Southwestern Bell FF2128
Same audio problems with ours, only the microphone is weak as well as the speaker.Also, we can't seem to find a replacement battery that works, after 3 trips to RadioShack!This one's going in the dumpster real soon...

Barely audible sound quality
There are a number of nice features on this phone, but they are all overshadowed by its extremely poor sound quality. We have the handset turned up to the maximum, and yet we can often barely hear people on the other end of the line.In addition, since we bought it there have been mysterious clicks occurring on the line -- everyone is constantly asking us if our line is tapped.

The sound quality of the outgoing answering message is also poor. Incoming messages sound fine, though.

The battery life is fine. But the sound quality really makes this a hard phone to use. We are buying something else, after owning it for only two months. ... Read more

Part of the Freedom Phone line of products, Southwestern Bell's FF905 telephone offers cordless convenience and, with the 900-MHz frequency band, provides improved range and clarity over many older cordless phones. Simple, sturdy, and uncluttered, the FF905 uses established analog technology and a well-chosen feature set that's easy to set up, learn, and use. The included instruction sheet reviews the seven buttons and two switches (in addition to the usual 0 through 9, #, and *) that operate the handset.

In our test of the FF905, we obtained a good, low-distortion signal within reasonably close range of the base (about 50 feet), with sound as good as some corded phones. Beyond that distance, the signal began to fade, introducing expected noise and static in proportion to distance. At about 500 feet, the handset lost contact with the base. The performance in range was normal for this class of phone. Oddly, the base did not automatically disconnect when the handset went out of range, so our phone line stayed "off the hook" until we returned the handset to the base several hours later.

Many cordless phones offer a wealth of features that most people never use. The FF905 includes the important ones: 900-MHz cordless operation, memory dialing, and a page function to help you locate the handset. With its straightforward design and high-quality construction, the FF905 represents solid value.

Go with digital
There is a lot of static with this phone and the charge doesn't hold.Sometimes the conversations sound like your talking from inside a tunnel.We're going to switch to digital.I wish I had noticed this was an analog phone when I bought it.

Ok, but won't hold a charge
This phone works fine but it will not hold a charge.We leave it on the base overnight.But if we use it for any amount of time, after about 20 minutes, it starts beeping which means the battery is low.

Phone failed after less than two months
This is a piece of garbage. The phone won't hold a charge for more than one call. I've had it for less than two months. Don't waste your money on these jerks.

Great phone but picks up a bit too much ambient noise
I live near a major highway and when the window is open, the phone picks up a lot of the highway noise.Other than that It's a great phone.

Good, handy, easy to install & use, but no headset jack
The phone is a good, handy cordless phone that serves the basic functions needed in a telephone. Sound quality is good, range is excellent, ringing is fine. The cord for plugging in the voltage adaptar could be longer--maybe a problem if you don't have an electric outlet nearby.

You get what you pay for
The price of this phone is a reflection of the quality.It is cordless and my particular model will allow me to plug the headset in and walk around but the sound quality is horrible.Withut the headset using the handset alone I think you'd be better off using some cans and string.This is not a high quality phone.

Phone did not work - new purchase
Bought this phone for my daughter - It never worked.Charged it and Charged it - all it did was flash and never was able to use it.I returned it.

Not a good value
This phone (at least the unit I purchased) had very poor sound quality and range. I noticed a slight amount of static when standing right next to the base unit, that only got worse as I walked away and behind a few walls. To compare, I did the same thing to a VTech unit that I purchased last year for the same price (but with a digital answering system) and that phone was silent (except for the sound of human voices on the other end).

Best to spend your heard-earned cash on a more worthy unit.

This is NOT a cordless headset!
Cordless headsets do exist, but not at this price -- I've found out to my chagrin. I don't know how anybody could describe this as a "cordless headset" seeing as how the headset has a whopping great cord coming out of it, which needs to be plugged into the phone before it can be used. (Note that it only needs to be plugged into the phone, not into the base unit, so you CAN walk around, if you've clipped the phone onto your belt or something like that.) I'm keeping the phone, because I needed a new one, but I'm not a happy bunny: I feel as though I was conned. A couple of other, minor complaints: (1) the headset only works with the microphone on the left, not on the right; and (2) there's a really stupid flip-panel which performs no function whatsoever except to make it that much more difficult to dial a number. (It can be pulled off, however, with brute force.)

Less than Expected...
I returned this item, because I was expecting it to be a "truly mobile" phone. The product description is unclear...I thought that you could put the headset on and walk around the house talking on the phone with both hands free, but unfortunately, you have to be connected at the base unit while wearing the headset. The handset is portable, but the headset/hands-free feature is not. Okay if you want to sit and talk hands-free, but not what we wanted or expected. Great Phone

The readout on the handset is very small, and difficult to read the caller id feature. Also, there is no dial pad on the base unit that hinders the use of the speakerphone. THE WORST PHONE I'VE EVER OWNED
After having left my old cordless out in the rain, I (obviously) needed a new phone. I went to the local department store and bought this phone. We had problems from DAY 1! At first, I didn't realize it was related to the phone, which is why I never returned it. Like the others, I got feedback, the phone sometimes would just shut off with no apparent reason, and anytime I wanted to use my dial-up Internet connection, I had to disconnect this phone, because it would interfere with my connection. After owning this phone less than a year, I'm having to buy a new one - my last one lasted over ten years, and probably would have lasted longer if I hadn't left it out in the rain!

Great Phone! This phone has worked great for me!
Despite other reviews on this phone, I think this phone is a great phone. I've had this phone for quite some time and in fact I have two, and they both work perfectly. I did hear a rumor that some of these had some kind of defect but neither of mine do... as a matter of fact I'm selling one because I only need one now. Like I said... despite the other reviews this is a great phone. It saves lots of numbers, no matter how you sit it on the charger it charges (facing in or out).It works great at long ranges too, and the memory works wonderfully.

I, too, am returning this phone. A few minutes into every call, this phone would start with an ear-piercing electronic feedback, even those times when I was on the extension. The toll free customer service helpline was easy to get through to, but the company could not offer any concrete help. I'd advise you not to buy this phone.

I ordered a Southwestern Bell ID450. I was sent an FF915TE, which I guess is the same thing. However, I was never able to get the phone to work. I called tehir help center 6 times and followed all directions. FInally they told me to go to a Radio Shack and have the battery checked. Radio Shack said they were unable to check the battery. Best 2 line of 3 brands tried
This was my original 2 line cordless and the only one that has held up.Because of an active family that heavily uses phones we have 3 2 line cordless phones.2 other brands I have tried either need continuous battery replacements, drop lines when quickly switching from one line to another or just decide not to not to work with their home stations every so often.Other reviews that suggest more humming and static than other clear channel phones confuse me, I have the opposite.I have 2 P--------s and both have terrible background noise.The 3 brand I threw away after it decided to not work more often than work.The only negative about the Toshiba, it does not have an answering machine so I have to look to other brands for that feature.That's why I'm here, trying to figure out whether to try another.

Good value
This 2-line cordless 900MHZ phone is a good value. The battery life is very good (be sure to fully charge the battery before first use) and the dual keypad is very handy. Biggest cons: no headset jack and it's too easy to disconnect the phone when it's craddled between head and shoulder.

Battery Problems
Nice phone, good feel and clear reception. Now its in the cupboard notbeing used because the battery life is useless. Planning to buy new batterybut based on these other reviews I dont hold much hope. I also have a 2line panasonic, never a problem with that phone.

Great phone
I've never had any kind of trouble with this phone.Reception is great, and the battery really lasts a LONG time.I've often left it off the charger for a day and a half with probably two hours of talk time in there,and it has been fine.You can slip it in your pocket, too, if you are soinclined (and you have big pockets).All-around, a good phone.

This phone has survived three teenage girls...
We bought this phone about a year ago and have been tickled pink with it. The touch pad is a good size and the one line/two line feature is easy to use.

I haven't had any trouble with the batteries. And we use this phoneconstantly. Once charged, the battery lasts a good 2 hours+, maybe more.

The reception has always been good - even out into the back yard (thoughour back yard isn't very big...).

The two line feature is what I love themost. We have several two line phones and two portable phones, but this isthe favorite phone in the house.

The speaker phone fuction (and intercom)on the base is also very useful.

I was not pelased with the sound quality
While the features in this phone really grabbed my attention, I neverrealized how lousy analog phones sound.I have a 900mhz Sony cordlessphone and I never really thought about whether it was digital or analog.Ifound out the phone I already have is digital.

There are no specialfeautres on my phone, other than memory dialing.And I would just as soonkeep the phone I already have and return the Toshiba.

I have only praise for this phone!
Until this one, I never owned a phone with 900 MHZ technology, or Caller ID, so I have nothing to compare this to. However, the clarity and range are excellent, and the 3-line, 16 character backlit information screen isvery clear and easy to read.
