Amazon.com Product Description

A 900 MHz cordless phone from Uniden, the EXI8965 comes with a number of useful features designed to give you control over your communications. Call waiting/caller ID compatible, the EXI8965 stores up to 50 numbers in its memory, allowing you to see a log of all recent calls, and a 30-number memory dial (20 in the handset, 10 in the base unit) lets you easily keep track of your contacts. Additionally, four one-touch buttons are provided for the most important or most frequently used numbers. With display and dial, dialing any number displayed on the LCD is easy. Simply scroll to the desired entry and press Talk.

The base unit has its own keypad as well as a built-in speakerphone, allowing you to place calls without the handset and to communicate hands-free. An intercom feature lets you talk between the handset and the base, while three-way conferencing allows both the base and the handset to connect to an outside call. Controls for the ringer, handset, and speakerphone let you adjust the volume to a comfortable level, and an illuminated keypad makes it easy to dial, even in the dark.

A belt clip is provided for the handset, while headset compatibility allows you to take advantage of mobile, hands-free communication. The redial button lets you quickly dial any of the last three outgoing numbers, and a mute button lets you mute your end of the conversation. The EXI8965 has an 8.76-by-6.84-inch footprint and is wall-mountable (a wall mount adapter is provided). The NiCAD handset battery has a 7-hour talk time with a 7-day standby time, and a low-battery indicator lets you know when to return the handset to the base for recharging. The phone comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

4-0 out of 5 stars LQQKsss Good
After searching for three weeks for a phone, I am settling on the Uniden's EXI8965 900MHz Cordless Phone with CID and Dual Keypad. You see, this is a leap of faith, being that this is my first online purchase. I have never owned a Uniden phone, but I have owned others who were big in name, but small in performance. What I think I will enjoy most is the dual keypad will allow me to have two phones in one location. Have you ever been in the bedroom, wanting to make a call, but discovered that you left the handset in your laundry room??? Also I like the fact that this phone does not look like a kid's toy. I can place it anywhere and it will fit right in with my decor. It may be a lot to ask, but with the keypad being on both handset and base, that they could have figured out a way to put the Caller ID on the base too. That way, I can decide if I want to go get the handset from the next room!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Uniden TRU 3466
bgt the TRU346 after good reviews, memory dim but phone broke within a year, could not hear caller (they could hear me)often could not get dial tone, don't remember what tech support (email) suggested (chg battery, reprogram unit etc), didn't work anyway. Uniden brand name and the reviews on TRU3466 with speakerphone, gave them another chance.# sign on handset died after a few months (try using voicemail systems without the pound #)had to use speakerphone constantly for # sign key. Earpiece is necessity, move around my office a lot, works on and off now, lot of static or no reception at all.I also need earpiece to keep hands free (major reason for speaker phone as well).Bought two phones, less than two years, $180. Big disappointment.
Will never buy UNIDEN phone again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I bought this phone because of the range and speaker phone feature.I immediately found that the phone kept displaying "line 2" active when there was only one line to the phone. The battery in the handset died after only two months and a replacement never charged. When I returned it to the manufacturer via instructions I received a factory-reconditioned older phone with only 900 mhz in return with no other explanation.I will never buy a UNIDEN phone again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Broke after 1 year
My phone worked fine for over a year. Now the handset won't connect to the base. First, I tried the troubleshooting guide in the manual. Then I tried replacing the battery and contacting Uniden customer service. The phone still fails to work.

Avoid this one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
This telephone worked perfectly for 1 year and then died as if programmed to not work as soon as the warranty ran out... phones should work for more than 1 year and after having tried numerous phones, all of these companies should be ashamed at producing such horribly made phones.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful....Low battery life...
I bought the earlier model which looks exactly like this one and has same features. This is one of worst cordless phone i have ever purchased. During conversation, it shuts of all my itself even when fully charged. I even replaced hte battery but no good.. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Same poor battery life; poor reception
I also found that the battery life of this phone makes it unusable.Even after
it has charged 24 hours, the battery life is less than 20 minutes. Also, the reception is poor compared to the much cheaper 900 MHz cordless I had before it.Although the porduct claims to have a choice of ring tones, they all sound basically the same.

This product is a waste of money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good phone, very poor battery life
I have the same problem as the other reviewers with a very poor battery life. After hours of recharging, it allows approx 20 minutes of use. Searching for a new new battery and will see how it goes...

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this phone
Poor battery life, poor reception, and it broke after 8 months of regular home use. Go Uniden instead...

1-0 out of 5 stars 30+ days since I ordered it and still has not arrived
I ordered this telephone on May 2nd, that is 20 days from today. When I was buying it, it read on the site that it would be delievred in 1 or 2 days. When I received my confirmation e-mail it read that it would be shipped between May 14 and May 21, that is 12 days later. Today May 22nd, and 20 days later it has not even been shipped. I have not been able to try the telephone due to logical reasons, but I dont recommend it to anyone. What is the use of it if you cant get it.
UPDATE: May 29th 2005
Almost one month since I ordered this telephone and I got a message saying it might be delivered in still 15 days more. What surprises me about all this is that they still state in the web page that this item "usually ships in 1-2 days" Which as you can see is completely untrue. Amazon, I feel you have to do something about vendors like this, to protect your customers.
UPDATE: June 1st 2005
Today I got a message saying that there is a "delay" with my order now until the 24th of June (that is almost 2 months since I first ordered the telephone), and that I need to approve this delay so that we can continue processing my order. But in the site the telephone information states that it can be it ussually delivers 1-2 days. I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS.
UDTADE June 10th 2005
I got a message today stating that the telephone will still be delayed more:
- Updated shipping estimate: June 17 - June 24
- Updated delivery estimate: June 24 - July 7
But on the product specifications it keeps saying that it can be delivered between 1-2 days. I think this false information should be take out from the site, it atracts people thinking they will have their telephone delievered in 2 days, and thenlater they will get a message that it will be delayed. Just like me, 2 month is the estimated delay by now, but who knows it might be even longer, after their own behaviour. I have the idea that they want me to cancell my order. Well I wont do that, they can cancell it if they want, and I will write this down in here aswell, for all your potential customers, I hink I have never been treated so unrespectful by any seller in the internet or anywhere else.

2-0 out of 5 stars Terrible reception
I bought this model on sale at a local store.... I liked the features, but the reception (sound quality) was terrible, a lot of static.
It is way worse than in a 900MHz phone that I have, the type one can now buy for $9.99.
Needless to say I returned the phone and now I am looking for a better one.

2-0 out of 5 stars FAIR AT BEST
1. CALLER I.D.: The first reviewer was correct! The caller I.D. is messed up! It does NOT show you the calls in order! It'll tell you ie. 3 new calls, but if they've called you in the past, you have to scroll thru all the phone numbers and look at dates & times that people called. THIS IS HORRIBLE! What takes 2 seconds on most phones takes you several minutes to do with this phone. I want to know who the new calls are right NOW, not in 10 minutes after tremendous eye stress trying to scroll thru 50 numbers to see who was a new caller.

2. MEMORY: There's only room for 50 numbers in memory, not 99 as I read (I believe on Amazon).

3. SOUND: The speakerphone is outstanding, one of the best I've heard yet! In addition, people said they can hear me very well. Lastly, the handset is also good quality.

SUMMARY! While the speakerphone was great, I did return this phone. I simply cannot live with the stupidity of the way this caller I.D. works! Thank you!

2-0 out of 5 stars great features - poor performance
On the good side: this phone has an amazing array of features at a reasonable price.
On the bad side: the range is TERRIBLE. If I go to the next room, less than 15 ft away with no source of interference, I start hearing annoying clicking sounds.Sometimes this even happens when I'm right next to the phone. If I go outside, still only 20 or 30 ft away, the phone stops working completely. Now, I happen to have aluminum siding, which the manual warns about, but, EVERY other cordless I have owned worked just fine outside for 300 - 500 ft, at least several houses away.
Another minor annoyance:For some bizarre reason, reviewing the caller ID memory does NOT show the calls in the order that they were received.I have to press the review button maybe twenty times to see who the last caller was.I dunno. maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Bottom line: Avoid this phone. I do not recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Phone Yet
I loved my phone that I got a few months ago. With the telezapper built in the calls have drastically dropped. I have no problems with the beaps or rings cause I've ajusted them to me. Now, I know I've only had the phone for a few months but so far no battery problems. The range is awsome, I can walk around the house outside with my kids with no problems or static. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't recommend
I bought this phone under a year ago and the battery is already dead. At first i liked it but, as I quickly found out the battery does not stay charged, after a half an hour it dies. I do not recommend this phone, I am in the process of looking for a new phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars This phone is great!
I have had this phone for almost a year now. I love everything about this phone. One of my favorite features is the fact that it has three voice mailboxes. The mailboxes are great if you have a roommate. I also love the different rings. I recomend this phone to everyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Phone Ever Bought
I have taken this phone back twice and still have the same problem, the battery does NOT hold a charge! I can't be on it for more than 5 mins without it cutting out, and yes I do leave it on the charger all the time so it has plenty of time to recharge! This has happend with two of the same phone!

2-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
This is an OK phone. I love V-Tech phones and bought this one for all the features. This was the first 2.4ghz phone I bought, and will never buy one again! This phone itself is great. Easy to use and fairly priced. The range is great, but the sound however STINKS! Lots of interferance on my end. But like I said, I have only experanced it with 2.4ghz phones. I ended up buying a Uniden 5.8ghz that has wonderful clairity, but does not have the range for some reason! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE OF THIS PHONE & V-TECH!!!!
Do not waste your money!!! I bought this phone in July. At first i was satisfied...Then I wasn't. First of all it was the reception and the voice volume. The reception was always static static static and the voice volume was terrible! Whenver you would talk you would hear your voice echo and you would hear a clicking sound. The ringers are annoying and terrible. But some people are saying that the battery life isn't long. I fully charged the battery and purposly left the phone off the charger for a battery life test. The battery lasted 6-7 days without being charged and was used constantly! I do not reccomend this phone at all!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Phone
This is the best cordless phone I have owned and would buy another. For those that have a problem with the battery the problem is not the phone it is the user. I had a problem with mine and what I found is you cannot have the unit on charge, use it for a few minutes and place it back on charge. Leave it off the charger until it needs recharged. When it needs charging place it back on the charger overnight. Following this mine will last 2 to 4 days. One other good point on this phone is it has a very long range. I can still use it 300 feet away from the base.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy a better phone
I bought this phone last year, and paid about $70, and I really regret it now.The caller ID display doesn't work anymore, so when we get phone calls, we have to try to figure out who's calling based on the few readable characters.Plus, the battery is constantly dying, so I have to switch to my corded phone when I make a long phone call.
A minor annoyance has been that the caller id will read phone numbers as such (xxx) xxx-xxxx.Which is fine, but one of the functions of the phone is supposed to be calling back a number on the caller id.However, the phone doesn't know how to dial "1" before it dials the number, so the call never goes through. It displays the area code on local calls as well as long distance calls, so I've never been able to use this function.

1-0 out of 5 stars LCD failed after 6 months
Good features but it won't last.

When I first bought this phone I really liked it.It had a lot of useful features and decent sound quality for a cheap price.Unfortunately the LCD screen failed after 6 months, rendering the caller ID and phone book features completely useless.Another 2 months later and it started to randomly shut off during a call.Tried a new battery but that wasn't the problem.Sucks I paid $45 for a phone that worked for less than a year.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Whistling Phone
I bought this phone when it was $50 or $60 about a year ago.I thought it would be a decent phone for the price. It was what I would classify as below par (and not as the good below par as in golf). This phone never measured up to my expectations. It was cumbersome on the ear, had a terrible battery life, and only lasted me a year. One day my wife picks it up and all it will do is whistle at her.Despite several attempts to hang up the phone, take cords out of the wall and phone, the handset whistled on.My wife takes the phone into the other room and yanks the battery out of the handset to get it to stop. Finally, the phone gave up.And boy howdy, let me tell you, I'm glad it did because any second my wife was expecting the phone to go up in flames and melt in her hand in turn setting the house on fire.Bottom line of this review is the following: Do not use this phone unless you win it as a door prize. And secondly, if you do win it as a door prize, take the money you saved by not having to buy the phone and invest in a fire extinguisher to set by the phone. It will be money well spent. ... Product Description

900 MHz cordless telephones are not subject to the same range restrictions and interference as traditional 43/49 MHz (also known as 10 or 25 channel) telephones. 900 MHz telephones use a shorter signal, which is more capable of moving through small openings, thus reducing unwanted interference. The frequencies in this band are not affected by common household items, such as radios, baby monitors, and garage door openers. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE WORST PHONE EVER!
Please don't buy this phone unless you have nothing else to do but waste money.I got the phone at a really great price so I can't be too mad.The phone has terrible reception, and the battery dies too fast.I took the phone back after 2 days of using it.This was the worst phone that I have ever used!

1-0 out of 5 stars AWFUL PHONE
The reception is horrible, the range is not even close to the manufacturer's claims, and it cuts in and out constantly. We have three other cordless phones in our home and we don't have the same problems. This phone is definitely a dud!Don't buy it or you'll be online shopping for another (just like I am today!!)

BUYER BEWARE!

1-0 out of 5 stars Great as a Dust collector!
The only thing good I can say about this phone is the color. Nothing but static. There is a high pitched noise every few minutes while your on the phone, for no reason. Even on high for the volume control- you can barely hear a person and the buttons are so sensitve that you easily hang up on people if your check hits one of them!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disaster!
This phone is terrific, except for the HORRIBLE SCREECHING NOISE that occurs every few times I use it.It's truly awful, ear-piercing screeching. And when another call is coming in when I'm already on the phone, my conversation is interrupted for several seconds where I just can't hear the other person anymore. This phone is the absolute pits.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Overall
I purchased this phone to replace an older ATT cordless phone and was disappointed with almost very aspect. The design is neither attractive nor comfortable in the hand, set up is quirky, documentation is unclear, and day-to-day performance is disappointing.Although fairly comfortable with all sorts of electronic devices, I had to call the help line to complete set up, which required a series of steps not described in the documentation.

Overall, a disappointment. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars What Were They Thinking?
5.8GHz is a *requirement* if you use WiFi (802.11a/b/g) in your house or if you have other wireless technologies that typically get garbled when the 900MHz or 2.4GHz phones are used.I have had absolutely NO reception troubles in my 3300 sqft house and the clarity is superb.

The phone's looks are top-notch.Black and silver is a very slick look for a modern household.Might look a little funny if you're style is country or traditional.

Caller ID works well and the 2-line display is very helpful.Voicemail indicator is also nice.

The biggest surprise feature for me was the speakerphone in the handset! I've used this several times (it's great when you're on hold somewhere or when you need several people to talk at once) and love it!

I was happy with the menu navigation, although I thought they could have offered more features (like... perhaps the ability to control the volume of that LOUD, annoying beeping every time you press a button). The menu seemed sparse to me.

My biggest two gripes with this phone are not petty and not trivial at all. They are showstoppers, in my opinion.

(1) The phone will NOT work well in states that require 10-digit dialing and a +1 in order to dial in-state.In Michigan, for example, I have to dial 1-248-555-1212 to call my neighbor (ok, so that's information, I digress).

Putting My Neighbor in the phone book as 248-555-1212 results in:
- The inbound works fine (caller ID shows up, custom rings sound if set)
- BUT you cannot dial using the phone book or caller ID redial. This is because both will try to dial 248-555-1212, which will not work! Our phone system requires 1-248-555-1212 to be dialed. There is NO setting for this on the phone.

If you think you can be sneaky (like I did) and set the phone book entry to be 1-248-555-1212, then:
- You can call with the phone book, BUT
- Inbound services don't work (no custom rings) and you STILL can't redial them from the caller ID.

In effect, if you live in a state that has converted to full 10-digit dialing and a 1 is required to dial 10 digits, don't bother with this phone. It's slick, but it's unforgiveable that the engineers missed that one considering the first phone I bought myself in 1985 had this capability.Yay, progress!

4-0 out of 5 stars welcome to the latest band available for phone communication
The new 5.8 gigahertz band has only been available for phone use very recently. The higher band means less interference from many household appliances and even other phones using the same band.

I bought this as a replacement phone for another brand of phone that died. I am very pleased with the sound and distance quality. Supposedly, you can be up to a mile away and still connect, but I have not tested this. I have been able to be in my backyard (my phone base is in a room at the front of the house) at a distance of over 50 feet (I know how far my garden hose will reach) without degredation of quality.

Not only does the base allow near full-duplexing quality speaker phone, the handset is also capable as a stand-alone speaker phone.

The new band means a shorter antenna length is needed, so the antenna is almost invisible.

There is an audio phono jack on the side to accommodate a 1/8" handsfree head/ear set, but such a device is sold separately.

My biggest gripe with this phone is the ridiculously short belt clip. It is literally only 1" long, which means all you have to do is bend over and the phone drops. If they provided at least a 2" long clip or one w/ a spring that would grab a belt or fabric, that would have been preferable.

Another gripe is the so-called "custom ring" feature. I enable the custom ring, but the regular ring is still just as loud, but rings in tandem with a little tune - quite annoying.

Also annoying is the 4-clicks to delete a record from the caller ID. The phone is feature-packed with menu buttons, but not too intuitive - you really need to read the manual thoroughly to know what does what.

The mute button on the base is great, and there is one on the handset as well.

You can save number in a "rocket dial" directory for speedy dialing.

The talk button is also the flash button, so there is a separate button labeled "end" for terminating a connection.

The unit will support one additional handset in tandem w/ one in the base station which is a nice feature that not all phones have. I'm saving up to get the additional handset so I can have one in my kitchen.

There is a light in the handset that is supposed to illuminate when you have new voice mail, but my light has never come on, even when I have voicemail waiting for me... also a bummer that gives this phone a less than perfect rating. All in all, though, I must say this is one of the best portable phones I have ever used.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone!
I have had this phone for over six months and I think it is just terrific. The handsets with built-in speakerphones work great, although I have not used them often as I tend to think speakerphones are rude.In fact, I have been so happy that I purchased additional handsets and placed them all over the house.I have also purchased several sets as gifts and everyone that has received them have appreciated their clarity and ease of use.

While I understand a few others have been disappointed, my experience has been quite the opposite.I simply think this phone is simply great!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I bought this phone strictly because of the Uniden reputation. It was to replace my 6 year old Panasonic which was missing its antenna and still worked somewhat decent.

Within a 30 foot radius of the base the Uniden sounded excellent and it's features such as distinct ring and phone book were very impressive. But as soon as I walked beyond 30 feet the phone would completely cut out and I would have to run back to let the caller know I didn't hang up.I was shocked and disappointed that this happened to a 5.8 gigahertz Uniden and attempted to solve the problem by reading the instructions fully and relocating the base but nothing worked.(Yes I scanned all the channels manually and automatically without improvement.)

I decided to return it instead of an exchange because I felt with such clarity within 30 feet and such poor performance beyond that, that it was not a lemon but just a poorly made phone.Another reason I believed it to be a quality problem is because I had a similar experience with Panasonic.Their older phones worked spectacular but the new models are garbage too.I don't know if this is a sign that companies feel they can produce cheaper quality products and sell them due to their past reputation and get away with it or just a strange coincidence. For now it's back to the Panasonic without an antenna.

This was my experience, hopefully yours is different.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone
The guy posting below MUST have gotten a lemon. This phone has great reception and sound quality.PLUS, this is THE ONLY TRUE 5.8GHz phone on the market. The VTech he loves and the AT&T ones transmit 5.8 GHz tothe handset, but the handset transmits back at 2.4GHz.You don't hear the clicks from a wireless network interfering, but your calling party does. And it still slows down the wifi connected computers. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Panasonic Cordless phones...
I have bought nothing but Panasonic phones over the last twenty years, and this one does not disappoint. I bought it in Tan/Black/Silver and it looks nice with my other office equipment. The only time I get any kind of distortion is when I'm standing directly in front of the microwave while it's running (a given); otherwise, reception is crystal clear on every single call. I especially appreciate the red light at the top of the handset that blinks during incoming calls and when I have voicemail messages (even though the unit itself does not include an onboard digital recorder). The only drawback I've seen with it is the fact that you cannot use the handset in speakerphone mode while it sits on the base... Other than that, this phone is one of my favorites!

4-0 out of 5 stars A definite cut above the rest .. and more...
Features you don't normally find in a basic cordless w-Caller ID.I would definately give it 5 stars if priced less. The speakerphone was my biggest sell and works very well (even hour-long conf calls).Selectable ring-tones, last-5#-redial, sharp lcd display, lighted keys, voice enhancer, multiple setup options, etc. Also includes belt clip + simple shoulder rest attachment.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Never Disappointed with a Panasonic Cordless!!
I have looked all around to find a good cordless... I recently had a Panasonic and I loved it. Then I got a Motorla which was staticy and wasn't a good phone. I grew up with Panasonic Cordlesses and I bought this one in blue and I love it. I can store all the names I need, I can adjust the ring and its volume. Plus if the phone rings and i cant find it the two red flashing lights make it easier. Even with the lighted keypad and screen it makes dialing much easier in the dark. With the caller ID and Caller ID waiting is really cool. I'm only 11 so if I'm on the phone with my friend and someone calls I can just say "Wait hold on my dad's calling" I have 5 phones in my house 1 is standard and the other 4 are panasonic cordlesses. I give this phone a 5 star reccommedation. If I were you I would buy this phone, You wont be disapponited!

3-0 out of 5 stars Interference in high-rises
I live in a high-rise building, so I have a lot of neighbors in close range. My old 2.4GHz analog phone was getting a lot of static, so I bought this phone with the hope that a 2.4GHz digital phone would perform better.Alas, I get just as much interference (in some cases so much I can't hear the person on the other end of the line) with this phone as I did with my analog phone.

I would not recommend this phone for people in high-rise buildings.Having said that, I'm not sure what cordless phones or cordless phone technology will perform well... perhaps a 5.8GHz DSS.

3-0 out of 5 stars So close...
I like all the features with this phone, LCD displayed, phonebook and handset speakerphone, Ni-MH battery and etc. but except one... the range is awful when your one floor down - the sounds tends loosen up when your a few feet away from the base, also tried relocating the base but no effect. frankly im very dissapointed, Better stick with your old panasonic 900mhz DSS phone. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not my first choice for Panasonic
I purchased this Panasonic Cordless phone bc I already had another cordless by Panasonic and I absolutely love it, but it did not have caller ID.I generally have great things to say about Panasonic, but this is one of the worst. The problem that we have is that it doesn't hold a charge very long and it takes a good 24 hours to charge again. We also get static on the line.Other than that it is a great phone, but I would discourage anyone wanting to purchase this phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I bought this phone b/c it was on sale and I have had other panasonic phones I liked. It constantly seems to "click" while Im using it and it has to be charged frequently.Ive had it for 5 months and Im so tired of it Im going to buy another phone.Dont waste your money!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Phone
I like all of the features this phone has and I prefer 900 MHZ. It has a nice Caller ID but I've never come to like the "handset speaker". It's not that great. The directory where you can store numbers is outdated and I'd have to say the newer phones improved on that. I recommend this model in the form where you can have speakerphone from the base.

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding value
I tried several cordless phones before getting this phone at the recommendation of a friend. This is a great phone - the handset is well-designed, the ring-tone is pleasant (as phones go), and the speaker-phone capability is very useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars not a review but a question
I am sorry this is not a review.I have to find a class 2 power supply for this phone as the dog chewed up the other one, as funny as that sounds, it did happen. The model # PQLV2 AC Adaptor.I am sorry I am contacting you this way, but you don't have a site where I can send my question. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone! no noise problems whatsoever
I have two of these phones and I LOVE them!they look good, they keep a good charge, and the caller ID in the handset in great because it's face up when the phone is charging so you can see who it is without picking up the phone.

Some of the other reviews have talked about noise problems.I haven't had ANY problems whatsoever.I do know that sometimes if you have a wireless network that operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency and the router is too close to the base unit for the phone that can cause problems.

Overall, terrific phone for a great price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Phone
This is my second AT&T 1430. After the first, I vowed never to buy another because of the constant static in the background. However, I could not find another cordless that has all the features of the 1430. So I decided to live with the static and I purchased a new one. After charging the battery and dialing my first call, to my very great surprise, I found the sound quality excellent. Not even the slightest hint of background static. Has AT&T finally improved this phone? I don't know. I'm just glad I gave it a second chance.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad phone
Very poor sound quality and reception is poor.STAY AWAY from this phone!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sound quality is poor
I would have to agree with the other reviews which I have read. The sound quality is poor on this phone. There is also some feedback noice on the phone which is very annoying.

1-0 out of 5 stars Two words -- "ECHO CANCELLATION"
This phone met all my requirements... It was 2.4GHz, had caller id... message indicator light ... headset jack... and the price was great... so what was the catch?

You can't use this phone unless you are in the cone of silence with absolutely no background noise. This phone picks up every bit of background noise on your end and amplifies it through the earpeace. My friends now think my favorite word is "huh", because I have to ask them to repeat themselves every two seconds.

SAVE YOUR MONEY... stay away until the old AT&T (circa 1980) manufactures this phone correctly. ... Read more
