5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GREAT PHONE!!
This phone is GREAT!! I wear glasses and have low vision, but do not need one of those giant BIG button phones, well this phone is superb, the buttons are big, but not too huge. heck, they look normal size to me, not so teeny-tiny like all the phone makers are making them nowadays lol. and that is what i was looking for. the 2nd plus, is that you can actually cleaarly read the caller i.d. area, it too, is larger. thirdly, as an extra bonus, the audio on the phone is adjustable. i'm not hard of hearing yet, i'm only 49, but do have one ear that is better than the other. well now i can adjust the volume to fit both ears comfortably.all in all, this is a superb phone and i heartily recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It
This phone is perfect for some one who is hard of hearing. The base can ring very loud and lights up as it rings. The reciever also lights up and can ring loud. When you page it the phone blinks. I love this phone. You can even here it ring outside when needed. I plan on purchasing a extra one for my husbands business.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent phone.Highly recommended!
I recently purchased this phone for my 84 year-old grandmother who is a little hard of hearing and needed a cordless phone with amplified sound. We couldn't be more delighted with this model. It is well designed, easy to use, and the earpiece volume amplification feature works very nicely. The blinking LEDs make it easy to see when the phone rings, and the caller ID has large easy-to-read characters.A great investment for $50. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Infoglobe is really cool
I've had one of these little toys since Christmas and it works beautifully, no trouble at all. Now I did have probelms with the first one, it wouldn't really ever work, but I think it was damaged because the Radio Shack it was purchased at only had 2, and my mom bought the other one and hers didn't work either. I ordered this one and it has been awesome. I love the messages I can set myself, it has never failed to display an incoming number, you can see the info from across the room, and the whole thing is just really cool in appearance.
Sure the engine is audible- if you're about 3 inches from it! Mine sits on my computer desk next to my phone, and I never evcen notice any sounds. Friends who come over and see it are fascinated.

4-0 out of 5 stars Info Glode....Not bad!
I consider myself lucky after what I have been reading.I do have the version that takes the 3 aaa batteries and for a week have not had a problem.A little noise but when you normally set things up, it is quiet and you have to understand how it works. It is bound to make a little noise....hey, it is a toy!Have fun and enjoy.

The only thing I agree with is the setup is somewhat confusing.Read the instructions a few times and you will figure out how to do it but there are still a lot of "clicks" to enter your 6 messages.

I do want one at work too.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's cool enough for the money.Get it.
Very cool.Has value as a nifty clock/calendar even if you don't hook it to your phone line (though I have).I've often considered getting another one for work just for the "ooh, ahh" effect--and I wouldn't use it as caller ID there.I also enjoy that its operation is so intuitive (I never have to get the instructions out).

And yes, the motor is audible, but with just a bit of trial and error you can find a placement in which the noise is minimal.

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not work properly
I saw this in the store and was excited by its geek appeal, so I had my girlfriend get this for me for my birthday. It has so much potential, but unfortunately it is wasted by the simple fact that it does not do its job well.I checked the other reviews on Amazon which mention many of the same problems, so I know it's not just my unit. These things just were not programmed well, which makes it basically worthless since it doesn't do its job.

    * Misses many incoming calls.
    * Gets confused and displays random question marks instead of useful info.
    * Randomly loses its settings (messages, auto-off time).
    * Hard to program.
    * Constantly displays annoying "Olympia InfoGlobe" message instead of something more interesting.
    * Numbers never expire from the unit unless you manually display each one.
    * Poor interface requires excessive button pushing to display each number.
    * Makes a good bit of noise unless you sit it on a pillow.
    * When it does show a call, it often takes too long for the number to scroll into view.

In short, find another way to get caller ID.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cool - but needs more refinement
I liked this concept so much, however the actually function was not as good as I expected. The machine uses a spinning electrode to display information. This make a fairly audible humming sound that bothered me.

My biggest complaint is that the globe displays information all the time.I was hoping the unit would have a "sleep mode", and would only display a incoming call, but it doesn't.Thus if the unit is turned on, the unit displays date and time, or other messages 24-hrs a day. This was distracting, we sent the unit back for a refund. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Aggravating Phone
If it even tips over a little bit on your desk, and falls, just from a standing position to laying down on your desk, the battery pops out the phone dies, and your phone call is gone. What ever happen to AT&T quality?

2-0 out of 5 stars A Big Disappointment
I have to say this phone did not live up to my expectations.Though 2.4 GHz was state of the art when I bought it, its range was actually less than my previous phone. There were parts of my apartment where the signal broke up, and it's not that big an apartment. Also, when you clip the phone to your belt then unclip it, the battery pops out, cutting off your phone call. Now the battery won't stay in at all so it won't hold a charge, and I am forced to buy another handset unit even though I don't even like this phone!Steer clear of this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Phone for Office
I use this phone at work.It works great. Volume, caller ID, redial are all working well.Battery stays charged even when I forget to put it on the base when I leave at night. The battery life display is very helpful! We do not have a wireless net work so I can't speak for that type of interference but it sits next to my printer, under the copier/fax and next to my desk with my computer and it's clear as a bell. You can't get too far (go outside to the parking lot) away from the base but isn't that true of all of the portables?

5-0 out of 5 stars Like it enough to buy more handsets!
Bought this phone several months ago, and now I'm ordering more of the expandable handsets as my other 2-line phones wear out.It works great....and I really like how the handsets take up little space and only need an electric outlet. You can even put them in the bathroom!!!Great product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does everything I hoped and more
We have three of these handsets to go with the answering machine/base.We use them all over the house as phones and intercom. You can call any handset from any other handset.Has redial memory like a cell, use the arrow keys to find the last few numbers you called from that handset.Easily listen to messages from any handset. All this and we didn't read the manual!Who knows what other features are lurking... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Vialta BM-TV Single Beamer Phone Video Station Review
This is a fantastic product that allows my husband and I to stay connected with the children and grandchildren who are located throughout the United States! It took a little bit of effort to get set-up the first time, but the Vialta Customer Service was very helpful. It has been very easy to use subsequently. The video quality can be a bit jumpy when the little ones are moving around excessively (e.g., demonstrating their karate moves), but is made up by the ability to see our family live. The grandchildren (located 2500 miles away) were able to celebrate their grandfather's birthday party and watch him open up thier present. We love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product great price
I loved this product!Although this is my first video phone purchase, for the price you can't beat it!The image is much like that of what you may find on a computer. It's very easy to set up and use. Great way to keep in touch with older family members. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not work properly
I bought this phone because I live in Japan and most cordless phones are off-limits.I found this in the Base Exchange and was excited.A cordless we are allowed to use.My first problem was the charger would not work so I began charging the bateries in the base unit. Then the memory button does not work.I have a difficult time accessing the memory button and the off button.Because I am using the base unit to charge the bateries the batery pack is now loose and the phone often will not work even with a full charge. It blacks out when I set it down.I have been very disapointed in this product and would advise every one to NOT buy it.It is too expensive to only get 5 good months of use out of.

4-0 out of 5 stars A decent phone that doesn't interfere
This is a decent handset. I use the speaker and headset functions a lot. I've had it for nearly two years now and have ery little trouble.

On the downside, button pushing through all of the options can be a bit tedious, and the intercom function, though useful, can be a pain to get to. Five to six button pushes to call another handset.

Another aspect to be aware of is that the VTech site itself seems to have the lowest prices... $44.95 for the handset as of 12/20/04 plus $1.95 foe shipping. Amazon really needs to keep pace.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good phone
We bought the base and 3 extra handsets. The phones work great inside around the yard and even in the adjacent houses around us. They do not however have the range we expected. The reception is clear, the intercom and call transfer are great as is the vmail indicator. We have never had battery issues or interference with our wireless network or other appliances as some people have complained. For the price they are an EXCELLENT buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars cordless phones won't charge
don't waste your money.. i had bought a base unit and 3 handset units.the base works fine, the handset units all have problems charging.Vtech tech support said it's the batteries.. they send me new batteries, but the problem still remains.. i think it's the design of the handset charger, does not make good contact to properly charge the units. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great phone, but...
Could the color be any uglier?Panasonic, you must stop with this cheesy silver being the only option! It does not look cool or "high tech."It looks spray-painted on and doesn't go with ANY decor.I really like this phone and would purchase in a second if only you offered it in black as well.People, are you with me here? What are they thinking?!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone with Great Features
Overall I like this phone.Yes, the talking Caller ID is sometimes difficult to understand but what do you expect for an electronically generated voice. After hearing the pronounciation of my frequent callers a few times, I understand it just fine (and those calls are the only ones I really care to listen out for).I can even stick my head out of the shower and listen and understand the voice announcement. It is the clearest cell phone I have ever owned. No static, no muffled voices, no interference. This is the first time when I talk on the phone and hear interference and I know it is not my phone causing it.I am buying another one for my elderly father for Christmas because he has trouble hearing and will have no problem hearing with this phone. He has a Uniden now and the sound volume is very faint even on the highest volume setting.

I like the speakerphone feature on the handset.I will NEVER buy another phone without it.It comes in handy when I am on hold forever and can put the phone down while I wait and not have to hold it next to my ear.The speaker is also convenient when I have to follow telephone prompts and punch in a bunch of numbers without having to keep putting the phone up to my ear to hear the next prompt.

This phone has the nice message indicator light on the base and the handset.I love that because I can see immediately if I have a message waiting for me.

Oh, I could go on and on about this phone but I tell you it is the best phone I have ever owned.I am struggling to think of anything negative to say about it but I cannot.Yes, it is pricey. The high price caused me to hesitate for about a month before I finally bought one.I put it on my wish list and kept looking around for something cheaper with equivalent features but in the end I had to come back to this phone. But take it from me, it is well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Combo
I purchased this phone to replace a 3-year-old Panasonic Gigahertz DSS Elite phone. The Elite was a great combination of style and useful features.I was looking for a phone without allot of visual gimmicks but had the high-end features I had gotten used to.Enter the TG2336S.

After having this phone a few days I don't really miss the 2 LCD screen Elite it replaced.

    PROS:
    1. Great Feel - Comfortable to hold and press against the ear.
    2. Style - No visual gimmicks.Unlike some of Panasonic's other models this phone is visually lean, yet attractive.
    3. Easy To Use Interface.
    4. Nice Big Voice Mail (VM) button and indicator!!This was something I had to have. The Elite had an illuminated translucent VM indicator; this model has the next best thing.
    5. Sound Quality - It's on par with a 2.4GHZ phone.
    6. Convertible Base - The base can be wall mounted OR placed on a flat surface. This may sound not sound like a big deal; however, shop around. The wall mount option is hard to find in a high-end phone.

    CONS
    1. It's 2.4GHZ instead of the newer, 5.8GHZ
    2. Pricey - Seems a little high. You can pick up similar Panasonic units with answerers for only a few dollars more.

    SUMMARY
A great phone with hard to find features, including wall mount, VM compatibilty.A final phone to purchase before making the switch to more expensive 5.8GHZ units.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great phone /Not so great features
I have had this phone for about a month now.
    Pros:
    No stactic
Can go to the parking lot w/ no interruptions
Can down load ringtones like cell phone for your ringer.
    Easy to use menu
    Clear caller ID screen
Speaker phone is clear, callers can't tell that U are
    on it.

    Cons:
The talking caller Id is horrible. It doesn't pronounce
    the names correct.
The names are not announce until after the second ring.
The voice enchancer has an echo

Overall I like the phone. A couple of years ago I had a phone from ameritech that let U record your voice for the voice announcer. That is what panasonic should do with this phone. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't look for support from this company.
VTech seems to be doing a good job on a technical level. But their support is abysmal. I was encouraged by the flyer in their instruction packet that states, "NEED HELP? Our representatives are here to help you with any questions concerning the operation of this product, available accessories, or any other related issues. Call Toll Free: 1-800-595-9511"

I wanted to ask about a feature that was not addressed in the manual. After 20 minutes (and multiple attempts after getting into a voice jail cul-de-sac) wading through voice jail systems without being to talk to a person, I gave up and am returning the base and phones I purchased (about $250 worth of equipment).

It is amazing to me how otherwise smart companies seem to enjoy making it a major challenge for their customers to reach them on a personal basis with questions and feedback.

I don't care how it looks on some VPs' quarterly report. The dollars saved by these methods is one of the stupidest things a company can do. They'll spend big bucks on focus groups, testing, etc., but ignore one of the most potent (and accurate) sources of good feedback they could have -- their customers!

These are people who believed in them enough to spend hard-earned dollars to buy equipment. What better source for feedback on how to make that equipment better?

    Oh well. Caveat emptor.

Please keep this in mind when making a phone system purchase. The last thing you want to be doing when trying to get support is wandering around an endless maze of voice mail options whose primary job seems to be to shield a company from their customers.

If you want to try this yourself before buying, try the 800 number above. I couldn't even reach someone in the "sales information" option! (At least they are not hypocritical -- they really don't want to talk to customers in any way, shape, or form.)

I would also recommend Amazon consider whether they really want to sell products with such terrible support. This reflects poorly on a fine company like Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Machine for what I need.
If you have a high volume of faxing, then this is not the machine you want.I only get one or two faxes a week and this works great for me.It distinguishes between phone & fax calls perfectly. The only con is that the battery life in the phone is weak.I thought I had a bad battery so I bought another one (only about $12)and after installing it, realized the problem still existed. The handset obviously uses a lot of juice.

2-0 out of 5 stars There's better equipment out there
Another reviewer noted that the fax uses up its ink-roll quickly --- I agree.I get a couple of junk faxes per week and that makes the machine unneccessarily expensive to own.The batteries in both handsets died after 1 year and it cost me $36 to replace them. One of the handsets seems to have gone quietly insane over the past year.It arbitrarily loses contact with the base (even when sitting next to it) and it now happens so frequently that I have to replace it.Perhaps if I had been paying more attention to it I would have noticed the onset of the handset's dementia and taken it to a doctor in time. Oh well :-(

4-0 out of 5 stars Initial Comments and Review
The Panasonic KX-FPG381 Fax & cordless phone combo appears to have been a good decision.

    PROS:
    1. It accurately distinguishes between fax calls and voice calls.
    2. It allows the phone to ring up to from 2 to 7 times (selectable) before triggering the answering machine.
    3. I added an additional telephone and was able to add it without any trouble.
    4. Good, clear telephone reception
    5. Lots of convenience features that you'll quickly depend upon
    6. Selectable tones reduces the irritation of hearing the phone ring
    7. Faxing out is simple (just enter the phone number and hit send). An automated message tells you whether it was sent OK or not.
    8. Receiving faxes is automatic (do nothing, just read your fax).

    CONS:
    1. The manual is the only drawback I can see right now. Its obviously written in a foreign language and then translated into
English. If this isn't the case, then Panasonic should have hired professional technical writers to produce the manual (not the engineers - they can't write directions to make pop-corn).

    OVERALL
I consider it a good buy and a good price when you consider you're getting a quality cordless phone system and a fax machine at one price.

Well, that's my opinion so far. If it changes, I'll update this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fax machine, great phone - great combo
I read the reviews above - who the heck talks 4 hours on their phone???If you're looking for a cordless phone/fax - then this is a good one

2-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic needs to dump this style
Panasonic needs to dump this style of fax machine - the ones that use that cheesy film - like carbon paper only really really expensive.

I had the older model this unit and I can't really fault much about it except the cost of the film and the way it uses the film. It basically feeds inch by inch film to paper. What his means is when a fax message is blank or has one line it still uses an entire page of film.

When your film is finished you may used 20% of the potential of the roll. You can't rewind so you have are stuck with shelling out another $25 for a roll.

I just took mine out of service in favor of a SHARP unit that uses an inkjet cartridge. It's too soon to tell how long it will last but the starter cartridge has already done more than 300 sheets and still going strong. The entire unit cost me the same price as two rolls of Panasonic film.

The cordless phone is fine and works well, but the battery could stand some improvement.

Panasonic needs to stop making these film based machines or at least re-engineer them to feed film only when printing. ... Read more

    Amazon.com Review

The sleek Plantronics M110 headset for mobile and cordless phones is a nice little unit that sits comfortably even during the longest hands-free conversations. It can also provide added safety to your cellular phone calls when driving because both hands can remain on the wheel.

The M110 features a sturdy headband, padded flexible earpiece and headpiece, and a fully adjustable microphone. It required no assembly and, in our experience, was extremely versatile. The microphone can be worn with the headband on either ear, and the headband was very light and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The sound quality of the earpiece and microphone were both very clear during testing.

A noise-canceling microphone eliminates background noise on the M110, and makes your voice easily understandable to callers. There are also three levels of microphone volume, though there is no volume adjustment for the earpiece and, in our tests, we often had to ask callers to speak up.

The headset has a 4-foot cord with adjustable clothing clip to give you a wide range of motion. The M110 can be used with any cordless or cellular phone that's headset compatible and has a 2.5-millimeter jack. --Megan Dugan

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!
I DO NOT like things that attach to my ear!I requested a "McDonald's-like" headset for my cell phone for Christmas and this is what I got.The ear piece is a soft, leathery material, not the cheap foam that irritates your ears.I never have any problems with the sound, in fact, I hear better with headset than I do trying to hold my tiny phone to my ear.Never a complaint about people hearing me either. This is great for around the house, in the car or at work.I am a college instructor and I use it while I am walking around in my classroom filing, grading, etc., I just clip my phone to my pocket and I am free to roam. This headset is great and I would recommend it to anyone!

1-0 out of 5 stars Great if you don't mind not being heard
This headset was comfortable to wear, but people couldn't hear anything I was saying-- horrible microphone. I went out and bought a generic General Electric phone headset for 11.99 & am completely satified-- flexible microphone, great sound quality, mute button, volume control.

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid This
The other reviewers are correct: This is an inferior product. The microphone makes you sound (to the person on the other end) as if your mouth is facing away from it. Long distance NEVER sounded so long distance, as it does with this product.

Plantronics prides itself on being the premiere headset/mic company: makes one wonder why they didn't do quality tests on this junk.

I'll be returning this product for a refund.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good sound -- worthless mic
I was very disappointed by Plantronics dropping the ball on this one.I spend an average of 5-6 hours a day on the phone and enjoyed the M175.Apparently, someone else did also, and I had to get a replacement.Figured the same thing as someone else here and I would save myself $15 and step down.

Headset and earpiece comfort were comparable, as was sound quality (reception).I get so many complaints on the mouthpiece, that I have given it up and am switching back.

Either the mic is poor, or the positioning is bad.I have a small face, and even so, I wish the boom mic was longer and didn't stop at the corner of my mouth.

Bottom line -- unless your mouth curves to one side or you like bending the mic to your mouth, skip this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't beat this headset
I've been the very happy owner of this headset for about a year. I use it with my cell phone, and people have told me they can actually hear me better when I use the headset than when I just use the phone itself. The sound quality is great, and the head piece is very comfortable. I would definitely buy this again. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars False advertising
I've used this phone for about a week before returning it. It is the worst phone I've ever bought...

This phone is advertised as a 5.8GHz phone. The only reason to operate a phone at 5.8GHz is to avoid interference from microwaves and 802.11b/g. This phone operates at both 2.4GHz AND 5.8GHz, allowing you to transmit and receive interference on two bands instead of the usual one. The phone boasts 5.8GHz operation but indicates 2.4GHz in the fine print, despite the superior range of 2.4GHz.

Buttons are terrible: Seperate buttons for On and Off, and you must press two buttons to access CID. These buttons are tiny and have a fair amount of play. Answering machine "joystick" pad feels cheap and is hard to control.

Other features:CID lacks name support (you gotta memorize everyone's phone numbers). Insufficient voice feedback; (makes phone seem dead, and makes you talk too loud... maybe that's on purpose, because callers complain they can't hear me anyway due to noisy connection). Handset is uncomfortabely narrow. Uses proprietery, low-capacity (600mAh) dual-AA battery pack (quality phones let you pop in three standard 2500mAh NiMH AAs). Overpriced.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed in this phone
I bought this phone after quite a bit of research. I was very dissatisfied with both the audio quality of the phone itself and the performance of the answering machine. The phone had lots of background noise ( no matter where the base was located) and was much worse than my 5 year old Panasonic. The answering machine wouldn't disconnect if the caller hung up during the message playback, and would then record the 'off hook' message. Ridiculous design flaw, and no help from ATT's online customer service either. Shopping for another brand!

5-0 out of 5 stars One year review
I love this phone. I originally thought it was too expensive, but now see it is worth it. The 3 additional handsets we purchased are very durable. They have been flushed in the toilet (2 year old son), left outside in the garden (me) and "dropped" on the floor of the garage (husband), and we have not one single complaint. I love that you can buy additional handsets for various locations, my son thinks it's a fun game to hide the phone from mommy.
the battery life is excellent, better than previous panasonic, seimens, and uniden phones. we leave handsets off the hook for up to days at a time, and they will still have a charge.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great performer with one minor quirk!
I got a great deal on this phone and two extra handsets and have been enormously pleased with with its performance and versatility. I don't believe there is a more rounded phone package available at a better price, and believe me, I've looked.

Since it's a 5.8GHz DSS system, I have had absolutely no interference with anything else in my home. And because each handset can be programmed independently of the others, my entire call list is installed on my handset, while my kids have their friends programmed into each of their phones. None of us has to look through long lists of people we don't know to find the people we want to call. When looking for a new phone system, I wanted to get one that had both a built-in speaker phone and an answering machine with separate mail boxes. This not only delivered, but I got a very useful bonus as well: each handset can be used as a speaker phone. Now I'm not tied to the base unit when I need to use the speaker phone.

The only gripe I have is with the answering machine. It works fine and has three mailboxes, which I wanted. However, it records a "message" every time it answers, even on hang-ups or when the caller does not actually leave a message. It's a pain to have to wade through six or seven blank messages on mail box 1 just to hear the two or three real ones. That's the reason I am giving this four stars instead of five. Other than that one quirk, it is a great phone system, and I highly recommend it for its versatility and performance.

2-0 out of 5 stars Do not like this system after one year.
Well, we've had this phone - plus 3 additional add on phones - for about one year now. Unfortunately, we're in need ofa new cordless phone set since the last AT&T phone has finally given out. BIG PROBLEM ** that is not mentioned anywhere ** is that the cap at the top of the antenna frequently pops out. We've re-glued the caps back in several times. We have small children and this is a choking hazard that we reported to AT&T.The design hasn't changed since our purchase.

These phones run out of power quickly - don't leave your phone off the charger overnight, or you'll have to wait for it to re-charge again.

Our first phones gave out after being dropped a few times - not hard or anything, just onto the floor. The design of this model is difficult to hold with your shoulder against your ear - you must use your hand -- so forget holding the baby while you're talking! After a few slips, the phones stopped working.

We killed the final extension tonight after it fell in the dish water. We actually didn't care since we hated the phone so much.

The answering machine system works, but we think the set up is complicated.Recording the outgoing message is easy enough - but there are just too many buttons for us.Also we wished there was a key pad on the base set.

We used to like AT&T products a great deal. Now, we don'tthink we got our money's worth from this system.

We would add, however, that AT&T customer service is very good and they replaced 2 phones early on due to the popping antenna caps. That service didn't really matter, since the caps popped off the new phones as well.Anyway, we give 2 stars for the good service and nothing for the lousy phones.

Good luck -- and try Panasonic! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Siemens - Do you even care ?
Had a Gigaset 2420 - very expensive, worked great for about 2 yrs - then like everyone else that bought one experienced bad display and warbling when on calls. Looked for replacements and found the Gigaset 8825 had the best feature set for the money -bought into Siemens again for even more $$$$The phone out of the box had clicks and pops in the cordless conversations - then lately ( 1.5 yrs old ) the caller ID on line one no longer works. Sad - Very Sad I have to see if I bought this on one of those credit cards that automatically extends wty - Siemens does not want anything to do with it - their 800# support only helps their newest prey - the tech I reached on their toll # only said the phone was shot and bring it to a service center.Collectively people have lost a lot of money to this company.I for one will not buy any Siemens product again - ever.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy Siemens Gigaset at any price
From my experience, Siemens never repaired the issues form their first miserable attempt at creating a consumer/home office phone line of business.I made this mistake of forgiving them on the first iteration, only to see the same problems on the second. If you have the same experience as I, you'll begin to see the LCD fade after a year, maybe two. The handsets deteriorate in short order as well. For me, attempts to contact Siemens result in an offer from them to sell me reconditioned components, or no return e-mail at all.

If you buy this you will be: wasting your money, rewarding gross incompetence, become as frustrated as I.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay away from Siemens phones!

Pros:Specifications look good on paper.Phone made neat crackling sounds as I used it for target practice with my shotgun.

    Cons:Everything else.

This system reminds me of Paris Hilton - nice package that works out great for a while, but sooner or later you discover there is little merit to this overpriced, high-maintenance, fragile and fickle unit.

Customer service is basically from the "we-already-made-our-money-and-we-don't-repair-them-so-screw-you" school of thought.Unfortunately, I bought 2 of them with 4 remotes. Both base stations have failed - so I guess I'm stuck.

I wonder if the remotes would fit in my clay pidgeon launcher...

1-0 out of 5 stars Destruction of the phone by power outages
I had the previous line of phones and paid hundreds of dollars for it only to find that a power outage destroyed line 1. Siemens wouldn't fix it and essentially told me I was out of luck.I swore never to buy another Siemen's product.I was curious about the new generation phones and I see that they still have the identical problem. It doesn't surprise me.They showed zero interest when I reported the problem so how could they redesign the next generation of phones to deal with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars This set has been really great for me
Good range, excellent sound quality, loaded with features. In the Fisk Mansion we needed a way to have a bunch of phones without ripping out the walls and this worked great for us.

    Cons :
Hard to get to line 2 from remote handsets.
    SpeakerPhone is not loud enough.
No flash switchhook feature on remotes for call waiting (that I know of). ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Major recall now!!
This phone was a true disappointment and a stain on the Panasonic brand image.

I owned and used this phone for a little over one year before finally giving up.Two things did this phone in: sound quality and battery life.

Off the gate, the sound quality was poor.Within a 200 sq ft room where the base station was, I got dead spots.I also got callers complaining that I sounded very faint, cut in and out, and that I sound like I was on a cell phone with bad connection.

The deal breaker was the awful battery life.I believe there is a faulty handset design. The handset lost charge faster and faster as time went on.It simply would not hold charge. And yes, I spent $20 and bought a new battery and got the same result. When I can't get through an one-hour conference call on a fully charged handset without the phone dropping dead after 45 min, that was it.

I called and e-mailed Panasonic about this and got the generic-- "reset the base station for sound quality problem and reset the handset for the charge problem".They were of no use.

I plunk down the money on a 5.8GHz thinking so that it will not interfere with my wireless LAN and got this lemon.I gave it one star for its speaker phone and mute functionalities.FWIW, I now have a 2.4GHz (KX-TG2431).One month in, everything works great.Battery life is excellent, no dead spots anywhere, and no interference with my wireless LAN.And it's much cheaper.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent phone
It seems to work like it's supposed to.The only thing I don't like about it is, it just doesn't have the range that I thought it would have. In my case, about 50 ft.Not much farther than that or if I move slightly when I'm talking at that distance, it goes in and out.One other thing, when you call the phone from another phone number, the answering machine voice isn't very loud no matter how close I get to it when I'm recording an outgoing message. It's loud enough to hear a message that someone left, but of all the phones I have had in the past, this one has the lowest answering machine volume when a person calling is listening to the recorded message. All in all, I'm satisfied.I guess I was expecting a bit more.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lasts for about 6 months... horrible
I paid top dollar for this phone as i can't stand how poorly made cordless phones can be. I believed that if I paid more, than somehow I would get a better phone! Whatever...

Please don't buy this phone - the VTech (which I had previously) is far superior. The battery life on both phones is utterly ridiculous. I have owned this phone for 6 months and already I can't talk for more than 15 minutes (which, for my business is a must) without racing to give out my cell as the phone was about to die. One of them is completely worthless and won't hold a charge, the other lasts for 15 minutes. Panasonic should be ashamed - I wasted my money on this.

The features work as they should however, so I can't complain there (thus the 2 stars). What good is it though if the phones don't work?

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth buying
I have had this phone system with two handsets for over 6 months. The sound quality is horrible. All my callers complain about it.The display on one handset already does not work.

I am very disappointed in this phone system.I have always had a very high opinion of Panasonic products but not anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone

    Amazon.com Product Description

With Vonage, you can make phone calls over the Internet, potentially save on long-distance charges, and access a rich assortment of calling features. Plans start as low as $14.99 per month, and the Premium Unlimited plan offers unlimited calling to the U.S. and Canada for only $24.99. And it's easy to use--for making and receiving calls, Vonage works just like traditional phone service, with no special access codes or account numbers required.

    Easy Hardware Connections

All Vonage plans let you enjoy the call features you've become accustomed to: call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, call forwarding, three-way calling, call return, repeat dialing, and reliable long distance... plus other features that may be new to you.For example, you can receive your voice mail as an e-mail attachment, and you'll have a phone number that travels with you.Visit www.vonage.com/amazon to see which plan is best suited to your lifestyle and budget. The low monthly rates are quite reasonably priced, in our opinion, and with them you may save considerably compared to traditional phone service. International calls are available for additional low fees, with one economical exception: calls from the U.S. to Canada are treatedas domestic long-distance calls, rather than international ones.Vonage also supports short-form emergency 911 service, where available. (Dialing 911 requires activation and operates differently than traditional 911. See Vonage's website for details.)

The starter kit comes with a Vonage-certified Linksys RT31P2 router, avoiding the need for a separate phone adapter. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection (cable or DSL) and a touchtone phone. After setting up your Vonage account, you'll have instant access to two lines, each with a separate phone number--you can even assign them different area codes, subject to availability. You'll still be able to surf the Web while talking on the phone or receiving faxes.

The router allows you to connect up to three PCs and two telephones or fax machines, and they'll all share a single Internet connection through which you can smoothly transfer data of all kinds. While talking on the phone, you can still share a printer, make backups, or simply move your latest presentation notes over to your laptop. With easy Web-based configuration, all these options are available at the click of a mouse.Linksys backs the router with a generous three-year warranty.

    What's in the Box
The Linksys RT31P2 broadband router with two phone ports and three switched Ethernet ports, a power adapter, a setup CD with user's guide, a network cable, Vonage plan and support information, a Quick Installation card, and a registration card

5-0 out of 5 stars Laurels for Vonage, the hero of consumers everywhere
Just this Spring, I was hit with $1600 of cell phone bills from Cingular. This included billing errors, and their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired, to put it mildly. (In fact, that is the understatement of the century. I am trying very hard to be nice here.)

After a surprise $400 bill for April, I immediately paid Cingular to get out of their horrible contract, then shopped for a new phone service.

A friend of mine happened to be using Vonage with no problems, so after investigating what all it offered, I took the plunge by buying direct from Vonage.com, which I note with some regret, as I notice there is a $50 rebate offered here. But that is small potatoes. This is the real beans: for $25 a month, I call anywhere in the USA or Canada, anytime. This has a great deal of money-saving potential if you think about it for about five seconds.

I received the same LinkSys model as offered here and my review is of both Vonage and the LinkSys router, which has given no problems.

Some reviewers here claim the voice quality isn't good. I have noticed no difference whatsoever. You do have to have decent and reliable broadband service to consider something like this. I get internet via a broadband cable modem.

Just take the plunge, disconnect all other phone services, and rely solely upon vonage. That's what I did, and no problems thus far. No telemarketers, I get all the "expensive" "deluxe" phone services like Caller ID, I manage the account via the internet, no long distance charges, and all for $25/mo. from what I understand.

The only cautionary note I have to say about Vonage, but which really applies to any VoIP service is, you need to be mindful that your phone service will be disrupted during either power failures (unless you buy an uninterrupted power supply) OR internet blackouts. So this is NOT a total solution for people in bad health, or pregnant women, who are likely to have a sudden need to contact emergency services. For those people, I recommend having a backup line in addition to Vonage and just using Vonage for their second line.

You get to pick your own phone number with the area code you desire. Presto, suddenly your pals in New York can call you for free.

International calling such as to Australia is about a nickle a minute and dirt cheap everywhere except Afghanistan. There are many other features and advantages, and you will be pleasantly surprised at the possibilities when you read their literature.

Despite the recent media brouhaha, there is 911 support. The Bell companies which lobby the government are trying to make a big deal over 911 support, but if you simply follow the instructions and register for it then you do have access to emergency services.

The hardware arrived at my doorstep in less than three days. It took me about an hour to install on my PC, which includes opening the box and unwrapping the contents and positioning the equipment just the way I wanted. The only reason it took me that long was that my set-up happens to be a little more complicated than what is typical. I will not go into the details, but to summarize, I found setup rather easy. Vonage is compatible with any old phone. I chose remote phones so that I can use it anywhere in the home.

The time has come to get rid of the monopolistic stranglehold that the old corrupt phone companies have on America, and let innovative, progressive new companies compete for our communications dollars. I am sick of paying fifty, seventy, or even a hundred dollars plus per month for a stupid phone. When will other consumers wake up and smell the coffee. The phone companies are really hammering the American consumer, charging $10 extra per month for little things like call waiting, call forwarding, or ring back, all of which are free with Vonage.

Let's be honest. If Vonage took ten hours to setup, and required you to pay a technician $500 for installation, it would still be a super deal. But neither of those two scenarios is the case. This thing has matured enough to where it makes sense.

I recommend telling your old, inefficient and probably corrupt phone company BYE - BYE !

Oh, I got a letter from BellSouth the other day offering me $100 and no setup fee if I came back to them. That letter went into the garbage can along with Cingular's offer of $200 off if I would come back to them. I may make a mistake once in a while, but I certainly do learn from previous experiences and don't get taken advantage of twice by the same company.

I am awarding five stars because I like my Vonage service and am grateful there is a "Goodly Knight" out there to do righteous battle against the evil overlords, Cingular and Bellsouth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Vonage???
I had to try it out. I hear so much advertising and hype about Vonage. So, I went down to the local computer store and bought it took it home to set it up and problems right off the back. I have a 3mb DSL connection that is great. I used the temp number and started to make calls, the quality was poor. There was a echo and a delay that was very annoying, I would often talk over people. I tried it for the trial period and then returned it. I called their support and if I have to wait 20 miniutes forget it! I tried 3 times and they lost a customer.
I looked at other companies and found a smaller VoIP provider that is working great for me OurDigitalVoice. I called their tech support a 2 min wait and the people are friendly and informed. Vonage is just too big for their britches if you ask me!

1-0 out of 5 stars Shoud be called VONAGE PHONE ADAPTOR WITH ROUTER
Very disapointed that it is not clearly stated by Amazon that this product is to be used only by Vonage (very expensive compared to other providers like Inphonex which is now my provider).I bought two routers RT31P2 and two PAP2 phone adapters all with Phone ports hoping I would be able to connect all my family (spread around the world).I got a Huge surprise when I noticed that they are locked only for use with Vonage. It says there is a Mail in Rebate worth 50 bucks, anyway it will only last less than two months.Other providers don't even charge monthly fees.

I had already sent all the units to various countries and after finding out that they are to be used EXCLUSIVELY with Vonage I just had to let them die where they were sent.It is not worth the shipping to bring them back.

As disappointing as this, was that I supposed this was going to happen so I contacted customer support from Amazon and asked them (before buying) if they were a "with Vonage telephony system" or if they were a "exclusively for Vonage telephony system".They didn't know so I just assumed they wouldn't be so distracted to not mention this.Specially for starters like us it may have been the most important thing to advertise:EXCLUSIVELY FOR VONAGE

I have always been a fan of Linksys products, my house is full of their products and never had trouble with the hardware. For sure I will continue to buy Linksys products, for sure I will never use vonage (eventhough I am sure it provides excellent clear voice communication; don't get cofussed, there are others that will give you more for a lot less go to yahoo and spend 30 seconds making a quick search and you will see), and for sure I had to tell other people what they are doing so nobody else will loose the money I lost, and what is most valuable, my time.

Make sure that when you buy a PAP2 it says:Model PAP2-NA

Conclussion:I just lost 260 bucks plus shipping and handling (internationally)

1-0 out of 5 stars Vonage - Very Poor Customer Services and Billing
Vonage - Very Poor Customer Services and Billing

We signed up for vonage servicve with number transfer from verizon. Within over 20 days phone number was not transferred. I faxed authorization form and verizon phone bill 3 times to Vonage. I believe, they purposely delay so trial period is over and then you have to pay cancellation fee if you want to cancel. I figured it out when I cancelled my service after 20 days, I was on hold for over 30 minutes though. I was charged $87.73 plus $1.29 plus $43.59 cancellation (even the equipment was shipped day after cancellation and I have proof USPS tracking they received it within 3 days) plus setup fee. Their office is in Edison NJ and I am in North Brunswick, NJ. I was on promotion for 1st month free but this trial for 20 days cost me about $140 even I did not use phone that much (1 or 2 local calls only for test purpose) so I cannot say anything about the quality of their phone service. I have been calling them and CS tranfer me to billing which automatically disconnects me after 8-10 minutes of waiting, it happend 4 times. No reply of any emails it has been over a month now.

Their equipment installation was easy and temp number was up as soon as I plugged it in after activation. So if you are not transferring a number, do not need their customer support and want to stay with them for a long time then it might be a good provider for you, you may want to consider AT&T Callvantage.

After this horrible experience with Vonage, I sgined up for AT&T Callvantage, though a little expensive but I am very happy. They tanferred my number within 10 days and excellant customer service. Phone dialtone is exactly as land-phone and no background noise. I made international calls also and have not any problem with AT&T Callvantage so far.

1-0 out of 5 stars could not make it work with my Vonage
I purchased this to combine a router and phone adapter (to get rid of the Motorola PA that I got when I signed up for Vonage in July 2004). I wrestled with getting it set up correctly and went through the usual HEL* with Vonage support (their support is horrible, horrible, and more horrible). After 3 weeks I got the case escalated to their tier 3 team (the only ones who know anything at all) and with careful troubleshooting he saw that the MTU size is what was causing me to not be able to connect outgoing calls. (I could receive calls, not not place calls - dial tone was ok). After wrestling with my ISP thinking it was their fault, we re-registered my old phone adapter with Vonage, removed this router and all was working again. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars thinking about buying another!!!
I have had the complete system for over a year using it as a primary phone system in a small office environment. This unit, the cordless 420B, is my favorite of all.We use the speaker phone constantly and place it in the center of the conference table when the situation calls for group discussion. The novelty of walking throughout the complex talking on a corded.. cordless phone is unique. The quality of the units and the service is more than acceptable.Personally, I really like the phone and plan on purchasing another like the 420B.Note:Keep the units away from computer monitors (as in beside) due to the antennas causing the screens to produce a wavy effect.Move the phone... wavy screen stops.Buy it, you'll like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good enough
I purchased a KX-TG2000 2-line base with two handsets and a KX-TGA420 extension for use in my turn-of-the-century three story Victorian. The phones work well everywhere I have placed them except near cell phones. They even work in the yard and carriage house.I never have to worry about placing phone lines.Programming the phones is not intuitive but the manual is clear and once you have the instructions programming is easy enough. The phone will call your pager if you get a message and you can use the extensions as an intercom. It beats running up two flights of stairs. You can have voice mail for everyone in the family if you want, and access voice mail from the KX-TGA420.The phones allow you to store the numbers of people who call, you if you have caller ID.The only complaint my family has is that you can't pick up an extension and listen in without the originator consciously conferencing the phone call or transferring it to an extension.Personally, I enjoy the privacy. The only drawback is that the extensions only work through the base unit, which means whole system goes down if your base fails. I tried and returned several expandable phone systems including ATT and GE before settling on Panasonic.

    1-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic 4000 4 line cordless:thumbs down
I bought the KX-TG4000 as well as the extension telephone listed above as the 420B as This telephone system does not have acceptable voice quality, even with both base and extension in the same room.

In addition, this base station is not powerful enough to cover a large, pre-World War II house with hard plaster steel lath walls and ceilings in some of the rooms intervening between the base and the extensions. It was a disaster, frankly.

I have been using a Uniden 900 mhz digital cell phone in this house for 5 years, without the slightest interference, and with first class voice quality.

To rule out defectiveness of this unit, I borrowed another 2.4 ghz base and extension and placed them in the same relation as the 4000/420 combination. The results were just as bad.

I had to return the whole kit and caboodle, including 4 420's, the base unit and three cordless handsets, incurring [expensive]restocking fees from the internet supplier who sold me the system.

The one star is scarcely enough to convey my disappointment and anger about this system.

P.S., the system does not allow paging, a significant drawback.Nor does it have a one step automatic transfer of calls into voicemail. ... Read more
