4-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
The quality of this camera is -excellent- for this price range. I am quite satified with it. Still image captures come out clear and video captures are also clear and fast. As a webcam, I am impressed how fast it picks up movements. I use it on Yahoo messenger. Super-mode would turn on and the quality of the cam is lifelike. However, the downside about this webcam is Yahoo tends to crash once in awhile. It might be a different for other messengers with webcam features. It may be Yahoo that isn't working right and not the camera since it also kept crashing my old cam and pc. Another downside, is the camera tends to fall a lot. It does not clip well to the flat panel or notebook. It has a moveable base but is better placed on a flat surface. Other than that, if your looking for a good quality camera this would be a good one to consider. :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Software is useless!!!
I bought this camera to use for motion detection as an extra
security device at home to email me if motion is detected.
The jocks at creative have helpfully failed to include the option for smtp authentication so no email you try and send
will ever get through unless you have one of the rare few email
accounts where the smtp server does not require a password, if
you do it wont last for long.
[...]Aside from that the camera is good but I'd suggest getting another one with software that is useful because this is a big
feature.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comment on Creative Labs WebCam Live!
This is the third Creative Labs webcam I have bought. Compared to the previous ones (a first generation webcam and a more recent Pro eX), this one produces better pictures - brighter and better color rendering. It works well in low light environment. So as far as performance is concerned, I am pretty happy. However, if you're looking for a webcam that can be SECURELY mounted on your laptop, this one is definitely not for you. This webcam does NOT have a clip or a snap-on mechanism. It does allow you to put the webcam on laptop computer's display panel without falling off if the computer is on a leveled surface without any kind of movement. Even that is little bit shaky if the dispaly panel is thin (like my Dell Inspiron 700m). I give this webcam a 4 star instead of 5 mainly for this reason.

A note about installation (Windows XP with SP2):
This is not a big deal but I thought I would just share with everyone in case someone gets confused. Like other Creaive Labs stuff I have bought before (webcams and MP3 player), the installation procedure in the manual doesn't quite match what you actually experience. The manual indicates after you finish installing the software (drivers and apps), then you plug in the webcam and Windows will discover the hardware and you go from there. In reality, you will be asked to plug in the webcam before you finish the software installation and you never go through the Windows hardware discovery process.

4-0 out of 5 stars good deal, neat design, made in Korea
actually you can manually adjust brightness and contrastness, as well as gamma correction.
good picture quality,
a little bit slow caused by data conjestion ? via LAN connection, but where you can find USB2.0 at this price?
btw, I believe Koreans' made after I bought 3 iRivers MP3 players.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for seeing loved ones.
I bought two of these cameras, one for myself and one for my parents that live in CA (I'm in WA).I moved away recently and wanted to see them more often than I can afford to fly. This camera does a great job and the mic works well too.

A previous reviewer said the video was blurry and slow, I am using MSN messenger and the problem is the broadband connection. When I used the camera on my home LAN to have a video conference between my laptop and desktop the image was great.Clear, smooth very little delay. When I use the camera to talk to my parents there is lag and fast motion causes blurring. To me this is acceptable. If I wanted to pay hundreds of dollars for a business class connection the image would be better but thats too much money.

The voice communication is pretty much equivalent to phone.Almost no delay and very easy to hear.As far as the echo the previous reviewer mentioned his speakers are probably turned up too loud.Every time you hear someone call into a radio station and the DJ tells them to turn down their stereo it is because their speakers are up too high and are causing an echo.If you use the mic in conjuction with headphones it works great.

For $50 I couldn't be happier with this product.MSN integrates flawlessly with it and so far it is all free. The voice quality is close to a dedicated phone line and cuts down on my long distance calls. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars GARBAGE
This video phone is the biggest garbage in the world. I bought one it is a waste of money. Video quality is horrible and cheap!! U will not be happy with this. I also have a motorola OJO video phone. That is much better than this. If your gonna get a video phone get the OJO. The price is higher but the video quality is superb!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Defective out of the box
I bought the "2 fer the price of 1" units.1 for me, 1 for my folks in New England so they can see my daughter via the video phone.Seems like a good deal, right? The 2 pairs arrived to me in the Midwest.I kept one and shipped the other to New England. My folks and I set up our units only to discover their unit is defective and does not power up when plugged in.Great!Terrific! Now my folks have to repack and ship the defective unit to me.I then have to re-repack it and send it with my working unit back to Amazon.By the time we factor in all of the extra postage required for the returns and the forwarding this dual deal is hardly worth it.We are going to try again and I've ordered a replacement pair.I guess I'm a sucker. Is it too much to expect this product to work?Buyer beware. And patient.

2-0 out of 5 stars Costly repair
I bought two units of the beamer and sent one to my family.Turn out one unit is defective - something wrong with the camera. If I send it back to Vialta for repair, they charge me close to $100 + shipping.I think this is a ridiculous amount, as it is almost enough to get a new one.

1-0 out of 5 stars They call this video
Simply doesn't work.Tried on number phone line connections.Definitely not video - at best can use for a snapshot of the person on the other end.

5-0 out of 5 stars Vialta Beamer - 2 pack
We purchased the Beamer video phone just before our baby was born 2 months ago and LOVE it! We gave one to my parents and kept the other. We use it almost daily so my parents can watch their grandson grow from a distance. Since no family members live near by, we are planning to give them to the rest of our family for Christmas so everyone can take part in the fun. Of course the picture is not always crystal clear. We have learned that you shouldn't move around too much and you can adjust the picture quality with the buttons on the side. You can also take a snapshot photo, which stays on the screen until you push the button to take it off. This is a good feature when you have to walk away from the camera or do something you don't want the other party to see. Overall, this is a fun new device that we love to use daily. Be sure to call your long distance carrier to get the best rates so you can use this frequently! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You won't get it 'til you get it
My friend found out about this videophone, bought FOUR of them for his family and then hounded me endlessly to get one. It's easy to think you know how a videophone might work and imagine it's somewhat like using a webcam, but really you have no idea until you see what it's like to press one button and see someone right on that screen.
For those of you out there who hate the thought of having to get dressed and be all presentable to answer the phone, you can just turn off the screen and use it like a normal phone until you get your pants on :)
Speaking of which, imagine what this product will do for couples in long-distance relationships, never mind the grandparents and family scattered around the world who you can now see in real-time! And you can talk ALL DAY for free.
I can't stress enough the insane coolness of Motorola's OJO.

5-0 out of 5 stars No computer needed for OJO !
My mother is 79, lives in NJ. I got her a Motorola OJO, and my brother in AZ got one. My mother burst into tears 1st time she saw the grand girls in 2 1/2 years. So life like, almost like being there, she could "almost touch them". So much better than a phone call, so cool. They OJO each other alot in the few weeks they had them. Excellent quality, picture like the TV, very life like. Nice speaker and nice features. Easy to use, no computer. I highly recommend it, price should come down if the cable companies start to offer it. 5 STARS *****

5-0 out of 5 stars The future is now
This phone is SO COOL...My whole family has been floored with the picture and audio quality from day 1.It is also very user friendly. My wife loves actually seeing her sister on the phone.I learned about the OJO at ojoworld.com.....very helpful site with lots of great links.Motorola sells the phone...Worldgate developed it.This is some great stuff!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible picture and sound quality
The Ojo is an amazing product and is truely worth every dime I spent. I have relatives that live on the West coast and to be able to see them anytime I use my Ojo phone is worth its weight in gold. I highly recommend this product. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars See Loved Ones Over Phone Calls - Send Photos From Camera
I bought this product because I cannot be with family overseas.I bought direct from Vialta, and split my shipment, one to me (Chicago), and one to Philippines (Cebu).

I called my sister I was able to see her on the telephone, I almost cried, I have not seen her in over 4 years!

We later tried sending photos.I loaded my Compact Flash card into the Beamer, and tramitted these pictures without any problem.

This is the perfect 'Stay In Touch' gift you can possibly give your family.Who are you going to 'miss' this Christmas?

Thanks Vialta for a simple to use, wonderful product!

- Janet.

Amazon.com Product Description

Add color, motion video to any phone call between yourself and another party using Vialta's Beamer. There are no hookup hassles, service fees, or extra per-call expenses. The Beamer is compatible with any home phone over a standard analog phone line. It requires no additional equipment or wiring, although to use the video features, the other party you're calling will also need a Beamer phone (sold separately).

Setup takes only a few minutes. Just plug your phone line into the Beamer and then connect the Beamer to your phone. When you call another Beamer owner and press Start, video is transmitted to the other party at up to 15 frames per second. For your party's privacy, the unit displays only a message on your screen until the other party also presses the Start button and transmits video back to you.

In addition to video, you can use the snapshot feature to send a high-resolution still image of yourself to the other party. The snapshot feature doubles as a privacy mode, temporarily preventing video transmission for as long as you want. Enjoy three viewing options: self, to view just yourself (how you will appear to the other party); other party, to view your called party; and combo, to display both you and the other party at the same time. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Works great for technically challenged relatives
We bought 2 Beamers to use with my elderly in-laws.They were able to work it, the image is okay, and they enjoy seeing our kids.We also have webcams for our computer enabled family, and they work much better and there is no phone charges, but this would not work with my in-laws.The videophone is obviously a little choppy, but if you make sure to have a well lit room it shows a nice picture. My 2 year old son goes up to it and says "Pop-Pop, Pop-Pop" when he wants to see his grandfather.Even though they live 3000 miles away, it feels like you are much closer

5-0 out of 5 stars Hi Mom!
Appearance: Lightly tinted bluish beveled glass surrounding the palm-sized LCD and camera aperture. The rest of the unit is that type of matte finish hard plastic used in laptops. It resembles a picture frame or a small LCD monitor (which it is, in part).Three simple controls on the side of the unit, and three ports in the rear -- two for phone jacks and one for the power supply. With this unit, you supply your own phone, which may be more convenient in some cases and saves on space.
Function: You call into the other location and ask them to activate their video station, and the unit on your side activates automatically. There is a 20 second delay for the video to rev up, then both sides can see each other. The unit tilts about 30 degrees on the base.
Quality: Not bad, meaning, it's fair, but comparable to the standard line speed of 33K.The screen is big enough and bright enough for my parents to be able to view with their not so good eyesight. The unit doesn't respond well to movement like all videophones, but if the image shown is relatively constant, voice and video transmission is good and synchronized. The unit has a simple switch to decrease the resolution which prevents rebuffering delay. The unit also has a picture in picture feature so you can see what you look like.Activating this feature does not seem to slow transmission.
Ease of Use: So easy, my parents could hook it up with phone tech support. (Me.)Very easy to activate and non-threatening interface.Hook up time is about 2 minutes; installation instructions are good.Connection time for calls is really no more than 25 seconds. The unit provides good, clear responses to inform about delays in transmission or problems with connection.
Problems: The unit generates some slight heat when plugged into the adapter.I pull the power adapter out of the unit to rid this problem. It doesn't work with all phone lines, like PBX.It works with my run of the mill ten year old phone.
Overall: This is a solid, well-designed and engineered unit. It's been made to be usable, unlike some amalgams of technology I've seen.I remember the videophones of five years ago with prices in the fifteen-hundred dollar range with quality that wasn't half as good as what this unit. This unit is affordable enough to buy a few of them to distribute to the family. This unit is good for grandkids to see grandparents and closes the physical distance in an amazing way, because its like looking at grandma through a really small window in the house.I had serious doubts about this technology actually working, having not seen this unit prior to buying it, but it works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Vialta BM-TV Single Beamer Phone Video Station Review
This is a fantastic product that allows my husband and I to stay connected with the children and grandchildren who are located throughout the United States! It took a little bit of effort to get set-up the first time, but the Vialta Customer Service was very helpful. It has been very easy to use subsequently. The video quality can be a bit jumpy when the little ones are moving around excessively (e.g., demonstrating their karate moves), but is made up by the ability to see our family live. The grandchildren (located 2500 miles away) were able to celebrate their grandfather's birthday party and watch him open up thier present. We love it!

Amazon.com Product Description

Paired with your existing cordless or corded phone and an analog phone line (one or two lines), the Beamer FX Videophone Station with Digital Picture Frame lets you talk face to face and also share digital pictures with friends and family who may be right next door, or on the other side of the country.

As a videophone, the Beamer FX offers a low-profile design with a built-in 0.25-inch CMOS camera that can capture and transmit motion video. Transmission speed is dependant on phone line quality and connection rate, and both parties involved require a Beamer product. There are no additional service fees required for video operation, so the only charge to your phone bill will be for normal long-distance.

As a digital picture frame, the Beamer FX lets you view images directly from your digital camera's memory card--no PC or additional card reader is required. The unit supports five popular memory card formats--CompactFlash (Type I only), Memory Stick, SD, SmartMedia, and MultiMedia Card--and saves up to 12 of your favorite images on its internal memory for later viewing.

Amazon.com Product Description

Early Adopters Pick: October 2003. Call family and friends and see them on your TV. The Vialta Beamer adds video to your conversations using an ordinary telephone line. Two phones per package.

Vialta's new Beamer TV gives you the ability to instantly add video to phone calls using your existing home phone and television. Beamer TV works with any home phone (corded or cordless) over any standard analog phone line (one-line or two-line) to display full color video of the person you're talking to. All you have to do is pick up the phone, dial a friend or family member (who also has a Beamer TV or Videophone), and press the Start/Views button on the remote control.

Beamer TV is small, so it fits in narrow spaces; it is designed to sit atop your television. It has a built-in 0.25-inch CMOS camera that can capture full-motion video and transmit it to your recipient at 4 to 15 frames per second. Transmission speed is dependant on phone line quality and connection rate, as well as the amount of motion and detail being transferred.

When not in use, the remote control rests in a recessed niche so it's easy to find, and a camera cover protects the lens from dust and scratches. And, the Beamer TV has a skid-proof base to prevent accidental slipping and the need to realign the built-in camera.

Setup is easy--simply plug your phone into Beamer TV, plug Beamer TV into your television's RCA video jack, connect Beamer TV to your wall phone jack, and plug in Beamer TV's power adapter. There is no special wiring or equipment required, and no service agreement, so the only charges that will appear on your phone bill are those for long distance.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed again in Vialta
This is the second time I have tried a Vialta Beamer.First the tabletop version and then the TV version. My children and parents were so excited to see each other while talking on the phone. We thought that this technology was truly made for families like ours.Unfortunately, it is just not there yet.The picture is not clear and it can't really capture any motion from the kids.We were truly disappointed again in Vialta.

5-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING VIDEOPHONE !!!!
The Beamer TV Videophone is a Must Have for anyone with family and loved ones who live far apart!
I live in California, my parents and family live on the east coast. In a good year, we get to see each other maybe 3 times.Since moving to CA, I've married, have a daughter and have a son on the way -- making it even more important (and more difficult at the same time) to get to see my family on the east coast. But with the Beamer TV videophone we see each other at least once a week. The quality of transmission is really good and far above what my expectations were, and the price is unbeatable.Plug it into your phone line, connect the video line to your TV (just like a vcr) and you're all set - no other installation, no other costs/fees.Now my parents can see their grandkids grow, and my kids will get to know their grandparents better and see them all the time - as opposed to just a voice on a phone and cards and gifts in the mail.I'm getting this thing for all of my siblings next.Beamer TV Videophone is a definite must have for anyone with family/friends who live far apart!!!It's just too easy and too great not to have one! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good bargain for a geek
It works great for me. I am an IT person so it's not really hard for me to figure it out. But my feeling it's really a challenge to average consumer. That's maybe why such a good deal is not popular in retail stores. To make it work without too much hassle, just put it into the DMZ zone of your router. One suggestion: use it with a cordless phone will really improve the call experience.
Things I don't like (D-Link guys can improve if they want to): the default lens, which has a narrow field of view, is not good for viewing kids, they run around the house. I ended up buying another wide-angle lens for $40. If a video-in jack can be added to connect external video source, such as a camcorder, that will be even better. The voice is not prioritized over video. So voice degrades as much as video when doing cross-Pacific netmeeting. That hurts. But what can you complaint about, a picture is worth a thousand words, let alone a video.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Very Unhappy
My daughter bought this for me so I could see my grand children who live in other states.I have spent 6 days and almost $450 trying to get it to work. I even hired a computer repairman who charged me $184 and could not get it working. If it was not a gift I would send it back to get my money back.I called the help line, lots of times and usually got someone who didn't speak English very well. They would end up telling me it was a problem with the router. Then I would call the router and they would tell me it is a problem with the D-Link.No one wants to take responsibility for getting it working.I even went on the support page on the internet and read pages of things that could be wrong.Tried them all in six days and I still don't have it working and has cost me alot of time and "money".Good Luck if you buy it you will need it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy The DVC-1100!
I have to admit, the main reason I purchased (2) of these DVC-1100's was because of the stellar reviews posted here on Amazon.I bought one for my in-laws and on for my wife and I so that they could watch our children grow up over long distance.Great idea, bad solution. The main problem I had was that the camera lens is fixed, and does NOT focus.I waited 1 hour on the line with D-LINK tech support only to learn that the lenses on these cameras are designed to be fixed and only focus when you are approximately 6 - 8 feet away from the camera.Unfortunately, the ones I got did not focus at all, and the video quality was absolutely terrible (washed out color and bad contrast). Please listen to me, save your money and do not buy the DVC-1100.This device is cheaply made, and just not there yet...

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor performer
This little D-link box is reasonably simple to configure and use. Even using fast broadband service at both ends, audio quality was rather poor (I suspect the microphone is not very good) and the video was awful mainly because of the camera's extremely poor quality. I wonder what possessed D-Link to fit such a device with a camera that's about the same level of quality as a $15 USB webcam. Under ordinary interior lighting conditions, it is impossible to get a clear, naturally colored picture: all you will get is a noisy, muddy mess. Of course the lens quality matches the image sensor: it's awful.
This is a real shame, because D-Link almost made a pretty good product here. The user interface and configuration are reasonably simple and well explained in the manual, and the performance passable. Unfortunately, the built-in microphone and camera are so bad they make an otherwise fairly decent product unusable.

5-0 out of 5 stars We love it !
I bought a pair of this vidoe phone and fall in love with it.

I am relocating to another city. Really missing my sons since we could not have the whole family moved until summer. So I decided to buy a pair of i2eye.

We ended up with turn them on whenever we have a chance. My 6 year old also loves it. Most time I call, he will shut down his cartoon TV and jump up and down for a few minutes. Compare to a regular phone, he would just talk with me one sentence.

Something nice to have (not in the set yet): autofocusing or remote focusing. S-Video output to TV set (so higher resolution).

We are in the process of buying more for my parents and my wife's parents... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera
It is worth buying for simple uses like for seeing family and friends. I received as a gift. It is very portable and will sit just about anywhere and has a nice focus right on the front.I would recommend it.

1-0 out of 5 stars The only good thing about this cam...
The only good thing about this cam is that it allows you to uninstall the software that comes with it from your PC. So you can return it and move on.

The cam doesn't work well with my MSN and Yahoo messenger. It can not be turned on most of the time. I have to unplug it from the USB and then re-plug it in. Really painful.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT LITTLE THING!
THE VEO CONNECT HAS GREAT PICTURE QUALITY AND THE BEST PART ABOUT IT IS IT DOES'NT TAKE UP ANY SPACE. WHEN I OPENED THE BOX I THOUGHT I MADE THE WRONG ORDER BECAUSE IT'S SO SMALL IT LOOKS LIKE A TOY, NEEDLESS TO SAY I LOVE IT, IT'S A GREAT LITTLE THING!

1-0 out of 5 stars Clarity of camera is not clear.
The clarity of this camera is fuzzy.I can only see shadows and not the clear faces of the people.

4-0 out of 5 stars Veo Connect USB PC Camera
The Veo Connect USB PC Camera is essentially the Veo Advanced model minus the built-in microphone. For the price of the camera, stability, and functionality, this is a good buy. If you're using AOL 9.0, AIM, Yahoo, or MSN, you can do no wrong. If you're looking for a cam to use for a business, i.e. Webcam sites that charge a fee (which I won't get into here,) or you're looking for a professional quality camera for other reasons, don't buy this. The Veo connect is perfect, and targeted at, those that just want to keep in touch with family and friends who don't need a plethora of features. It's a simple user interface, good software & compatability, and extremely easy to set up. Plug it in, load the software, then use your favorite Instant Messenging service. The camera runs at a nice 30 fps which is good and there is an adjustable focus. I've looked over webcams for over the last 6 years, going all the way back to the black & white one's put out in 1997. I was pleasantly surprised get out of my office, connect this one to my laptop, and chat with friends from the recliner. Nice camera overall. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my Dell Axim X5.
I bought this camera for my new Dell Axim.I notcied that Dell was promoting it, so I figure I trust Dell.It came in the mail the other day.It is soo cool.It comes with this cool case, it was really easy to install, as well as use. No wonder Dell recomended it-- and now so will I!

3-0 out of 5 stars The solution for Dell Axim users
I called VEO before ordering this product. I was told that if I receive the Pocket Traveler for Pocket PC and the last three digits of the serial number end in a number lower than 960, it would be too short for the Dell Axim by 2mm. I was instructed to RMA the product I receive and they will ship out the newer model that works.

2-0 out of 5 stars 2 stars for now, but maybe more!!!
I too just purchased a VEO Photo Traveler for a Dell Axim, and experienced the same problem as a previous review described.Because of the off-center positioning of the CF card slot and the slightly rounded top of the Axim, the card would not seat properly.I spoke with VEO tech support and they indicated that they had two separate versions of this product and had made a version specifically for Dell that I guess is only available on the Dell web site :(.

I am working on getting an exchange with them right now, but from a product marketing standpoint, I would think that they need to improve their descriptions of which PPCs this will fit in.

Tech Support for Veo is 408-474-0494.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with all PDAs
I had the same experience as swodonnell. The Camera will not seat fully in my Dell Axim and therefore the CF card connection is not complete.Net of this is that the product will not work with my pocket PC. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work Well
The only thing I wanted to use this for was for my msn. Most of the time, my computer would freeze, and I wouldn't be able to use it.I know that it cant be my computers fault, because I just bought a brand new, comp, with tons of space, and it is very fast. The only thing I was able to use it for was taking pictures.

So if you want a webcam to take pictures with, get this camera, but don't buy it off of Amazon.I got this camera at Wal-Mart for $20.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor
There is much better out there for the same money. The Creative NX pro for example.Webcam is very sensitive to lighting conditions, poor with showing correct colors and hard to stay in focus.Save your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars dont know
i have the veo advanced connect ,it has worked one time, when i'am on a web site everyone esle can see but i can not see any thing that is being shared they can see me but i can not see my self on the screen?can some one let me know what the problem is????????

1-0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your time or money
This camera sucks!!! Installation was very easy, just follow the directions. But, the image quality was horrible. It was very dark, very grainy.I could not adjust any of the settings because if I did I would get a garbage picture, and sometimes it would just freeze and stop capturing video all together.

Get a Creative Labs NX Pro instead, its the same price and 1000x better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beat my expectations.
This has been easy to use and the picture quality is beautiful.I recommend this camera. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Barely works 2 feet from antenna
when i bought this cam i was very excited because i was under the impression that it was a WIRELESS webcam and that it could be positioned almost anywhere in the house and still work, assuming it didnt have to go through too many walls or anything, it took me days of emailing the Logitech people back and forth to finally even get the thing to work (they dont give you instruction manuals) and when it did "work" i couldnt move the cam more then 2 feet from the wireless antenna without it stopping. and if you have WIRELESS internet too? forget about it! the channels constantly conflict which makes it work even less, GOOD IDEA not a good product

3-0 out of 5 stars Works great, but video image is not crystal clear
I purchased 2 of these webcams, thinking that I could use them for a home surveillance/security set-up.

Here are the problems I experienced:

1) As with any webcam, your light source should not be behind the object; when pointing the webcam out a window near my front door, the bright background lighting caused the close-up image in my entry way to be dark. On the other hand, when viewing my backyard, it worked fine. You can adjust the image/lighting with the software, but that also has its limitations.

2) When I hooked-up both webcams to my PC, I received an error about not enough bandwidth; this was disappointing because I had hoped to hook-up 2 or 3 webcams to one PC (one for each side of my home).Maybe someone knows how to solve this problem?

3) The video quality was not crystal clear. It was a little fuzzy, especially for distant objects.

The good stuff:
The cordless feature performed great! The unit is attractive and small. You don't have to use a 9V battery for the camera since it includes an A/C power cord. With the 9V battery, the camera will shutdown after 10 minutes if it does not sense any movement (powersave feature); with the A/C power cord, it stays "on" all the time unless you turn it off. Although the included instructions were minimal, I really didn't need them to figure-out how to use the webcam; just make sure that the webcam and the software are set to the same channel (1, 2, 3, or 4).There is a button on the top of the webcam that you need to hold down for a couple of seconds in order to power-up the webcam.

Conclusion:
If the image quality was better and if I could hook-up 2+ webcams to one PC, then I would have kept these webcams instead of re-selling them.If you don't need a crystal clear image and you want cordless, then you'll be happy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, works, mediocre video quality
Compared to other Logitech cameras, like the Pro 3000, 4000, or QuickCam For Notebooks, this camera is definitely a big step down in video quality. The picture is much grainier and always has a greenish cast to it. The latter cannot be corrected (probably caused by office fluorescent lighting), because unlike their other cams, this one doesn't have a white balance adjust, and this is especially odd since all the cameras use the same driver.

The camera will do 30 fps at 320x240, but only on the default brightness/contrast settings which are way too dark for normal interior lighting. When you boost them to get a reasonably bright image, you'll get only about 20 fps, and the picture is very grainy.

Usability is excellent: A base unit plugs into your USB port on your computer, the Windows XP hardware wizard works properly with this cam (after you install the software from the Logitech installer), and the camera can use any one of 4 wireless channels, so you could have 4 of these in close proximity to each other without interference.

User interface problems:
There are no instructions, and it's not immediately obvious how to turn the stupid camera on in the first place. The camera is powered by a 9-volt battery or a plug-in wall wart (supplied). But you must power it up. When I first installed everything, the Logitech control panel kept saying 'no signal', and I couldn't figure out how to turn the camera on. There is a silver button on the top of the camera, which you must depress and HOLD for several seconds until you see the LCD display on the camera turn on. There are also 2 other small round silver buttons whose function is unmarked, but which appear to control which channel you are on, and what mode you are in (still-image or video).

Range and stability:
The range is very good. The camera is rated at 75 feet. I went around about 30-40 feet through several walls, and it still works. But as you move the camera, expect lots of glitches and breakup. Once you stop moving the camera, it cleans up and the transmission is reliable.

There is a mic built-in, which is a nice plus. It had good pickup and decent quality (about the same as the mics in their other USB cams).
-----------------
Summary:
It depends on what you really need. If you really need a wireless camera, this fills a niche that I don't think another camera quite fills. Unlike 'network' cams that plug into your Ethernet cable or WiFi network and operate as a low-frame-rate web server, this thing acts just any other USB video capture camera. As such, you can use it for video conferencing, or a web cam from your computer, with the added bonus of being able to move it around and locate it far from the computer.

On the minus side, the video quality isn't so hot, so unless you absoltely HAVE to have a wireless camera, the Pro 4000 would be a much better choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost a home run
This thing is great, runs long on a single 9 volt, or use the little power cord wherever you take it, USB powers the base station. Picture is definatly worth the price. I would only recomend one thing, get a rechargeable 9 volt battery (or more) because even though you can do alot with this thing, you cannot recharge it. so before you go bonkers buying a few batteries, break out the cash and get some rechargeables, because the kit does NOT contain one, nor the means to recharge one. other than that, Logitech hit this one out of the park, but it swayed just a bit out side of the right field line. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars acceptable
I've owned this cam for some months, and its perfect for me because I travel constantly.Yes, it struggles in low light (interior light, which is where one ususally is) like a digital camera, but if one turns on an additional lamp, the image is acceptable. It has a great, rugged little carrying case, and the whole cam is tiny; perfect for mobility. And, it's best characteristic...it is easy to use and very reliable. For lest than $50, I have not been tempted to return it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed!
I'm returning mine in the morning.Image quality is terrible in normal indoor light. In low light it's useless.Even the slightest movement is a blur on the screen. It looks cool and has a nice travel case, but if you want a functional camera, this isn't it.I'll stick with Intel.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very bad product
Its been two days I've had this web-cam. Very dissapointing... I literally need to sit under a table lamp to to be able to see any pictures clearly. Under normal light, the recording is too dark -- to be visible.

I'm dumping this and buying a logitech tomorrow... Its not even worth 10 bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best priced product
I will keep it short.I did't have any problems with it and it is worth its price, also can be usable by desktops as you can put it on table, none of its types of other brands have this feature. And the only bad thing about it is that it doesn't really have a microphone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great size, decent quality
If your looking for high quality, don't purchase any tiny camera. If your looking for a compact cam for your laptop, this fits the bill. I was initially disappointed in the quality (especially in low light situations), but the practicality of the camera has started to earn its keep. I use a lot of WiFi connections in public places (i.e. airport, college campus) and would rather not hook up large, intrusive camera's. I can hook this badboy on the top of my laptop with little to no notice. For my needs, this camera has been great. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not XP certified, no tech support
This is a nice little camera with tons of problems on installing if your OS is XP professional. Try to find solutions at their web site is a waste of time as the FAQ sections consists of mere three entries, none related to the webcam.
Finally, once that you are upgrading or trying to upgrade the drivers, here comes a warning: "IT IS RECOMMENDED NOT TO INSTALL THE CAMERA BEFORE INSTALLING THE DRIVERS."
I am not impressed with the technical support from this company

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time and Money
My husband purchased this webcam 2 weeks ago so that faraway relatives could see our 3 year old in action. In these past 2 weeks we have had to return it 2x and now we'll be returning it for our 3rd time.

Camera #1 - as we were installing the webcam and reading the manual, we realized that we were missing a key component - the audio connector. What good is a webcam with a built-in microphone if you can't connect the microphone?? Image quality was fine, though - we weren't expecting it to be crystal clear, given the cost of it, but it was decent. I wrote to Micro Innovations' support and was told to bring it back to the store to exchange it for...

Camera #2 - this one had the audio connector. Great! Not. The image quality was so poor and when we fiddled with the settings, it just got worse. In other words, this webcam was defective! So, back to a different store location in a different area of the state for...

Camera #3 - we, in our rush, forgot to check it out before we left the store with it. We were also thinking that there was no way a 3rd such camera would be defective. Got home only to find that it was missing the audio connector! Image quality is similar to what it was in Camera #1. I wrote to the support department again and this time I was told that the newer versions (what newer version? there was nothing in the box or manual that indicated it was a "newer version" and the manual still talked about hooking up an "audio connector") didn't have audio connectors so it was okay. Okay! That means the first one we had was okay too! Yay! What a waste of time! And not only that, the sound quality is horrible - there's this incessant beeping noise in the background no matter how far away from the speakers we put it, though the cord only goes so far. Don't know if we have it hooked up right (though how much room for error is there when all you have to do is plug it into the USB port?) or if this is yet another defective camera.

If only we could get rid of that incessant beeping in the background - we've tried troubleshooting and even called the support dept. at Micro Innovations to help and the support guy was unable to figure out what was going on, this would be a decent webcam, initial problems aside. The software included is fine for our needs, as is the video quality.

3-0 out of 5 stars What you pay for.
I bought this webcam at Staples for 30 dollars with a 10 dollar rebate. It's more or less pretty good in the right light and isn't terrible, but it isn't awesome either. It's basically what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not windows XP compatible, watch it!
We received this webcam as a present, we had to return it since it was not compatible with our computer and ended up paying for shipping the reimbursement!

O.K.Bought it at local frys took it home I have XP. plugged it in stuck in the cd intalled everything on the cd and rebooted then whoolaa it works. yeah real blurry, so I turned the focus around the lens and clear as a bell now.I love this for under 2o bucks it cant be beat now I am gonna see how suse likes it....

1-0 out of 5 stars As everyone else has said, this is awful.
I seem to have been one of the few people who had no troubles installing this. However, the picture is incredibly blurry with no way to fix it, rendering the cam useless unless you feel the urge to be avant-garde.This webcam is a complete waste of money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Webcam Basic review.
May the manufacturing entity of this contrivance burst into flame and die a screaming death as Barry Manilow records are played at extreme decibles.

1-0 out of 5 stars Micro-Innovations is a poor product
This camera works ok in windows 2000 but does not work at all with XP. I feel ripped off and will never buy a Micro Innovations product ever again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but doesn't work well.
I had the unfortunate chance to use this camera whilst staying with a friend. The quality is poor, grainy, and though it tracks well, the picture is inconsistant. The software may as well have been written by a five year old for all the good it works with XP. I liked the look, but even with all the lights turned directly in your face the picture quality is poor at best. Spend your money on something better, this product is definately a waste of hard earned cash.

1-0 out of 5 stars product does not work with Windows XP
Another lousy camera. Does not work with XP. Read a similar review, posted by someone else for the camera IC100C by the same company.
The product box is misleading, says its compatible with XP, but the user manual inside does not include XP in the list of compatible OS. The installation software does not work with Windows XP.
The customer service is also very poor. I called 2 times, each time I was asked to leave a message. No one called me back. I returned the camera, I had bought it from Office Max. I think I will go with a Logitech product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Image Quality Poor, Returned to Store
I thought that since this model was priced higher than the other MI models, it would perform better, but was greatly mistaken. The image quality for video conferencing is poor (very grainy) and does not do well even with all the lights turned on in my home. Also, the program it comes with does not seem to function well with my computer (Win 98): the computer freezes when I attempt to record a video clip.
The design of the webcam was pretty good though. It can be clipped to the screen of my laptop and seemed sturdy enough, although very small and a little toy-like.
Due to the poor video quality and poor light pick-up, I returned my purchase and am still searching for replacement.

2-0 out of 5 stars cool look - lousy image
This webcam has a slick compact look. Unfortunatley, the fun ends there. The best image I could produce had a grey/green hue and was grainy. This cam is relatively inexpensive, which probably expains the poor image quality. ... Read more
