She's GREAT but only if you're willing to spend some time .
I've owned this system for over 2 years, and have 10 handsets "working", more or less. It's a fabulous product IF you're willing to get to know it."High maintenance" would best describe what you need to do to get all the features working. If you rely on just the Users' Guide, you'll probably pack it up and return it. BUT - if you're patient, and use the Cygnion website forum to get answers to questions, you'll find the things you're struggling with will probably work, you just need to know the magic tricks that other users have figured out. All the features listed DO really work. But without the forum and usergroup (MSN) you'd be lost. I actually love the system, and while I'm running it in my home rather than a small business, I needed a system that had expandability up to 10 handsets that was affordable. It was a "steal" for the price I paid for this 10 handset system. I use the handsets as intercoms to page family members on different levels of the house. It will do everything for you except fold your laundry. But you'll need to be patient with her.

the phone system that never quits
Have been using this system since 2000 and with the exception of a few dead handsets the cybergenie is still kicking along. I'm very thankfull about the 3.0 software upgrade and drivers for windows XP. Without that it would have been in the trash by now. As for features, the phones speak for themselves, literally. Voicemail is a big reason I got the system in the first place and to have unlimited space on the hard drive to store voicemail makes it a logical soho solution. For the small/home office just starting out, cybergenie has got to be one of the best phone systems you will ever get for the features and for the price.

the only phone system my retail store needs!
I bought the cybergenie system at a local computer store with the understanding that the manufacturer (cygnion) had gone out of business.So, mainly thinking it was going to be a fun toy to play with, I was amazed by it's full business functionality.I have since moved the system into my retail store and purchased additional handsets for all of my employees (works with 10 at once).WE NO LONGER MISS ANY PHONE CALLS!It's like supplying all of my employees with cell phones except without any ongoing expense.We can page each other and transfer calls to each other and all of us can answer any call coming in on our two lines.

since cygnion appears to be out of business, I actually bought another system as a backup (actually I'm using it at home again) and I got a deal on some more handsets on ebay.

Hopefully other companies will pick up where cygnion left off -- I have to assume that they were just a premature victim of the DOT COM fall-out which is too bad.

If you are at all computer savy, this is definitely the phone system for you

Bad Phone
This is our second Panasonic phone. They have both had multiple problems. After a year of constant problems our current phone (this model)has finally died (for no good reason). We have had problems since day 1 -with the most common being 5-10second gaps in reception about every 15 minutes of use.Minor but very iritating.You would think if they can make phones that get reception off a satelite that getting reliable reception on the couch would not be a major engineering hurdle. I would not buy another panasonic phone.

Don't buy any Panasonic products anymore.
I used to think that Panasonic products meant quality. However after buying this phone, I am very disappointed with the quality control at Panasonic. The unit looks okay but after I charged the battery and tried to set the base unit, the handset failed to communicate with the base. It kept giving the same error "No link to base. Place on cradle and try again." again and again. The manual says to go near the base, raise the antenna etc. I was trying the setup with both the units practically next to each other. Panasonic support was the worst. They couldn't help at all and wanted to insist that the unit was fully functional and it seemed like I was doing something wrong. Since the unit was purchased more than 30 days ago, I had no option other than to scrap it and purchased a Uniden phone.

Awesome Phone!
I would recommend this phone to anyone!All my friends that I've talked to have thought that the sounds was fantastic--even when I was using it on the speakerphone and when I used my headset microphone.

To those who had trouble with the voice reception, I have a recommendation: try changing the phone's channel or the channel that your other electronics run on (like wireless internet).All the electronic communication stuff I've had comes set on default to broadcast on Channel 6.However, there are 13 channels available to choose from.My phone would actually overpower my internet connection, so I just changed the router to transmit on Channel 1; and no more troubles.

I also like the voice enhancing feature.Basically, it broadcasts above and below the normal frequencies that calls are carried on.I haven't been in the type of situation where it has made a substantial difference, but I would imagine that dorm and close apartment dwellers could really benefit from this.When I used it, my friend said it made me sound like I was right in the room--the call was long distance to his cell phone.

The features are fantastic: my favorite part is the speakerphone-handset feature.Just hold the phone in your hand, click speaker, and you can talk while you set the phone down on your coffee table or while you move around.No more cricks in my neck.

I got the Panasonic KX-TCA60 headset microphone to complement this phone; and it works great!No one can tell whether I use the speakerphone, the headset, or just pick up the phone like normal.

The talking caller ID is nice; but you may find it disturbing if you like midday naps (of course, it could also be a benefit--you don't even have to open your eyes to see who's calling).You can easily turn it off and on because the phone has a user-friendly menu: much like a cell phone.

Plus, the rings available are multi-tonal (like the newest cell phones).It doesn't really enhance the phone's performance, but I really like it!I also love the sleek design--but of course I hadn't had a new phone in 3 years.

I have only had the phone for a month; but it seems reasonably durable.I also can't speak to the answering machine--I already had one programmed, so I haven't gotten around to using this one.I just adore this phone because as a born multi-tasker, I love walking around, cooking, cleaning, sometimes even working out while getting in some conversation.It's been a life-changer on the scale of a VCR for me!

Useless
I was extremely dissapointed with this phone, especially since Panasonic have (or had, as my opinion now stands) such a great reputation when it comes to cordless phones. I exchanged my first phone for a replacement and still had the same problem: extremely low outgoing voice volume. People I spoke too had a lot of trouble hearing me speak, almost like I was holding the phone at a distance or cupping my hand over my mouth. While everything else about the phone seemed okay (nothing you wouldn't expect from a basic phone/ answering system), this one problem meant the phone was virtually useless.

save yourself the trouble
I bought this phone a week ago and will be returning it because it isn't any good.

* On speaker, others can't hear you unless you're directly facing the phone, if then
* On speaker, if others fall silent and then start to talk again, you miss the first bit of what they say
* There is feedback when you switch from handset to speaker (which shouldn't happen with a corded phone)
* There is feedback when you hang up the handset unless the other person hangs up first
* If someone else is talking and you try to say something, they can't hear you unless they stop talking
* All of the buttons make noise when you press them, even when you're on the phone-- if you need to turn the volume up or down, speaker/mute on/off, etc. it beeps. This is just plain bad design for a phone.

Seriously, don't bother with this one. I would give it 0 stars if that was an option. ... Read more
