3-0 out of 5 stars PC Only!!!
Based on the reviews above, I purchased this to shuttle files between my Motorola V710 and Mac running OS 10.3.7.Despite many attempts to clean up/re-format the disk, and removing .DS_STORE files before returning the disk to my phone, I have yet to get it to work between the Mac and my phone. As soon as I put a file on the disk from my Mac, even in the appropriate folder followed by removing .DS_STORE files, the disk stops working, and blocks access to other files stored on the phone. The best I can do is format it on the phone, and use it for extra storage. So, if you want something to pass files between your Mac and phone, keep looking!

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have accessory for your mobile phone!
I am very pleased with this memory card. I was able to transfer movies, MP3's and pictures to my Motorola v710 effortlessly. You simply drag whatever you want on the phone onto the disk on your computer! With normal quality, you can store around 40 songs on your phone. Just make sure you have a memory card adapter that can read SD memory cards.

NOTE FOR MAC USERS: If you are using a computer with Mac OS X to transfer files be warned, the computer will create an invisible file in the memory card named ".DS_STORE" that, if not erased, will crash your phone. No permanent damage will be done, but you will be unable to access anything you put on your card. To delete the file, find a program that can see invisible files.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have!
I bought the SanDisk 128MB TransFlash because the storage space on my cool, new Motorola V710 from Verizon is sorta skimpy (...just 10MB).Now I have no problems storing all my photos, video clips, and MP3s.The TransFlash is really, really tiny.According to SanDisk, it's not meant to be handled regularly because the fairly soft casing is prone to damage if handled roughly.Remember to format the TransFlash first before using.Have fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Expanded storage for the Motorola V710
Recently I picked up the Motorola V710 (verizon) phone that is compatable with this memory card. The Transflash card used to be called T-Flash and was for some reason renamed. In the package an included transflash to SD memory adapter allows you to connect to a SD compatable memory reader for a PC through a USB 2.0 interface.

The first thing that struck me as amazing is the size of the transflash memory.120mb in a little device that I can barely keep hold of in two fingers. It tucks away neatly into the transflash memory port on the Motorola V710 unnoticed. This is one of the first phones to feature a built in 1.2 megapixel camera, mp3 player and video camera, so the need for expanded storage is a must.

I purchased a cheap SD memory reader and plugged the transflash card to the SD adapter and it immediately read as a removable storage drive on my Windows XP based computer. One problem I did have was files kept getting corrupted when I tried to read them on the phone.I fixed this by formatting the card (just like formatting a built in hard drive). Not sure if this was a problem of how the phone formatted the memory when it built all the default directories or if it was the reader or card itself. But the format fixed it with no further issues.

5-0 out of 5 stars Infoglobe is really cool
I've had one of these little toys since Christmas and it works beautifully, no trouble at all. Now I did have probelms with the first one, it wouldn't really ever work, but I think it was damaged because the Radio Shack it was purchased at only had 2, and my mom bought the other one and hers didn't work either. I ordered this one and it has been awesome. I love the messages I can set myself, it has never failed to display an incoming number, you can see the info from across the room, and the whole thing is just really cool in appearance.
Sure the engine is audible- if you're about 3 inches from it! Mine sits on my computer desk next to my phone, and I never evcen notice any sounds. Friends who come over and see it are fascinated.

4-0 out of 5 stars Info Glode....Not bad!
I consider myself lucky after what I have been reading.I do have the version that takes the 3 aaa batteries and for a week have not had a problem.A little noise but when you normally set things up, it is quiet and you have to understand how it works. It is bound to make a little noise....hey, it is a toy!Have fun and enjoy.

The only thing I agree with is the setup is somewhat confusing.Read the instructions a few times and you will figure out how to do it but there are still a lot of "clicks" to enter your 6 messages.

I do want one at work too.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's cool enough for the money.Get it.
Very cool.Has value as a nifty clock/calendar even if you don't hook it to your phone line (though I have).I've often considered getting another one for work just for the "ooh, ahh" effect--and I wouldn't use it as caller ID there.I also enjoy that its operation is so intuitive (I never have to get the instructions out).

And yes, the motor is audible, but with just a bit of trial and error you can find a placement in which the noise is minimal.

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not work properly
I saw this in the store and was excited by its geek appeal, so I had my girlfriend get this for me for my birthday. It has so much potential, but unfortunately it is wasted by the simple fact that it does not do its job well.I checked the other reviews on Amazon which mention many of the same problems, so I know it's not just my unit. These things just were not programmed well, which makes it basically worthless since it doesn't do its job.

* Misses many incoming calls.
* Gets confused and displays random question marks instead of useful info.
* Randomly loses its settings (messages, auto-off time).
* Hard to program.
* Constantly displays annoying "Olympia InfoGlobe" message instead of something more interesting.
* Numbers never expire from the unit unless you manually display each one.
* Poor interface requires excessive button pushing to display each number.
* Makes a good bit of noise unless you sit it on a pillow.
* When it does show a call, it often takes too long for the number to scroll into view.

In short, find another way to get caller ID.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cool - but needs more refinement
I liked this concept so much, however the actually function was not as good as I expected. The machine uses a spinning electrode to display information. This make a fairly audible humming sound that bothered me.

My biggest complaint is that the globe displays information all the time.I was hoping the unit would have a "sleep mode", and would only display a incoming call, but it doesn't.Thus if the unit is turned on, the unit displays date and time, or other messages 24-hrs a day. This was distracting, we sent the unit back for a refund. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Wireless headset
When this unit is working, it's great, I have had a lot of problems with it cutting out. I call the customer help line, and they are very nice, but the fixes they have been suggesting are temporary at best. They are now sending me a new battery which they hope will solve the problems but I'm not convinced this will work. Great idea, they just don't seem to have the technology down pat. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Quality. Limited range
Hello,
I am a scientist in the field ofMicrowave/RF circuits and systems. I considered several but finally chose the Jabra A210 along with the BT250 Jabra headset.

A few things to note:
1) swithcing on and off is not very intuitive, you have to hold down the power button for "n" number of seconds, the lights will flash in a certain pre-ordained sequence, but if you do hold down the power button more than what is required (this is sketchy), then the appliances enter set up mode, and the pairing between the adapter and the headset might be lost. BUT this set (headset and the adapter) have 8 hours talk time and 240 hours standby time (as per manufacturer's claim), even if it performs up to 80% of the reported claim, you wont have to mess around too much with the power switch. You can comfortably use it during the day and come home at night and recharge the set.

2) Quality of sent and received signals. Please note: The jabra A210 has a pin which can be put in to 3 settings. Setting # 1 is for motorola phones, Setting # 3 for all other phones and Setting # 2 is for when you feel discomfort in setting # 1 or # 3. I have a LG VX 6100 NON-BLUETOOTH phone from verizon. I tested the settings extensively by calling a friend. (Thanks Guddu.) I tried setting # 1, there were 2 noticeable problems: (a) My friend complained that the volume of my voice was low, but the clarity was good.
(b) I could not use the button on the head set to connect and disconnect calls.
But I must mention, I could receive my friend's voice in absolutely loud and clear tones.

Both the problems were alleviated when I used setting # 3 on the adapter. In fact, when I started using setting # 3, my friend complained that my voice was too loud! There werent any issues related to clarity.

3) Range: The manufacturer claims this to have a range of 10 meters (30 feet). But at the same time, in its manual, it is written that if there are objects in the wireless signal path between the adapter and the headset, the sound quality will suffer.

Now we have to consider 2 trade offs for every RF design. (a) power (b) size. We all want the smallest devices with maximum power and range. Well physics and electronics sharply put us back in our places. If you want greater range, you need to put out signal with great field strength. That needs higher battery consumption, high efficiency non linear amplifiers and large antennas. Microstrip patch antennas (generally used for their low profiles and small size) resonate to a particular frequency if their length is correctly defined. But with design modifications, this length can be shortened, but the gain suffers. Also, thanks to the FCC, we have very strict limitations on the frequency bands available (the higher the frequency, the shorter the wave length, and thus smaller the antenna and consequently higher the gain). FCC makes many RF devices work at lower frequencies than we RF engineers would like them to operate at. Also, due to fear of signal from one device interferring with other devices, FCC puts limits on the amount of power a device can put out.

Given these considerations, the A210 and BT250 which are required to have excellent power efficiency (8 hours talk time and 240 hours stand by time) and also small and compact size (very small batteries and small antennas) provide a range which is not quite satisfactory. I walked at a radius of 10 feet and even with walls, metal partitions, etc, the signal strength was not that affected. How ever more than 10 feet, the signal had so much noise in it, I had to move closer to the adapter.

To be honest with you, I am not happy with the range. I dont think the range is $130 worth (for the adapter and headset = $50 + $80). Period. For a 10 feet range the cost should have been more like $50 (for both).

So basically, we have reviewed some basic factors. However, there is one major design flaw that I would like to bring to your attention. That is: The head set and the adapter enter in to stand by mode after one minute of non-usage. So even when you are in the middle of a call and both parties keep silent for more than a minute, the head set and the adapter stop communicating. The call is NOT disconnected. You can either pull the adapter jack out of the cell phone and put it back in, or press the volume key on the cell phone (basically do some thing with the cell phone) and you will be able to resume the conversation on the bluetooth devices. How ever this is not voice operable. Meaning, if the adapter and the headset enter in to stand by mode during the conversation when both parties to the call are silent, even when they both start talking, the adapter and the head set do not start communicating.

This is extremely uncomfortable. If I have a blue tooth head set and adapter kit for which I have paid $130 or more, then I want absolute mobility with out any reason to come back to the adpater unless I do so from my own free will.

Lastly, here is a recommendation for the people who designed this set. You need to incorporate greater features in to this adapter and head set. It should be able to not only handle voice data but also music and other types of audio information. This means you might need to use a more efficient method of modulation. Maybe you are using FSK which is constant envelope modulation (I deal with military and radar communication, so I dont know what modulation is used for blue tooth), but you cannot include too much information in to the FSK signal. Try using QAM, maybe not a very high order QAM, but some thing capable of handling all audio information. All you will need to change in the design is: a new power amplifier which is high efficiency and linear. Probably a class E or Class F with feed forward or Envelope elimination and restoration (Kahn) or Doherty principles. It is simple. You will need a one time engineering development cost, but in the long term - with market domination and mass production, it will more than make up for it.

As for buyers. If you are rich, a techno geek or a business person constantly on the phone - Go for this. It is good.
But if you have limited resources (money) then buy a simple wired hands free kit. In fact at times when the battery is down or I have to move to get back within range, I long for the reliability of a wired handsfree kit.

1-0 out of 5 stars no phone
the nokia 7280 is not listed.I have one and want a car charger for it

5-0 out of 5 stars A very good and reliable charger
I bought this charger primarily for road trips. It takes me about 1 1/2 hour to charge my phone, and hence you might not need it that much if all you do is commute. It does however add the advantage of unlimited talk time in your car, whenever you do need it.

The charger has a very solid feel, and it appears to be very good craftsmanship. It has proven to be very durable. I've owned and frequently used this charger for more than 2 1/2 years now, and I've never had anything go wrong with it. In my opinion, it works better than you could expect after that long of a time. It's been kept in my car permanently since I bought it, and by that has been exposed to excessive Arizona heat for weeks on end. With the desert heat comes the cooldown at night, so the temperature difference it's been exposed to has also been great. The charger has a convenient, little light to show you when it's charging.

The charger's cord is a "feisty" one, so don't expect it to be too cooperative if you try to stretch it very far.

All in all a charger you should expect to charge your Nokia phones (no surprises there?) for a long, long time, no matter what you put it through. The charger is very reliable and durable, and I highly recommend it. 5 STARS!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Cell Charger
We upgraded phones and I needed a charger for my car so I orderd one for my car and at the price Amazon had it for what a deal. Also, it shipped very quickly. Then my husband borrowed mine and I had to order another for him.So we have two of them and they both work very well and we are pleased with their performance. These are fast chargers and they work very well.I had heard, however, that fast chargers are not good for cell batteries. That they can wear out your batteries faster but was not sure so if you have any doubts ask your phone dealer or battery provider.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works for me!
I needed a car charger for my Nokia phone but did not want to pay [$$$] for one at the celluar stores. The cord is a little short but this is fine with me since it still reaches the passenger seat or the cup holder. It serves its purpose. It's nice not having a long cord in the way. Thanks!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, works with most digital systems too
Plantronics has been in the phone business a long time, and it shows in the M12 amplifier. The unit is fairly easy to install. You start by pluggin it into the handset jack on the phone (some digital phone systems like Toshiba Strata Dk will offer an optional headset card - use that as you'll get better phone operation).

You may need 2 AA batteries (or the optional AC adapter), depending on your phone system.Plug in your headset (make sure its compatiable with the quick disconnect plug on the amplifier), and adjust a slider on the side of the amp to select one of five settings (use the one that gives the best quality sound and operation, you won't harm the amp by experimenting). Now you are ready to dial.

What makes this a good product? It is easy to install and configure, sound quality is excellent, and plantronics build quality is exceptional. It should last a long time and endure heavy use, even in a professional call center.

One note, this amplifier will not work with dial in the handset phones. Not too many of those around these days, but its good to be aware of it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for browsing the web
I have a limited number of phone jacks in my home, and the RC930 helps out alot.Without it, I would have phone line strung everywhere.I use the RC930 for internet access for my computer upstairs.I usually connect between 33.2 and 34.6 Kbps with the units about 15 feet apart.I have had fluctuations in the speed from 19.2-37.4 Kbps depending on what I have operating at the time. It's a little slow, but not bad for surfing the web or playing some online games.I wouldn't recommend it if you download large files, and I keep a long phone cord for those purposes. If you don't mind phone cord all over the place, then I'd recommend just purchasing the extra phone cord; however, if you'd like an alternative, then the RC930 works fine. The price is way too high for what it's worth, though. This is why I only give it 3 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Used with DVR
I was quite concerned with buying this based off of the mixed review it has received. However, having used it now for several months, I am totally satisfied with this product. Nightly since I installed it, it has not missed downloading the programming from Panasonic for my Replay TV DVR.

I have it set up all the way on the far end of my kitchen going to the far end of my living room (about 35 feet). I have it plugged in in my kitchen pretty much underneath a flourescent lamp, still with no issues. Recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Going to swith to Phonex PX 441
I had the same problems as the other reviewers. It worked great with my Tivo for 6 months and now has a LOT of static, and thus won't get a full cycle with my Tivo now.I'm going to replace it with the Phonex PX 441, which doesn't have any bad reviews here at Amazon and is a little less expensive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Track Record
I purchased the cordless phone jack for my DirecTV system, and it worked fine for three months. Then it broke down. I reset the system and it worked great for another two days before breaking down again. I decided I must have gotten a lemon (it happens), and I purchased a new system. The new one lasted all of two weeks. So now I'm running a 25' telephone cord across the living room, and hoping that someday in the near future the bugs will be worked out of this otherwise very handy technology.

4-0 out of 5 stars Had the same problems, but figured it out...
I was having all the same frustrations as the other reviewers.I had horrible humming and buzzing - it was quite frustrating.I thought it had something to do with the range, but after playing with it for an hour or so, I discovered that this device *needs* to be plugged directly into your wall jacks to work as intended. If you plug it into a surge protector or UPS (like I had done), you get a bunch of noise and really [bad] connections.

Now that I've plugged both units directly into wall jacks, my FAX machine is now happily working. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic purchase!
I originally had the Siemens Gigaset before this model and lightning struck my home. When I got ready to replace old the system, I knew I wanted the same great quality. This phone is wonderful, everything can be done from any handset. Something that I didn't discover until we moved in to a multiple story home and my neice was playing with the phone is the intercom feature. It lets you page any one or all the phones at any time, even when you're online! I can page and talk to people all over the house without going back up and down the stairs. It has kept me from having to yell through the house whenever I needed something or someone. It's a great purchase, and if lighting strikes again, I'm getting the same phone system or the upgrade.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone
Was looking for an easy solution to phone quality and ease of use with an integrated answering system.Persistence in reading the documentation thoroughly was key in setting the phones up properly. The quality is really far and away much better than any other phones I've used.I love quality stuff so this fit me to a T.Price was good.So far, after about 6 months we've had no problems.I am a very satisfied customer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Phone System - Excellent range, and features
Well, first to the reviewer "m_night2" from Savannah, who said you can use "regular" AA batteries in this phone... that is NOT true. The manual explicitly says that you CANNOT do that, and that the batteries must be NiCD or NiMH rechargeables. This is probably the reason he had trouble with his phone, because regular AA alkaline batteries are different voltage and milliamps than NiMH rechargeables.Use the right batteries and these phones work great.

The features are well thought out - everything is controllable from the handset. One nice thing is that you can pick up your messages from ANY handset. And you can set options from any handset. One of the dissapointments is that the phones do not replicate the directory from handset to handset, so you have to reenter all the names and numbers in every handset. (I really didn't expect that to work, but I was hoping.)

Great buy overall. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Designed for office telephones, the Plantronics H51-M12 monaural headset offers fine audio controls while still allowing you to hear what's happening in your office environment.

Unlike simpler units, the Plantronics headset-amplifier combo does take a bit of setting up; you'll need to plug your phone's handset cord into the amplifier's handset, the phone base into the amplifier and your phone's handset outlet, and finally the headset cord plugs into a Quick Disconnect module and the amplifier's headset.

Also unlike other headsets, a typical multiline phone will not default to the H51-M12's headset when you press a line button. With this unit, you have to remove the handset from the cradle in order to use the headset. Pressing a line button activates the speakerphone.

However, what's lost in simplicity is gained in finer control over both incoming and outgoing audio levels. The volume control on the front of the amplifier controls the incoming volume--that is, what you hear in your ear. On the side of the unit is a slide that controls outgoing volume--what others hear on the line. However, to move this volume slide, you'll need to use a plastic "screwdriver" located on the bottom of the unit.

The H51-M12 is not for use with cordless phones or units in which the dial pad is located on the handset. For a typical office phone, however, this unit is worth serious consideration. --John Frederick Moore

Pros:

  • Flexible incoming and outgoing volume levels
  • Good sound quality

5-0 out of 5 stars Editorial Review is Incorrect
The editorial review incorrectly states that "unlike other headsets, a typical multiline phone will not default to the H51-M12's headset when you press a line button. With this unit, you have to remove the handset from the cradle in order to use the headset. Pressing a line button activates the speakerphone." Actually, the ability to leave the handset on the hook is entirely dependent on the telephone itself and has absolutely nothing to do with the headset.A headset ready telephone will default to the M12 and a non-headset ready telephone will not (the phone may need to be programmed).Check your telephone manual to see if it is headset ready (most manuals are poorly organized and there may not be a section specifically for headsets - check either the speakerphone, handsfree, or "how to answer a call" section of the manual). There are occasional exceptions to this rule - a few phone systems, less than one percent, are built with a certain type of headset in mind (your manual will say if this is true) - but those phones are few and far between.

5-0 out of 5 stars good product
I have been using it for the past 4 month almost every day, and it is really worth every cent. If you are the type of person who use the phone in front of the pc then this is what you exactly need. the good thing that you can use it with any phone regardless of the brand. it turned my cheap phone into a great phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A power user
I have used the H51-M12 Plantronics headset for several years. I am in sales and often wear the headset up to 8 hours a day without any fatigue. It is extremely comfortable, has excellent sound quality and works with 95% of phones. However, you may want to contact Plantronics to make sure it works with the particular brand and model of phone you will be using.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fragile headsets
This phone works well for what I need -- but I've gone through two headsets in two years! The first one just quit working -- the second was destroyed when my son stepped on the cord and it broke off at the jack. So be sure to have a warranty or a replacement plan ... and of course, it's the headset, not the base, that's the expensive part.

3-0 out of 5 stars Plantronics T20 Update
Since this product is still being sold and preceding reviews were some time ago, I'll share my recent experience with the product. It's stylish and solid. The volume and tone controls are accessible and effective.Received audio (ear speaker) is clear and rich.Transmit audio (microphone)is adequate, but could use a gain control.

Disappointments: Line and mute controls are very close together, occasionally leading me to disconnect a line when I reach to mute it.No memory functions other than 'Redial', which doesn't seem to work on the second line.

GLARING INADEQUACY:The BLARING touch tones generated by dialing and navigating through interactive phone systems are way too loud, even at the lowest volume settings.Bad idea, bad design, bad Plantronics.Bad, bad, bad.

5-0 out of 5 stars I want to buys
I would like have one but it is out of stocks. When

2-0 out of 5 stars Love/Hate Relationship
I LOVE the style of this phone! I love how the top lights up BRIGHT RED when I'm on the phone. I love how the mute lights up when enabled. I love the tone and volume controls and the fact that it handles two lines beautifully--each lighting up green when active, red when ringing. Even the headset is stylish AND convertible (over-the-ear or over-the-head)!

If only I loved the QUALITY!! :-( The sound is HORRIBLE. When dialing, the tones are deafening--to the point of pain. Seriously.

There is also an irritating noise. It's sounds like an auto-gain control (maybe the noise-cancellation) that induces a hiss ONLY when someone is speaking. If there is silence on the line, it is silent. When someone speaks (me or the caller) the hiss joins in. Fortunately, the callers can't hear it.

Also, people say they can't hear me very well. They say it sounds very thin compared to my cordless phone.

I'm really sad that this beautifully designed phone fails to perform. If I can get over the BLARING TONES and the ANNOYING HISS and the POOR SOUND QUALITY, I'll keep it. Otherwise, I'm taking it back.

1-0 out of 5 stars All Show and No Go!
If this product were only as pleasing to the ear as it is to the eye!But it's not. After more than a quarter century of engineering headsets/amplifiers one would think that Plantronics would get it right.Wrong!!

If I hadn't destroyed the plastic package in which it came I'd have returned this product without a moments hesitation. ... Read more
