Works, but not my favorite
Pros: (1) The pencil lead feed "quicker clicker" on the side of the pencil is convenient, (2) The clip is sturdy. (3) The eraser is thick and works well.

Cons: (1) it feels too thick where the pencil is gripped near the tip, (2) the clear plastic piece around the pencil tip sometimes works its way loose, (3) the small plastic cap covering the eraser is sure to get lost, and (4) the rubber gripping piece is a bit to tacky, and the pencil can be difficult to slide into a suit or shirt pocket.

good for a thicker line
While in general I prefer .7 lead, I find that for some things a thicker lead like this can be useful. The thicker lead is good for woodworking projects and for other times you need to make a dark, thick line. In general it is too thick for my uses though. It is more difficult to write really small and still have the words legible with the thicker lead. Other than that, I like this pencil. It works just like the average refillable mechanical pencil

Greatest pencil ever!
Everything about this pencil is just about perfect. The rubberized grip makes it very comfortable to hold. The eraser is excellent. And it is a stylish sleek black. One word of caution: all your friends will ask to borrow this pencil. Hold onto it; they won't give it back once they've laid hands on it.

Nearest to perfect yet
When using a mechanical pencil, you should have a *good* eraser that is convenient to use. This means you should not grease it up by putting your thumb on it every time you need more lead. Also, when the eraser wears down you do not want to scratch your paper when you go to erase something.

This pencil has a nice, replacable white-eraser that completely erases and can be easily extended or retracted (and is quite long).

The side-clicker is located so it does not interfere with writing, but can easily be reached when more lead is needed.

Overall this is the best pencil out there that I have seen in these regards.

The drawback: the entire pencil is made of plastic so it is not very durable in your pocket. Particularly the back end of the pencil may crack.

Caution: My Review Is For the Old Pencils
The old quicker clickers are awesome.They used to come in a variety of colors, yellow, green, smoke, red, and most popularly: blue!I still have a smoke and green.After discontinuing the colors for a while, Pentel went ahead and changed the models and they are now weirdly shaped and don't work as well, from what I hear.

If you can get your hands on the old models, no matter how you do it, they are the best mechanical pencils!It's a shame they discontinued in order to add that silly comfort-pad or whatever at the head.

In high school, they were always stolen from me and I guess I never really kept my guard up, so I regret not having paid attention.I still use these pens to this day (a decade later).Our science teachers always used the blue ones...

Anyway, that said, five stars to the old ones, three to the new.Good luck!

Not great
The tip is of a brittle plastic and the threads that the tip screws onto is weak. I am a college sutudent and thoses tips keep breaking in my backpack. But I guess if you aren't rough with them they will last a while.
