I have gotten in the past but this is not one I would recommend!

2-0 out of 5 stars HUH, WHAT DID YOU SAY???
this phone looks great in design, the answering machine is perfect with its three vm boxes, but there's just one major problem.........NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU & YOU HAVE TO SAY THINGS 5x BEFORE THEY DO!!! i sincerely wanted to love this phone, b/c the style and design are totally me. my entire office is silver and black, from my computers, to printers, to desk, etc.

in addition, i have, and run, three businesses that share the same central incoming phone and fax lines, so i really need the 3 vm boxes that this unit offers. the answering machine works perfectly, as well as the base unit itself, however, the handset itself feels like a hollow, empty, kids toy, that doesn't really have any components inside of it-it feels and operates cheap [it even dials as slow as pulse does, with a delay after pressing the buttons]. as stated before in all caps, you can hear them fine, but they can't hear you at all. you have to speak very loud and repeat yourself over and over and over again......... i also tried three different handsets with this unit as well, and the problem still remained.

i had this unit for three days and returned it. i replaced it with the motorola ma362, which doesn't have three vm boxes, but it does offer everything else the vtech did, plus backlit keypad, and the look and feel of a real 'land-line' phone. the best part of all, i can hear them, and above all, they can hear me, and very very well!!

before i buy anything, i usually do about 3-6 mos of comparitive research with other products, reviews, and i only buy good name brand products, and always the best they offer for my needs. so, my advice is to NOT buy this unit, but to buy the motorola instead. the price point is the same, around or just under $40, and aside from the 3 vm boxes, the motorola is much more bang for your buck! i love and have owned other vtech phones, but i cannnot recommend this one. big thumbs down until they improve the handset feel, operation, and volume!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
I got this as a wedding gift July 2003.I have had no problems with it at all.I love the phone.Good battery too.I can keep the hand set off the charger for hours and it will still work.My old cordless could not be off the charger longer than 20 minutes or it would die.I love that the answering machine has 3 mail boxes. Now no one in my family looses their messages.Overall I give it two thumbs up.

2-0 out of 5 stars I can't hear you!
I have been looking for a decent cordless with answering system for my home office. The instructions for volume control on the handset aren't very clear, so after messing around with a headset and so on I finally figured it out.The volume on the handset can be adjusted only when the phone is on with the arrow keys.I had the phone for over a week and was ready to return it before I had figured this out. The Answering system is easy to use, and remote access is a breeze.

2-0 out of 5 stars I can't hear you!
I have been looking for a decent cordless with answering system for my home office. The handset volume is abysmal, I have to turn everything in the house off and the fan on my notebook is louder than the person I am speaking with on the phone. The Answering system is easy to use, and remote access is a breeze.Too bad I don't have super human hearing, but then, if I could spend the money on that I probably should have bought a more expensive telephone. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Cool looking, can't set time, lousy quality
Okay...i'll admit I was sold by the translucent tangerine faceplate and the blinky lights. I was also sold by the fact that I could actually turn off the ringer (somthing not found in most of the cheap models). The price is right...it's cheap and "disposable". So...it does the job and earns some stars.

What the phone doesn't do is why I it only gets 2 stars.Sure, you can set up options and language, BUT YOU CANNOT SET THE TIME!!!Stupid. Waiting for a callerID call to set the time by is just silliness that is NOT explained in the manual.Duh.

The sound quality is tin-box and the range is sub-standard.I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS PHONE IF YOU HAVE A WI-FI BASE STATION. Seriously...i could hear the "tick-tick-tick" background noise of my router over this phone. They are on the same frequency and simply do not play well together.

Oh well....it's good enouh to throw in my garage and use as a spare just in case.

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the Most crapy phone in Amazon
I hate this piece of crap. I dont call it as a phone. Its looks like toy. Never ever buy this phone. Voice quality is so bad that u cannot listen to other side voice. It will give all kind of noise and low voice. If u increase the volume it will cry like a hell but will not increase volume. I am going to throw this phone to trash.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap and annoying
The phone feels cheap, probably because it is. It looks pretty ugly, and, unless you're looking for something kitschy or you're a 12-year-old girl, the flashing LED lights don't help. I was unable to adjust the volume on the the handset, even when I followed the procedures in the manual. Pressing the volume +/- buttons just caused the handset to beep LOUDLY in your ear but failed to produce any discernable difference in the volume. Long story short, don't buy this. There must be something better, even at the low price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!!
I purchased this phone recently and would not recommend it unless you like to see the "dancing" light display. Make sure that you have another phone close by to actually answer the phone because this phone is not usable. The volume is too low and if you adjust it upwards there is a terrible feedback noise. It is simply not worth your time or money!

3-0 out of 5 stars "Caveat Emptor," whined the phone.
This phone's best feature is its price. If cost is your primary concern, this phone is for you. I mean, it's an acceptable phone. Everything works. Just barely, though.

Feels cheap: Not surprisingly so, but it may leave you feeling that maybe you should have spent more money on something a little more substantial and longer-lasting. The handset feels too light and flimsy in your hand.

Voice quality is so-so at best: The sound is tinny, with the occasional feedback squeal. This is not the phone for long conversations.

A lot of annoying little details: The ringer volume can't be adjusted. Each incoming call gets Caller ID'd and sets off a blinking red light at the base of the handset antenna. The instruction manual is anemic. (e.g. the user is left on their own to figure out that it automatically sets its internal clock when it gets its first Caller ID-able call) The interface is quirky, requiring you to use the "*" and "#" keys to page through its Caller ID log.

Not a bad phone for the money, but sadly, this is the 2.4GHz equivalent of those cheap 99-cent disposable lighters you see at the corner market store. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Phone!
Almost since the beginning this phone would beep ocassionally during a call, to the person I was calling, and just sort of go quiet on my end.I called Southwestern Bell and they were not helpful, except to say to send it in.Which I refused to do.From other reviews, it seems this is a defect of the phone. The screen also went blank after a year or so, like other reviewers have mentioned.I just got phone service that includes Caller ID and can't even see the number.I am now shopping for a new phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good, until...
I've had this phone system for just over 1 year (just out of warranty, naturally). It worked pretty well, with good sound and range. The answering machine was above average and had good features.Handset only holds 30 phone numbers in memory - which is very limiting for me.Now, for the really bad news --- A few weeks ago, I noticed the LCD screen characters on one of the handsets was starting to disappear.A few days later the other handset started doing the same. Now, just a few weeks later, both LCD screens are totally illegible.I have not dropped or misused these phones, so what's up SWBell?I won't be buying another Bell phone after this experience.

2-0 out of 5 stars short life quality
We purchased 2 sets of these and the caller ID screens have gone out on 3 out of 4 units after 6 months. The sound quality on 1 is distant and faded, and on another it has a severe echo. Disappointed with the life and quality of the product for the money spent.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's ok, wouldn't buy it again
My husband & I bought this phone for the gHz and DSS technology. When we installed it, for the few couple weeks when we got a phone call, there was an echo sound. That ultimately went away, but recently there is a "beep" that occurs on the other side of the line.It sounds like I pushed one of the digits, but the person on the other side of the line hears the beep.On my side of the line, it sounds like the other person's call waiting beeped.I've called Southwestern Bell twice and have followed the instructions, to no avail. They want me to mail it in to be fixed.Such a hassle for an expensive phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Keep looking
My wife and I bought this setup in hopes of having more phones located throughout the house. That part worked out well. After approx. 3 months the caller id screens, which also displays the menu, quit displaying anything. Phones still work, you just can't see the number you are dialing, no big deal had to do this for so many years before. The volume must be constantly adjusted, it appears they have a feature built in to go to midrange volume everytime you answer the phone, not a bad idea, but as someone with a slight hearing problem it is quite annoying to have to increase the volume everytime I talk to someone.I tend to use my cell phone for local calls instead of the home phone now. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great speaker phone
I did not buy this for the speaker phone but I was amazed on the quality of sound of it.This phone lets you turn off the ringer ... which was important so it did not wake the baby ( the base lights-up when it rings). It could have had more options for the price, but it meets my needs well. Now, I wish I could turn off the handset locator buzzer since my child plays with it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality, Short battery life
Well, we've had pretty good luck with Panasonic cordless phones. Our first one was the best lasted for years clearest reception then we got a 900mhz one about a year and a half ago. The audio quality wasn't as good as the older one that wasn't even 900mhz, but it was acceptable. But recently the 900mhz has had problems. So we thought this would be a good simple choice, and should be better quality, and this one has the NimH battery so it should last longer(more charges), those Ni-Cd ones get expensive.
but NO, this thing is horrid, first the battery doesn't last long at all, so much for that as a plus. But the audio quality was horrible, it's like a bad cell phone, with drop outs and all kinds of digital garbling. It was useless. maybe someone in our area has a wireless router at the same frequency??? I don't know this was unusable. And yes, the microwave makes it even worse.Never had problems like this with any of our OLDER Panasonic phones but the new ones seem to be junk. It's too bad, they are all so cheap now, but no one seems to make a quality one. Still looking.

1-0 out of 5 stars Problematic
Awful awful sound quality, worse than the $20 Bell Northern phone with which I replaced it.Also the battery dies so fast that if you don't check the phone every six hours it dies before you can notice the "recharge" indicator blinking.Just being away at work for 8 hours is all the chance it needs for the battery to die even if when you left for work the recharge indicator wasn't lit..
Also the ring volume is very low, so if you happen to be watching a movie or listening to music when it rings it's easy to miss.

4-0 out of 5 stars My Second Cordless Phone
I bought this phone because my Uniden TRU 246 got to where nobody could hear me unless I used the headset jack. Not a problem since I primarily used the hands-free anyway, but I thought I'd look for something else. I tried looking for another Uniden, since I'd had my 246 for two years and still hadn't changed the battery yet, and I thought that was good life. However, the new Unidens are ugly! Since I'd read good things about Panasonic equipment, and I own one of their VCRs, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I've lived with this phone for over three months now, long enough to have formed some real impressions on it rather than rely on knee-jerk reactions to something I hadn't thoroughly lived with yet.

First, this phone is cheaper than I paid for the Uniden two years ago by over half. However, it doesn't have the memory storage for storing phone numbers, nor does it have the CallerID display. I thought I'd really miss both of these features, but I've never even had CallerID, and even with all the area codes I have to remember, it was really a pain having to program all of them in my other phone with a number pad. So I'm finding I don't miss the display that much.

Secondly, the ringtones are great! You have a choice of six. I have a very distinctive one now that rouses me from sleep whenever I hear it. This phone is better than the Uniden in that you have more volume settings than barely audible and wake-the-dead, and the round part up top flashes when it rings. Ironically, it'd be a great phone for the hard-of-hearing.

Thirdly, the phone comes in several colors. I chose the black one, 2208B. Choose another color and get a different letter at the end of the model number. The phone is also very attractively designed, and fits in my hand very well. If I get tired of holding it....get this...there is a SPEAKERPHONE built into the handset! I can put the phone in my apron or my jeans pocket and plug in a headset, or I can just set it down and use the speaker. Add a star for this feature!

But the most important feature for me was my phone HAD to have a lighted keypad. 90% of cordlesses don't have that for some ungodly reason. The 2208 won big points for that.

What I don't like about it? One, I prefer to hang the base on the wall, and while that's easily done with this phone, it doesn't lay flush with the wall like my Uniden did. It's really kind of an ugly set-up.

How about talk time? When I first reviewed this phone I didn't think I was getting the kind of time I was used to having with my first cordless. My friends and I are the type of people who are likely to call each other up and kill an entire weekend afternoon by watching figure skating competitions or awards shows together even though we're in different time zones. These shows can run well past four hours, so I needed a phone with stamina! That's why at first I was a little disappointed that my new phone starts to beep at me after three-and-a-half hours. Unlike the Uniden, though, it beeps for quite a while (half an hour) before it actually goes dead.

On the other hand, I favor the speakerphone a lot, and in the time I've had this phone I've figured out that the speakerphone uses up more juice than just holding the handset. When I refrain from using it exclusively I get the time I need for the most part. In fact, I was able to watch part of 60 Minutes plus all but the last 30 minutes of the Grammy Awards show with my friend in Boston before the phone went dead. So, I'm very pleased with the mileage I get from this cordless.

I think it's a great little phone. I've retired the Uniden altogether and am considering buying the CallerID model with answering machine. That way, when these awards shows run long, I'll have a backup!

2-0 out of 5 stars Looked Good....
I bought it because of a prior experience with a panasonic phone. I loved it, had it for almost six years(which isn't bad for a 900 mghz). This one looked good, the auto scan, speaker phone, nothing too fancy, but after 2 months reception is lousy, tried all suggestions, moved phone to every jack in my house, no improvement. Very disappointed. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Look Elsewhere
Within the 1st few weeks of owning the phone the cordless battery needed to be replaced.A few months later the cordless earpiece stopped producing sound.I've bought numerous $20 or less portables that are tougher and a better value. The base unit is fine but does nothing extraordinary that you can't get for less elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good combination of "Two Worlds"
This phone is a good combination of both the "corded" and the "cordless" worlds of phones. The corded "home station" of this phone will work even if the power is off, which is something many people overlook when buying a phone. The adjunct handset can be put anywhere there's an a/c outlet, and doesn't require a phone jack.

I have telephone company voice messaging, so the Message Waiting light is a real plus. The speakerphone has good sound quality. My only complaint is that the home station doesn't have any autodial keys for frequently called numbers. All stored numbers are in the main directory. Also, interestingly, there is no place on either station to record your own phone number.

However, my likes outweigh my dislikes on this phone, and I definitely recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great phone
The quality of this phone has turned me on to vTech again! The voice quality is great; only downside is the handset bade, which is poorly designed and rarely makes solid contact with the cordless battery. But the corded phone and speakerphone are great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone!
What a terrific system. The phones both work great and offer the flexablility of a cordless and the convienience of a corded phone, all in one package. The corded phone also has a speakerphone that actually sounds good and numerous other features.Well worth the money. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Keep shopping...
I bought this phone about 8 months ago after a thunderstorm killed my Uniden.Given the similarity of the menu options, I suspect the AT&T and Uniden models are actually made by the same OEM.

First, a rant:this phone (and the Uniden before it) has a "remote access" mode whereby you can control the answering machine remotely (listen to/delete messages, change greetings, etc). This mode is protected by a very weak 2-digit numeric code.First, it's unforgiveable to use such a weak code.Secondly, there doesn't appear to be a way to disable remote access!Bad.

Anyway, At 8 months, the phone is showing signs of failure.Beginning last week, the phone has stopped receiving callerid information. It merely displays ***RINGING***.Similarly, the call activity LED on the AT&T base console no longer flashes when a call has been received.Looking at some of the other reviews, it seems that my problems are not unique.

I think I paid $50 for this phone but whatever it was, it was too much given that it has lasted less than a year. For comparison, my other phone is a $7 no-name Wal*Mart special (it too has callerid and call activity LED).It has yet to miss a beat.

My recommendation to potential buyers is to keep looking.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT phone
I bought this phone on sale about 5 months ago at Walmart for $25! Best phone I ever had. It will stay charged for days at a time! I'm serious, I've left it off the hook to test it a few times. It never dies in under 5 days. The sound is great. You can adjust the volume about 5 different notches. With other phones, I was always struggling to hear the person on the other end but I've had no problems with this phone. It's pleasing on the eyes, holds tons of numbers and is simple to operate. You get a choice of 3 differnet rings and of course, all the obvious things like caller ID, an answering machine, etc. I'm not sure why mostly everyone else here has rated this product so low. I LOVE it! :)

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep shoping for another cordless phone.
I bought this model a little over a year ago, and I've had nothing but problems.Fortunately, AT&T will replace the defective phone while it is under warranty, this is the only good thing about this phone; so far I'm on my third phone and it's just now going on the fritz. Here are the problems I've had: The original phone I purchased stoped recharging because the contacts corroded.Customer service sent me a replacement and within a month the caller ID box stopped displaying incoming calls on the replacement, the caller ID box would just read "ringing" when a call came in.After another call to customer service I received my third, which no longer holds a charge because the handset slides forward in the base unit. All and all, I would never recommend buying this product (not even to my worst enemy), but the one good thing is the manufacturers warranty renews itself with every replacement...at this rate I'll get a new phone every few months for life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone
It is a nice phone. Good signal and easy to use. Works great for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good phone
The sound quality was really poor, worse than Panasonic KX-TGA2224, which in turn is worse than GE 27998GE6, which is good, but not as good as those SONYs they have sadly stopped making (yes, I personally have tried all of these). There is a reason they are putting the price down. These things, if they sell, they get returned (like I am doing). ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Sticky Buttons
I bought this phone as it had adequate features for what I need, along with a reasonable price tag.Iwas happy enough with the phone during the warrantee period (figures). Now, about a year and a half later, the touch pad keys are getting harder and harder to push. This is bad enough when trying to dial a phone number, but that much worse when I'm trying to use automatic phone services (such a refilling a prescription).I resent having to replace this item after such a short period. If I wanted a "disposable" phone I would have bought one.

Another short-coming that was immediately apparent:The date-time setting needs to be reset every time the electricity is interrupted, even when the electricity just blinks out and is immediately restored.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another Acceptable Device from General Electric
Cordless telephones are a must for most any household and I have owned my share of them over the years. This GE model is the one I most recently purchased (about three months ago) and so far it has proven to be an acceptable phone, but nothing special.

I like the caller id feature on this phone. It displays the caller name, time, date, and the number of caller id's currently stored in memory. The liquid crystal display is easy to read on the handset and it makes it simple to track and avoid unwanted calls. The 2.4 GHZ and 40 channel capabilities make it easy to hear who you are talking to.

On the other hand, I don't like the high- pitched tone that sounds when you press the buttons or delete a stored caller id. The pitch is quite unpleasant to the ears and General Electric needs to improve this. I also have a problem with deleting caller id's from the memory because I think it takes too many steps. And I don't like the limited speaker phone. It only works in conjunction with the built- in answering machine. You cannot use it for listening to voice mail if you subscribe to your own service.

Still, I'm going to rate this phone in the middle of the pack. It does have its share of flaws, but it still performs the important tasks that I expect. I knew when I purchased the phone that there were more sophisticated choices, but these other phones often cost twice as much. With this model of GE phone, I guess you could say I got what I paid for: an adequate phone that will suit most families' needs, but nothing to brag about.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Phone But Battery Problems
I thought this phone was great for the first four months I had it. Then the phone kept beeping at me and saying low battery. To change the battery I spent about $17.This battery lasted about 5 months. I'm buying my 3rd battery after only having the phone for just over a year.Giving it one more try.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
Bought this and had it for about a week. The sound quality was very clear, but the problem was that I couldn't change the volume of the ringer. If I wasn't in my room I couldn't hear it ring anywhere else in the house. Plus it didn't have that many features. I returned it today and bought a VTech, it's a brand that has worked well in the past for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very dissapointed
I bought this phone from wal mart last week, and got it set up and it was great. I was very happy with it, but now less than 5 days since I purchased it, it has stopped working. It all powers up but the phone wont communicate with the base. I can still receive messages on the base but the phone is useless. It powers up but turns off since their is no communication. To make matters worse, I already lost the receipt since I was very pleased when it all worked so I threw away the receipt and cannot return it now. So now I am out 40 bucks and I wasted a whole day just trying to decide which phone to get and then it dies a few days later. Maybe I should just get rid of my phone line altogether and stick to email. >:O ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Reasonable phone for a reasonable price
I've had this phone for almost 2 years. Works fine anywhere in my apartment, but part of that is probably good selection of the base location. Sound quality is excellent, battery life good. I get no interference from any one else or from other equipment, and I have at least 3 wireless networks in range of this phone. Even better, the phone doesn't interfere with them! A little funky to program and set up, but okay. Features that would be great to have: battery backed clock; easy access to ringer volume control. I wrote this review because I saw a lot of people slagging this phone and it didn't seem balanced because its worked okay for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice features....Flawed engineering
This phone comes in several flavors, silver and gold (1460) trim.
My experience is with the 1460. I had all the same problems that were already mentioned. The phone comes with many nice features, but the basic operation is inferior. Range issues with going through just one wall at 10 feet, constant background static, and your own voice is played back too loud and with static, through the ear piece. A similar problem low cost Uniden 2.4G experience.Note, this is not a true 2.4Gig phone, only the base transmits at 2.4GHz, the handset transmits at 900 MHz according to the owner's manual.I returned it and got a Motorola 362 in the same price range. Fewer features, but works well and good sound quality.

1-0 out of 5 stars AT&T 2.4gig 1455 phone
If it has an AT&T logo on it, don't get it. I have had this phone for about a year. I dealt with the static because this phone wasn't my main one. The problem I have with this phone now; the handset cannot connect with the base unit. I put a new battery in it, and followed everything the manual and what I could find on the web said to do and still it can't connect. Totally useless. I would return it but unfortunately I did not buy it at Target. I got it at the now closed Service Merchandise. This phone now sits in a pile of my other AT&T "goods?".

I do not recommend this phone.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Disappearing Caller ID and Garbled Messages
A co-worker purchased the same phone and had the same problem. The display on the caller ID is very faint, difficult to read, and often parts of the letters and numbers are missing. The sound quality on the messages is kind of muffled, and when you turn up the volume, that only makes it worse. We've seen these phones discounted down to $$, so you'd be crazy to pay full-price for this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Phone
This phone works well. I live in a large apartment complex and have never had problems with picking up other people's conversations or major static interference. The handset was somewhat awkward the first few times I used the phone; the ear piece is a little too flat and the curve of the back of the phone is not quite right. However, after a few uses, I grew accustomed to it and I am quite happy with this phone. The answering machine is easy to use and can store many messages. The answering machine remote access feature is also very convenient. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars BAD !!!!!!
THIS PHONE SUCKS , YOU CAN HARLY HEAR ON IT AND THE BATTERY LIFE IS TERRIBLE , RINGS ARE LIMITED AND IS AN ALL AROUND A BAD PHONE .

5-0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAT I EXPECTED, has features like your cell phone...
I read the reviews on this phone before buying and was a bit skeptical because of some of the negatives, but took a chance. I work out of my home so a good phone is important to me. So far this phone is more than I expected. (I've had it about 3 weeks)It was the only phone that had everything I was looking for: spread spectrum (for privacy), compactness, large lcd screen, hold function, speakerphone, intercom (didnt think I would use this but it IS handy), and built in phone directory (like my cell phone). I don't even have call waiting but the phone does that too, of course. But even so the phone directory is a real time saver. It holds up to 50 numbers and you scroll up and down. Simplicity is also important to me and I don't like a lot of unnecessary buttons just for show. Vtech kept this one SIMPLE and that is what I like best. The large lcd is nice, back lit, and basically tells you what u need to know. The 3 "softkeys" work like a cell phone and change functions in different menus. I didn't really expect the speakerphone to work well but it sounds better than expected and I do use it, so far with no complaints from callers. Oh, and the belt clip actually works pretty well, unlike some which let the phone slip easily off and onto the floor. NOW, you ask is it as good as a corded phone? Who would expect any compact cordless phone with all these features to have 100% clarity of a corded phone? But the slight difference is far more than compensated by the many advantages offered in this small package. I sometimes use this phone while sitting in front of my desk phone, because of its size and portability! If mine breaks after the warranty, I will just go and buy another handset unless someone else comes up with a better phone for the money, which so far I have not seen. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Stylish as well as convenient, the VTech v2651 2.4 GHz cordless phone offers digital spread spectrum technology, base speakerphones and keypads, caller ID/call waiting capability (if you've subscribed through your local phone company) with 50-name and number caller ID memory, and a 50-name and number phone book directory. Tired of hunting for the handset? A handy page/handset locator ensures that you'll never waste another minute tracking it down.

Use the phone's intercom to make conference calls, and take advantage of smart dialing from caller ID to call people back without having to enter their numbers. Other key features include any-key answer (which saves time in answering when you're in danger of missing a call), backlit keypad and display, mute, and 2.5 mm headset compatibility for hands-free conversations (headset not included).

Digital spread spectrum technology uses a wider bandwidth than standard transmission, casting the data that makes your conversations across multiple frequency points and at greater power than do traditional cordless phones. This increases your phone's range, enhances its immunity to noise and interference, and heightens its ability to prevent eavesdropping.

You can expand the v2651 to include a total of four handsets using only a single, standard phone jack (three additional v2600 handsets not included), and you can station the additional handsets just about anywhere in your home. The included handset and the optional handsets communicate through the base unit and can each function as speakerphones and allow handset-to-handset communication. Each handset offers programmable ringer types.

1-0 out of 5 stars Loved it at first...
But then after about 3 months, the expandable handset stopped charging properly and the charge light didn't come on. I thought maybe I just got a bad phone, so I took it back to the store and exchanged. Wouldn't you know, the next one did the same thing.

There is also a constant low buzzing on the line, which I've never had on my other phones. Also, when you place a number in memory, it only saves to that particular handset, not to any others. My dad's 5.8 GHz Vtech saves the memory numbers to all the expandable handsets.

If I had to do it again, I would not have bought this phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Seems great--but...
I was really pleased with the base/speaker phone when I purchased the original unit.Usually people cannot tell when I am on the handset or the base speakerphone because of the excellent sound quality. But the reason we purchased this unit was to be able to add additional handsets. The sound quality from the second handset is extremely poor. Moreover, sometimes when both handsets are in use that seems to cause both handsets to lose contact with the base and the call is lost.

I don't want any special features on my phone, other than multiple handsets. This phone seems to have a lot of neat futures. If I had designed this, however, I would have dropped some of the features and designed a system which allows the person with whom you are talking to actually understand what you are saying.Maybe you need to buy a more expensive model to get that particular feature.

1-0 out of 5 stars I REALLY hate this phone
I got it for my home office because I really needed a dual-keypad speakerphone. The instructions warn not to put it near electronic equipment and they weren't kidding!First of all, very few real perks to this phone.I like performing all my options from the base, and this simply isn't the phone for that.To use the speed dial, you HAVE TO use the handset speakerphone, which is horribly low in volume (and static-y next to my computer). The base speakerphone is not a whole lot better when it comes to clarity of sound. All things considered, I guess it's worth the $70, but I'm giving it to my teenager because she REALLY wants a speakerphone and won't know the difference.Boo-hiss for this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Phone, nice features. Better than Seimens
This is an above average phone systems with many features of phones twice as much $.It has good sound quality and an extended range feature that improves communications over larger distances than standard 2.4GHz phones. It performs much beter than the Seimens 2415&2400 system that it is replacing.I was actually quite surprised to see a high level of build quality and function in a VTech phone system this cheap. 5.8GHz is not worth the bump in price when this phone performs this well in the city.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice features but poor quality
Even though the box clearly states that this 2.4Ghz phone is "802.11 Friendly", I seem to get interface on this phone anywhere in my home. This is the first 2.4Ghz phone that I've had this problem with. There is no option to switch channels (DSS).There is a constant buzz on the line.

Another absolutely irritating thing is that fact that the dialpad is soo slow and will often miss a number when you dial it in. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent office/home phone
I have had this all digital phone for about 6 months. Very happy with it's performance. Voice enhancer feature produces crisp and clear reception. Built in answering system is above average. Battery has held up well... no problems

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cordless and Answering Machine
Never had any trouble with it.Great battery life, reception and sound quality.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
My experience with this phone is so different from the reviewer who gave it five stars that I wonder if we even have the same model. Or perhaps mine is defective. Whatever the case, it's going back less than one day after it arrived. The sound quality is mediocre with or without the "voice enhancer technology" turned on. (With it turned on, it sounds a bit like a soundtrack for a bad dream or unfortunate drug experience.) This phone was a big disappointment and a waste of time having to box it up and send it back.

1-0 out of 5 stars My old Panasonic 900MHz Phone is Far better than this
This phone does not work even in my small two bedroom aparment. I never had any problems with my old panasonic cordless phone. If I move from one room to other room while talking, it will start giving static noises(even if i am not far more than 20 feet). I also moved the base unit from my living room to one of the bed rooms, still same problem. I am returing this product back to Amazon.

Pros:
1. Looks great
2. Cell phone like Phone book is very helpfull

Cons:
1. Give lots of static noise if you go far away from base.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does what its supposed to do, and well!
Prior experience with the Panasonic KX-TG2247S was an extreme disappointment - however this Model is lighter, smaller, and definetly performs much better then the older one, which I returned twice. Battery life is very close to that stated of 11 day stand-by / or 5 hours talk-time.VE (Voice Enhancer) technology is an added bonus (though as the manual already states: at times it will increase the line noise too). The menu has been improved by making it more intuitive and bringing it in line with that of a Mobile Phone. Being Water resistant is a big plus since my wife is always using it in the kitchen while cooking :-) Overall I am giving KX-TG2226SV 5 stars as its restored my confidence in Panasonic's ability to make world class cordless phones. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This phone is junk
I bought this phone about a month ago as a gift.Price was right and the online reviews that I read seemed good for the most part.Needless to say, I am VERY disappointed.2 days after having the phone, I would hear various loud beeps when moving around the house. My friend on the other end of the line said he thought he was playing "Asteroids."Whenever somone was trying to call, the call waiting would beep, then would be followed by a screeching sound in my ear.I returned this phone and am awaiting a refund.

Aside from the major problems with the phone, my similar GE model had more features. This phone does not have a backlit display or numbers so that you can see it in the dark. When you put it on the charger, it doesn't beep like most phones do to let you know it's on there correctly. Also, if you are wall mounting this phone (like I did) it comes with this HUGE cord that does not fit in the base.I actually went out and bought a small 6-inch cord to make it look nice.

Overall, I was very dissatisfied with this phone. This was my first experience with a Uniden product that was not a CB radio or Scanner.I won't be buying another one ever again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reasonably good phone for the price
I was skeptical to buy this phone base on the price but I was pleasantly surprised. For the cheap price tag its a good phone. Reception is good. Range is OK. Nice features with caller ID. I especially like the auto-talk feature where you just remove the phone from its base and start talking without pressing any button. Good buy. ... Read more

Offering a range of exciting features, including 2.4 GHz digital operation, the Panasonic KX-TG2238 connects you to the outside world with a consistently clear channel and plenty of room to roam. Additionally, this model is equipped for Talking Caller ID, which verbally announces who's on the line before you've even left the couch. 5-0 out of 5 stars I liked it
I bought this phone and have not had problems with it. I don't use the voice enhancer and I don't have any problems with echoes. I have had good luck with Panasonic cordless phones and I will continue to buy their brand.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!WASTE OF MONEY!!
I have never left a negative review on Amazon before, but this is a terrible phone.Sound quality is miserable as it cuts in and out as described in other reviews. Also has echo and severe static at times.I've had the phone for 5 months and the battery is already to the point where it only lasts 15 to 20 minutes after a full charge. This appears to be a problem with MANY of the panasonic phone models - just read the other reviews.Best advice is to just stay away from this brand altogether.I thought Panasonic was a quality brand; however, they have proved me wrong.I will NEVER buy another Panasonic phone again. This has been a terrible experience - worst of all, I have come to learn from other reviews that this is typical of the brand and not just a fluke as I had originally thought.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Phone - DO NOT BUY
This phone is terrible.I was excited when I bought it because of the some of the reviews I read, but when I got it home, it was nothing but trouble. The sound is garbled and you cannot hear the person on the other line.It cuts in and out like a cell phone would.I cannot even talk to someone on this phone for more than a minute before massive amounts of static clog up the line and I have to switch phones.

Please do yourself a favor and buy any other phone but this one.The Uniden is a little more expensive but much much better

2-0 out of 5 stars Good while it lasted! BEWARE power LOSS...
6 months! That's how long it lasted.

The GOOD
The phone is lovely, looks good and operated well. Nice features, built-in phone book was really convenient. The charge on the phone lasted a few days, no need to be constantly recharging it.

I ESPECIALLY liked the VOICE MAIL LIGHT flashing when you have a voice mail message. Then with the press of 1 button the phone dials and accesses the voice mail account. A real JOY!

Excellent range. All over house and outside. No interference with other equipment.

Now the PROBLEMS:
ECHO..ECHO ..ECHO..
There was an echo with the voice enhancer. Turning off helped somewhat but then there was loss of clarity sometimes.

BEEP...BEEP
and an infrequent beep while talking making one lose bits of conversation.. Auto frequency changes maybe?

POWER LOSS
The power went off when I accidentally unplugged the phone thinking it was my shaver and the phone RESET AND NEVER WORKED AGAIN! How ridiculous!

I have another cordless, a Toshiba, I unplugged that to test and it continued to work after I plugged it back in. All the programmed memory buttons still retained their numbers.

With the Panasonic, I tried resetting the phone but alas ... there are NO instructions on how to reset if the power is disconnected. The manual simply said replace handset on cradle and let charge for x hours. Still the thing wouldn't work. flashing lights and beeps! Amazing!

I would have returned the thing but decided that I would simply get another phone of a DIFFERENT brand that actually WORKS AFTER BEING UNPLUGGED.

My new phone, a GE, has instructions on resetting the phone if accidentally unplugged or power outage. 6 months and it is still working, and no beeps! Unfortunately it doesn't have the voice mail light. I really liked that light!

So, if you accidentally unplug your phone beware....all may not be as it seems!

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Dispointing
I have an old analog Panasonic 2.4Ghz and love it.So I didn't even think of buying another brand. This phone is terrible. She speakerphone does not work well, continually cutting in and out.The headset is even worse, the echo and digital warble are unbearable.Going to try a GE recomended from Consumer Reports. ...
