5-0 out of 5 stars great phone!!
I just baught this phone today and I love it already. See we returned two other phones today, before we relized that 2.4 ghz phones are not compatible if you have a wirelss network in your house, so we went for this one at a 5.8 ghz freq. So if you have a wireless internet conection in your house save your time and go 5.8 like this phone here. The asortmant of rings are unique and not to anoying.
but, if you are looking to get a great phone for less ,about 40 dollars less, I really liked the one we had to return, just remember if you have wirelss internet dont bother. Here is the best for your buck and very sweet design, id say even nicer looking than this panasonic , wich is very sleek its self. It is made by General Electric (21028ge3) is the part number, there is one with an answering machine and one without, i baought both, the one without will save you even more if you allready have voicemail. Circuit city has allot of reviews for this phone, i recomend you look it up, just type that part number in google search and type reviews after it and it will pull up circuit city and the reviews. Anyways, i am not trying to take away from this Pannasonic, just wanted to say that both are great. Damien (mesa, Az) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Broken ear clips
I have had this product for just under a month and now the second earclip is cracked and about to break. The little ring that connects to the main unit is thin plastic and snaps easily under light to moderate use. Now I guess I have to find more of them somewhere or stop using the device.

2-0 out of 5 stars It doesn't work with a PC
If you want to use this device with your PC, buy another device. It doesn't work. I have called Plantronics support service and they say that it doesn't work.

It works fine with my mobile phone. But is useless for PC.

The problem is that Plantronics says that it works with PCs... What a shame. I feel I have been cheated

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent noise cancelling
This is the 3rd bluetooth headset I am trying (Jabra & Motorola) being the other two. Even though this is a bit bulky, I feel comfortable wearing it around my right ear. The noise cancelling is the best part of this headset. While driving on both highways & city roads, I have not had anyone complain about the background noise. I do have to attend a bunch of conference calls while I drive and this has been the best headset so far in term of clarity and noise cancelling quality. I have it paired to my Blackberry 7100t phone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, Good Fit, Great Price
I had my doubts about this headset when I read the other reviews, but I jumped in and bought it anyway because of the price, and July is around the corner and Chicago's cell phone law goes into effect. I only use it in the car and the sound I get is very good. The battery lasts long but cut the numbers that Plantronics gives you by 25%

I did take a walk away from my phone and the signal did get a little choppy after about 20 feet, but like I said I only use this in the car. It paired with my Motorola V551 instantly with no problems. The ear loop was a little uncomfortable, but after I bent it away from the headset right where the rubber part starts, it fit perfectly after that.

The thing is a little big and if you move your head side to side quickly it flaps on your face but it does sit securely on your ear. You can bend to pick something up or reach up high and it will sit on your ear.

Overall I'm happy with it, and for the price you can't go wrong.

1-0 out of 5 stars Definitely not for PC
From the Product Description, it mentioned it can also be used on PC with bluetooth. Well, it's not true. I tried to set it up but cannot get through. They should have included the Widcomm software to be able to communicate with my notebook. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Features missing
For prospective buyers:This phone has no ability to transfer the phone book between handsets and/or base unit (you have to enter the number manually into each one) and has really irritating ring choices.

2-0 out of 5 stars wireless LAN users please read this
I do not own this wireless phone
but I was checking the replacement of Vtech, which has a lot of static, and the voicemail records without any reason
when I check this model, I found this phone is running on both 2.4 and 5.8GHz (same as Vtech)
wireless owners, pls think twice before buying this unit

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good with wireless communication
This is the second 5.8 we purchased and returned. It disconnects our wireless internet when the phone is in use.We have to turn the computer off and reboot to get it back once the call has ended.Funny, the label states this was developed just for wireless connections. We tried the Panasonic KX-TG5240M first which I commented on too.

The sound quality seemed to be good and battery life okay, just kills the internet... Really liked some of the features, but was a little complicated to program. You only have to do that once, though. So, if you are not worried about the wireles internet and can work your way through the first programing, this might be a good choice.

We are on our third brand, Radio Shack's 5.8.Funny, it costa LOT less and so far no problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars main pros and cons
This phone is top of the line AT&T has to offer. It includes all the features we often use as consumers. However, remember that this technology is rather new to the cordless phones market. If people learn about them and find out how they are best used, it will minimize the complaining factor. The only negitive thing i see about these new phones is their warrenty. When you pay that high the warrenty should be at least 3 years.

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT COMFORTABLE
In general I am okay with this headset, I am using it with a TREO 650 which lends itself to other issues, the headset is not advanced enough to work automatically with the treo.My main complaint is it is not adjustable to my ear.I actually have to use the big ear gel to get it to stay on because the part that goes over your hear is about 1 cm too high over my ear, so the big ear gel holds it up....It fits my husband perfectly, so maybe it is that I have smaller ears, it just seems to me that there should be a better way to make it fit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Generally happy
I have been using this device for two months, and have been generally happy with it - the audio fidelity is good, the unit is comfortable, the battery life is long and, although I haven't tested the maximum range, I usually use it at 10 to 12 feet from the phone (Nokia 6820).My house is in a marginal reception area for Cingular, and using the headset allows me to put the phone in a "sweet spot" with an unusual orientation, giving me three or four bars instead of one.

The "belt clip" is a joke.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good Bluetooth handsfree kit, but with a few problems
The FreeSpeak is no doubt a reasonably good performer. The sound on it is reasonably clear and the microphone does a good job too. My only complaint on it is that once I paired mine and turn the kit on, my PDA (a Sony Clie PEG-UX50) would no longer be able to connect to the phone (a SonyEricsson T610) via bluetooth unless the kit is switched back off. Could be a flaw with either the phone's design and/or the Bluetooth specification (I never really did test it with a different phone to verify the problem), but since I am able to receive calls while my PDA is connected to the internet (I have GPRS enabled on my line), it would be nice to be able to answer a call without either talking on my phone or taking the PDA offline. Still, a good starter kit if you don't have any other Bluetooth device paired with your phone.

Update: Well, I've managed to get a Motorola V600 and tried the same headset on it, and the same problem persists- you can't connect other Bluetooth devices to the phone while the headset is connected. I am now also fairly certain that the problem is with Bluetooth's specifications as I was unable to exchange pictures between the phones while the PDA was accessing one of the phones. So, okay. No fault of the phones, PDA or the headset. Just the way Bluetooth works in general.

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor belt clip design
I don't have much to say about the 250 other than to point out the really poor design of the belt clip/charger. The 250 is supposed to click into this holder (which connects to the power adaptor for charging). This holder is designed to clip onto your belt so that you can carry the 250 when is is not in use. Okay, I agree that you will look extremely nerdy if you have your phone AND your earpiece hanging from your belt but sometimes you need to put the things away and the Freespeak 250 is really too fragile to carry in your pocket. The only problem with this is that the 250 will easily fall out of the holder and if you use it you WILL lose it. It is only a matter of time. My 250 lasted about 45 seconds and when I went to get it from the belt clip it was GONE. Not the holder but the 250 itself. Some lucky stiff at the Houston airport picked it up and walked away.

I also thought that the 250 was not well made. When I would push the on/off or volume buttons I could feel the housing "give" a little, as if the buttons were about to collapse into the housing. A little too flimsy and not indication of a long life expectancy for the earpiece.

I suggest that you consider another alternative - at $90 the 250 is simply overpriced.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Ready for Prime Time
I have used this headset with my Treo 650 and have been very disapointed with it's performance. It may be a function of the Treo's Bluetooth capabilities so keep that in mind and do not waste your money on this headset if you are using a Treo.

It has very poor range; arm's length at best. Outdoors it is useless. It has times when it will refuse to pick up a call. The voice quality is also poor with hissing and crackling. The only place it seems to be remotely useful is in the car where it is within arm's reach and the hissing is only moderate. This is pretty expensive to only be able to use part of the time. Talk time is also much shorter than advertised.

My $.02, save your money for something else.

Update: Recently purchased the new Treo 650 headset by PalmOne. That is the new Bluetooth 1.2 version, not the clone of this Jabra. Much, much better. Now I have a headset that I can use all the time. I have completely replaced all my wired headsets. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic does it again( KX-TG5202M )
Last phone was a Panasonic it endured 11-12 years of daily use.Purchased the KX-TG5200M,for it's features,2 phone set,speaker phone,ect.So far so good.I don't for-see any problems.
The volume control is outstanding, clarity is good.Topping it off they are not that bad to look at either.User friendly.Outstanding product.I don't expect nothing less from a Panasonic.

2-0 out of 5 stars Annoying Caller ID Problem and Disappointing Quality
We bought the KX-TG5210M and the optional extra handset (KX-TGA520M) in Dec. 2004.The display on the option handset quit working in Jan. 2005.Like the other reviewer said, a phone that doesn't work is worthless. In addition, after answering a call on one of the handsets, the other handset (the one I didn't answer) shows a missed call even though I just answered it.This is annoying because you can't keep track of calls you missed because some of the calls shown as missed were actually answered.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone
This is a great phone that has great features.Don't listen to the negative hype. There is usually a great rebate offer too.I got 20 bucks and I think they are up to 30 now.

This handheld phone has seven different ringers (on the base unit KX-TG5240M), and can control all the base unit functions. It can also be used to monitor a room (like a baby monitor), check the voice mail, phone to phone conference, multiple (up to 5) conference, and many many more features. If you have multiple handsets, you can use it as a pager for each OR all handsets at a time.

I experience excellent clarity several hundred feet away from the house, and that is through three concrete walls. This model comes equipped with NiMH batteries, which beat the heck out of NiCd in both capacity and long (battery memory free) life, which is a huge bonus, considering how much replacement batteries cost nowadays.

My wife loves the talking caller ID so that see doesn't have to cross the room or even clean her hands while cooking to answer some annoying telemarketer.

Good quality, good clarity, and the longest lasting best batteries!

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs improvement
For about a month, I've been using this system with a total of 3 handsets for VoIP. Sounds great, I like the feel and some of the features like speaker phone and talking caller ID. Here's what I'd add/change:

When one handset answers the phone, the other handsets should not display a missed call.

One handset should be able to erase all the other handsets missed call log.

The handsets should display the time and date.

The handsets should be able to supercede the caller ID. Meaning: when the phonebook is programmed with a friends work number and the handset receives the call from the friend, the company's name displays instead of the friend's name in the phone book.

Single button dialing to the carriers voice mail system. Doesn't make much sense to press the VM button and then the talk button or vice-versa.

1-0 out of 5 stars Steer clear...
I bought the base station (KX-TG5200M) and a second handset (KX-TGA520M) and both failed within 2 months. (Comapred to my last Panasonic 900MHz phone that lasted 8+ years and counting...)
The features on this phone are great and worth 5 stars (programmable phone book, room-to-room monitor, multiple voicemail inboxes) but a great phone that doesn't work is worthless. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
The quality of this camera is -excellent- for this price range. I am quite satified with it. Still image captures come out clear and video captures are also clear and fast. As a webcam, I am impressed how fast it picks up movements. I use it on Yahoo messenger. Super-mode would turn on and the quality of the cam is lifelike. However, the downside about this webcam is Yahoo tends to crash once in awhile. It might be a different for other messengers with webcam features. It may be Yahoo that isn't working right and not the camera since it also kept crashing my old cam and pc. Another downside, is the camera tends to fall a lot. It does not clip well to the flat panel or notebook. It has a moveable base but is better placed on a flat surface. Other than that, if your looking for a good quality camera this would be a good one to consider. :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Software is useless!!!
I bought this camera to use for motion detection as an extra
security device at home to email me if motion is detected.
The jocks at creative have helpfully failed to include the option for smtp authentication so no email you try and send
will ever get through unless you have one of the rare few email
accounts where the smtp server does not require a password, if
you do it wont last for long.
[...]Aside from that the camera is good but I'd suggest getting another one with software that is useful because this is a big
feature.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comment on Creative Labs WebCam Live!
This is the third Creative Labs webcam I have bought. Compared to the previous ones (a first generation webcam and a more recent Pro eX), this one produces better pictures - brighter and better color rendering. It works well in low light environment. So as far as performance is concerned, I am pretty happy. However, if you're looking for a webcam that can be SECURELY mounted on your laptop, this one is definitely not for you. This webcam does NOT have a clip or a snap-on mechanism. It does allow you to put the webcam on laptop computer's display panel without falling off if the computer is on a leveled surface without any kind of movement. Even that is little bit shaky if the dispaly panel is thin (like my Dell Inspiron 700m). I give this webcam a 4 star instead of 5 mainly for this reason.

A note about installation (Windows XP with SP2):
This is not a big deal but I thought I would just share with everyone in case someone gets confused. Like other Creaive Labs stuff I have bought before (webcams and MP3 player), the installation procedure in the manual doesn't quite match what you actually experience. The manual indicates after you finish installing the software (drivers and apps), then you plug in the webcam and Windows will discover the hardware and you go from there. In reality, you will be asked to plug in the webcam before you finish the software installation and you never go through the Windows hardware discovery process.

4-0 out of 5 stars good deal, neat design, made in Korea
actually you can manually adjust brightness and contrastness, as well as gamma correction.
good picture quality,
a little bit slow caused by data conjestion ? via LAN connection, but where you can find USB2.0 at this price?
btw, I believe Koreans' made after I bought 3 iRivers MP3 players.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for seeing loved ones.
I bought two of these cameras, one for myself and one for my parents that live in CA (I'm in WA).I moved away recently and wanted to see them more often than I can afford to fly. This camera does a great job and the mic works well too.

A previous reviewer said the video was blurry and slow, I am using MSN messenger and the problem is the broadband connection. When I used the camera on my home LAN to have a video conference between my laptop and desktop the image was great.Clear, smooth very little delay. When I use the camera to talk to my parents there is lag and fast motion causes blurring. To me this is acceptable. If I wanted to pay hundreds of dollars for a business class connection the image would be better but thats too much money.

The voice communication is pretty much equivalent to phone.Almost no delay and very easy to hear.As far as the echo the previous reviewer mentioned his speakers are probably turned up too loud.Every time you hear someone call into a radio station and the DJ tells them to turn down their stereo it is because their speakers are up too high and are causing an echo.If you use the mic in conjuction with headphones it works great.

For $50 I couldn't be happier with this product.MSN integrates flawlessly with it and so far it is all free. The voice quality is close to a dedicated phone line and cuts down on my long distance calls. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Vonage and this phone
This phone is a great match to Vonage. The Voice message indicator light works (needs to be turned on, its off by default on the handsets, uses more battery). The Screen will also display that you have a voicemail waiting. As for the function of the phone, its great, it has not interfered with anything else in my house andis a good feel on the ear.All in all I recommend this phone for use with Voicemail setups, and its good for Vonage. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I recently bought this with the suggested slim travel adaptor and was amazed at the clarity of the reception.I have it in my bathroom of a high rise apartment in Manhattan and the reception is as clear as a bell.Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great radio, would've been 5 stars if...
The Sony ICF-M410V gets great reception.I work in a building that's got some serious radio interference surrounding it.I've tried various clock radio's and a C-crane radio, none were able to pick up anything but static.

This radio is able to pick up all of the stations on AM and FM that I like to listen to.It also picks up 4 or 5 TV stations without any static.

Why not 5 stars?Because, for some reason I can't figure out, Sony thought it'd be a good idea to sell this thing without a power cord.

I bought the Sony AC-E45A power adapter from Amazon along with the radio (they shipped from different retailers btw). Some people reported that this power adapter caused problems with their radios (static or humming) I've not experienced either.

I love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid performance, great buy!
This is the latest version of a radio Sony has been producing for years (I own the original version). The radio performs like a champ, with great sensitivity, selectivity, and clean audio. Use it virtually anywhere.Although you have to get an a.c. adapter separately for it, the unit gets great mileage and plenty of sound out of 3 AA batteries. The controls are precise and convenient. Put this radio up against any other in its price and size range, and I guarantee you'll go with this one!Every so often, Sony produces a product with great design, perfomance, durability, size, and value: a "Sony classic".This radio is one of those products. If it is the type of portable radio you are looking for, look no further.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bedtime Radio with Strong AM
Sadly, strong AM is a disapearing trait from many PLL synthesized digital tuing radios, but the Sony M410V has paid attention to AM; as a result, this Sony gets better AM reception than many digital radios that cost twice as much. 790 AM, which has weak reception on many of my expensive radios, comes in loud in clear on the Sony. The FM is strong. I get all the weak left-dial stations. The TV is strong with the exception of channel 4, a major station. Here's a rundown of what I like:

1. Strong AM
2. Strong FM
3. Ease of use, large buttons, intuitive functions
4. Slender design makes it ideal for bedside use.
5. Costs half of many premium radios that don't have as good AM.

Here's what I would improve:

1. Give the radio more than five presets per band.
2. Give the radio a rear flap so that you can lay it down at an angle for easier operation and to avoid having the radio tip over.
3. Make the headphone jack stereo, not coming through just one headphone speaker like it does now.

Other than those small flaws, this is an outstanding performer for the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars solid performance for its class
I listen to AM for news in the morning and evening, and classical or jazz FM on occasion.I am not a radio expert as some of the previous reviewers, but have a quality stereo for serious music listening.

I purchased this radio to replace a similarly priced Radio Shack model which broke after 6 months.I did not want to get another from Radio Shack, nor buy a second Grundig G-2000A (the "Porsche" design -- nice enough, but pricey for the sound quality). As some reviewers have noted, there does not seem to be much selection among portable table radios.I use it in the kitchen in the morning and around dinner, and sometimes move it around if I am working elsewhere in the house (the Grundig sits in the bathroom).

This radio has done a fine job for a product of its size and price. The sound is relatively full and rich (it's not a Bose, but then it costs a tenth the price), though a bit on the darker side.I have had no trouble with its reception or frequency drift, but I do live in a city, so rural users may have a different experience. It separates channels well.I get all the TV and several weather channels in my area but don't use these features. It does not equal a desktop stereo, but then, I think that would be an unrealistic expectation for its size and price.

The memory presets are convenient, and the radio has both a sleep and an alarm function (you can set it to come on at a certain time, but not make an actual alarm sound). The controls are intuitive.Construction quality seems good but not great; it is mostly plastic. It is a bit too large to be an ideal travel radio/alarm.

Some reviewers commented about a few things which are of less importance to me.The picture alone makes it clear this is a mono device; in any event, a radio this small isn't going to have sufficient separation (or power) to give much in the way of stereo. If you want stereo, spend a bit more and get a larger radio, or save the space and get a walkman type device with good headphones. No AC adapter is included, which is admittedly kind of cheap on Sony's part.Still, something this size is primarily meant to be portable; if you aren't going to move it, and sound quality is your main concern, check out higher end radios (e.g. Tivoli, larger Grundigs) or get a nice stereo clock radio in the $50-100 range.

Negatives include the styling, which looks like a small purse (as another reviewer said), and the plastic is a flat off white color, not very appealing. It lacks either a sophisticated or a relaxed appearance, in my opinion. It has no night light, further diminishing its use as a travel alarm/radio.It seems picky about battery power, reporting low batteries with batteries that run other radios without difficulty.

This radio has served my needs well, but is not outstanding.I am happy with its performance, reception, portability, and ease of use.If your priority is the best sound quality, and you are willing to sacrifice a bit in the other areas, you would be better off with a different choice. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Excellent features, two terrible flaws
I have been using this phone for over a year and still like features like ability to send directory from the base to a handset. The problem is that this phone has 2 fundamental flaws. One is battery life, even with Energizer NiMh replacement battery (much better than the original NiCd battery), that is pathetic 1.5 hours of talk time. Do not even consider having a conference call with his phone (even without wireless booster activated).

The second problem is that display fades in and out. I noticed that when the phone is totally charged it is mostly out. This makes dialing "blind" and stored directly totally useless.

I do not think I will be buying any Panasonic phones in the feature even they have all the features I want.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this phone
Wish I'd read the reviews before buying this phone. Like the other reviewer said, just take your money and flush it down the toilet, at least it'll save you the aggravation. We spent more than $300 for this system and several phones for our home. The batteries had to be replaced at a hefty sum eight months later.Three months later, and now three of them say, "no signal with base," which may be another battery problem. We're done throwing good money after bad. This phone doesn't even deserve one star.

4-0 out of 5 stars Would be Perfect if Batteries Lasted Longer
I have had this system with 7 extensions for roughly three years. Unfortunately, the batteries must be replaced every 14 months or so. However, the system excels in every other regard. Reception is static free and crystal clear - better than some corded phones I have had. And while I have not researched the market lately, at the time I bought this system, it was the only 2.4Ghz or better system on the market that could accomodate 2 phone lines on a multiphone cordless system. Fearing that if the base station ever broke, I would have flushed about $700 down the toilet, I actually bought a second base station which still sits in its box in my closet, since the original base station has performed without a hitch. The ability to transmit stored phone numbers or entire phone lists from one handset to the others is a nice feature. This system also allows for conference calling, separate voicemail boxes, and many features that I have never even bothered to learn to use.To me, the many pluses make it worth the investment in replacement batteries, which can always be found relatively chep on the web.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too bad there is not a lemon for list for phones
We have 8 of these phones and are extremely carefull about the dreaded memory effect and they still are awful!!!The displays fade in and out at will....whether they are fully charged or not.We have one phone that will last all of one dialing fully charged. We bought new batteries for these and started all over, not charging until the phone was completely dead.Same results as before.HEY Panasonic...these are the most terrible phones we have ever had.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't hold a charge and is breaks fast
This is a very poor product from Panasonic.I have always purchased Panasonic cordless phones and had great luck. This unit met all my specifications.I was so excited when I ordered it.

You cannot leave it off the charging station more than a couple hours or the batteries need to charge over night.

Within 6 months 2 units were returned for repair.6 months later they were bad again but the warranty was up.

For the price I paid I should be writing a glowing review, instead I'm telling you to stay away from this product. It's no good and I'll never trust Panasonic again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this phone
I'm inclined to believe I have phone phobia because I generally try to avoid talking on the phone.I got this phone about a year ago and it is my favorite phone of all time. It's like not talking on a phone, so I get very comfortable while talking with it on.If it's not on and I know it's going to be an extended phone call, I always track it down and switch over to it when talking. For some reason, I'm not as perturbed.I actually enjoy using it.It's extremely easy to program both for ring styles and local/long distance numbers so you can easily use one-button dialing for returning calls.I have the rings programmed so that I can tell which of my loved ones are calling.(I give my sons the same ring so I know just to pick it up w/o looking.) The headset is very comfortable and I asked if people had a hard time hearing me.Not at all. The numbers pads are small so you really have to watch what you're doing, but it's the only negative and that is really not a major or even minor problem for me.No big deal.I enjoy using it very much and very happy I got it, even at the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor sound quality
After having two Plantronic CT10 phones for years (both of which recently broke), I am very disappointed in this model.

1. The sound quality is very poor -- there's a constant buzz in the background.I never had this problem with the CT10, so I know Plantronics can do better.

2.You cannot use the phone while it is charging.

3.I liked the clip on the old model, which could hook onto anything. This one will only slide over a belt or a pocket, and it is inclined to pop off.

4.The keypad buttons are tiny and flat, so as you're dialing, you have little sense that you're hitting the right numbers.

4-0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets.
I searched and searched and I really couldn't find anything better than this headset.I have two issues with the headset:

1)It knocks out my 801.2b wireless network sometimes[Netgear ME102 WAP].It's easy to fix, I just have to hit the ch[annel] button, it will move to another channel and everything is happy happy again. Not really a big deal, but annoying how these devices can't play nice together.

2)I use this when I work from home as I try to entertain my kids.Needless to say, there is a lot of speaking and muting in long conference calls to try to limit the number of yells coming from the background. In order to mute, you have to hold down the mute button for about 2 seconds which is annoying.

The headset is comfortable, battery life great, etc etc.I just wish that there wasn't any delay for muting.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's a good idea...
I bought this wireless phone system to promote multi-tasking; which it does. The battery does seem to last 5.5 hours; and it really does only need about 2 hours to fully recharge. It's also very light on the head when you are using the standard headset form.

There are a few things I would like to see improved upon! For this kind of money they could have done a much better job.

Needs improving:
1. Sound quality!: I have had people tell me I sound like I am in a small tunnel whilst using this phone. Also, the speaker sounds slightly muffled; especially when you are using the standard form. The sound via the speaker isn't as bad when you are using the second form; the earpiece. However, the earpiece is not very comfortable at all. It's hard plastic and has very little give.

2. No battery indicator: This unit will only tell you the battery status when it's dieing. Even cheap phones are able to tell you the current charge status. I guess Plantronics couldn't add this simple feature. So when it comes to battery power; it's all guess work.

3. Earpiece quality: I have already stated that the earpiece is not ergonomic. Plantronics must realize that not everyone's ears are the same. The earpiece should be able to conform to the user's ear. After a while, your ear will become sore. I have somewhat small ears, so if your ears are a little big; the earpiece will probably hurt you.

4. Frequency: This phone only operates off the 2.4GHz band. This is very inadequate. Older phones and routers operate off this frequency. So you will can have some issues with interference. Plantronics should upgrade to the latest phone standard; 5.8GHz.

5. Not enough accessories: Many of the ergonomic problems could be solved via additional accessories. Plantronics could just offer different style earpiece units for the model; yet they don't. They could also just sell improved microphones; yet they don't. Not to say that this is how the problems should have to be solved. For this kind of money, the phone should sound and feel great.

Overall, this phone does its job; which is to keep you multi-tasking. It also prevents you from having a soar neck; as you will not have to pinch a phone against your shoulder anymore.

I recommend this phone; but I wouldn't pay more than $100.00 for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sound Quality, Works with my wireless network
First, I get excellent sound quality. I use it for conference
calls every day, and the other conferees say that they can
hear me really well, much better than a former cordless (Uniden)
phone also at 2.4 Ghz.

Next, I have a wireless 802.11b network, based on a Linksys
WET11. Yes it can totally shut down the network, but if I push
the "chan" button while attempting to transmit data on the
network, after several pushes it seems to find a set of channels
(it uses spread spectrum) that allows me to talk and use the
network at the same time.I found that an even more reliable
method is to be accessing a webpage or somesuch at the same time
that I push the "talk" button. In that situation it consistently
chooses a channel combination that coexists peacefully with my
network. In fact I know I've hit the right combination because
I hear a small amount of static in the headset when transferring
data over the network. Oh, and by the way I have my wireless-b
channel set to 11.

Overall I'm very pleased with the phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent 5.8 Ghz phone
I have been trying out a number of phones lately, and this
Uniden phone has by far the best reception of the bunch. The connection is very clear and callers sound like they are in the next room.In fact this is the clearest cordless phone I have ever had, and I have had many office and home phones for my home office. The features are pretty nice, and fairly comprehensive. The speakerphone in handset is a really nice and addicting feature. The battery life is not quite as good as my previous Panasonic phone.

I use this phone with the Vonage VOIP phone service and it is plugged into the wireless router and sits about three feet from the wireless antennae.I have had no problems with interference. I did have interference problems on other 5.8 GHz phones I tried. Many 5.8 Ghz phones do use the 2.4 Ghz spectrum for part of the signal, so still may interfere with 802.11B & G wireless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally a 5.8 GHz phone that has quality!
I was looking for a handset that would not interfere with 2.4Ghz wireless that has taken over my neighborhood and caused many reception problems. Saw the Motorola 5.8Ghz and thought I'd give it a try after trying out a Panasonic 5.8Ghz which sounded like I was talking through atin can. Unfortunately Motorola was just a bit better on sound quality, but not much. The last part of every word gets cut off. I couldn't go far from the base without loosing signal and the volume was low to medium. Battery life was marginal at best.I am slightly hard of hearing, (but have perfect pitch) so having a little more juice in this department would be good. The features are okay but, layout and interface are primitive compared to other phones in this price range. I guess the3rd time is the charm because I ended up finding the 5.8GHz Uniden Tru 8860-2 finally with normal human voice quality and volume when needed. The layout and functionality for the features are intuitive and easy where the phone is not drawing attention to itself because of it's quirkienessand low quality (Motorola and Panasonic.) Take it from me, if you are looking for a 5.8 Ghz phone, get the Uniden

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good phone.
Like most people, I have purchased an unreasonable number of sub-$50 phones over the last few years, and universally, they have turned out to be crap.I finally took the financial plunge and purchased the Uniden TRU8860-2 (which is actually two handsets) and have been very, very pleased. It is extremely easy to use, is a real digital phone (DSS), has a great range, is loaded with features (that are easy to access), does not conflict with my wireless network, has a good battery life and acceptable sound.I have some slight criticisms that should not discourage you from your purchase:I don't find the sound quality to be as clear as I would hope (this has a very faint hiss), but there is no denying that it is still FAR better than all other cordless models I've purchased. Also, I find the handsets a bit small for my taste (others will disagree, to be sure), but again, a small price to pay for finally getting a cordless phone that does everything it should do - every time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best phone I've ever had!
I have owned some decent but expensive Panasonic phones and a V-tech system that I wasn't crazy about in the past. This system is my favorite by far because of its great sound clarity and features, easy programming and reasonable price.I did spend some time inputting nearly 50 numbers into the phonebook including distinctive rings for frequent callers but copied it to the second handset in about 30 seconds! The phonebook shares memory space with the caller id log but you can store up to 100 numbers either way.You can also program 10 numbers on speed dial and a separate voicemail access number.I am also very excited about the message waiting indicator because I have an answering machine on my fax and rarely remember to check my voicemail! Now when someone leaves me a message I'll be sure to get it!You can use a handsfree accessory purchased separately or speakerphone on the handset AND you can even use the phones as walkie talkies in or outside of your home! This phone system has everything and I will be purchasing additional handsets to replace all of my other phones.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone
I am very pleased with this telephone set.I works great! My husband, who is hearing impaired, loves the super efficient volume control.I enjoy the intercom feature as well as the room monitor feature. The light up screen is a big help in a poorly lit room.I know that I have only scratched the surface of its capabilities.I have gone through many telephones over the past 12 years and I must say that this one is the best I have found yet.I hope it will be a very long time before this one needs replacing. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very good phone system
Easy to set up and use, lot of features and has very good reception. I got the 5.8 verswion as opposed to the 2.4 version because it is not suppost to interfer with wireless lans. It has not. Only down side is that you have to enter a number in the directory into each handset. 3 hand sets three different entries. It would be nice to have the ability to down load a number directory from the base station to each Handset.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hellooo Helloooo Helloooo, can you hear me me me
I love this phone (we have 4) except for the darn ECHO!This can be annoying and seems to occur more often when the phone is picked up on our corded phone and xfered to the cordless. We use the intercom feature often and I often work outside with one on my hip.Wish it would retain a called list like cell phones do.I haven't seen any LAN phones that do though.bummer...

5-0 out of 5 stars Very neat phone
I bought three of these and they all worked perfectly out of the box, the signal is strong and clear and they have some cool features and ring tones. This was a good choice..

5-0 out of 5 stars Emergency Baby Monitor
During a family gathering, my daughter layed her newborn baby to sleep in an upstairs room. She soon discovered that she had forgotten to pack her baby monitor. So, I had a chance to show off this phone once again. We used our phone's monitor feature to ease our minds and allow us to have a good time, while still being able to hear when the baby woke up.Another bonus was that the phone did not ring during dinner time to disturb us because it was on monitor mode.I have the base and three additional handsets (total of 4). It is great! I even talked a few neighbors into buying this phone. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Adding-on to a Great Phone
Just bought the third extension for this great system. We use this phone system on a VoIP line. It's the easiest way to have extension phones using VoIP. Works fantastic and for the money, it can't be beat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantasic little phone !!Can get enough though.
The only complaint I have is that you can't add more than 3 handsets to the base!Otherwise I would add phones to every room in the house.I agree with all the reviews prior to this.At first I thought the size was a bit small but turns out I prefer it.Another nice feature is the belt clip that makes it very simple to carry with you when you're out in the yard.Great clarity, range and value. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet camera, not so impressed with the delivery
Great camera, lots of great features and very easy to use. The delivery by USPS left a lot to be desired though, the package was left on the doorstep by the street because it wouldnt fit through the letterbox, even though the apartment management building was just next door. Shoddy shoddy work guys!

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Everyday Camera!
I purchased this camera for everyday use, instead of lugging around my bulky Fuji FinePix S7000.This camera is super!Very easy to use!Super quality photos!I would recommend to anyone just getting into digital photography and for digital "pros" that need a small camera.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great little camera
This little camera is a full featured powerhouse. Not only does it have a higher optical zoom than other similar cameras, it has a good quality feel, huge LCD screen and video with sound. The menus are easy to navigate and don't need much fiddling with in the first place for most users.Included is a nice charging and download cradle that keeps the camera fully charged and ready to use at short notice.

I'm a big fan of these small cameras because they slide inconspicuously in your pocket and can be taken anywhere - it's smaller than a deck of playing cards. You can't say this about most digital cameras.

I would give it five stars, but one feature I purchased it for has some shortcomings. This camera, like some other Fuji brand cameras - is supposed to be able to double as a PC webcam. The set up for this camera to be used this way is not easy, and once I set it up on my new Dell XP Pro PC, it continuously crashed the system and never worked. My previous Fuji camera (the A310) had none of these problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera! Plus value for money
DC Resource reviews the Fujifilm Finepix F440 and writes - 'The Fuji FinePix F440 is a fun and compact point-and-shoot camera that has some features that set it apart from the pack. Despite its compact size, the F440 has a 3.4X optical zoom -- a nice change from the usual 3X. The second nice feature is the larger-than-normal 2 inch LCD display, which also happens to be bright, sharp, and fluid.'

I found all the above to be true and found more great stuff. Battery life is pretty good, lots of photo modes, great manual mode, great chrome mode, b&w mode, WEB-Cam feature (yes! web-cam), voice memo, video (good quality, but limited to 180 sec), great flash modes (try the S flash mode outdoors at night), even the manual was really simple and helpful - read it to get full use of the camera. The other obvious benefits are the small size, sexy design, and the coolness factor. However, to be honest I bought the camera for its lower price, and after comparing it to my friend's double-priced Sony Cybershot T1, I am completely satisfied. (It should be pointed out that the T1 is a 5MP camera, so a better comparison would be with the Fuji F450, which is also much cheaper than the T1) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Now we're talking....
I read the reviews on Amazon and checked out the Olympus and other recorders...nothing touches this one for usability.Therein lies some of the problem.I'm a techie and still can'tuse it in the dark when driving. As a master's student, it has proved invaluable in lecture. On the (CONF-Hi) setting, it easily picks up even the whiniest professor's voice at a 15 foot range. The main reason I purchased the ICD-BM1 was it's 5 Dragon award from Dragon Natually Speaking(DNS).I use DNS v7.3 and have found it trained easily and has around 95% accuracy (down a few points from another reviewer) probably because I impatiently read the 1 hr training script in 40 minutes. It's very small and extremely light. The case has two velcro'd places for additional memory sticks. However, since it can use 128mb (not pro)I rarely swap sticks.I use the 128 for class related info and the others for personal life - maybe that's why I rarely swap - I have no personal life. One more thing, it's fabulous with DNS for dictating emails while driving. This allows emailing to family friends that would otherwise not hear from me as often.Great product!!!!

PART TWO - 4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE
When first setting up the unit I found the battery door was very difficult to get open - but dismissed it figuring how often would I be replacing batteries? It turns out the door has now become unstable and sits in a slightly open position, popping open at will. When the batteries come out unnoticed, I have to reset the date/time etc.

After contacting Sony I learned that IF they determine it is a manufacturing defect versus user abuse, they will exchange the unit. The problem is... the unit received in exchange will not be new, rather it will be used (refurbished).

A warranty should repair or replace with a new unit - especially manufacturing defects. I'm disappointed in Sony.

Rather than do without the unit only to receive a used unit, I've decided to tape the door shut.

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch your pricing!
Started to order this item at the listed price of $299. On checkout the price was $320 - plus $22 more for handling and shipping.

1-0 out of 5 stars Included Sony Voice Editor Software Incompatibility
I returned the Sony ICB BM1 due to the loud audible "click" it inserts into the recording whenever it is paused. Sony tech support said that it was a characteristic of all BM1's, not just the unit I had. Then I find that the Sony Voice Editor software is incompatible with my Windows XP Media Center pc, and the more current Voice Editor software which came with the BM1 does a "dirty" uninstall (leaves it's own dll files in the windows\system folder rather than the Windows dll files it replaced). This caused my Sony ICD MS515 Voice Editor software (an earlier version) not to work. After a week back and forth with Sony tech support, their conclusion is that ALL Sony Voice Editor software is incompatible with Windows XP Media Center pc's, and I was just out of luck that my older Sony ICD MS515 Voice Editor (and the recorder) wouldn't work now after working fine for seven months. I'll never by Sony again, and am waiting for the new Olympus DS-2200.

5-0 out of 5 stars BM-1 Works GREAT With Dragon NatSpeak Pro
I checked around several places before I made my BM-1 purchase. First of all, these puppies were hard to find anywhere much less get anyone on the phone who could tell me very much about the product.I found what I was looking for at voicerecognition.com where I was able to speak to someone who could explain in more detail to me how the Sony BM 1 would work with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Pro which I also own. The accuracy with the recorder is about 98% which I'm very pleased with. The slide switch is great because all the main functions are in one place.

4-0 out of 5 stars Probably the best IC Recorder available as of 04/2004
I've had this unit for approximately 5 months, during which time it has been almost continuously strapped to my belt.

The unit is finished very well, with a brushed aluminum case and a belt case that allows quick removal of the recorder, and also for storage of spare Memory Sticks in 2 pouches on the side.

If you own other Sony devices, this one uses the same USB trransfer cable, and also of course takes the Memory Stick cards which are proprietary to the Sony brand.

The software was simple to install and operate, though I was a little disappointed that unlike the cheaper Sony ICD-MS515, this unitl is not shipped with the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. The Sony codec is not installed to the PC for encoding, only decoding. The internal mic has adjustable sensitivity, but I use it mainly on the conference microphone setting rather than the dictation, because I rarely use it for the latter. The intermal mic provides very adequate audio quality, picking up speech from 10-15 feet away without excessive noise, though I'm sure an external would be even better. The built in speaker is barely adequate!

However, when compares to that MS515, the operation of the unit itself is much simpler. Those of you that hate software menus and prefer solid switches and buttons will love this unit. Although there is a configuration menu, most operations are accomplished with the use of high quality switches. For example, the main toggle allows the user to switch between record, stop and play effortlessly, and inserting or adding to an existing recording is easily done. In fact, I would say that it's designed to operate like the earlier generation tape devices, but without the limitations of that medium - easy.

The quality of sound from this equipment is far in excess of what will normally be required. the High quality setting operates at a sampling rate of 44kHz, similar to CD quality, and when played back on a PC with good qualityh speakers, it shows. The medium quality is more than adequate for most purposes, and will provide you up to approx 20 hours of recording on a 128MB memory stick - more than adequate for me. I don't even bother using the lowest quality setting, although it's adequate for most purposes and substantially free from artefacts, as are the other modes.

I use NiMH batteries rather than disposable alkaline, my small contribution to the planet, and I do find that the batteries will last for about 4 hours of recording, whereas high performance alkalines would last much, muich longer. the main power switch can tend to be knocked on or off in the carry case, which can be annoying, but actually, it uses very little power unless in an active mode such as recording or playback, so I don't see that as a fatal flaw. Inserting and removing the Memory Stick is a snap, there being a solid click when the card is properly positioned, and the display confirms that the card is being read, and how much space (relatively) remains. The display is easy to read, and can be configured to tell you different information about such as time remaining on card, time spent on this track, volume levels (VU meters) etc. easily be pressing the display button.

All in all, although I have had the opportunity to trade this unit for another, I declined to do so. It's worth mentioning also that this recorder is sufficiently advanced to be used even for legal recording and transcription (IMO) with the optional paddle equipment.

As with all free information, your mileage may vary.... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice phone system
An incredible little phone system. We purchased a full compliment with 3 additional handsets a few months ago. So far it's been great. The default ring tone is nice but the other options are pretty annoying. The screen is easy to read and the menu system is very easy to navigate. The speakerphone is surprisingly clear. There has been no interference and our wireless computer network hub is only 10' away from the base. The Voice Enhance feature is pretty much worthless. It makes everyone sound like a Decepticon. The signal won't make it through our building's firewall about 200' away but I have yet to find a phone that will.

One point on caller ID: The handsets that do not answer a call will display "XX Missed Calls" but the caller ID data is still there. Hitting the up/down button will take you right to the numbers, just like on most cell phones. From the other reviews is sounded like Caller ID data would not be recorded on idle handsets.

This system replaces the hellish nightmare we had been using: the Siemens 2420 Gigaset. The Siemens phones had bad internal electrical connections that resulted in the earphone cutting out and non-functioning buttons. Those Siemens phones also had the worst menu system ever devised for a phone. Transferring a call was so complicated we got in the habit of physically handing the phones to the person the call was for. We're still getting used to being able to transfer calls!

1-0 out of 5 stars Misleading product
I purchased this phone, specifically for the mailbox functionality claimed by Panasonic ("Up to 3 mailboxes").

Unlike their other products, this product DOES NOT support mailboxes. Only after several conversations with their technical support did I "help" them come to the conclusion that their web site and product specs are incorrect.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good phone but could use better user interface
I've owned several multi handset systems over the last 4 years beginning with the product the started it all off, the Siemens 2420.Don't even get me started on how bad the Siemens cordless handset reception is.Everyone who uses one knows they are pathetic.Other than the poor reception, the Siemens 2420 and 8825 still have the best menu system and setup of any multi handset system, Panasonic 6500/6502 included!

Just so everyone understands, Panasonic, Uniden and most companies (I believe Vtech/AT&T included) use the same chipsets from www.dspg.com.This is why the ergonomics of most of these systems are the same or similar.I'll list the advantages and disadvantages I see in the DSP Group implemenation as compared to Siemens way of doing things....

Advantages:
-Excellent handset reception (even the 2.4Ghz models are OK and do not experience much interference)5.8 is very clear with no interference in my home.
-handset range is actually better than I suspected at 5.8Ghz (remember the higher the frequency the shorter the wavelength
and generally the shorter the range).
-Room/baby monitor

Disadvantages:
-no handset naming
-handsets show missed call even if the call is answered by another handset.
-no password lockout for settings (such as answering machine PIN).Can't lockout the kids from being nosey.
-only supports 2 digit answering machine PIN
-When remote checking answering machine it does not support reading of caller ID info for message (how many people say "call me" but you don't remember their #)?
-overly complex menu to manipulate answering machine from remote phone.
-does not set time by using caller ID info
-4 handsets only
-True Speech voice compression quality is horrible even if set to "enhanced" mode.

So, reception alone is enough to convince me to keep this system and toss my aged Siemens.Ergo-wise, I will definitely miss my Siemens.Unfortunately Siemens Corporate tells me they will not have a new phone system until the second half of 2005.

Sorry that this review turned into a comparison to Siemens, however I feel that DSP Group, Panasonic, Uniden, etc. who support them need to get of their rocker and begin to expand the feature-set of the chipsets to support features that people can really use!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY Satisfied with this phone
I purchased this phone with three additional handsets and I am extremely happy with it. The quality is excellent, compared to 2.4GHz phones, and it does not interfere with my wireless computer network. The range is excellent. All features are easy to use, clearly explained, and function perfectly. The phone has a great feel to it, and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not well executed
There are, at this time, exactly two 5.8 GHz 2-line expandable phone systems -- this Panasonic and the Uniden TRU8866 -- and I found it frustrating to research them because they're new and there's not much information out there. So my two cents, should it be helpful...I bought this Panasonic 6500B and three handsets, played with them for a week, and called today for an RMA number to return them. I'm now evaluating the Uniden system, which I think I'll end up keeping.

(For reference, I'm migrating from a Siemens gigaset 2420, 2-line 2.4GHz system, amazon item B00004R7R1. It's noted for a few quirks, but it's been solid for 6 years and I'd easily favor it over the Panasonic.)

Pros:
-- you only have two options at present, so this phone does deliver 2-line 5.8 GHz functionality
-- blinking antenna for ringing/message was a nice touch
-- all of the basic stuff you'd expect...intercom, speakerphone, Caller ID, etc.

Cons:
-- poor sound quality, even compared to my 2.4GHz system -- there was a constant hiss even when standing near the base, and it wasn't line noise. (There is a voice boost/voice enhancer function, though even the manual notes that it might amplify any existing line noise you may already have.)

-- one 'feature' that tilted me toward the panasonic was a 'shared' phone directory among the handsets and base. It actually works like the Siemens - you have to manually copy phonebook entries from one handset to another, so keeping them all in sync is a pain.

-- The handsets didn't behave like extensions of the same line; when you answer a call on one handset, all of the others display 'missed call', which you must then clear from EACH handset. So I always seemed to pick up a handset with a few missed calls, which were actually answered on a different handset.

-- Lack of an aux port so the phone can catch the distinctive ring and shuttle a call to the fax (btw, the Uniden doesn't have this either)

-- Misc. minor annoyances: Panasonic still uses a two-digit code for the answering machine, as it did ~15 years ago. Only eight ring tones (4 ring/4 melody), none of which were great.

-- basic interface is just crude compared to other modern phones/cell phones (I'm a techie with a UI/usability background, so I do have bias there).

Overall, I found this Panasonic to be a step down from the Siemens. I've only had the Uniden for a couple days, and I'd certainly say it's the better option of the two. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible product
I bought this phone through Amazon(4 lines system) for 2 years. (warranty is 1 year)after 1st year, the wireless handsets start to have a loud noise. I tried to call Panasonic customer service, no one answer the call. I left a message, no one call back. I tried the internet, and sent out tons of emails, no one answer.

DO NOT buy this product!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Unreliable handsets
After multiple positive experiences with Panasonic phones, I purchased a KTXGA400 system with four handsets.I have NEVER been this disappointed with Panasonic and can't imagine purchasing another phone system from them again. At this time (the system is 3 years old), only 1 of the 4 handsets can dial out without difficulty. The keypads simply fail.

A very poor purchase decission on my part.

1-0 out of 5 stars #1 on keypad fails on every one of them
These phones have a manufacturing/engineering/production defect that results in the number 1 on the keypad failing within a year or so (usually on day 366 of ownership!). Out of 5 phones purchased, 4 of ours have had the number 1 fail.2 other companies we deal with who have these phones have also had to replace their handsets because of this problem.Reviews all over the internet report this problem.Panasonic so far has done nothing to remedy the situation, although I am sure that they are aware by now that these are defective.Don't buy them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Run away from this product!RUN AWAY!
I regret my purchase of the Panasonic 4000B base-and-handsets two years ago, as it was useless right out of the box.So why am I writing this review 2 years after the fact?Because in moving recently, I rediscovered this $500 set of paperweights in a box where I'd stashed them after nearly going insane trying to make them work!
I'd had good luck with a Panasonic cordless previously, so the 4000B was my choice when I needed a feature-rich, expandable phone system for my small business.Um, wrong choice.
The god-awful battery problem, so frequently mentioned in Panasonic cordless reviews, rendered my handsets useless, and I mean USELESS!Talk-time was nil, and replacement batteries did nothing, (as did Panasonic customer service).Voice quality when speaking through the corded handset on the base was also mediocre (though speakerphone quality was very good - go figure.)
The less-than-intuitive operating system for the phone became a moot point since nothing worked anyway!
Look, I've had and still have various Panasonic stuff that works fine, but I can't stress enough what a dog this unit is.In addition, my only other review on Amazon is a scathing rip on another fatally-flawed Panasonic product (FP-155 fax machine), which has a design flaw (experienced by most of the reviewers)which turns it into - you guessed it - an expensive paperweight.
Panasonic, please consider this a wake-up call -- you're burning a lot of people with your poor engineering/design on some of these products, and losing an immense amount of goodwill.

3-0 out of 5 stars 1 key fails also - chronic problem
My parents bought 2 of the handsets - both #1 keys failed.Mine lasted a little longer, but the #1 key is also failing.have even taken the blasted phone apart to try and get it to work to no avail.buyer beware.

Other than this nasty little problem, the phone is great. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I was hoping for
So far, this phone is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted to try out the two handsets concept, and that works great. I have the second handset plugged into the bedroom outlet where no phone jack is required.I can't get over how much phone I got for the price. It has the built in answering machine, speaker phone, phonebook, multiple ring tones (about 20 I think), I could go on and on. There's really a ton of neat features, only half of which I'll probably ever use. You can even use the two handsets as walkie-talkies without even being near the base. The answering machine was easy to set up as are the handsets. Most of it is relatively intuitive, although if you need to refer to the manual, it is easy to understand. The handsets are small, which may or may not be to everyone's preference. I actually like them small, because they are lightweight and easy to attach to my belt. They aren't too lightweight either, meaning that they don't feel flimsy or empty at all.I have not experiened anything unpleasant in the sound quality. The sound has been crystal clear for me. Also, the range on this phone is very impressive. I walked to my neighbor's house with barely any interference.I have always had good experiences with the Uniden brand. Every time I've tried another brand, I've ended up unhappy. This model is sleek and stylish, compact and full of features. Most of all, the quality of sound and construction is excellent. I would highly recommend this phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars It simply works
I've been using this phone for a year without any problems. One sure sign that this is a quality product is that I never have to think about it.I'm not easily impressed with technological gadgets, but this system does everything it claims without my having to worry about it.

The sound quality is good. The handsets are comfortable to use.I keep them in their chargers when not in use and they perform without a hiccup. The answering machine works fine and there are plenty of cool ringtones from which to choose. There are other features that I haven't even explored. I'll leave those for people who need to communicate with extraterrestrials or whatever they are for.I'm sure they work fine too.:)

2-0 out of 5 stars Not happy at all with these phones ...
After reading all the positive reviews I thought this was the best phone out there.I was so excited to receive the phone, only to be quickly disappointed.

First, the phones are so tiny it's very uncomfortable. My ear was actually hurting so much I would get off the phone because of this. Also, you could hardly hold the phone with your shoulder because they were so small.

2nd - The sound quality was terrible!Sometimes it would be fine, but mostly there was a lot of problems.#1 being it would echo a lot, I could hear my voice echoing thru the phone. There would also be clicking.

3rd - The extra handset and base that came w/ the phone died within a week.Needless to say the phone is already on it's way back.

4th - I did not like how you couldn't listen to your messages while you are on the phone.I think that's common with some phones, but I do not like it.

5th - The answering machine was terrible! The greeting and any messages received were very muffled.

6th - I was also unhappy with the call record feature.I tried it out with a friend and as it was recording, it would constantly beep. That was annoying.

I gave this phone 2 stars instead of 1 since it does have some cool features, like 2 way walkie talkies and speakerphone from the handset ... these features did work well.

My last phone was a Uniden, it's lasted probably 10 years. So, I did not want to give up on Uniden all together just because of this phone.Yesterday I went to Walmart and bought a Uniden EXAI 5180 phone. So far so good. The phone itself is larger and much more comfortable. My ear no longer hurts! :)The quality has been great too!Answering machine is clear!Very happy with this phone!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great set for Under $100.00
This is the first review I have written on Amazon.com, but felt compelled to write one for this great set of phones from Uniden.I have only had them approx. 1 week, but the sound and feature set is great.I had one small issue with static and the echo mentioned in other reviews, but after moving the base station to a more open area (instead of inside an entertainment center), this cleared up.The sound/reception is great, now.

Pros:
1.Phonebook copy.Contacts stored in phone can be copied to all handsets. Many other phones will not do this.
2.Speaker phone on each handset.
3.Digital answering machine is very user friendly. You can check messages from any handset, which is very handy.
4.20 ring tones to choose from, and distinctive ring tones can be assigned to your contacts so you know who is calling just by hearing the ring.
5.Color (silver casing with orange backlighting) is very cool, and highly visible in low-light situations.

Cons:
1.When on a call, if you switch to another handset due to battery/location/etc., you have to transfer the call to that handset. You cannot just pick up another handset and push "Talk".This disconnects the call you are on.This is explained in detail in the manual, and is fairly simple to do, but annoying if your phone battery is about to give out.
2.Numbers stored in contacts do not appear that way on caller id, as with many cell phones. Not a very big drawback, but would be nice to see "MOM CELL" pop up instead of "Birmigham, AL 205-###-###".I store phone numbers for a reason, so I don't have to remember them.

Conclusion:
This is one of the best sets around for under $100.00.In most cases, you can find them in a 3 phone set for around $90.00.The feature set is excellent, the phones look great, and battery life seems to be very good. The use of NI-MH batteries is nice, as the NI-CD batteries seem to develop a memory and not hold a charge much quicker than the NI-MH or lithium batteries.I would definitely recommend this set to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovin' it!
What an upgrade this was from my old Panasonic 900mhz phone.

The phone is great. What stands out from this phone.
The good

-Bright screen and easily readable text.
-Clarity of sound, no static.
-Easy to setup, took about 5 minutes.
-Small, stylish, fits in your hand nicely.
-Answering machine is easy to function, the messages are loud and clear.

Not bad of a deal forunder $100 for a two headset phone. My first Uniden and I very much like this one over the Panasonic phones I've used for years. Highly recommended. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I recently purchased this phone and have to say that I am disappointed in the corded base phone. It sucks. For one, the mouth piece/microphone is several inches from my mouth because the overall handset is too short. Two, it has a strange echo sound to it that I immediately disliked. Three, why should I have to set the time and date on a caller ID phone? This phone was meant to replace my aging Nortel phone but it isn't even in the same ballpark. I am returning the phone and shopping on Ebay for another Nortel.

5-0 out of 5 stars All The Bells & Whistles
I did alot of research before I purchased this phone. I've had it going on a month now. there's nothing I do not like about it!. You can even turn off the featured beeps that let you know you have messages waiting. The sound quality is exceptional. Everything this phone has to offer is well worth the price. I especially like the monitor feature. I have a little one.

2-0 out of 5 stars No headset capaibility on base unit, good phone otherwise
I bought this phone to gain headset capability on a corded base while still having a cordless handset.I am returning the phone, as it does not allow the use of a headset on the corded base. Not only does the phone lack a 2.5mm jack or a second audio port, the base is incompatible with universal headset adapters (confirmed by Uniden customer service). It's too bad, beacuse the cordless phone audio quality is as good as I've heard.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent phone but poor handset quality
I just recently purchased this phone and found the other editorials useful in setting up the system. However, I have to agree with the opinions of the quality of sound in the handset is horrible. It sounds like your in a hollow cave. It's easier to grab the handset & hook up a headset. The speaker works great and the volume controls are easy. It's basically a no brainer.I live in the country and found when the power goes out having a cordless phone is useless therefore the corded phone does the trick.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's just not Siemens
I regret purchasing this phone, but there's really nothing better out there.

I have only owned it for a month now.

My Siemens Gigaset System was made inoperable by a wicked caller id bug they don't seem to have plans to fix. It was also 2.4 Ghz and my microwave and 802.11b network caused the handsets to pop. I wanted a new expandable system that had a similar form factor (corded speakerphone on the base) but at a fraction of Siemens inordinately high cost.

The Uniden TRU888 is really the only expandable system on the market that could ever compare. I bought it. Now I know it just barely compares Siemens (who seems to be bowing out of the consumer home phone market in the US).

Here's why I say that.

The Uniden is boxy. The Siemens had that European sexy and sleek minimalist thing going on - it regularly showed up on television sitcoms, probably because it was so cool looking. I felt the Siemens was an accessory to my house. The Uniden is embarrassing.

The Uniden has this silly belt clip that sticks out a good inch or more - making it impossible to actually fit under a bet and making it fatter than it ever really need be. The whole form factor is clunky, although the base handset is extremely heavy - something I actually like.

The Uniden has this annoying beep beep beep that the base announces until you finally check your messages. If you are using call screening or "let the machine get it" while you are watching a movie or having a nice Easter dinner, it will nag the crap out of you until you finally go listen to new messages.

The Uniden has the day and time on the handset which is nice, but it is only the weekday (Mon, Tue, Wed) - not the actual date. This is system-wide and it means that when you get a voice mail, you have to figure out the date for yourself, it just tells you the weekday. Is it really so hard to account for the month and year? No.

The Uniden does not display the caller id information on the voice message! The Siemens, in contrast, even let you "call back" while you were listening to a message just by picking up the handset.

The Uniden has the goofiest user interface I could have ever dreamed up. It is extremely clunky - almost to the point that my wife prefers to not use it. Accessing the speakerphone, the phone book, especially changing settings is an exercise in patience.

The Uniden hides the caller id information or the number you are dialing as soon as you push talk. I suppose I could thumb through the caller id list or the redial list, but it's just another example of a weak user interface.

The Uniden phone book works basically the same as the Siemens did (why can't a USB interface sync with Outlook contacts?) with the exception that the Uniden cannot delete the book at one time. With 40 entries on 2 handsets + the base, clearing the phone book is a carpal tunnel-causing experience, deleting 120 records with no less than three actions each.

The Uniden does not do a good job of displaying the phone book entry with the incoming caller id information. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but it's nuts. The manual is helpful, but very inadequate. If you want anything past the basic stuff, it is no real help.

The Uniden is lacking so many features:

It simply doesn't handle area codes at all; it's horrible. There is no barring certain area codes. There is no inserting a call around prefix. The handset does not work if cradled. There is no way to turn features off - like storing caller id or the annoying beep beep beep on the base. There is no way to restrict dial or pick-up access to a single handset. Transferring a call does not work like you expect. And all the other great stuff I enjoyed with the Siemens phone.

It does a few things well, though:

The handset speakerphone is superb. The illuminated keyboard is great. Distinct ring tones for phone book entries is cool. The ability to manage global settings from a handset is neat. The day and time on the handset display is handy.

But that's about it.

The reality is, I had no choice but to buy this phone. There is nothing on the market that is half as good - as far as I have found - and Siemens seems to be out of the home phone market. Had I never owned a better phone, I would likely be enamored with this Uniden. But once you taste the best, the rest just isn't.

If I have to say one good thing about this phone it would be that it is inexpensive. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor range - had to return
I have a 900 MHz DSS Uniden EXI8965 cordless phone which I have had for a few years and have been *very* satisfied with it.It has excellent voice quality, good range, and great battery life and I hope to continue to use this phone for a long time in the future.

However, I have a den which does not have a phone jack and therefore I need a dual handset phone so I can have keep a handset in the den at all times. I have been searching for a dual handset cordless phone for some time with the following features:
(1). Fairly large and comfortable feeling handset. I guess I am old fashioned (and old) and like the larger handsets much better than the smaller ones.
(2). Good voice quality.
(3). Good range.
(4). The ability to use both handsets at the same time. Plus the ability when using one handset, to simply pick up the other handset and join in the conversation.
(5). Speaker in the handset.
(6). Caller ID/Call Waiting
(7). Chain dialing for long distance and calling card usage.
(8). At least 50 memory locations for storing caller ids.
(9). Five or more last number redials.
(10). Lighted keypad.
(11). Large display with date and time of call, caller name, and caller number on one screen.
(12). Selectable ring tones by caller.I now have BellSouth Complete Choice local service where you can have a distinctive ring for up to 10 different numbers.Using this feature, I can tell when my kids or grandkids are calling before I answer the phone. However, I can't tell which one is calling because there is only one distinctive ring.I was looking for something like the AT&T VIP ring feature.
(13). Misc other features like Intercom, handset paging, and fairly secure transmission. No answering machine capability.
(14). I didn't want to pay over about $100 for the phone set.

I found the Panasonic KX-TG2357B on sale at Staples ($20 rebate). It seemed to have gotten pretty good reviews on the Internet for the most part so I decided to go ahead and buy it.The phone had an answering system which I didn't need but the $20 rebate was enough to help convince me to buy it anyway. I came home and unpacked it and plugged it in for its 6 hour charge. I installed the base station at one end of the house and the extra handset at the other end of the house in my den. After charging, I began testing the phones out.

Pros: Nice set of features. Nice sizing of handsets for me. Attractive phone. I liked the handset speakerphone. Not a bad price.

Cons: There were two main problems:
(1). *Range*. My house is about 70' long. The base was at one end of the house and the second handset was in the den at the other end. There is a brick wall between the base and the second handset. When using the phone in the den, the reception was bad. The conversation kept breaking up to a moderate degree. If I moved on the other side of the brick wall, the reception seemed to be fine.I could have moved the base closer to the second handset but I needed the Intercom capability between both ends of the house and I would have lost this had I moved the base. I understand that wireless networks, microwaves, etc. can affect 2.4ghz phones.I don't have a wireless network, nor to my close neighbors plus the microwave wasn't running.
(2). Sound Quality. The sound quality on my end was pretty good if I wasn't too far from the base station. However, the sound quality for the person to whom I was talking was not good, according to the person who was helping me test out the phones. He said it sounded like I was calling from a not so good cell phone. I could call him on my Uniden and he said the sound quality from it was very good - just like a corded phone.

Other Comments:
(1). Talking Caller Id. I liked the idea of the talking caller id. However, for me, it did not prove to be that useful. The main reason is that the phone does not tell you who is calling until after it rings twice. Usually by that time, I have already picked the phone up and checked the caller id. I believe for me, a distinctive ring tone for certain callers would be more useful. However, for some people, I could see where the talking caller id would be useful. I understand that this is a limitation of the phone company, not Panasonic, as the caller id information is not transmitted until after the second ring. As other reviewers have noted, it does not always pronounce the names correctly and even provides some humor in the way it pronounces names at times.
(2). Caller ID display. It takes two screens to display all the caller id information when you receive a call.I believe the number of the caller is displayed on the second screen. The phone alternates back and forth between the first screen and the second screen of information. This is not critical but just an annoyance. My Uniden displays all the information on one screen which I like.
(3). You have to press one button to answer the phone and another to hang up.I prefer to press Talk to answer and to press Talk again to hang up.Not critical - just my personal preference.

Couple more comments:

Since I love my old Uniden cordless phone, I looked into getting a dual handset Uniden phone. However, it appears that you can only talk on one handset at a time. At least this is the case on the cheaper Uniden phones. If anyone knows differently or has found a dual handset phone that you are happy with which has the features I am interested in, please e-mail me.

I mentioned earlier that I bought the Panasonic phone from Staples. When I returned it they were very nice and helpful and I would recommend them. I am not associated with them in any manner whatsoever.

I am still searching for the perfect dual handset cordless phone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone to work with VOIP.
I originally purchased this phone to use with VONAGE VOIP service. Then I realize you can actually rewire your home phone switch box to have all the phone jacks in your house to run off 1 single VOIP line.So that kinda destroyed the purpose for me to buy this phone buy still, I don't regret my decision on purchasing this phone.I must say I am a big Panasonic phone fan. After I purchased this phone, I realize now I have 4 Panasonic phones in my house (2 from this Dual handset, 1 older Panasonic 2.4Ghz cordless phone, and 1 fax machine).All-in-all great product with nice features.Surely this phone doesn't pronounce the name from Call ID that well, but I am usually able to hear who is calling me.

One drawback... Pain in the A$$ for trying to enter names into phone book. For example, when you want to type MONEY.Notice M, N, O are all on #6, you can't just wait 2 seconds and press the number again to have the cursor move to next block, you have to press "6" and "->" then "6" to have enter "MO".

Still a great phone after you entered the phonebook first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone
Great phone system for the price.Happy with everything.
Only con is that the speaker phone on handsets do not go louder.
Still sound very good though.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked for 5 days a quit
Base handset lost connection with base station. Before this, the range was very poor.A waste of money.Look for something else, and not a V-Tech.They are bad too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Features, Good Value
We moved recently and our old, reliable Radio Shack answering machine/phone didn't survive the move.So we found and bought the Panasonic 2357 and for the most part are happy with it.Other reviewers have covered the key operational points well, so I'm just chiming in to say that battery life looks to be good thus far and audio quality is very good to excellent.I like the features and the layout. The handset is a little bit slippery and on longer calls, my thumb gravitates towards the rubber cover that blocks the headset plug hole to get a better grip.Range is excellent and the talking caller ID is useful. ...
