1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was very disappointed in this phone because it only lasted 4 months before it started making loud noises during conversations.I was surprised that Southwestern Bell would tolerate such defects in their workmanship.

2-0 out of 5 stars Invest in a magnifying glass!
I have had the freedom phone trimline fm2552 for over a year now and i still have to turn it a certain angle towards the lighting in my home to see my incoming calls on the caller-id.By the time i figure out who has called, they have hung-up! Other than that feature, it works alright.

5-0 out of 5 stars it works
The price is reasonable and it works. I got this becauses my old phone got rained on. I live in a college dorm - I hardly ever use the phone except to order food. It works fine for that; I'm happy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Good
I purchased three of these phones when I added caller ID to my service. I was disappointed when I started to notice a clicking/humming sound on all three phones. I moved phones around
to no avail. My 1 Radio Shack and GE phone were fine. I took the phones to a friends house, plugged them in and got the same problem. I contacted the manufaturer, who of course, told me they had no complaints? Additionally, the caller ID box is too small and angled in the wrong place. You need to mount the phone about 7 feet up in order to see the screen. The only thing I liked about it was the back-lit dial and event though it had alot of humming/clicking the volume was good. I returned all 3 phones, which I purchased at 3 different locations over a 2 week period. All the lot numbers were different, so I don't suspect it was a batch problem. Back to the drawing board on this one SW!!! Now I have to find a phone that works better. The AT&T 240 is suppose to be a better buy, we shall see :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this phone!
I bought this Southwestern Bell caller ID phone solely because I wanted something inexpensive and small for my desk. What a mistake!Every time I get a call, I have to lift the entire unit close to my face to see the caller ID. Sometimes when I pick up the handset to make a call, I don't get a dial tone until I click on the cut-off button.

It looks nice, but feels cheap.Even for the slight cost, this phone is not worth the money.Although it stores a sizeable list of incoming calls, erasing the list takes a fair amount of time if you've built up more than a few calls.

Buy yourself a more expensive phone. This one isn't worth the effort of ordering. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Speakerphone generates feedback
The speakerphone on this phone is poor. If you turn the volume up to 2/3 or more, the phone generates high-pitched feedback. If you turn it down lower, the speaker is very quiet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Faulty Design
This phone doesn't works properly, the audio level when speaking on the phone (i.e. the level that the caller hears) is much too low.I guess the amplifier design is faulty as you can hear the noise level increase at it vainly tires to compensate.I brought two models back to the shop for a refund. It is disapointing at it is the only phone I can find that has the all features I want.

2-0 out of 5 stars Inferior to our old speakerphone
We tried to replace our old speakerphone with a newer model. This one has a very soft speaker volume and makes loud noises if you get too close to the speaker.I like the old version better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible audio quality
I have purchased three of these phones now in an attempt to get one with acceptable handset audio quality. (I bought one in an attempt to upgrade my phone service; it was bad - terrible handset audio quality. I returned it to the store, replaced it and bought one extra thinking that the problem was solved. I have two phone lines, hence two phones. Also it is a 40 mile drive to the store!)

All three are essentially unusable. When you are speaking into the handset microphone, properly designed telephones provide some audio feedback to the handset speaker so you can hear yourself as you would when speaking normally in, say, a face to face conversation. The feedback on this telephone is terrible; it is highly distored and it overloads easily.

All in all, a 0 on a scale of 10 for human factors. For $... you expect some quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great corded phone!
I love this phone!I have found the sound to be quite clear (with volume settings), the set-up was simple with the enclosed instructions.Using it on the wall, the caller ID display is large and easy to read (has 5 different contrast settings). The speaker phone has clear sound and has volume settings; I like mine nice and loud.In fact, I can't find anything I DON'T like about this phone! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Never again
This phone was a waste of money. It's lack of radio frequency suppression means I hear the local spanish music station during all my calls. So does the person on the other end of the line. While this could be considered ambiance it is distracting when you are having a serious conversation.GE has offered to repair the phone, but in the mean time I need to buy another phone - it certainly won't be a GE model.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best
Having had good luck with GE phones in the past, I took a chance on this model when I needed a business phone. Unfortunately, my string of good fortune ran out.

The GE 29438GE2 is not a bad phone, but neither is it what I hoped. The positives are many:

    1) Attractively designed and solid feeling.

    2) Large buttons and keypad.

    3) Sure feeling to the keys.

    4) Good sound. Reproduces voices nicely both in the handset and the speakerphone.

    5) LCD display is easy to read, with large numbers.

But there are a few damning negatives:

    1) The battery seems to drain rapidly, even with the unit plugged in. A dead battery means you lose your presets if the main power goes out. Very annoying.

    2) The flash is not lengthy enough and will not always get you back to a dial tone with a single push. (This is a problem with many phones, though.)

    3) Bleed between lines. You can sometimes hear what is happening on the other line, as will the person calling. This is clearly inexcusable.

    4) Volume control is spotty.

    5) Cannot seem to adjust the sensitivity of the VOX. Likes to cut out if the background noise in the room rises even a little. (This seems to be an issue with all GE speakerphones.)

In summary, this is only a fair phone when compared with other models out there.

    Skip.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT RECOMMENDED
Two reasons not to purchasing this phone.1) Because there's no Voice Mail light, & 2) the damn thing beeps every time you do something, and the person on the other end of a phone call hears it.It's embarrassing, unprofessional, and a very good reason to never touch this phone.

This GE product looks like it was built to keep costs down. It should stand for Generally Embarrassing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Speaker Phone Problems
Serious problem. The volume buttons do not function properly. In the middle of a conference call on speakerphone, the volume goes straight to it highest settting.Pushing the down volume button doesn't do anything. The reset option also does not work. However, sometimes it does work.I find that that this happens many many times.I really liked this phone until this unreliable feature is one.SO dissapointed, as I bought it for the speakerphone.May be a result of not using batteries as hinted at in the previous reviews.I am taking my phone back today. Can't anyone make a quality product anymore? This is ridiculuous.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great styling, but not real reliable
I have purschased several of this model and have had to replace all of them for various problems. I've had people on the receiving end say that they couldn't hear me. I've had the volume of the dial tone drop out when beginning a call. People can't hear you well unless you're standing close to the speaker. I also have experienced interference between the 1st and 2nd lines. If someone is dialing out on the 2nd while you're on the 1st, you can hear them. If you place a cell phone to close to it ,you will pick up the transponder signal from the cell which identifies it. When I first purschased the phones they seem to work well, but after a while they started developing bugs. I've had to replace most within a year. But , I do like the styling, and features for a small office. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Look Elsewhere
Within the 1st few weeks of owning the phone the cordless battery needed to be replaced.A few months later the cordless earpiece stopped producing sound.I've bought numerous $20 or less portables that are tougher and a better value. The base unit is fine but does nothing extraordinary that you can't get for less elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good combination of "Two Worlds"
This phone is a good combination of both the "corded" and the "cordless" worlds of phones. The corded "home station" of this phone will work even if the power is off, which is something many people overlook when buying a phone. The adjunct handset can be put anywhere there's an a/c outlet, and doesn't require a phone jack.

I have telephone company voice messaging, so the Message Waiting light is a real plus. The speakerphone has good sound quality. My only complaint is that the home station doesn't have any autodial keys for frequently called numbers. All stored numbers are in the main directory. Also, interestingly, there is no place on either station to record your own phone number.

However, my likes outweigh my dislikes on this phone, and I definitely recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great phone
The quality of this phone has turned me on to vTech again! The voice quality is great; only downside is the handset bade, which is poorly designed and rarely makes solid contact with the cordless battery. But the corded phone and speakerphone are great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone!
What a terrific system. The phones both work great and offer the flexablility of a cordless and the convienience of a corded phone, all in one package. The corded phone also has a speakerphone that actually sounds good and numerous other features.Well worth the money. ... Read more

The handset on this phone is way too weird to use comfortably and the phone is so light that the base gets dragged around by the handset when you are using it.I like the AT&T 210 Trimline phones (which are supposedly discontinued, but easy to find on Amazon.com) much better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rare, innovative design, weird handset
I bought this phone free after rebate and it's one of those rare tiny phones with the keypad in the base. This makes it an ideal wall phone.I can't say it's useful as a desk phone as the base slides around despite it's heavy weight. The keypad in the base is a good plus for a phone this inexpensive--usually you need to get a much more expensive speaker phone just for buttons in the base.If you spend a lot of time with voice-response systems, as many of us do with voice mail and such, this telephone is the most convenient way to do it for the least money.

The handset is weird. The microphone is entirely too skinny and if you're a shoulder-holder you probably won't like the phone. The handset cord is long enough but it's the cheap dull-finished kind that gets dirty easily.Get a nice AT&T Tuff Cord to replace it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Its so cool!
I was actually looking for the Sony corded phone(IT-B3) at the store when I came across this phone.

My gosh what can I say.. I love it! For its price there is literally nothing cooler than this. Compared to the otherATT DesignLine phones, this is the most stylish. I can't believe I got a work of art for this price ;)

The unit feels solid, sleek and the handset is light the the sound comes over crisp and clear. Since I just got this unit, I can't say how reliable it is, but it looks tough.

    I'm a happy camper. ... Read more

    Product Description

A Revolutionary Phone for the Hard of Hearing! Mirafone's patented DirectVibe Pulsator transduces sound waves via bone conduction, bypassing the conventional auditory process. By placing the handset's DirectVibe pulsator at strategic locations on your head, sound vibrations travel from the pulsator to the speech recognition center in your brain. Unlike amplified phones that simply make the sound louder, the Mirafone works in conjunction with the bone rather than the ear. The sound bypasses where the hearing impairment has occurred and works directly through the bone for maximum efficiency and you are able to "hear" through your bone rather than your ear. Mirafone is effective for a wide range of hearing impairments and is designed for people with no hearing to severe hearing loss. If you are not hard of hearing, your auditory system will override the vibrations of the DirectVibe Pulsator and the phone will work in the conventional manner. Commercial Use The Mirafone is not strictly intended for the hard of hearing. It is a revolutionary phone that can be utilized by various people in assorted environments. It allows for a clear, safe and efficient mode of communication to those industries with loud background noise. The mirafone provides an alternative method of delivering sound that makes the conventional means of telephone communication obsolete. Construction sites, power plants and manufacturing sites are just a few areas in which the Mirafone can truly live up to its name. Feel your callers voice: Patented DirectVibe pulsator delivers sound vibrations directly to the brain's speech recognition center. Effective for wide range hearing imparirments. 5-0 out of 5 stars great phone
I had a simpler AT&T wireless phone. The phone was good, but the battery started not holding a charge long and it was cheaper to buy another phone than replace the battery, so I went phone looking. This one is really a great one, with a lot of features that you generally see in phones that cost twice this.

What I really like about it:Two lines. Each lines are clearly displayed with their own settings. You can control the ringer on the be base and the phone itself. You can have the base ring - or not - as each line has its own high, medium and off switch.Have one right and not the other.Turn both off.The same option with the handset. Each line can ring on the handset or not.Have 1 ring and 2 off. This is handy for Fax set ups.

The programing is simple. You want a distinct ring for each line, then you click it that line, punch 1,2,3,4 on the number pad and it will change the tone.Click select and you are ready. This is handy with two lines - you can have a separate ring for each. The button for each is clearly set on the handset.1 and 2 buttons that are dial tone buttons. The volume for the handset it on the side. You don't have to change that in menu like I've always done on other wireless. So you can change this in the middle of the call without peeping in the callers ear!

It has mute controls for the base and the handset - for both lines again.Speaker-phone on the base.So if the handset is left at the other end of the house you can still take calls from the base.Hold, line-in-use indicator, a data port, intercom, pager, base-dialling and 2.4 GHz make this one sound like the caller is in the other room.50 name in directory. The handset it nice and "solid".Read out for caller ID easy to read for this baby boomer.

So for the price you really cannot beat this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good phone with unique feature combinations
There may be better cordless phones but this had the right combo of required features that were hard to match in other products - it supports 2 lines, caller ID, has an alert light for phone company voicemail, had a keypad on both the base and the handset, speakerphone, etc. Also, it uses 2.4Ghz channel 1 and to date it hasn't conflicted with my two 802.11 Wi-Fi network access points running on channels 6 and 11.

The main annoyance so far is a loud clicking sound on the handset earpiece when a call comes in on the other line, even with the alternate line ringer turned off. If you get freequent calls on a secondary line that might be a consideration.

2-0 out of 5 stars A good phone is hard to find
I spend around 90 bucks for this phone at staples for my small home based business. At first it seems to have a lot of neat features but falls short when it comes to call quality. I have friends with $15 v-tech phones that sound better than this! There is static on the line and the tones for the buttons are so loud they'll blow your eardrums out while the voice tones stay too quite to hear. They are both on the same speaker so you can't adjust them independently. I suggest AT&T go back to the drawing board on this one. If I was going to spend $70-$90 on a phone again I would definately not buy this one. I think I will have to resort to buying a much more expensive phone to get the quality needed for a business phone although I've heard that even at $500 there's a lack of call quality. I may be switching to a VOIP system anyway so maybe I'll have better luck in that market.

1-0 out of 5 stars No voice-mail feature
If like me you're buying this phone after reading the feature "visual message-waiting indicator" and thinking that this phone has a voice-mail system, then read this: this phone does not have a digital answering system in-built! It just uses your phone company's voicemail indicator (if you have that facility). So I am returning mine. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't look like its going to last long
The ear phone is more confortble than it looks. Although its wire is very thin, I don't really think its going to last long... The telephone part doesn't have the Mute key. Just a Hold one, that's a shame. I got confused with the PDF from Plantronics. I'm giving 2 starts because of the price, volume capabilities and because its very small =]. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY A NWB PHONE
I do not have this model but after having my old phone for 40 years I bought a NWB phone due to remodeling. It lasted 5 months. You cannot get through on their help line and they do not answer their e-amil. Buy a NWB phone at your own risk.

3-0 out of 5 stars ringer volume
Under features description it states, "You can select loudness of each ringer."I did not find that to be true.On the four phones that I received there is a single on-off switch for ringer control not the individaul volume control as indicated under the features description.I will be retruning the phones. If I didn't need the individual volume control the phones would be satisfactory and a good value for the low price. ...
