I found the unit to be everything that it was advertised to be.The set-up was easy and very self-explanatory.

Can't plug a phone line into it. No batteries as promised.
This unit has a phone plug that you must plug into a phone socket. You cannot remove the wire from your phone, then plug the wire from your phone into this machine, and then run a wire from this machine into your phone. This needs its own socket.
Once you plug it into a socket with its permanently attached wire, you can plug your phone into this unit. But you better have this near to the jack.
Also the promised batteries did not come with it.

It may be pretty, but it's junk. I cannot recommend.
I was in the market for a new message machine, since my 1990 AT&T tape machine broke. Sound quality, above all, was the most important quality for me. I scoured the web for something that would get the job done -- the Swatch seemed to fit the bill. Not so. I am appauled with the sound quality. It is very bad. Both the outgoing and incoming messages are muddy. Don't confuse volume for clarity. The volume can reach high levels, which is nice. However, because the messagesare so muddy, it is very difficult to hear what is being said, despite playing it at a high volume. I can't believe that some company can't manufacture a DIGITAL answering machine that is high quality, and sounds as good, or better than a tape machine. I'm willing to pay for one if it exists. Sadly, the Swatch is not that machine, and I CANNOT recommend it to anyone.

Little fuzzy but works fine
It sounds like an answering machine, not like voice mail. The accent is a cute touch. I haven't had any trouble retrieving messages remotely.

Disappointing
The machine's features are attractive and closer to what I wanted than any other answering machine I could find. However, the machine cannot detect those irritating computer-dialed calls, and records a blank message minuteslong. Today I had 14 of those. Sometimes it does not hang up the line untilafter the Bell system voice comes on asking "If you want to make acall please hang up and dial again . . ."The machine is also a bitof a challenge to program, and the voice programmed into it is a woman'svoice speaking British English with what sounds like a slight Chineseaccent. Looks Great but Does it work?
This answering machine has two great advantages over alot of other ones: it is cute and it is small. Unfortunately the good news ends there.

Answering machines have to do two things: record messages and play them back. This one does record messages and it does play them back -- at least I think that is what it recorded. The sound quality is so bad the messages are almost impossible to decipher. After 6 months of wanting to rip it from the wall, I finally did just that and tossed it in the garbage. I replaced it with an AT&T version and I couldn't be happier. If it is cute you want, cut out the picture and hang it over your phone. It'll work about as well as the real item.

Total Waste of Money.
Wish I had a zero star option.
I got the first one shipped and the battery compartment
screw had a blunt head. Returned it for a new one.
Volume control know kept having loose contact and would
break the voice, and had to keep jiggling it.
Finally, after 3 months, One day, went dead. No CPR
nothing would help.I thought I should give a newbie
a try. I am going back to panasonic and the sony's. I know
they may have issues, or a hickup here and there. But to
go totally dead on you.

I am amazed Amazon carries this Piece of S***.
Save yourself the trouble. Ditch it.

I new the minute I saw it I had to had to have it.I am a fan of blue, so that was the eye catcher.The price wasn't bad either.After I got it 'hooked up' and set it to working with my own message, I was thrilled.I had previously had amachine for about 10 yrs., so when it 'died' Amazon was the only place for me esp. being on the net.Anyway, it seemed to be working fine, until I tried to replay the important message I had, to my disappointment it wouldn't do that.Then I ran into the problem of not being able to hear the messages very loudly.But over all it ain't so bad.

Reliable, but poorly designed
I've had mine for about 5 months. It serves me reliably, but I've cursed at it a number of times because I think its user interface (e.g. what happens when you press the buttons, and how do you do a certain simple operation) was very poorly designed. It just takes me much longer to do what I have to with this machine than with another digital answering machine I've worked with. For example, to listen to old archived messages, one has to push the "play" button and hold.... it.... down.... for... @#!... eaons.... If you are looking for a cute answering machine, you got it.The sound is not the best but but overall it works fine. Regarding the color it is more tangerine than yellow to me, but still very cute.

very good machine
Our first machine (used telco memory call before). Very nice features- 4 or 2 ring pickup, 1 or 2 minute record time, remote ops (haven't tried), announce and record or announce and hangup modes (different announcements),time/date stamp, call monitor, battery backup.

The audio quality of msgand recordings is great. Setup was very easy, unit confirms what you did.Have ours attached to standalone caller ID box and cordless phone (manualsaid this could cause a problem- nah). Have found no drawbacks mentioned inreviews of other machines at Amazon.

You can count on it
I have had this unit for over a yr and cannot say anything bad about it.
I have never lost a call.I have walked all over the house and outside and the call never faded.I have moved fr orig area and still in the hills can go outside.Sticking with the 900. I do need a speakphone now, so this baby will go in bedroom and plan on buying a uniden phone with speaker. good buy and dependable.

Great product!
I was a little hesitant about buying this because of all the bad reviews I read, well I am very glad that I went with my instinct. It is the best phone by far that I have purchased. The battery life is awesome! And it is so user friendly! I highly recommend this phone!

save your money...
i never write these reviews but felt compelled after buying this piece of garbage.it worked ok for the first few month but then i gradually started hearing more and more crackling and interference.the straw that broke the camel's back was when my fiancee called and i couldn't hear her. when i tried to change the channel it bascially just died.i promptly spiked the phone on the floor into a million pieces.the battery never seemed to really hook up right to the unit, the caller id came up when it wanted to, and the reception was uneven.

save you money!!! buy something else.

Something you can live without
I bought it from my Amazon goldbox. my review follows...
Plus: So it comes with caller ID and one mailbox digital answering machine (must haves for small apartment dwellers with space-saving requirements).
Minus: The handset is designed for Frodo Baggins. It is rather uncomfortably small.
On Net: Save yourself the trouble - buy a higher than 900mhz set.

This telephone is great even though it was only [dollar amount]. I bought it to replace a older unit and it take's less space and has more options than one's costing [dollar amount]. The best part about this aswering machine is it come's with a professional prerecorded message, so I don't have to listen to my own strange voice when it answers, although you can record your own if you really want to. I also like the time of the message is given. I would say this is better than having a secretary, it tells you what day, time and how many message's you have with out having to look at a flashing number. Unreliable
The sound is awful, but I trudged on...as I laid my plans for the purchase of a future network appliance with voicemail capabilities. Unfortunately, it's reliability matches it's quality and it locked up my phone line at least 4 times.

Replaced it with a cheap AT&T unit today.

Don't buy it
The user interface is ridiculously complicated.When you entera password for the mailboxes, it announces each number loudly afteryou entered it, making it difficult to maintain any privacy--why havepasswords at all if everyone nearby can hear your password when youenter it?The sound quality on the recordings is terrible--the firsttime my mother heard my outgoing recording, she said "What'swrong with your answering machine?It sounds like you're speakingfrom Jupiter!" Also, after a few months, the screen beganflashing "lo", which means the backup battery neededreplacing.Replacing it involves unscrewing a compartment on theunderside of the machine with a mini-screwdriver (why on earth nothave it just pop off like most?).So I put a brand new battery in.Less than a month later, it's flashing "lo" again, eventhough there haven't been any power outages, so the battery shouldn'teven have been used!...

this is the worst sounding answering machine I'veever had or heard...no matter how many times I recorded my message, it sounds like absolute crap...it makes me want to go back to my tape machine...its amazing howpoorly a digital machine can sound...i'm going to return this immediately.Don't buy this!

Poor Microprocessor implamentation
I read two reviews when I decided to buy one of these.I think that ifmine had worked, it would have been great.Unfortunately, it hangs upwhile playing the outgoing message.The user interface is very complicated as well.An answering machine that doesn't answer isn't very useful, no matter how many features it has.I'm returning mine.

too cool!
i just got this and am already in love with it.if you aren't ready to deal with the advanced features, just pull it out of the box and plug it inand it answers the phone.when you get ready to customize the setup, readthe manual; the setup is more complex than a simple one mailbox, one ogmmachine, but i didn't have a bit of problem with it.i would have liked tohave individual ogms for each mailbox, but other than that, it is exactlywhat i wanted.

Horrible
I ignored the first message.Noone can understand our message when they call no mater what we do.I didn't believe an organization could really not know how to make the basic functions work but I was wrong.Our's still hasn't stoped flashing.I am returning it.

Low Battery Life
Do not buy this phone.After 2 months of using the phone, the battery life has deterioriated to 15 minutes of talk time - even after charging it all night.The answering machine is not user friendly.To remove a message, you have to do it before it ends.

I never use my home phone. Aside for checking messages. This item did that reasonably well. When I actually got around to answering calls in person I found out how bad this phone really is. Every time I answered the home I get that wierd "line is disconnected" sound. In addition it has really awful feedback. It also cuts in and out like a really bad cell phone. This is quite simply a piece of junk.

THIS IS THE WORST CORDLESS I HAVE EVER OWNED . LOUSY RECEPTION BATTERY I CAN'T FIND TO REPLACE WHICH DID NOT LAST VERY LONG. GO WITH UNIDEN MUCH BETTER QUALITY AND VALUE.......

Good Phone - Love Telezapper
I bought this after my Sony phone of 10 years finally bit the dust. I searched Consumer Reports and this one was rated well. The sound reception is ok - a little static. The Telezapper feature is wonderful - we eliminated 99% of our junk calls in about 2 weeks. The talk/stand by time is not very long and the warning for battery is quick. The base unit does not display number of calls and you cannot skip through calls, but has great sound. The handset is comfortable and easy to use. Never worked right
I got this phone when I went away to college.It's fine for a first answering machine and cordless phone on a budget.But every once in a while it would start beeping very loudly and uncontrollably in the middle of the night!I would have to pull the battery out of the handset to get it to stop.The outgoing message is very fuzzy and sometimes the handset wouldn't even turn on. If you are looking for quality, look somewhere else.

Impossible to hear anything!
I had this phone in my dorm room and it was absolutely horrible!I'm sure some of it was due to every other room having a cordless phone and all the signals intermingling, but this phone was by far the worst cordless phone I have ever used.Even in the silence of the early morning hours (you know how college students are with sleep schedules) there was still staticy shhhuhhhh noises in the phone, making it really hard to have any sort of intelligible conversation.I wish there was a 0 star rating because I would give it that!

This phone is typical of modern electronics
I would not recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to have to buy another phone within 18 months. Less than 4 months after the warranty ran out on my phone, it died and has been unrevivable for the past three weeks.

Please note that I have followed all of the recommendations of the VTech website and telephone support lines. The only thing that I have yet to do is actually request a repair. No doubt repairing this phone will be more arduous and just as expensive as buying a new phone.

Great Phone, No Problems
I live in a suburban apartment complex, and for me, this phone is phone-omenal.Clear as a bell, can walk to the mailbox with it (500 feet), lasts for 2+ days under light use condition between charges.Answering machine is very functional, I very much enjoy this phone.

I liked a friend of mine's VTECH 900 mhz phone years ago, so I bought one (the 9060i).Problem is: static and chatter sometimes, even when fully charged; even when I push the "channel" button.I live in a dense neighborhood, so maybe that's the problem.Maybe it will work for you if you live on a farm (unless your livestock have cells, so to speak)...You could buy a better phone for less. ...
