1-0 out of 5 stars Thin, but not too good!
This camera take good pictures only in sunlight! Otherwise, without light, with artificial light it is so poor, so blur! I've got a create pc-cam 300 with 640x480 resolution and it's better better than cardcam.
So, with almost sixty dollars I recomend you buy another one! Try philips key, it has low resolution but you can store almost 1600 photos!!!
Good look!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Built-in RAM is not 64MB
I think is a good product but in features the Built-in RAM is 8 MB

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome portable
This camera fits in my wallet and takes great pictures!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I purchased this without reading the reviews and now I'm returning it.The form factor is great. Its small and easy to carry. USB is handy for transferring the pictures, but the picture quality is poor.Even for me, a casual picture taker, I want the few times I go to the trouble to take pictures to have nice results. This camera just isn't that.

3-0 out of 5 stars best feature is the size
NEGATIVE COMMENTS:
The 1.3 megapixel claim is a bit misleading.Sure, the image size CONSISTS of 1.3 megapixels, but those pixels are really, really fuzzy, exactly like one of those PC-cams you sit on top of your monitor operating in low-light.The image quality outside in bright sunlight really wasn't much better.I did two test-runs, and wasn't happy with the image quality of any of the pictures taken.I'm going to order a camera of better quality even if it costs a bit more, because at the image quality of this camera, I have relatively little use for it.I've had low-res cameras, and though the resolution is low, what they ARE capable of capturing is actually clear. This would make a nice device for someone who just wants to take pics of friends and post them on the web for their other friends. But I'm really into graphics and I'd be ashamed to post any of this camera's resulting images on my website as examples of my work, even if heavily artistically manipulated.

NOT-SO-BAD COMMENTS:
This camera is really cool because it's so tiny, and compared to the cost of film or batteries (because it charges via USB), it's the best deal out there for a "snapshot" camera. You pay eighty bucks and you have absolutely no costs after that. It's so tiny that it's amazing it's capable of taking any pictures at all.I'm not saying their technology isn't top-of-the-line.It's just not suitable for my needs.Think when you're buying this camera that you're getting a 320 x 240 resolution camera and you won't be disappointed. The thing is, even though it includes a lot of pixels, it groups big chunks of color that occupy several pixels, so if you reduce one of this camera's "1.3 megapixel" images to a 320 x 240 image, then it looks ALMOST clear.Take the pictures at the max resolution, then in Photoshop, reduce them to 320 x 240.The groups of pixels that are all occupied by the same information will be consolidated into a single pixel (well, FEWER pixels, at least), and then you'll see that viewing that 320 x 240 image doesn't look any better when viewed at 400% than it did when it was sitting there in its original size, 1280 x 960, at 100%).

The bottom line: if I had a lot of money to spend on devices, I'd definitely own this one. ... Have you ever wished you had a camera with you and didn't?If you just keep this in your wallet (assuming you don't keep your wallet in your back pocket) or in some case you can design (the one they provide wouldn't keep it any safer than your wallet), and you have it with you ALL the time, then you can be glad you're able to pull it out and capture some strange scenario you weren't expecting, and your friends will all think it's a really cool device ...Here's what it actually says on the box: "It's the most functional fashion accessory you'll ever own!" ... 3-0 out of 5 stars good daylight general purpose camera
hmmm

pc-cam 750 has it all.. video, audio, webcam, pictures.

and it works fine.. with one exception

lighting!

pictures are either too dark or too bright
donno what is the problem
works ok in daylight but not otherwise
so you have to take care in that regard

also it is a 1.3MP camera.. only interpolated to 2.1MP
it has a good sensor.. still does not perform as well as expected...

i would suggest you better buy a HP model available for $180 with optical zoom, lcd and memory slots than this one at $110

5-0 out of 5 stars Great webcam, and a great camera!
My dad actually got me this thing for Christmas and I was immediately impressed by how simple the operation is for this camera. At 2.1 mega pixels, this camera delivers surprisingly crisp pictures. And not like most webcams, you can take this camera anywhere and take pictures. It runs on 4 AAA batteries (included), and it adjusts to even the darkest of conditions.

When I did a video conference with my dad, the video on his end came in crisp using cable connections on both ends. The video recording feature on the webcam is also great, but I have yet to find a feasible use for it.For the money, this camera is well worth it's weight in gold. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Creative NX Pro Webcam
I never ownned or used a webcam in my life. This installed easily onto my HP Pavilion 4800 equipped with Windows XP Home edition software.Works great, excellent picture, and an a awesome price. An awesome webcam.

2-0 out of 5 stars Decent initial buy...
Box suckered me in... (1024x768 images, 640x480 video, etc)...
Dunno if it's age now or what (1yr old?), but the quality sucks and it seems to be getting worse! Always did poor in low light, now it's really grainy and the colors are faded. I suggest staying away and, if you want a budget buy, the Logitech QuickCam is better.

4-0 out of 5 stars XP Home vs XP Pro
The problems that andyfano stated were ONLY for Windows XP *PRO.*He said it worked for Windows XP Home. So, could future reviewers please specify if it's Home or Pro?It is NOT the same thing.

As for my own, I found the picture clear and could make it work fairly well in low light settings.Could be smoother, but it's all I need for video messaging.Install was fine on an XP Home computer, but I would be interested to know if anyone else has problems on Pro as another member of my family with Pro is looking to get one.

All in all, cost vs. benefit is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Product
I read a number of reviews and it seemed that the biggest complaint was with the installation. I don't know why. I am running Windows XP Home on a Compaq laptop and it installed fine. I had no error messages about the drivers not being compatible with XP. It took maybe 10 minutes and I was up and running. I have never used a webcam before, and am certainly not much of a computer expert so that says something about how easy this thing is to install and use. I'd definitely recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars OK if it works, very frustrating when it doesn't.
I bought two of these to do video conferencing with my parents.I installed it on my parents machine running Windows XP Home and everything worked fine.I then tried to install it on my home machine running XP Pro and it failed to recognize the camera.I tried on a laptop running XP Pro and it failed as well.I contacted Creative both by phone and email. They tried to helpful, but in the end nothing worked.

I spent many hours trying re-installs in safe mode, adjusting the bios, removing unrecognized USB devices from the device manager, clearing INF files, and nothing worked.Even the recommended install asks that you ignore the warnings that the drivers are not approved by Microsoft. If you're running XP it warns that you not be connected to the internet when you install the updated drivers from the site.Very clumsy.

Finally I gave up, bought a Logitech QuickCam Messenger and was up and going in under 10 minutes. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Creative Labs WebCam Pro eX
I recently purchased a WebCam Pro eX. It's the first web cam I've ever used or owned. I don't know of any others since I haven't used them. Some observations:

Pro: Good picture quality in adequatly lit conditions. CCD sensor. People on the other side of the ocean have told me that this web cam gives has good picture quality, but needs proper lighting source. Good Color quality. User can adjust brightness, saturation and contrast levels in accordance to the time of day. Software provided is easy to use. Comes with a microphone. Has a wide choice of resolutions - up to 1024 x 768. Works extremely well with Windows 2000. I don't use Windows XP, nor do I have any desire to upgrade to it, due to hardware compatibility problems this operating system has, and problems in general. If people have problems with this webcam using XP, it isn't because Creative produces poor drivers or a bad product, it's just that XP (Home or Pro) isn't a very good operating system. It's a poor O/S overall and I've had nothing but problems using it.

Cons: No digital zoom. It's difficult to save compressed Windows Media Player files with low frames rates without encountering problems with video and voice synchronization. Perhaps someone can tell me how to correct this problem. Picture quality degrades under poorly lit conditions. Camera requires a secondary light source. Micorphone is so-so. I use another headset instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars my experience with this webcam
(...)Here are my comments:
The Good:
1. The color is very vivid compared to the 3-year old Creative webcam I had before.
2. Can be cliped on the laptop. The clipping mechnisim is very simple, and it worked for my laptop (a Dell Inspiron).

The bad:
1. Since the base of the camera also serves as the clip, it's very very light (just two piece of plastic), so sometimes it has trouble staying put.
2. On Windows XP, I had trouble with the control application that comes with the webcam (the application that let you take snap shots, take the video, etc). Upon exit of the application, the program crashes. However, I didn't experience any problem with the driver, so the cam works fine with Yahoo and MSN messenger on XP. I don't know if this has anything to do with an earlier version of the Creative application (for my old webcam). I ended up uninstall the old program but haven't had the chance to re-install the new one yet. So I don't know if this problem will go away. I checked Creative's website, there is no software patch available. I didn't have this problem with Win 2000.
3. Had a minor problem when used on my Win2000 machine which has a 4 port D-Link USB hub. When attached to one of the port, it complained serveral times about not enough bus bandwidth. I switched to a different port and the problem seemed go away.
4. Performance under low light condition is somewhat below my expectation.

In general, this is a so-so camera. Not as good as advertised, but then what do you expect from 59 or 79 dollars?

3-0 out of 5 stars AipTek is more value for money
I use the Aiptek HyperVcam Mobile and Creative EX Pro. The price is about 30% difference with Aiptek the cheaper one.

Creative is better at still pictures. However, the software that comes with it will show you a different picture during preview from the one it actually captures. e.g. The preview is darker but the actual saved picture looks okay.

Aiptek captures a poorer still picture but it is WYSIWYG and it has auto-focus.

The video for these 2 cameras looks the same to me. But for the difference in price, I rate Aiptek as value for money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Picture
This small baby is my fifth webcam.

Easy to install in Windows XP. I do not follow the instruction on the manual. Plugin the webcam first, XP reports there is a new device, insert CD-ROM. Do not follow the autoplay of CD-ROM, let XP search the driver, and it's done, 2 minutes is enough.
If u still want to install other software, insert cd-rom again, but unchecked the driver option, and u will install the left.

The picture is clear and sharp, color saturation is good, very stable to stay on my laptop LCDs. Creative has a good product.

It's far better than Logitech Quick Cam Express, and Intel cheapset one. For my point of view, picture quality is better than logitech Pro 4000, which is the comparable product of this one.

Here is some cons: no lens cover, the picture not as good as the Intel pccam Pro, which is the best one i ever use.

3-0 out of 5 stars There are better cameras out there for the money.
I use my webcam for videoconferencing at work, and I have used the Webcam Pro eX for a few months. It's fairly flat, so it fits in a laptop case pretty well.

Other than that, though, the camera performs only moderately well.It produces very grainy images, and in low lighting it's just not very good at all. When you run a grainy image through a videoconferencing codec, the result is a very blotchy picture.

I recently upgraded to the logitech quickcam for notebooks pro, which is also available from Amazon. The camera performs phenomenally well under low light conditions, even better under ideal lighting, and it is about 1/3 the size of this camera from Creative Labs.

The only downside to the logitech notebook cam is that the cable is designed for notebooks. It is only about 3 feet long.

I should add that, yes, you can reduce grain with the full-auto mode on the webcam pro eX, but it definitely lowers the frame rate and results in a very Max Headroom-esque type of image stutter. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good as a webcam. Horrible as a digital camera
I've had the Clicksmart 510 for about a year now.
My main use for this camera is mostly as a webcam.
The quality is really good if used as a webcam.
If using it as a digital camera, the quality is horrible. Using excessive light might do it some justice. Batteries last a long time with this camera as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Loving it!
I've been playing around with this camera for about a month now and my experience has been very good.

First, the cons:

The installation was a hassle for me because, for some reason, the software CD that comes with it didn't download. This problem was fixed by just going to Logitech's main site and downloading it from there. I have Windows XP Home Ed.

Pictures aren't always centered (within crop marks), especially upclose. I've tried to take a very upclose picture of a rose and ended up with the side petals and stem. The camera was held VERY still and for about 10 seconds to make sure it came out right. Never did. Not-so-upclose pictures are no problem.

The cover to the batteries compartment seems very flimsy, since it's plastic and already showing some slight wear around the edges.

Putting batteries in, because the signs are on the cover/latch and you gotta be somewhat coordinated.

Flash is VERY overexposed. Not reasonable to use even in dimest of conditions, because it washes everything out. It works better without flash. If you ABSOLUTELY need to use flash, use the automatic flash.

The webcam needs plenty of light to show proper color.

The waiting time while taking Flash pictures. It lasts about 10 seconds, varies, and makes taking spontaneous pictures impossible.

THE PROs:

Picture quality is superb for the amount of money I paided.

I don't know why so many people complain about batteries but I'm still using the ones I recieved with the camera! I try to conserve them by putting them in ONLY when I need to take pictures and taking them out when I'm done. I've already taken 100+ pictures. This camera saves the pictures without the need for batteries to be in use.

I've thrown this in my bookbag, with about 20 pounds worth of stuff and it's survived without a scratch!

It's just fun! The software includes a "survelliance feature" that turns the camera on when it detects motion. I'm thinking of trying it out one day on my brothers.

With all that being said, I would recommend this camera to anyone that just wants to have fun with photography and get beautiful results!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic digital camera; decent webcam.
You get what you pay for. This camera is a few things, but what it is NOT is a standalone digital camera. If you are looking for a digital camera, look elsewhere. When used as a standalone digital camera, it will take about 10 pictures (about 5 with flash on) and then the batteries go dead.

It works decently as a webcam though - the saving grace is the bundled software which lets you do neat stuff like motion detection, etc.But all in all, not worth the megabucks for just a glorified webcam.

4-0 out of 5 stars awesome camara
I bought this camera around christmas time, I wanted a digital camera to take some pictures with and one i could use on the web. This one is really nice, pictures print out real nice up to 5x7 or so then they begin to look a little shabby.
Oh it does like batteries. Ha Ha Ha.
But it's about the best all around camera for the computer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazingly easy
Having just bought my first computer last year and being a tech dummy, this product was amazingly easy, fast and incredible fun to work with. My friends and family are having a blast seeing what this camera and software can do. As of today, I have bought 2 and a friend of mine has bought 2 also...one for herself and her sister. Now we can communicate with live video and audio to family and friends anywhere in the world as long as they also have a web cam! The software is SO MUCH FUN! Stop motion animation, videos, slides shows, etc. with audio and video editing. If I had known computers could be this much fun, I would have bought one long ago. Mind you, I still can't access word perfect and still haven't a clue what ram is all about, but I can work this product and love it! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Resolution is 352x288 and NOT 640x480 as stated
This product is misrepresented as a 640x480 resolution camera when in fact the packaging says 352x288.

This may be a good camera - but if you are looking for a 640x480, this is NOT it.

2-0 out of 5 stars below average
Basically, you get for what you paid for: a cheap webcam. Here are the things that I found out:

1. XP Drivers are provided, but they aren't XP certified.
2. L shape piece felt cheap. It is hard to make it stable on the top of my laptop. Using the taped clip probably improves the stability, if you don't care about having the clip permanently attached on your laptop.
3. Some of the software came with the package don't install under XP.
4. Performance is bad, comparing to other webcams, and quality is so-so. Even at the highest frame rate, you still see the "fast-moving" object effect.

Overall, it is a cheap webcam, so don't expect too much.
